We consider deformations of left-invariant complex structures on simply connected semisimple compact Lie groups which are a priori non-invariant. Computing their cohomologies, we show that they are not actually biholomorphic to left-invariant (right-invariant) complex structures.
We prove that any real Lie group of dimension \leq 5 admits a left invariant flat projective structure. We also prove that a real Lie group L of dimension \leq 5 admits a left invariant flat affine structure if and only if the Lie algebra of L is not perfect.
In this paper, we study deformations of complex structures on Lie algebras and its associated deformations of Dolbeault cohomology classes. A complete deformation of complex structures is constructed in a way similar to the Kuranishi family. The extension isomorphism is shown to be valid in this case. As an application, we prove that given a family of left invariant deformations $\{M_t\}_{t\in B}$ of a compact complex manifold $M=(Γ\setminus G, J)$ where $G$ is a Lie group, $Γ$ a sublattice and $J$ a left invariant complex structure, the set of all $t\in B$ such that the Dolbeault cohomology o…
The $L_\infty$-algebra is an algebraic structure suitable for describing deformation problems. In this paper we construct one $L_\infty$-algebra, which turns out to be a differential graded Lie algebra, to control the deformations of Lie algebroids and a second one to control the deformations of Lie subalgebroids. We also combine these two $L_\infty$-algebras into one to control the simultaneous deformations of a Lie algebroid and its Lie subalgebroids. The results generalize the deformation theory of Lie algebra and Lie subalgebras. Applications of our results include deformations of foliatio…
A VB-algebroid is a vector bundle object in the category of Lie algebroids. We attach to every VB-algebroid a differential graded Lie algebra and we show that it controls deformations of the VB-algebroid structure. Several examples and applications are discussed. This is the first in a series of papers devoted to deformations of vector bundles and related structures over differentiable stacks.
VB-groupoids are vector bundles in the category of Lie groupoids. They encompass several classical objects, including Lie group representations and 2-vector spaces. Moreover, they provide geometric pictures for 2-term representations up to homotopy of Lie groupoids. We attach to every VB-groupoid a cochain complex controlling its deformations and discuss its fundamental features, such as Morita invariance and a van Est theorem. Several examples and applications are given.
The relation between nilmanifolds with left-invariant complex structure and iterated principal holomorphic torus bundles is clarified and we give criteria under which deformations in the large are again of such type. As an application we obtain a fairly complete picture in complex dimension three.
We show that any left invariant metric with harmonic curvature on a solvable Lie group is Ricci-parallel. We show the same result for any Lie group of dimension $\leq$ 6.
We show that representations up to homotopy can be differentiated in a functorial way. A van Est type isomorphism theorem is established and used to prove a conjecture of Crainic and Moerdijk on deformations of Lie brackets.
We call a connected Lie group endowed with a left-invariant Lorentzian flat metric Lorentzian flat Lie group. In this Note, we determine all Lorentzian flat Lie groups admitting a timelike left-invariant Killing vector field. We show that these Lie groups are 2-solvable and unimodular and hence geodesically complete. Moreover, we show that a Lorentzian flat Lie group $(\mathrm{G},μ)$ admits a timelike left-invariant Killing vector field if and only if $\mathrm{G}$ admits a left-invariant Riemannian metric which has the same Levi-Civita connection of $μ$. Finally, we give an useful characteriza…
In this paper, we classify Left-invariant Ricci collineations associated to canonical connections and Kobayashi-Nomizu connections on three-dimensional Lorentzian Lie groups.
To determine the Lie groups that admit a flat (eventually complete) left invariant semi-Riemannian metric is an open and difficult problem. The main aim of this paper is the study of the flatness of left invariant semi Riemannian metrics on quadratic Lie groups i.e. Lie groups endowed with a bi-invariant semi Riemannian metric. We give a useful necessary and sufficient condition that guaranties the flatness of a left invariant semi Riemannian metric defined on a quadratic Lie group. All these semi Riemannian metrics are complete. We show that there are no Riemannian or Lorentzian flat left inv…
Historically tensor calculus emerged in an attempt to formalize Rie- mann's ideas. We show that tensor calculus can be based also on Lie's idea of a transformation group and this approach leads quite naturally to the concept of deformation of a transformation group and the Kodaira- Spencer map.
We study deformations of Lie groupoids by means of the cohomology which controls them. This cohomology turns out to provide an intrinsic model for the cohomology of a Lie groupoid with values in its adjoint representation. We prove several fundamental properties of the deformation cohomology including Morita invariance, a van Est theorem, and a vanishing result in the proper case. Combined with Moser's deformation arguments for groupoids, we obtain several rigidity and normal form results.
We find the index of symmetry for all solvable three-dimensional Lie groups with a left-invariant metric. When combined with the work of Reggiani on unimodular three-dimensional Lie groups, the index of symmetry is then known for all three-dimensional Lie groups with a left-invariant metric. Similar to the unimodular case, for every solvable three-dimensional Lie algebra there is at least one left-invariant metric for which the index of symmetry is positive. Also, the index is never equal to 2.
In this paper, we shall use a method based on the theory of extensions of left-symmetric algebras to classify complete left-invariant affine real structures on solvable non-unimodular three-dimensional Lie groups.
We define a morphism from the deformation complex of a Lie groupoid to the Hochschild complex of its convolution algebra, and show that it maps the class of a geometric deformation to the algebraic class of the induced deformation in Hochschild cohomology. Applied to the adiabatic groupoid, we show that the van Est map to deformation cohomology of Lie algebroids is induced by taking the classical limit of a quantization map on the dual of the Lie algebroid.
In the presented paper left-invariant pseudo-Riemannian metrics on four-dimensional Lie groups with zero Schouten-Weyl tensor are investigated. The complete classification of these metric Lie groups is obtained in terms of the structure constants of corresponding Lie algebras.
In this paper, we formulate a procedure to obtain a generalization of Milnor frames for left-invariant pseudo-Riemannian metrics on a given Lie group. This procedure is an analogue of the recent studies on left-invariant Riemannian metrics, and is based on the moduli space of left-invariant pseudo-Riemannian metrics. As one of applications, we show that any left-invariant pseudo-Riemannian metrics of arbitrary signature on the Lie groups of real hyperbolic spaces have constant sectional curvatures.
We introduce a new cohomology for Lie algebroids, and prove that it provides a differential graded Lie algebra which ``controls'' deformations of the structure bracket of the algebroid. We also have a closer look at various special cases such as Lie algebras, Poisson manifolds, foliations, Lie algebra actions on manifolds.
In this paper, we present the classification of all possible signatures of the Ricci curvature of left-invariant Riemannian metrics on 4-dimensional Lie groups and discuss some related questions.
The space $\mathcal{Z}$ of leftinvariant orthogonal almost complex structures, keeping the orientation, on 6-dimensional Lie groups is researched. To get explicit view of this space elements the isomorphism of $\mathcal{Z}$ and $\mathbb{C}P^3$ is used. The explicit formula for arbitrary leftinvariant orthogonal almost complex structure on 6-dimensional Lie group as composition of rotations is found.
We find three-dimensional subspaces of four-dimensional connected Lie algebras, generating these algebras, and abnormal extremals on connected Lie groups with these Lie algebras and with left-invariant sub-Finsler quasimetrics defined by seminorms on such subspaces. In terms of the structure constants of Lie algebras and dual seminorms, we establish a criterion for the strong abnormality of these extremals.
For all left-invariant Riemannian metrics on three-dimensional unimodular Lie groups, there exist particular left-invariant orthonormal frames, so-called Milnor frames. In this paper, for any left-invariant Riemannian metrics on any Lie groups, we give a procedure to obtain an analogous of Milnor frames, in the sense that the bracket relations among them can be written with relatively smaller number of parameters. Our procedure is based on the moduli space of left-invariant Riemannian metrics. Some explicit examples of such frames and applications will also be given.
We give a complete classification of left invariant generalized complex structures of type 1 on four dimensional simply connected Lie groups and we compute for each class its invariant generalized Dolbeault cohomology, its invariant generalized Bott-Chern cohomology and its invariant generalized Aeppli cohomology. We classify also left invariant generalized Kähler structures on four dimensional simply connected Lie groups.
We study the triple $(G,π,\prs)$ where $G$ is a connected and simply connected Lie group, $π$ and $\prs$ are, respectively, a multiplicative Poisson tensor and a left invariant Riemannian metric on $G$ such that the necessary conditions, introduced by Hawkins, to the existence of a non commutative deformation (in the direction of $π$) of the spectrale triple associated to $\prs$ are satisfied. We show that the geometric problem of the classification of such triple $(G,π,\prs)$ is equivalent to an algebraic one. We solve this algebraic problem in low dimensions and we give the list of all $(G,π…
Abnormal extremals on four-dimensional connected Lie groups with left-invariant sub-Finsler quasimetric, defined by a seminorm on a two-dimensional subspace of the Lie algebra generating the algebra, are found. In terms of structure constant of Lie algebra and supporting Minkowski function for the unit ball of seminorm on two-dimensional subspace of Lie algebra, defining a quasimetric, we establish a criterion for strict abnormality of these extremals.
We show that a left invariant metric on a compact Lie group $G$ which is obtained by stretching a biinvariant metric in the direction of a subalgebra $\h$ of $\g$ always has some negative sectional curvature, unless the semi-simple part of $\h$ is an ideal of $\g$.
In this letter, first we give a decomposition for any Lie-Poisson structure $π_g$ associated to the modular vector. In particular, $π_g$ splits into two compatible Lie-Poisson structures if $dim{g} \leq 3$. As an application, we classified quadratic deformations of Lie-Poisson structures on $\mathbb R^3$ up to linear diffeomorphisms.
A compact semisimple Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ induces a Poisson structure $π$ on the unit sphere $S$ in $\mathfrak{g}^*$. We compute the moduli space of Poisson structures on $S$ around $π$. This is the first explicit computation of a Poisson moduli space in dimension greater or equal than three around a degenerate (i.e. not symplectic) Poisson structure.
We provide techniques for studying the nonnegatively curved left-invariant metrics on a compact Lie group. For "straight" paths of left-invariant metrics starting at bi-invariant metrics and ending at nonnegatively curved metrics, we deduce a nonnegativity property of the initial derivative of curvature. We apply this result to obtain a partial classification of the nonnegatively curved left-invariant metrics on SO(4).
We give a coadjoint orbit's diffeomorphic deformation between the classical semisimple case and the semi-direct product given by a Cartan decomposition. The two structures admit the Hermitian symplectic form defined in a semisimple complex Lie algebra. We provide some applications such as the constructions of Lagrangian submanifolds.
Let $G$ be a simply connected, solvable Lie group and $Γ$ a lattice in $G$. The deformation space $\mathcal{D}(Γ,G)$ is the orbit space associated to the action of $\Aut(G)$ on the space $\mathcal{X}(Γ,G)$ of all lattice embeddings of $Γ$ into $G$. Our main result generalises the classical rigidity theorems of Mal'tsev and Saitô for lattices in nilpotent Lie groups and in solvable Lie groups of real type. We prove that the deformation space of every Zariski-dense lattice $Γ$ in $G$ is finite and Hausdorff, provided that the maximal nilpotent normal subgroup of $G$ is connected. This implies th…
For any Lie algebroid A, its 1-jet bundle JA is a Lie algebroid naturally and there is a representation π: JA ->DA. Denote by dJ the corresponding coboundary operator. In this paper, we realize the deformation cohomology of a Lie algebroid A introduced by M. Crainic and I. Moerdijk as the cohomology of a subcomplex (Γ(Hom(^\bulletJA,A)DA), dJ) of the cochain complex (Γ(Hom(^\bulletJA,A)), dJ).
Given a Lie algebroid with a representation, we construct a graded Lie algebra whose Maurer-Cartan elements characterize relative Rota-Baxter operators on Lie algebroids. We give the cohomology of relative Rota-Baxter operators and study infinitesimal deformations and extendability of order $n$ deformations to order $n+1$ deformations of relative Rota-Baxter operators in terms of this cohomology theory. We also construct a graded Lie algebra on the space of multi-derivations of a vector bundle whose Maurer-Cartan elements characterize left-symmetric algebroids. We show that there is a homomorp…
We give a complete classification of left invariant para-Kähler structures on four-dimensional simply connected Lie groups up to an automorphism. As an application we discuss some curvatures properties of the canonical connection associated to these structures as flat, Ricci flat and existence of Ricci solitons.
A Lie 2-group $G$ is a category internal to the category of Lie groups. Consequently it is a monoidal category and a Lie groupoid. The Lie groupoid structure on $G$ gives rise to the Lie 2-algebra $\mathbb{X}(G)$ of multiplicative vector fields, see (Berwick-Evans -- Lerman). The monoidal structure on $G$ gives rise to a left action of the 2-group $G$ on the Lie groupoid $G$, hence to an action of $G$ on the Lie 2-algebra $\mathbb{X}(G)$. As a result we get the Lie 2-algebra $\mathbb{X}(G)^G$ of left-invariant multiplicative vector fields. On the other hand there is a well-known construction t…
We present explicit universal strict deformation quantization formulae for actions of Iwasawa subgroups AN of SU(1,n). This answers a question raised by Rieffel.
We determine all Ricci flat left invariant Lorentzian metrics on simply connected 2-step nilpotent Lie groups. We show that the $2k+1$-dimensional Heisenberg Lie group $H_{2k+1}$ carries a Ricci flat left invariant Lorentzian metric if and only if $k=1$. We show also that for any $2\leq q\leq k$, $H_{2k+1}$ carries a Ricci flat left invariant pseudo-Riemannian metric of signature $(q,2k+1-q)$ and we give explicite examples of such metrics.
The notion of quantum algebras is merged with that of Lie systems in order to establish a new formalism called Poisson-Hopf algebra deformations of Lie systems. The procedure can be naturally applied to Lie systems endowed with a symplectic structure, the so-called Lie-Hamilton systems. This is quite a general approach, as it can be applied to any quantum deformation and any underlying manifold. One of its main features is that, Lie systems are extended to generalized systems described by involutive distributions. In this way, we obtain their new generalized (deformed) counterparts that cover,…
A special symplectic Lie group is a triple $(G,ω,\nabla)$ such that $G$ is a finite-dimensional real Lie group and $ω$ is a left invariant symplectic form on $G$ which is parallel with respect to a left invariant affine structure $\nabla$. In this paper starting from a special symplectic Lie group we show how to ``deform" the standard Lie group structure on the (co)tangent bundle through the left invariant affine structure $\nabla$ such that the resulting Lie group admits families of left invariant hypersymplectic structures and thus becomes a hypersymplectic Lie group. We consider the affine …
