The index of a Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ is defined by ind $\mathfrak{g}=$ $\min_{f\in \mathfrak{g}^*}\dim(\ker (B_f))$, where $f$ is an element of the linear dual $\mathfrak{g}^*$ and $B_f(x,y)=f([x,y])$ is the associated skew-symmetric Kirillov form. We develop a broad general framework for the explicit construction of regular (index realizing) functionals for seaweed subalgebras of $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ and the classical Lie algebras: $A_n=\mathfrak{sl}(n+1),$ $B_n=\mathfrak{so}(2n+1)$, and $C_n=\mathfrak{sp}(2n)$. Until now, this problem has remained open in $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ -- and in all the classical types.
The index of a Lie algebra is an important algebraic invariant, but it is notoriously difficult to compute. However, for the suggestively-named seaweed algebras, the computation of the index can be reduced to a combinatorial formula based on the connected components of a "meander": a planar graph associated with the algebra. Our index analysis on seaweed algebras requires only basic linear and abstract algebra. Indeed, the main goal of this survey-type article is to introduce a broader audience to seaweed algebras with minimal appeal to specialized language and notation from Lie theory. This s…
Seaweed Lie algebras are a natural generalisation of parabolic subalgebras of reductive Lie algebras. The well-known Richardson Theorem says that the adjoint action of a parabolic group has a dense open orbit in the nilpotent radical of its Lie algebra \cite{richardson}. We call elements in the open orbit Richardson elements. In \cite{JSY} together with Yu, we generalized Richardson's Theorem and showed that Richardson elements exist for seaweed Lie algebras of type $\mathbb{A}$. Using GAP, we checked that Richardson elements exist for all exceptional simple Lie algebras except $\mathbb{E}_8$,…
A ($2k+1$)$-$dimensional contact Lie algebra is one which admits a one-form $φ$ such that $φ\wedge (dφ)^k\ne0$. Such algebras have index one, but this is not generally a sufficient condition. Here we show that index-one type-A seaweed algebras are necessarily contact. Examples, together with a method for their explicit construction, are provided.
Analogous to the types A, B, and C cases, we address the computation of the index of seaweed subalgebras in the type-D case. Formulas for the algebra's index can be computed by counting the connected components of its associated meander. We focus on a set of distinguished vertices of the meander, called the tail of the meander, and using the tail, we provide comprehensive combinatorial formulas for the index of a seaweed in all the classical types. Using these formulas, we provide all general closed-form index formulas where the index is given by a polynomial greatest common divisor formula in…
If $\mathfrak{g}$ is a Frobenius Lie algebra, then for certain $F\in \mathfrak{g}^*$ the natural map $\mathfrak{g}\longrightarrow \mathfrak{g}^* $ given by $x \longmapsto F[x,-]$ is an isomorphism. The inverse image of $F$ under this isomorphism is called a principal element. We show that if $\mathfrak{g}$ is a Frobenius seaweed subalgebra of $A_{n-1}=\mathfrak{sl}(n)$ then the spectrum of the adjoint of a principal element consists of an unbroken set of integers whose multiplicities have a symmetric distribution. Our proof methods are constructive and combinatorial in nature.
A Lie algebra is Frobenius if it admits a linear functional F such that the Kirillov form F([x,y]) is non-degenerate. If g is the m-th maximal parabolic subalgebra P(n,m) of sl(n) this occurs precisely when (n,m) = 1. We define a "cyclic" functional F on P(n,m) and prove it is non-degenerate using properties of certain graphs associated to F. These graphs also provide in some cases readily computable associated solutions of the classical Yang-Baxter equation. We also define a local ring associated to each connected loopless graph from which we show that the graph can be reconstructed. Finally,…
In this paper, we give the definition of isoclinism for regular Hom-Lie algebras and verify some of its properties. Finally, we introduce the factor set and show that the isoclinism and isomorphism of two finite same dimensional regular Hom-Lie algebras are equivalent.
We study so called regular Lie algebras, i.e. Lie algebras in which each nonzero element is regular. We make a connection with an open problem whether any element of reduced trace zero in a simple associative algebra is a commutator.
We fully characterize regular Hom-Lie structures on the incidence algebra $I(X,K)$ of a finite connected poset $X$ over a field $K$. We prove that such a structure is the sum of a central-valued linear map annihilating the Jacobson radical of $I(X,K)$ with the composition of certain inner and multiplicative automorphisms of $I(X,K)$.
In this paper, we show the relation among the relative central extensions in an isoclinism family of a particular relative central extension of Hom-Lie algebras. We define the notion of isoclinism on the central relative extensions of a pair of Hom-Lie algebras. Then, we figure out the concept of isomorphism in the equivalence class of isoclinisms on the central relative extensions of a pair of Hom-Lie algebras.
The aim of this paper is to study the structures of split regular Hom-Lie Rinehart algebras. Let $(L,A)$ be a split regular Hom-Lie Rinehart algebra. We first show that $L$ is of the form $L=U+\sum_{[γ]\inΓ/\thicksim}I_{[γ]}$ with $U$ a vector space complement in $H$ and $I_{[γ]}$ are well described ideals of $L $ satisfying $I_{[γ]},I_{[δ]}=0$ if $I_{[γ]}\neq I_{[δ]}$. Also, we discuss the weight spaces and decompositions of $A$ and present the relation between the decompositions of $L$ and $A$. Finally, we consider the structures of tight split regular Hom-Lie Rinehart algebras.
We introduce the class of split regular Hom-Lie color algebras as the natural generalization of split Lie color algebras. By developing techniques of connections of roots for this kind of algebras, we show that such a split regular Hom-Lie color algebra $L$ is of the form $L = U + \sum\limits_{[j] \in Λ/\sim}I_{[j]}$ with $U$ a subspace of the abelian graded subalgebra $H$ and any $I_{[j]}$, a well described ideal of $L$, satisfying $[I_{[j]}, I_{[k]}] = 0$ if $[j]\neq [k]$. Under certain conditions, in the case of $L$ being of maximal length, the simplicity of the algebra is characterized.
In this paper, first we show that under the assumption of the center of h being zero, diagonal non-abelian extensions of a regular Hom-Lie algebra g by a regular Hom-Lie algebra h are in one-to-one correspondence with Hom-Lie algebra morphisms from g to Out(h). Then for a general Hom-Lie algebra morphism from g to Out(h), we construct a cohomology class as the obstruction of existence of a non-abelian extension that induce the given Hom-Lie algebra morphism.
We introduce and describe the class of split regular $Hom$-Leibniz color $3$-algebras as the natural extension of the class of split Lie algebras, split Leibniz algebras, split Lie $3$-algebras, split Lie triple systems, split Leibniz $3$-algebras, and some other algebras. More precisely, we show that any of such split regular $Hom$-Leibniz color $3$-algebras $T$ is of the form ${T}={\mathcal U} +\sum\limits_{j}I_{j}$, with $\mathcal U$ a subspace of the $0$-root space ${T}_0$, and $I_{j}$ an ideal of $T$ satisfying {for} $j\neq k:$ \[[{ T},I_j,I_k]+[I_j,{ T},I_k]+[I_j,I_k,T]=0.\] Moreover, if…
Results about the following classes of finite-dimensional Lie algebras over a field of characteristic zero are presented: anisotropic (i.e., Lie algebras for which each adjoint operator is semisimple), regular (i.e., Lie algebras in which each nonzero element is regular in the sense of Bourbaki), minimal nonabelian (i.e., nonabelian Lie algebras all whose proper subalgebras are abelian), and algebras of depth 2 (i.e., Lie algebras all whose proper subalgebras are abelian or minimal nonabelian).
After endowing with a 3-Lie-Rinehart structure on Hom 3-Lie algebras, we obtain a class of special Hom 3-Lie algebras, which have close relationships with representations of commutative associative algebras. We provide a special class of Hom 3-Lie-Rinehart algebras, called split regular Hom 3-Lie-Rinehart algebras, and we then characterize their structures by means of root systems and weight systems associated to a splitting Cartan subalgebra.
We generalize Baranov and Shlaka's results about bar-minimal Jordan-Lie and regular inner ideals of finite dimensional associative algebras. Let A be a finite dimensional 1-perfect associative algebras A over an algebraically closed field \mathbb{F} of characteristic p\ge0 and let A' be a subalgebra of A. We prove that for any bar-minimal Jordan-Lie inner ideal B' a A', there is a bar-minimal Jordan-Lie inner ideal of A that contains B' and if B' is regular, then is a regular inner ideal of A that contains B'. We also prove that for any strict orthogonal pair (e',f') in A', there is a strict o…
In this article we will build a universal imbedding of a regular Hom- Lie triple system into a Lie algebra and show that the category of regular Hom-Lie triple systems is equivalent to a full subcategory of pairs of $\mathbb{Z}/2\mathbb{Z}$- graded Lie algebras and Lie algebra automorphism, then finally give some characterizations of this subcategory.
The filiform and the quasi-filiform Lie algebras form a special class of nilpotent Lie algebras. The aim of this paper is to compute the index and provide regular vectors of this two class of nilpotent Lie algebras. we consider the graded filiform Lie algebras $L_{n}$, $Q_{n}$, the $n$-dimensional filiform Lie algebras for $n$ $<8$, also the graded quasi-filiform Lie algebras and finally Lie algebras whose nilradical is $Q_{2n}$.
In the present work the properties of Cartan subalgebras and their connection with regular elements in finite dimensional Lie algebras are extended to the case of Leibniz algebras. It is shown that Cartan subalgebras and regular elements of a Leibniz algebra correspond to Cartan subalgebras and regular elements of a Lie algebra by a natural homomorphism. Conjugacy of Cartan subalgebras of Leibniz algebras is shown.
These lecture notes aim to present the algebraic theory of regularity structures as developed in arXiv:1303.5113, arXiv:1610.08468, and arXiv:1711.10239. The main aim of this theory is to build a systematic approach to renormalisation of singular SPDEs; together with complementary analytic results, these works give a general solution theory for a wide class of semilinear parabolic singular SPDEs in the subcritical regime. We demonstrate how "positive" and "negative" renormalisation can be described using interacting Hopf algebras, and how the renormalised non-linearities in SPDEs can be comput…
We define the notion of hom-Batalin-Vilkovisky algebras and strong differential hom-Gerstenhaber algebras as a special class of hom-Gerstenhaber algebras and provide canonical examples associated to some well-known hom-structures. Representations of a hom-Lie algebroid on a hom-bundle are defined and a cohomology of a regular hom-Lie algebroid with coefficients in a representation is studied. We discuss about relationship between these classes of hom-Gerstenhaber algebras and geometric structures on a vector bundle. As an application, we associate a homology to a regular hom-Lie algebroid and …
