We apply the cluster-folding (CF) model for $\vec{p}+^{6}$He scattering at 200 MeV, where the potential between $\vec{p}$ and $^{4}$He is fitted to data on $\vec{p}+^{4}$He scattering at 200 MeV. For $\vec{p}+^{6}$He scattering at 200 MeV, the CF model reproduces measured differential cross section with no free parameter, We then predict the analyzing power $A_y(q)$ with the CF model, where $q$ is the transfer momentum. Johnson, Al-Khalili and Tostevin construct a theory for one-neutron halo scattering, taking (1) the adiabatic approximation and (2) neglecting the interaction between a valence neutron and a target, and yield a simple relationship between the elastic scattering of a halo nucleus and of its core under certain conditions. We improve their theory with (3) the eikonal approximation in order to determine $A_y(q)$ for $^{6}$He from the data on $A_y(q)$ for $^{4}$He. The improved theory is accurate, when approximation (1)--(3) are good. Among the three approximations, approximation (2) is most essential. The CF model shows that approximation (2) is good in $0.9 < q < 2.4$ fm$^{-1}$. In the improved theory, the $A_y(q)$ for $^{6}$He is the same as that for $^{4}$He. In $0.9 < q < 2.4$ fm$^{-1}$, we then predict $A_y(q)$ for $\vec{p}+^{6}$He scattering at 200 MeV from measured $A_y(q)$ for $\vec{p}+^{4}$He scattering at 200 MeV. We thus predict $A_y(q)$ with the model-dependent and the model-independent prescription. The ratio of differential cross sections measured for $^{6}$He to that for $^{4}$He is related to the wave function of $^{6}$He. We then determine the radius between $^{4}$He and the center-of-mass of valence two neutrons in $^{6}$He. The radius is 5.77 fm.
Angular distributions for elastic and inelastic scattering of $^3$He from $^{12}$C were measured at energies 50.5 and 60 MeV. The Airy minimum of the prerainbow scattering was clearly observed in the angular distributions for the 0$_2^+$ (7.65 MeV) state of $^{12}$C (Hoyle state). The experimental results were analyzed with a coupled channels method with double folding potentials derived from the microscopic wave functions for the ground 0$_1^+$, 2$^+$ (4.44 MeV), 3$^-$ (9.64 MeV) and 0$_2^+$ states. The analysis supports the view that the Hoyle state is a three alpha particle condensate with …
New precise unpolarised differential cross sections of deuteron-proton elastic scattering have been measured at 16 different deuteron beam momenta between $p_d = 3120.17\;\textrm{MeV}/c$ and $p_d =3204.16\;\textrm{MeV}/c$ at the COoler SYnchrotron COSY of the Forschungszentrum Jülich. The data, which were taken using the magnetic spectrometer ANKE, cover the equivalent range in proton kinetic energies from $T_p = 882.2\;\textrm{MeV}$ to $T_p = 918.3\;\textrm{MeV}$. The experimental results are analysed theoretically using the Glauber diffraction model with accurate nucleon-nucleon input. The t…
Proton-${}^3$H elastic scattering and charge-exchange reaction ${}^3$H$(p,n){}^3$He in the energy regime above four-nucleon breakup threshold are described in the momentum-space transition operator framework. Fully converged results are obtained using realistic two-nucleon potentials and two-proton Coulomb force as dynamic input. Differential cross section, proton analyzing power, outgoing neutron polarization, and proton-to-neutron polarization transfer coefficients are calculated between 6 and 30 MeV proton beam energy. Good agreement with the experimental data is found for the differential …
Vector analyzing powers for proton elastic scattering from 8He at 71 MeV/nucleon have been measured using a solid polarized proton target operated in a low magnetic field of 0.1 T. The spin-orbit potential obtained from a phenomenological optical model analysis is found to be significantly shallower and more diffuse than the global systematics of stable nuclei, which is an indication that the spin-orbit potential is modified for scattering involving neutron-rich nuclei. A close similarity between the matter radius and the root-mean-square radius of the spin-orbit potential is also identified.
The differential cross sections and analyzing powers from the elastic scattering of 25 and 40 MeV protons from many nuclei have been studied. Analyses have been made using a fully microscopic model of proton-nucleus scattering seeking to establish a means appropriate for use in analyses of radioactive beam scattering from hydrogen with ion energies 25A and 40A MeV.
We present calculations of deuteron elastic and inelastic breakup cross sections and angular distributions at deuteron energies below 100 MeV obtained using the post-form DWBA approximation. The elastic breakup cross section was extensively studied in the past. Very few calculations of inelastic breakup have been performed, however. We also analyze the angular momentum - energy distributions of the cross section for formation of the compound nucleus after inelastic breakup.
The nuclear scattering at energies well above the Coulomb barrier allows for a fairly sensitive examination of the parameters of the optical potential when the relevant couplings are included into the calculations. In this work we present experimental angular distribution data for the elastic and inelastic scatterings of $^{16}$O impinging on $^{27}$Al and $^{28}$Si target nuclei at \textit{E}$_{lab}=240$ MeV. The experimental data were measured at $7\degree < θ_{c.m.} < 16\degree$ with good angular resolution. Experimental data are compared with coupled channel calculations with the inclusion…
We study the elastic scattering of polarized protons from He isotopes. The central and spin-orbit parts of the optical potential are derived using the Glauber theory that can naturally take account of the breakup effect of the He isotopes. Both the differential cross section and the vector analyzing power for $p+^{4,6,8}$He scattering at 71 MeV are in reasonable agreement with experiment. Scattering observables at 300 MeV are predicted. The Pauli blocking effect is examined at 71 MeV.
The elastic and inelastic scattering of $^7$Be from $^{12}$C have been measured at an incident energy of 35 MeV. The inelastic scattering leading to the 4.439 MeV excited state of $^{12}$C has been measured for the first time. The experimental data cover an angular range of $θ_{cm}$ = 15$^{\circ}$-120$^{\circ}$. Optical model analyses were carried out with Woods-Saxon and double-folding potential using the density dependent M3Y (DDM3Y) effective interaction. The microscopic analysis of the elastic data indicates breakup channel coupling effect. A coupled-channel analysis of the inelastic scatt…
An energy-dependent and a set of single-energy partial-wave analyses of $π$d elastic scattering data have been completed. Amplitudes are presented for pion laboratory kinetic energies up to 500~MeV. These results are compared with those found in other recent analyses. We comment on the present database and make suggestions for future work. ( Figures are available from the authors upon request. )
The neutron density distributions and neutron skin thicknesses in $^{40,48}$Ca are determined from the angular distributions of the cross sections and analyzing powers of polarized proton elastic scattering at $E_p = 295$ MeV. Based on the framework of the relativistic impulse approximation with the density-dependent effective $NN$ interaction, the experimental data is successfully analyzed, providing precise information of neutron and proton density profiles of $^{40,48}$Ca with small uncertainties. The extracted neutron and proton density distributions give neutron skin thicknesses in $^{40,…
The vector analyzing power has been measured for the elastic scattering of neutron-rich 6He from polarized protons at 71 MeV/nucleon making use of a newly constructed solid polarized proton target operated in a low magnetic field and at high temperature. Two approaches based on local one-body potentials were applied to investigate the spin-orbit interaction between a proton and a 6He nucleus. An optical model analysis revealed that the spin-orbit potential for 6He is characterized by a shallow and long-ranged shape compared with the global systematics of stable nuclei. A semimicroscopic analys…

We present the results of a calculation of differential cross sections and polarization observables for proton-deuteron elastic scattering, for proton laboratory energies from 2.5 to 22.5 MeV. The Paris potential parametrisation of the nuclear force is used. As solution method for the charged-composite particle equations the 'screening and renormalisation approach' is adopted which allows to correctly take into account the Coulomb repulsion between the two protons. Comparison is made with the precise experimental data of Sagara et al. [Phys. Rev. C 50, 576 (1994)] and of Sperison et al. [Nucl.…
The elastic resonance scattering protons decayed from $^{11}$B to the ground state of $^{10}$Be were measured using the thick-target technique in inverse kinematics at the Heavy Ion Research Facility in Lanzhou (HIRFL). The obtained excitation functions were well described by a multichannel R-matrix procedure under the kinematics process assumption of resonant elastic scattering. The excitation energy of the resonant states ranges from 13.0 to 17.0 MeV, and their resonant parameters such as the resonant energy E$_{x}$, the spin-parity J$^π$, and the proton-decay partial width $Γ_p$ were determ…
The experimental data on elastic and inelastic scattering of 270 MeV 3He particles to several low lying states in 90Zr, 116Sn and 208Pb are analyzed within the double folding model (DFM). Fermi density distribution (FDD) of target nuclei is used to obtain real potentials with different powers. DF results are introduced into modified DWUCK4 code to calculate the elastic and inelastic scattering cross sections. Two choices of potentials form factors; Woods Saxon (WS) and Woods Saxon Squared (WS2) for real potential are used, while the imaginary part is taken as phenomenological Woods Saxon (PWS)…
We investigate the property of the high-density nuclear matter probed by the nucleus-nucleus elastic scattering in the framework of the double-folding (DF) model with the complex $G$-matrix interaction. The medium effect including three-body-force (TBF) effect is investigated with present two methods based on the frozen density approximation (FDA). The medium effect is clearly seen on the potential and the elastic cross section for the $^{16}$O + $^{16}$O system at $E/A =$ 70 MeV. The crucial role of the medium effect is also confirmed with other effective nucleon-nucleon ($NN$) interactions. …
Relativistic corrections to the reaction kinematic parameters were made for elastic scattering of \nuc{6}{Li}, \nuc{12}{C} and \nuc{40}{Ar} from \nuc{40}{Ca}, \nuc{90}{Zr}, and \nuc{208}{Pb} targets at incident energies between 20 and 100 MeV/nucleon. Results of optical model calculations show that the effects of such corrections are important in describing the angular distributions of elastic scattering cross sections for heavy ion scattering at incident energies as low as around 40 MeV/nucleon. The effects on the total reaction cross sections on the other hand, were found to be small within …
High partial waves for $pp$ and $np$ elastic scattering are examined critically from 210 to 800 MeV. Non-OPE contributions are compared with predictions from theory. There are some discrepancies, but sufficient agreement that values of the $πNN$ coupling constants $g_0^2$ for $π^0$ exchange and $g^2_{c}$ for charged $π$ exchange can be derived. Results are $g^2_0 = 13.91 \pm 0.13 \pm 0.07$ and $g^2_c = 13.69 \pm 0.15 \pm 0.24$, where the first error is statistical and the second is an estimate of the likely systematic error, arising mostly from uncertainties in the normalisation of total cross…
Basing on the kwon experimental measurements of differential cross sections on n3He elastic scattering in the angular energy range 200 - 1600 the standard phase shifts analysis was performed at the energies from 1 MeV up to 5 MeV.
Background: The influence of halo structure of $^6$He, $^8$B, $^{11}$Be and $^{11}$Li nuclei in several mechanisms such as direct reactions and fusion is already established, although not completely understood. The influence of the $^{10}$C Brunnian structure is less known. Purpose: To investigate the influence of the cluster configuration of $^{10}$C on the elastic scattering at an energy close to the Coulomb barrier. Methods: We present experimental data for the elastic scattering of the $^{10}$C+$^{208}$Pb system at $E_{\rm lab}$ = 66 MeV. The data are compared to the three- and the four-bo…
Coulomb corrections for quasi-elastic scattering of electrons by nuclei are calculated using eikonal distorted waves. Corrections to the lowest-order eikonal approximation are included in order to obtain accurate results. Spin-dependent eikonal phase shifts are evaluated and they yield very small corrections to the longitudinal and transverse cross sections at electron energies of 500 MeV or higher. Because of this the Rosenbluth procedure is accurate for separation of the longitudinal and transverse response functions. The effective-momentum approximation is also found to be accurate with reg…
We examine neutral-current quasi-elastic neutrino-nucleus reactions on $^{12}$C and $^{208}$Pb targets. We use the relativistic mean field theory approach to describe the nuclear dynamics. We compute the cross sections for the scattering of 150-MeV, 500-MeV and 1000-MeV neutrinos on a $^{12}$C target and study the effect of the strange-quark content of the nucleon which appears in these reactions via the isoscalar weak current. We compare our results with the data of the MiniBooNE experiment for mineral oil (CH$_2$). We also calculate the cross section for the quasi-elastic neutron knockout re…
We present the first study to examine the validity of the relativistic impulse approximation (RIA) for describing elastic proton-nucleus scattering at incident laboratory kinetic energies lower than 200 MeV. For simplicity we choose a $^{208}$Pb target, which is a spin-saturated spherical nucleus for which reliable nuclear structure models exist. Microscopic scalar and vector optical potentials are generated by folding invariant scalar and vector scattering nucleon-nucleon (NN) amplitudes, based on our recently developed relativistic meson-exchange model, with Lorentz scalar and vector densiti…
Background: Double charge exchange (DCE) nuclear reactions have recently attracted much interest as tools to provide experimentally driven information about nuclear matrix elements of interest in the context of neutrinoless double-beta decay. In this framework, a good description of the reaction mechanism and a complete knowledge of the initial and final-state interactions are mandatory. Presently, not enough is known about the details of the optical potentials and nuclear response to isospin operators for many of the projectile-target systems proposed for future DCE studies. Among these, the …
A simple technique is described that provides an improved nearside-farside (NF) method for elastic scattering amplitudes. The technique, involving the novel resummation of a Legendre partial wave series, reduces the importance of unphysical contributions to NF subamplitudes, which can arise in more conventional NF decompositions. Detailed applications are made to a strong absorption model and to a ^{16}O + ^{16}O optical potential at E_{lab} = 145 MeV. We also discuss ^{16}O + ^{16}O at E_{lab} = 480, 704, 1120 MeV, and alpha + ^{12}C, alpha + ^{40}Ca, both at E_{lab} = 1370 MeV.
Using coupled-cluster theory and interactions from chiral effective field theory, we compute overlap functions for transfer and scattering of low-energy protons on the target nucleus 40-Ca. Effects of three-nucleon forces are included phenomenologically as in-medium two-nucleon interactions. Using known asymptotic forms for one-nucleon overlap functions we derive a simple and intuitive way of computing scattering observables such as elastic scattering phase shifts and cross sections. As a first application and proof-of-principle, we compute phase shifts and differential interaction cross secti…
Various spin observables (analyzing powers and spin-correlation parameters) in $pd$ elastic scattering at $T_p = 800-1000$ MeV are analyzed within the framework of the refined Glauber model. The theoretical model uses as input spin-dependent $NN$ amplitudes obtained from the most recent partial-wave analysis and also takes into account the deuteron $D$ wave and charge-exchange effects. Predictions of the refined Glauber model are compared with the existing experimental data. Reasonable agreement between the theoretical calculations and experimental data at low momentum transfers $|t| \lesssim …
We extract the antikaon potential from differential data on elastic $K^-A$ scattering within Glauber theory at an antikaon momentum of 800 MeV/c. The $K^-N$ cross section at densities up to 0.1 $fm^3$ is found to be close to the value given in free space $K^-p$ and $K^-n$ interactions (averaged over the number of protons and neutrons) whereas the ratio $α$ of the real to imaginary part of the forward scattering amplitude $f(0)$ differs from the ratio $α$ in free space indicating a dropping of $Re f(0)$ at finite nuclear density. The extrapolated $K^-$ potential at a momentum of 0.8 GeV/c amoun…
Background: Theoretical calculations of the four-particle scattering above the four-cluster breakup threshold are technically very difficult due to nontrivial singularities or boundary conditions. Further complications arise when the long-range Coulomb force is present. Purpose: We aim at calculating proton-${}^3$He elastic scattering observables above three- and four-cluster breakup threshold. Methods: We employ Alt, Grassberger, and Sandhas (AGS) equations for the four-nucleon transition operators and solve them in the momentum-space framework using the complex-energy method whose accuracy a…
We present a new procedure which enables to extract a scattering matrix $S(l)$ as a complex function of angular momentum directly from the scattering data, without any a priori model assumptions implied. The key ingredient of the procedure is the evolutionary algorithm with diffused mutation which evolves the population of the scattering matrices, via their smooth deformations, from the primary arbitrary analytical $S(l)$ shapes to the final ones giving high quality fits to the data. Due to the automatic monitoring of the scattering matrix derivatives, the final $S(l)$ shapes are monotonic and…
For the determination of the $^{144}Sm-α$ optical potential we measured the angular distribution of $^{144}Sm(α,α)^{144}Sm$ scattering at the energy $E_{lab} = 20 MeV$ with high accuracy. Using the known systematics of $α$-nucleus optical potentials we are able to derive the $^{144}Sm-α$ optical potential at the astrophysically relevant energy $E_{c.m.} = 9.5 MeV$ with very limited uncertainties.
The first study of resonances in $^{17}$O+$α$ elastic scattering was carried out using the Thick Target Inverse Kinematics (TTIK) method. The data were analyzed in the framework of an $\textit{R}$-matrix approach. Many $α$-cluster states were found in the $^{21}$Ne excitation region of the 9-13 MeV excitation energy including the first observation of a broad $\textit{l}$=0 state in an odd-even nucleus, which is likely the analog of the broad 0$^+$ at 8 MeV in $^{20}$Ne. The observed structure in $^{21}$Ne appeared to be strikingly similar to that in $^{20}$Ne populated in the resonance $^{16}$…
New experimental results for the elastic scattering of 6He on 64Zn at incident energies of 15.0 and 18.0 MeV and 4He at 17.5 MeV along with results already published at 10.0 and 13.6 MeV, are presented. Elastic and alpha experimental cross sections are compared with coupled-reaction-channel, continuum-discretized coupledchannel, and DWBA inclusive-breakup models. The large yield of alpha particles observed at all measured energies can be explained by considering a nonelastic breakup mechanism.
The results of new experimental measurements of p16O elastic scattering in the energy range of 0.6-1.0 MeV at angles of 40-160 deg. are given. Phase shift analysis of p16O elastic scattering was made using these and other experimental data on differential cross sections in excitation functions and angular distributions at energies of up to 2.5 MeV.
Comparisons are made between results of calculations for intermediate energy nucleon-nucleus scattering for 12C, 16O, 40Ca, 90Zr, and 208Pb, using optical potentials obtained from global Dirac phenomenology and from a microscopic Schrödinger model. Differential cross sections and spin observables for scattering from the set of five nuclei at 65 MeV and 200 MeV have been studied to assess the relative merits of each approach. Total reaction cross sections from proton-nucleus and total cross sections from neutron-nucleus scattering have been evaluated and compared with data for those five target…
The proton-proton parity-violating longitudinal asymmetry is calculated in the lab-energy range 0--350 MeV, using a number of different, latest-generation strong-interaction potentials--Argonne V18, Bonn-2000, and Nijmegen-I--in combination with a weak-interaction potential consisting of rho- and omega-meson exchanges--the model known as DDH. The complete scattering problem in the presence of parity-conserving, including Coulomb, and parity-violating potentials is solved in both configuration- and momentum-space. The predicted parity-violating asymmetries are found to be only weakly dependent …
Fully converged calculations of deuteron-deuteron elastic scattering observables are performed at energies above three- and four-body breakup threshold. Differential cross sections and analyzing powers are obtained using realistic nucleon-nucleon force models together with the Coulomb repulsion between protons. For all observables we find a very reasonable agreement with the available experimental data limited to deuteron beam energies up to 25.3 MeV.
Background: Effective interactions for nucleon-nucleus ($NA$) elastic scattering from first principles require the use of the same nucleon-nucleon ($NN$) interaction in the structure and reaction calculations, and a consistent treatment of the relevant operators at each order. Purpose: Truncation uncertainties of chiral $NN$ forces have been studied for scattering observables in few-body systems and for bound state properties of light nuclei. We extend this to $NA$ elastic scattering. Methods: With the spectator expansion of multiple scattering theory and the no-core shell model, we use a chir…
The deuteron-proton elastic scattering has been studied in the multiple scattering expansion formalism. The essential attention has been given to such relativistic problem as a deuteron wave function in a moving frame and transformation of spin states due to Wigner rotation. Parameterization of the nucleon-nucleon $t$-matrix has been used to take the off-energy shell effects into account. The vector, $A_y,$ and tensor, $A_{yy}$, analyzing powers of the deuteron have been calculated at two deuteron kinetic energies: 395 MeV and 1200 MeV. The obtained results are compared with the experimental d…
The neutron-proton effective $k$-mass splitting in asymmetric nucleonic matter of isospin asymmetry $δ$ and normal density is found to be $m^{*}_{n-p}\equiv(m^{*}_{n}-m^{*}_{p})/m=(0.41 \pm0.15)δ$ from analyzing globally 1088 sets of reaction and angular differential cross sections of proton elastic scattering on 130 targets with beam energies from 0.783 MeV to 200 MeV, and 1161 sets of data of neutron elastic scattering on 104 targets with beam energies from 0.05 MeV to 200 MeV within an isospin dependent non-relativistic optical potential model. It sets a useful reference for testing model p…
Herein, we investigated the channel coupling (CC) effect on the elastic scatterings of lithium (Li) isotopes ($A =$ 6--9) for the $^{12}$C and $^{28}$Si targets at $E/A =$ 50--60 MeV. The wave functions of the Li isotopes were obtained using the stochastic multi-configuration mixing (SMCM) method based on the microscopic-cluster model. The proton radii of the $^{7}$Li, $^{8}$Li, and $^{9}$Li nuclei became smaller as the number of valence neutrons increased. The valence neutrons in the $^{8}$Li and $^{9}$Li nuclei exhibited a glue-like behavior, thereby attracting the $α$ and $t$ clusters. Base…
An approach to calculate microscopic optical potential (OP) with the real part obtained by a folding procedure and with the imaginary part inherent in the high-energy approximation (HEA) is applied to study the $^8$He+p elastic scattering data at energies of tens of MeV/nucleon (MeV/N). The neutron and proton density distributions obtained in different models for $^{8}$He are utilized in the calculations of the differential cross sections. The role of the spin-orbit potential is studied. Comparison of the calculations with the available experimental data on the elastic scattering differential …
The influence of the energy dependence of the free NN t-matrix on the optical potential of nucleon-nucleus elastic scattering is investigated within the context of a full-folding model based on the impulse approximation. The treatment of the pole structure of the NN t-matrix, which has to be taken into account when integrating to negative energies is described in detail. We calculate proton-nucleus elastic scattering observables for $^{16}$O, $^{40}$Ca, and $^{208}$Pb between 65 and 200 MeV laboratory energy and study the effect of the energy dependence of the NN t-matrix. We compare this resu…
The R- and K-matrix parametrizations are analyzed and compared for the elastic alpha-alpha scattering at center-of-mass energies below 40 MeV. The two parametrizations differ in their definitions of the resonance energy which can lead to quite different results. The physical values of the best-fit parameters are compared with those computed for a potential model. The existence of a broad resonance near 9 MeV is not supported by the data or by the potential model. We discuss the positive and negative aspects for both parametrizations.
Background The nuclear structure of the cluster bands in $^{20}$Ne presents a challenge for different theoretical approaches. It is especially difficult to explain the broad 0$^+$, 2$^+$ states at 9 MeV excitation energy. Simultaneously, it is important to obtain more reliable experimental data for these levels in order to quantitatively assess the theoretical framework. Purpose To obtain new data on $^{20}$Ne $α$ cluster structure. Method Thick target inverse kinematics technique was used to study the $^{16}$O+$α$ resonance elastic scattering and the data were analyzed using an \textit{R} mat…
MiniBooNE charge current quasi-elastic double differential cross section data are analyzed and confronted with predictions of two theoretical nucleus models: Fermi gas and spectral function. The fitting procedure includes the overall flux uncertainty multiplicative factor. In order to obtain a reliable value of the axial mass, bins with large contribution from small momentum transfer are eliminated from the analysis. It is shown that the best fit axial mass value becomes smaller as the momentum transfer cut is more restrictive. For $q_{cut}=500$~MeV/c the obtained values of axial mass are $M_A…
The existence of a supernumerary nuclear rainbow in inelastic scattering is reported. This is done by studying inelastic $^{16}$O scattering from $^{12}$C, exciting the $2^+$ (4.44 MeV) state of $^{12}$C and elastic scattering at the incident energies in the range 124 to 200 MeV, using the coupled channels method. An extended double folding potential is used. This is derived from realistic wave functions for $^{12}$C and $^{16}$O calculated with a microscopic $α$ cluster model and a finite-range density-dependent nucleon-nucleon force. Excitations to the $2^+$ (4.44 MeV), 3$^-$ (9.64 MeV) and …
In this study, the angular distribution of the 16O+10B elastic scattering was measured at Elab (16O)= 24 MeV. In addition to our experimental data, this nuclear system was theoretically analyzed at different energies to study the dynamics of scattering for this system. The data were analyzed within the framework of the double-folding optical potential model.
Based on the isospin-dependent Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck transport model and the scaling model according to nucleon effective mass, effects of elastic and inelastic NN scattering cross sections on pion-/pion+ in the neutron-rich reaction of Ca48+Ca48 at a beam energy of 400 MeV/nucleon are studied. It is found that cross-section effects of both NN elastic and inelastic scatterings affect Delta_1232, pion- and pion+ production, as well as the value of pion-/pion+.
Microscopic calculations of four-body collisions become very challenging in the energy regime above the threshold for four free particles. The neutron-${}^3$He scattering is an example of such process with elastic, rearrangement, and breakup channels. We aim to calculate observables for elastic and inelastic neutron-${}^3$He reactions up to 30 MeV neutron energy using realistic nuclear force models. We solve the Alt, Grassberger, and Sandhas (AGS) equations for the four-nucleon transition operators in the momentum-space framework. The complex-energy method with special integration weights is a…
Two independent calculations of proton-deuteron elastic scattering observables including Coulomb repulsion between the two protons are compared in the proton lab energy region between 3 MeV and 65 MeV. The hadron dynamics is based on the purely nucleonic charge-dependent AV18 potential. Calculations are done both in coordinate space and momentum space. The coordinate-space calculations are based on a variational solution of the three-body Schrödinger equation using a correlated hyperspherical expansion for the wave function. The momentum-space calculations proceed via the solution of the Alt-G…
The data of inelastic 16O+16O scattering to the lowest 2+ and 3- excited states of 16O have been measured at Elab = 250, 350, 480, 704 and 1120 MeV and analyzed consistently in the distorted wave Born approximation (DWBA), using the semi- microscopic optical potentials and inelastic form factors given by the folding model, to reveal possible refractive structure of the nuclear rainbow that was identified earlier in the elastic 16O+16O scattering channel at the same energies. Given the known transition strengths of the 2+ and 3- states of 16O well determined from the (e,e') data, the DWBA descr…
The sensitivity--or rather insensitivity--of the elastic proton-nucleus reaction to the neutron radius of 208Pb is investigated using a non-relativistic impulse-approximation approach. The energy region (Tlab=500 MeV and Tlab=800 MeV) is selected so that the impulse approximation may be safely assumed. Therefore, only free nucleon-nucleon scattering data are used as input for the optical potential. Further, the optical potential includes proton and neutron ground-state densities that are generated from accurately-calibrated models. Even so, these models yield a wide range of values (from 0.13 …
Speed plot and time delay analysis confirms a two-pole S-matrix structure of the lowest 3/2+ level in 5He. Real parts of neutron-alpha elastic and 4He(n,d)3H reaction pole energies are 17.669+/-0.006 and 17.705+/-0.001 MeV n-4He c.m., respectively. Neutron-alpha elastic resonance, uncorrected for experimental energy spread, is characterized by deuteron and neutron partial widths ca. 0.008 and 0.030 MeV suggested by previous time delay analysis.
Elastic scattering observables (differential cross section and analyzing power) are calculated for the reaction $^6$He(p,p)$^6$He at projectile energies starting at 71 MeV/nucleon. The optical potential needed to describe the reaction is derived describing $^6$He in terms of a $^4$He-core and two neutrons. The Watson first order multiple scattering ansatz is extended to accommodate the internal dynamics of a composite cluster model for the $^6$He nucleus scattering from a nucleon projectile. The calculations are compared with the recent experiments at the projectile energy of 71 MeV/nucleon. I…
The optical model potentials for nucleon-nucleus elastic scattering at $65$~MeV are calculated for $^{12}$C, $^{16}$O, $^{28}$Si, $^{40}$Ca, $^{56}$Fe, $^{90}$Zr and $^{208}$Pb in first order multiple scattering theory, following the prescription of the spectator expansion, where the only inputs are the free NN potentials, the nuclear densities and the nuclear mean field as derived from microscopic nuclear structure calculations. These potentials are used to predict differential cross sections, analyzing powers and spin rotation functions for neutron and proton scattering at 65 MeV projectile …
