We present several results regarding the connectivity of McKay quivers of finite-dimensional complex representations of finite groups, with no restriction on the faithfulness or self-duality of the representations. We give examples of McKay quivers, as well as quivers that cannot arise as McKay quivers, and discuss a necessary and sufficient condition for two finite groups to share a connected McKay quiver.
Let $Γ^{n}$ be the cone of an $(n-1)$-complete algebra over an algebraically closed field $k$. In this paper, we prove that if the bound quiver $(Q_{n},ρ_{n})$ of $Γ^{n}$ is a truncation from the bound McKay quiver $(Q_{G},ρ_{G})$ of a finite subgroup $G$ of $GL(n,k)$, the bound quiver $(Q_{n+1}, ρ_{n+1})$ of $Γ^{n+1}$, the cone of $Γ^{n}$, is a truncation from the bound McKay quiver $(Q_{\widetilde{G}},ρ_{\widetilde{G}})$ of $\widetilde{G}$, where $\widetilde{G}\cong G\times \mathbb{Z}_{m}$ for some $m\in \mathbb{N}$.
In this paper, we study the relationship between the McKay quivers of a finite subgroups $G$ of special linear groups general linear groups, via some natural extension and embedding. We show that the McKay quiver of certain extension of a finite subgroup $G$ of $\mathrm{SL}(m,\mathbb C)$ in $\mathrm{GL}(m,\mathbb C)$ is a regular covering of the McKay quiver of $G$, and when embedding $G$ in a canonical way into $\mathrm{GL}(m-1,\mathbb C)$, the new McKay quiver is obtained by adding an arrow from the Nakayama translation of $i$ back to $i$ for each $i$. We also show that certain interesting e…
We construct a family of McKay quiver representations on the Danilov resolution of the 1/r(1,a,r - a) singularity. It follows that the resolution is the normalization of the coherent component of the moduli space of stable McKay quiver representations for a suitable stability condition. We describe explicitly the corresponding chamber of stability conditions for any coprime numbers r, a.
For a domestic finite group scheme, we give a direct description of the Euclidean components in its Auslander-Reiten quiver via the McKay-quiver of a finite linearly reductive subgroup scheme of $SL(2)$. Moreover, for a normal subgroup scheme $\mathcal{N}$ of a finite group scheme $\mathcal{G}$, we show that there is a connection between the ramification indices of the restriction morphism $\mathbb{P}(\mathcal{V}_{\mathcal{N}})\rightarrow\mathbb{P}(\mathcal{V}_{\mathcal{G}})$ between their projectivized cohomological support varieties and the ranks of the tubes in their Auslander-Reiten quiver…
For a given small binary dihedral group G we use the classification of G-graphs to describe explicitly G-Hilb(C^2) by giving an affine open cover of M(Q,R), the moduli space of stable quiver representations.
Let $Q$ be a finite quiver and $G\subseteq\Aut(\mathbbm{k}Q)$ a finite abelian group. Assume that $\hat{Q}$ and $Γ$ is the generalized Mckay quiver and the valued graph corresponding to $(Q, G)$ respectively. In this paper we discuss the relationship between indecomposable $\hat{Q}$-representations and the root system of Kac-Moody algebra $\mathfrak{g}(Γ)$. Moreover, we may lift $G$ to $\bar{G}\subseteq\Aut(\mathfrak{g}(\hat{Q}))$ such that $\mathfrak{g}(Γ)$ embeds into the fixed point algebra $\mathfrak{g}(\hat{Q})^{\bar{G}}$ and $\mathfrak{g}(\hat{Q})^{\bar{G}}$ as $\mathfrak{g}(Γ)$-module i…
Two classes of avalanche-finite matrices and their critical groups (integer cokernels) are studied from the viewpoint of chip-firing/sandpile dynamics, namely, the Cartan matrices of finite root systems and the McKay-Cartan matrices for finite subgroups G of general linear groups. In the root system case, the recurrent and superstable configurations are identified explicitly and are related to minuscule dominant weights. In the McKay-Cartan case for finite subgroups of the special linear group, the cokernel is related to the abelianization of the subgroup G. In the special case of the classica…
For each prime number $s$ we introduce examples of $(s-1)$- and $s$-representation infinite algebras in the sense of Herschend, Iyama and Oppermann, which arise from skew group algebras of some metacyclic groups embedded in $\mathrm{SL}(s,\mathbb{C})$ and $\mathrm{SL}(s+1,\mathbb{C})$. For this purpose, we give a description of the McKay quiver with a superpotential of such groups. Moreover we show that for $s=2$ our examples correspond to the classical tame hereditary algebras of type $\tilde{D}$.
Kirillov has described a McKay correspondence for finite subgroups of PSL_{2}(C) that associates to each `height' function an affine Dynkin quiver together with a derived equivalence between equivariant sheaves on the projective line P^1 and representations of this quiver. The equivalences for different height functions are then related by reflection functors for quiver representations. The main goal of this paper is to develop an analogous story for the cotangent bundle of P^1. We show that each height function gives rise to a derived equivalence between equivariant sheaves on the cotangent b…
We are interested in the McKay quiver $Γ(G)$ and skew group rings $A*G$, where $G$ is a finite subgroup of $\mathrm{GL}(V)$, where $V$ is a finite dimensional vector space over a field $K$, and $A$ is a $K-G$-algebra. These skew group rings appear in Auslander's version of the McKay correspondence. In the first part of this paper we consider complex reflection groups $G \subseteq \mathrm{GL}(V)$ and find a combinatorial method, making use of Young diagrams, to construct the McKay quivers for the groups $G(r,p,n)$. We first look at the case $G(1,1,n)$, which is isomorphic to the symmetric group…
For a finite subgroup $Γ\subset \mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb{C})$ and $n\geq 1$, we construct the (reduced scheme underlying the) Hilbert scheme of $n$ points on the Kleinian singularity $\mathbb{C}^2/Γ$ as a Nakajima quiver variety for the framed McKay quiver of $Γ$, taken at a specific non-generic stability parameter. We deduce that this Hilbert scheme is irreducible (a result previously due to Zheng), normal, and admits a unique symplectic resolution. More generally, we introduce a class of algebras obtained from the preprojective algebra of the framed McKay quiver by a process called cornering, a…
Let $G\subset SL_2(C)\subset SL_3(C)$ be a finite group. We compute motivic Pandharipande-Thomas and Donaldson-Thomas invariants of the crepant resolution $Hilb^G(C^3)$ of $C^3/G$ generalizing results of Gholampour and Jiang who computed numerical DT/PT invariants using localization techniques. Our formulas rely on the computation of motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants for a special class of quivers with potentials. We show that these motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants are closely related to the polynomials counting absolutely indecomposable quiver representations over finite fields introduce…
In this paper we show that for any affine complete rational surface singularity there is a correspondence between the dual graph of the minimal resolution and the quiver of the endomorphism ring of the special CM modules. We thus call such an algebra the reconstruction algebra. As a consequence the derived category of the minimal resolution is equivalent to the derived category of an algebra whose quiver is determined by the dual graph. Also, for any finite subgroup G of GL(2,C), it means that the endomorphism ring of the special CM C[[x,y]]^G modules can be used to build the dual graph of the…
We study in detail the Jordan forms of the Coxeter transformations and prove shearing formulas due to Subbotin and Sumin for the characteristic polynomials of the Coxeter transformations. Using shearing formulas we calculate characteristic polynomials of the Coxeter transformation for the diagrams T_{2,3,r}, T_{3,3,r}, T_{2,4,r}, prove J. S. Frame's formulas, and generalize R. Steinberg's theorem on the spectrum of the affine Coxeter transformation for the multiply-laced diagrams. This theorem is the key statement in R. Steinberg's proof of the McKay correspondence. B. Kostant's construction a…
Let $G$ be a finite subgroup of $\mbox{GL}(2)$ acting on $\mathbf{A}^2\setminus\{0\}$ freely. The $G$-orbit Hilbert scheme $G\mbox{-Hilb}(\mathbf{A}^2)$ is a minimal resolution of the quotient $\mathbf{A}^2/G$. We determine the generator sheaf of the ideal defining the universal $G$-cluster over $G\mbox{-Hilb}(\mathbf{A}^2)$, which somewhat strengthens the well-known McKay correspondence for a finite subgroup of $\mbox{SL}(2)$. We also study the quiver structure of $G\mbox{-Hilb}(\mathbf{A}^2)$ at every $G$-cluster $O_{Z_y}=O_{\mathbf{A}^2}/I_y$ in terms of a collection of sort of minimal $G$-…
The $n$-slice algebra is introduced as a generalization of path algebra in higher dimensional representation theory. In this paper, we give a classification of $n$-slice algebras via their $(n+1)$-preprojective algebras and the trivial extensions of their quadratic duals. One can always relate tame $n$-slice algebras to the McKay quiver of a finite subgroup of $\mathrm{GL}(n+1, \mathbb C)$. In the case of $n=2$, we describe the relations for the $2$-slice algebras related to the McKay quiver of finite Abelian subgroups of $\mathrm{SL}(3, \mathbb C)$ and of the finite subgroups obtained from em…
This article is based on my lecture notes from summer schools at the Universities of Utah (June 2007) and Warwick (September 2007). We provide an introduction to explicit methods in the study of moduli spaces of quiver representations and derived categories arising in toric geometry. The first main goal is to present the noncommutative geometric approach to semiprojective toric varieties via quivers. To achieve this, we use geometric invariant theory to construct both semiprojective toric varieties and moduli spaces of quiver representations. The second main goal builds on the first by present…
For a finite subgroup $Γ\subset {\mathrm{SL}}(2,\mathbb{C})$, we identify fine moduli spaces of certain cornered quiver algebras, defined in earlier work, with orbifold Quot schemes for the Kleinian orbifold $[\mathbb{C}^2/Γ]$. We also describe the reduced schemes underlying these Quot schemes as Nakajima quiver varieties for the framed McKay quiver of $Γ$, taken at specific non-generic stability parameters. These schemes are therefore irreducible, normal and admit symplectic resolutions. Our results generalise our previous work on the Hilbert scheme of points on $\mathbb{C}^2/Γ$; we present a…
Inspired by the quantum McKay correspondence, we consider the classical $ADE$ Lie theory as a quantum theory over $\mathfrak{sl}_2$. We introduce anti-symmetric characters for representations of quantum groups and investigate the Fourier duality to study the spectral theory. In the $ADE$ Lie theory, there is a correspondence between the eigenvalues of the Coxeter element and the eigenvalues of the adjacency matrix. We formalize related notions and prove such a correspondence for representations of Verlinde algebras of quantum groups: this includes the quiver of any module category acted on by …
