Let $μ$ be a Radon measure on the $n$-th Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^n$. In this note we prove that if the $(2n+1)$-dimensional (Heisenberg) Riesz transform on $\mathbb{H}^n$ is $L^2(μ)$-bounded, and if $μ(F)=0$ for all Borel sets with $\dim_H(F)\leq 2$, then $μ$ must have $(2n+1)$-polynomial growth. This is the Heisenberg counterpart of a result of Guy David from 1991.
We study the boundedness from Hp(.) into Lq(.) of certain generalized Riesz potentials and the Hp(.)-Hq(.) boundedness of the Riesz potential. Both results are achieved via the finite atomic decomposition developed in [4].
In this paper we prove the boundedness of the Gaussian Riesz potentials $I_β$, for $β\geq 1$ on $L^{p(\cdot)}(γ_d)$, the Gaussian variable Lebesgue spaces under a certain additional condition of regularity on $p(\cdot)$ following \cite{DalSco}. Additionally, this result trivially gives us an alternative proof of the boundedness of Gaussian Riesz potentials $I_β$ on Gaussian Lebesgue spaces $L^p(γ_d)$.
We give a simple proof of L^p boundedness of iterated commutators of Riesz transforms and a product BMO function. We use a representation of the Riesz transforms by means of simple dyadic operators - dyadic shifts - which in turn reduces the estimate quickly to paraproduct estimates.
We study several problems related to the $\ell^p$ boundedness of Riesz transforms for graphs endowed with so-called bounded Laplacians. Introducing a proper notion of gradient of functions on edges, we prove for $p\in(1,2]$ an $\ell^p$ estimate for the gradient of the continuous time heat semigroup, an $\ell^p$ interpolation inequality as well as the $\ell^p$ boundedness of the modified Littlewood-Paley-Stein functions for all graphs with bounded Laplacians. This yields an analogue to Dungey's results in [Dungey08] while removing some additional assumptions. Coming back to the classical notion…
We prove that the Heisenberg Riesz transform is $L_2$--unbounded on a family of intrinsic Lipschitz graphs in the first Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}$. We construct this family by combining a method from \cite{NY2} with a stopping time argument, and we establish the $L_2$--unboundedness of the Riesz transform by introducing several new techniques to analyze singular integrals on intrinsic Lipschitz graphs. These include a formula for the Riesz transform in terms of a singular integral on a vertical plane and bounds on the flow of singular integrals that arises from a perturbation of a graph. On…
We prove that the energy conditions in arXiv:1302.5093v7 are implied by the fractional A2 conditions and testing conditions for the vector of fractional Riesz transforms when one measure is supported on a line. Then we apply the main theorem in arXiv:1302.5093v7 to obtain a T1 theorem for the fractional Riesz transforms when one weight is supported on a line.
Let $w$ be a Muckenhoupt weight and $WH^p_w(\mathbb R^n)$ be the weighted weak Hardy spaces. In this paper, by using the atomic decomposition of $WH^p_w(\mathbb R^n)$, we will show that the maximal Bochner-Riesz operators $T^δ_*$ are bounded from $WH^p_w(\mathbb R^n)$ to $WL^p_w(\mathbb R^n)$ when $0<p\le1$ and $δ>n/p-{(n+1)}/2$. Moreover, we will also prove that the Bochner-Riesz operators $T^δ_R$ are bounded on $WH^p_w(\mathbb R^n)$ for $0<p\le1$ and $δ>n/p-{(n+1)}/2$. Our results are new even in the unweighted case.
In this paper we consider $L^p$ boundedness of some commutators of Riesz transforms associated to Schrödinger operator $P=-Δ+V(x)$ on $\mathbb{R}^n, n\geq 3$. We assume that $V(x)$ is non-zero, nonnegative, and belongs to $B_q$ for some $q \geq n/2$. Let $T_1=(-Δ+V)^{-1}V,\ T_2=(-Δ+V)^{-1/2}V^{1/2}$ and $T_3=(-Δ+V)^{-1/2}\nabla$. We obtain that $[b,T_j] (j=1,2,3)$ are bounded operators on $L^p(\mathbb{R}^n)$ when $p$ ranges in a interval, where $b \in \mathbf{BMO}(\mathbb{R}^n)$. Note that the kernel of $T_j (j=1,2,3)$ has no smoothness.
Given a sequence of complete Riemannian manifolds $(M_n)$ of the same dimension, we construct a complete Riemannian manifold $M$ such that for all $p \in (1,\infty)$ the $L^p$-norm of the Riesz transform on $M$ dominates the $L^p$-norm of the Riesz transform on $M_n$ for all $n$. Thus we establish the following dichotomy: given $p$ and $d$, either there is a uniform $L^p$ bound on the Riesz transform over all complete $d$-dimensional Riemannian manifolds, or there exists a complete Riemannian manifold with Riesz transform unbounded on $L^p$.
Let $0 < p \leq 1$ and $w$ in the Muckenhoupt class $A_1$. Recently, by using the weighted atomic decomposition and molecular characterization; Lee, Lin and Yang \cite{LLY} (J. Math. Anal. Appl. 301 (2005), 394--400) established that the Riesz transforms $R_j, j=1, 2,...,n$, are bounded on $H^p_w(\mathbb R^n)$. In this note we extend this to the general case of weight $w$ in the Muckenhoupt class $A_\infty$ through molecular characterization. One difficulty, which has not been taken care in \cite{LLY}, consists in passing from atoms to all functions in $H^p_w(\mathbb R^n)$. Furthermore, the $H…
Let $M$ be a complete non-compact Riemannian manifold. In this paper, we derive sufficient conditions on metric perturbation for stability of $L^p$-boundedness of the Riesz transform, $p\in (2,\infty)$. We also provide counter-examples regarding in-stability for $L^p$-boundedness of Riesz transform.
Let $G$ be the Lie group given by the semidirect product of $R^2$ and $R^+$ endowed with the Riemannian symmetric space structure. Let $X_0, X_1, X_2$ be a distinguished basis of left-invariant vector fields of the Lie algebra of $G$ and define the Laplacian $Δ=-(X_0^2+X_1^2+X_2^2)$. In this paper we consider the first order Riesz transforms $R_i=X_iΔ^{-1/2}$ and $S_i=Δ^{-1/2}X_i$, for $i=0,1,2$. We prove that the operators $R_i$, but not the $S_i$, are bounded from the Hardy space $H^1$ to $L^1$. We also show that the second order Riesz transforms $T_{ij}=X_iΔ^{-1}X_j$ are bounded from $H^1$ …
We consider the Bochner-Riesz means for the Hermite and special Hermite expansions and study their $L^p$ boundedness with the sharp summability index in a local setting. In two dimensions we establish the boundedness on the optimal range of $p$ and extend the previously known range in higher dimensions. Furthermore, we prove a new lower bound on the $L^p$ summability index for the Hermite Bochner-Riesz means in $\mathbb R^d$, $d\ge 2.$ This invalidates the conventional conjecture which was expected to be true.
Analogous of Riesz potentials and Riesz transforms are defined and studied for the Dunkl transform associated with a family of weighted functions that are invariant under a reflection group. The $L^p$ boundedness of these operators is established in certain cases.
We study commutators with the Riesz transforms on the Heisenberg group. The Schatten norm of these commutators is characterized in terms of Besov norms of the symbol. This generalizes the classical Euclidean results of Peller, Janson--Wolff and Rochberg--Semmes. The method of proof extends the earlier methods, allowing us to address not just the Riesz transforms, but also the Cauchy--Szego projection and second order Riesz transforms on the Heisenberg group, among other settings.
In a previous paper the boundedness properties of Riesz Potentials, Bessel potentials and Fractional Derivatives were studied in detail on Gaussian Besov-Lipschitz spaces $B_{p,q}^α(γ_d)$. In this paper we will continue our study proving the boundedness of those operators on Gaussian Triebel-Lizorkin spaces $F_{p,q}^α(γ_d)$. Also these results can be extended to the case of Laguerre or Jacobi expansions and even further to the general framework of diffusions semigroups.
In this paper, let $L=L_{0}+V$ be a Schrödinger type operator where $L_{0}$ is higher order elliptic operator with complex coefficients in divergence form and $V$ is signed measurable function, under the strongly subcritical assumption on $V$, the authors study the $L^{q}$ boundedness of Riesz transforms $\nabla^{m}L^{-1/2}$ for $q\leq 2$ and obtain a sharp result. Furthermore, the authors impose extra regularity assumptions on $V$ to obtain the $L^{q}$ boundedness of Riesz transforms $\nabla^{m}L^{-1/2}$ for $q>2$. As an application, the main results can be applied to the operator $L=(-Δ)^{m}…
We prove an almost everywhere convergence result for Bochner-Riesz means of $L^p$ functions on Heisenberg-type groups, yielding the existence of a $p>2$ for which convergence holds for means of arbitrarily small order. The proof hinges on a reduction of weighted $L^2$ estimates for the maximal Bochner-Riesz operator to corresponding estimates for the non-maximal operator, and a `dual Sobolev trace lemma', whose proof is based on refined estimates for Jacobi polynomials.
For a general compact variety $Γ$ of arbitrary codimension, one can consider the $L^p$ mapping properties of the Bôchner-Riesz multiplier $$ m_{Γ, α}(ζ) \ = \ {\rm dist}(ζ, Γ)^α ϕ(ζ) $$ where $α> 0$ and $ϕ$ is an appropriate smooth cut-off function. Even for the sphere $Γ= {\mathbb S}^{N-1}$, the exact $L^p$ boundedness range remains a central open problem in Euclidean Harmonic Analysis. In this paper we consider the $L^p$ integrability of the Bôchner-Riesz convolution kernel for a particular class of varieties (of any codimension). For a subclass of these varieties the range of $L^p$ integrab…
In this paper we study the $s$-dimensional Riesz transform of a finite measure $μ$ in $\mathbf{R}^d$, with $s\in (d-1,d)$. We show that the boundedness of the Riesz transform of $μ$ implies that a nonlinear potential of exponential type is finite $μ$-almost everywhere. It appears to be the first result of this type for $s>1$.
We prove pointwise estimates to the modified Riesz potential. We show the boundedness of its Luxemburg norm. As an application we obtain Orlicz embedding results. We study the sharpness of the results.
Hardy-Littlewood maximal, generalized Bessel-Riesz and generalized fractional integral operators in generalized Morrey and $BMO_ϕ$ spaces associated with Dunkl operator on the real line
Let $L_1$ be a nonnegative self-adjoint operator in $L^2({\mathbb R}^n)$ satisfying the Davies-Gaffney estimates and $L_2$ a second order divergence form elliptic operator with complex bounded measurable coefficients. A typical example of $L_1$ is the Schrödinger operator $-Δ+V$, where $Δ$ is the Laplace operator on ${\mathbb R}^n$ and $0\le V\in L^1_{\mathop\mathrm{loc}} ({\mathbb R}^n)$. Let $H^p_{L_i}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ be the Hardy space associated to $L_i$ for $i\in\{1,\,2\}$. In this paper, the authors prove that the Riesz transform $D (L_i^{-1/2})$ is bounded from $H^p_{L_i}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ …
We prove that the classical one-parameter convolution singular integrals on the Heisenberg group are bounded on multiparameter flag Hardy spaces, which satisfy `intermediate' dilation between the one-parameter anisotropic dilation and the product dilation on $\mathbb{C}^{n}\times \mathbb{R}$ implicitly.
In this paper we establish $L^p$-boundedness properties for variation, oscillation and jump operators associated with Riesz transforms and Poisson semigroups related to Laguerre polynomial expansions.
Motivated by the problem of spherical summability of products of Fourier series, we study the boundedness of the bilinear Bochner-Riesz multipliers $(1-|ξ|^2-|η|^2)^δ_+$ and we make some advances in this investigation. We obtain an optimal result concerning the boundedness of these means from $L^2\times L^2 $ into $L^1$ with minimal smoothness, i.e., any $δ>0$, and we obtain estimates for other pairs of spaces for larger values of $δ$. Our study is broad enough to encompass general bilinear multipliers $m(ξ,η)$ radial in $ξ$ and $η$ with minimal smoothness, measured in Sobolev space norms. Our…
In this paper we investigate Lp-boundedness properties for the higher order Riesz transforms associated with Laguerre operators. Also we prove that the k-th Riesz transform is a principal value singular integral operator (modulus a constant times of the function when k is even). To establish our results we exploit a new identity connecting Riesz transforms in the Hermite and Laguerre settings.
In this paper we will study the boundedness of Riesz Potentials, Bessel potentials and Fractional Derivatives on Gaussian Besov-Lipschitz spaces $B_{p,q}^α(γ_d)$. Also these results can be extended to the case of Laguerre or Jacobi expansions and even further to the general framework of diffusions semigroups.
For any fixed $p>2$, a necessary and sufficient condition is obtained for the boundedness of the Riesz transforms associated with second order elliptic operators with real, symmetric, bounded measurable coefficients.
We study weighted $(L^p, L^q)$-boundedness properties of Riesz potentials and fractional maximal functions for the Dunkl transform. In particular, we obtain the weighted Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev type inequality and weighted week $(L^1, L^q)$ estimate. We find a sharp constant in the weighted $L^p$-inequality, generalizing the results of W. Beckner and S. Samko.
In this paper we represent the $k$-th Riesz transform in the ultraspherical setting as a principal value integral operator for every $k\in \mathbb{N}$. We also measure the speed of convergence of the limit by proving $L^p$-boundedness properties for the oscillation and variation operators associated with the corresponding truncated operators.
We study the boundedness of Riesz transforms in $L^p$ for $p>2$ on a doubling metric measure space endowed with a gradient operator and an injective, $ω$-accretive operator $L$ satisfying Davies-Gaffney estimates. If $L$ is non-negative self-adjoint, we show that under a reverse Hölder inequality, the Riesz transform is always bounded on $L^p$ for $p$ in some interval $[2,2+\varepsilon)$, and that $L^p$ gradient estimates for the semigroup imply boundedness of the Riesz transform in $L^q$ for $q \in [2,p)$. This improves results of \cite{ACDH} and \cite{AC}, where the stronger assumption of a …
Let $G = N \rtimes A$, where $N$ is a stratified group and $A = \mathbb{R}$ acts on $N$ via automorphic dilations. Homogeneous sub-Laplacians on $N$ and $A$ can be lifted to left-invariant operators on $G$ and their sum is a sub-Laplacian $Δ$ on $G$. Here we prove weak type $(1,1)$, $L^p$-boundedness for $p \in (1,2]$ and $H^1 \to L^1$ boundedness of the Riesz transforms $Y Δ^{-1/2}$ and $Y Δ^{-1} Z$, where $Y$ and $Z$ are any horizontal left-invariant vector fields on $G$, as well as the corresponding dual boundedness results. At the crux of the argument are large-time bounds for spatial deri…
In this article we prove dimension free $L^p$-boundedness of Riesz transforms associated with a Bessel diferential operator. We obtain explicit estimates of the $L^p$-norms for the Bessel-Riesz transforms in terms of p, establishing a linear behaviour with respect to p. We use the Bellman function technique to prove a bilinear dimension free inequality involving Poisson semigroups defined through this Bessel operator.
In this paper, we will give some results on the support of Dunkl translations on compactly supported functions. Then we will define Dunkl-type $BMO$ space and Riesz transforms for Dunkl transform on $L^\infty$, and prove the boundedness of Riesz transforms from $L^\infty$ to Dunkl-type $BMO$ space under the uniform boundedness assumption of Dunkl translations. The proof and the definition in Dunkl setting will be harder than in the classical case for the lack of some similar properties of Dunkl translations to that of classical translations. We will also extend the preciseness of the descripti…
We study the boundedness of certain fractional integral operators from Hp(.) into Lq(.). We also obtain the Hp(.)- Hq(.) boundedness of the Riesz potential.
For 0<n<d integers and r>2, we prove that an n-dimensional Ahlfors-David regular measure M in R^d is uniformly n-rectifiable if and only if the r-variation for the Riesz transform with respect to M is a bounded operator in L^2(M). This result can be considered as a partial solution to a well known open problem posed by G. David and S. Semmes which relates the L^2(M) boundedness of the Riesz transform to the uniform rectifiability of M.
Let $M$ be a complete non-compact manifold satisfying the volume doubling condition, with doubling index $N$ and reverse doubling index $n$, $n\le N$, both for large balls. Assume a Gaussian upper bound for the heat kernel, and an $L^2$-Poincaré inequality outside a compact set. If $2<n$, then we show that for $p\in (2,n)$, $(R_p)$: $L^p$-boundedness of the Riesz transform, $(G_p)$: $L^p$-boundedness of the gradient of the heat semigroup, and $(RH_p)$: reverse $L^p$-Hölder inequality for the gradient of harmonic functions, are equivalent to each other. Our characterization implies that for $p\…
We study the boundedness on $L^p$ of the Riesz transform $\nabla L^{-1/2}$, where $L$ is one of several operators defined on $\R$ or $\R_+$, endowed with the measure $r^{d-1} dr$, $d > 1$, where $dr$ is Lebesgue measure. For integer $d$, this mimics the measure on Euclidean $d$-dimensional space, and in this case our setup is equivalent to looking at the Laplacian acting on radial functions on Euclidean space or variations of Euclidean space such as the exterior of a sphere (with either Dirichlet or Neumann boundary conditions), or the connected sum of two copies of $\R^d$. In this way we illu…
In this paper, we establish sufficient conditions for a singular integral $T$ to be bounded from certain Hardy spaces $H^p_L$ to Lebesgue spaces $L^p$, $0< p \le 1$, and for the commutator of $T$ and a BMO function to be weak-type bounded on Hardy space $H_L^1$. We then show that our sufficient conditions are applicable to the following cases: (i) $T$ is the Riesz transform or a square function associated with the Laplace-Beltrami operator on a doubling Riemannian manifold, (ii) $T$ is the Riesz transform associated with the magnetic Schrödinger operator on an Euclidean space, and (iii) $T = g…
We prove that if $μ$ is a d-dimensional Ahlfors-David regular measure in $\R^{d+1}$, then the boundedness of the $d$-dimensional Riesz transform in $L^2(μ)$ implies that the non-BAUP David-Semmes cells form a Carleson family. Combined with earlier results of David and Semmes, this yields the uniform rectifiability of $μ$.
We provide a study of the Riesz transforms on stratified nilpotent Lie groups, and obtain a certain version of the pointwise lower bound of the Riesz transform kernel. Then we establish the characterisation of the BMO space on stratified nilpotent Lie groups via the boundedness of the commutator of the Riesz transforms and the BMO function. This extends the well-known Coifman, Rochberg, Weiss theorem from Euclidean space to the setting of stratified nilpotent Lie groups. In particular, these results apply to the well-known example of the Heisenberg group. As an application, we also study the c…
In this paper we study higher order Riesz transforms associated with the inverse Gaussian measure given by $π^{n/2}e^{|x|^2}dx$ on $\mathbb{R}^n$. We establish $L^p(\mathbb{R}^n,e^{|x|^2}dx)$-boundedness properties and obtain representations as principal values singular integrals for the higher order Riesz transforms. New characterizations of the Banach spaces having the UMD property by means of the Riesz transforms and imaginary powers of the operator involved in the inverse Gaussian setting are given.
The purpose of this paper is threefold. First the natural extension of Riesz potentials to the context of quasi metric measure spaces for the class of upper doubling measures are studied on Lebesgue spaces, obtaining necessary and sufficient conditions on a upper doubling measure. Second, we exhibit a geometric property of the measure of the ball which permit prove the boundedness in a unified way, both in of the doubling as non doubling situation. Third, we show that the result can be applied to a type Riesz potential operator defined over a space formed by two components which are not of nec…
In this paper we establish the $L^p$-boundedness properties of the variation operators associated with the heat semigroup, Riesz transforms and commutator between Riesz transforms and multiplication by $BMO(R^n)$-functions in the Schrödinger setting.
