We study a regularised version of the magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations, the tamed MHD (TMHD) equations. They are a model for the flow of electrically conducting fluids through porous media. We prove existence and uniqueness of TMHD on the whole space $\mathbb{R}^{3}$, that smooth data give rise to smooth solutions, and show that solutions to TMHD converge to a suitable weak solution of the MHD equations as the taming parameter $N$ tends to infinity. Furthermore, we adapt a regularity result for the Navier-Stokes equations to the MHD case.
We study the tamed magnetohydrodynamics equations, introduced recently in a paper by the author, perturbed by multiplicative Wiener noise of transport type on the whole space $\mathbb{R}^{3}$ and on the torus $\mathbb{T}^{3}$. In a first step, existence of a unique strong solution are established by constructing a weak solution, proving that pathwise uniqueness holds and using the Yamada-Watanabe theorem. We then study the associated Markov semigroup and prove that it has the Feller property. Finally, existence of an invariant measure of the equation is shown for the case of the torus.
In this paper, we analyze a tamed 3D Navier-Stokes equation in uniform $C^2$-domains (not necessarily bounded), which obeys the scaling invariance principle, and prove the existence and uniqueness of strong solutions to this tamed equation. In particular, if there exists a bounded solution to the classical 3D Navier-Stokes equation, then this solution satisfies our tamed equation. Moreover, the existence of a global attractor for the tamed equation in bounded domains is also proved. As simple applications, some well known results for the classical Navier-Stokes equations in unbounded domains a…
In this paper, we prove the existence and uniqueness of a smooth solution to a tamed 3D Navier-Stokes equation in the whole space. In particular, if there exists a bounded smooth solution to the classical 3D Navier-Stokes equation, then this solution satisfies our tamed equation. Moreover, using this renormalized equation we can give a new construction for a suitable weak solution of the classical 3D Navier-Stokes equation introduced in [Scheffer: Hausdorff measure and the Navier-Stokes equations. Comm. Math. Phys., 1977] and [Caffarelli, Kohn, Nirenberg: Partial regularity of suitable weak so…
Röckner and Zhang in [27] proved the existence of a unique strong solution to a stochastic tamed 3D Navier-Stokes equation in the whole space and for the periodic boundary case using a result from [31]. In the latter case, they also proved the existence of an invariant measure. In this paper, we improve their results (but for a slightly simplified system) using a self-contained approach. In particular, we generalise their result about an estimate on the $L^4-$norm of the solution from the torus to $\mathbb{R}^3$, see Lemma 5.1 and thus establish the existence of an invariant measure on $\mathb…
We prove several Liouville type results for the stationary MHD and Hall-MHD equations. In particular, we show that the velocity and magnetic field, belonging to some Lorentz spaces or satisfying a priori decay assumption, must be zero.
In this note we investigate Liouville type theorems for the steady three dimensional MHD and Hall-MHD equations, and show that the velocity field $u$ and the magnetic field $B$ are vanishing provided that $B\in L^{6,\infty}(\mathbb{R}^3)$ and $u\in BMO^{-1}(\mathbb{R}^3)$, which state that the velocity field plays an important role. Moreover, the similar result holds in the case of partial viscosity or diffusivity for the three dimensional MHD equations.
In this paper, similar to the incompressible Euler equation, we prove the propagation of the Gevrey regularity of solutions to the three-dimensional incompressible ideal magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations. We also obtain an uniform estimate of Gevery radius for the solution of MHD equation.
In this paper, we prove that as the viscosity and resistivity go to zero, the solution of the Cauchy problem for the incompressible MHD equations converges to the solution of the ideal MHD equations in the same topology with the initial data. Our proof mainly depends on the method introduced by the paper \cite{G.L.Y} and the constructions of the incompressible MHD equations.
This paper is concerned with the Liouville type theorems for the 3D stationary incompressible Hall-MHD equations. We establish that under some sufficient conditions in local Morrey spaces, solutions of the stationary Hall-MHD equations are identically zero. In particular, we also prove Liouville type results for the stationary incompressible MHD equations on $\mathbb{R}^3$. Our theorems extend and generalize the classical results for the stationary incompressible Navier-Stokes equations.
By using a set of scaling limits, the authors in \cite{ADFL,SS} proposed a framework of deriving the Hall-MHD equations from the two-fluids Euler-Maxwell equations for electrons and ions. In this paper, we derive the Hall-MHD equations from the Navier-Stokes-Maxwell equations with generalized Ohm's law in a mathematically rigorous way via the spectral analysis and energy methods.
We prove several Liouville type results for the stationary Hall-MHD and MHD equations. In particular, we show that the velocity and magnetic field, belonging to some Lorentz spaces, must be zero.
In this paper, we investigate the characteristic structure of the full equations of magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) and show that it satisfies the hypotheses of a general variable-multiplicity stability frame- work introduced by Metivier and Zumbrun, thereby extending to the general case various results obtained by Metivier and Zumbrun for the isentropic equations of MHD.
In this paper, we construct a class global large solution to the two-dimensional MHD equations with damp terms in the nonhomogeneous Sobolev framework.
We generalize here the celebrated Partial Regularity Theory of Caffarelli, Kohn and Nirenberg to the MHD equations in the framework of parabolic Morrey spaces. This type of parabolic generalization using Morrey spaces appears to be crucial when studying the role of the pressure in the regularity theory for the classical Navier-Stokes equations as well as for the MHD equations.
Whether or not classical solutions of the 2D incompressible MHD equations without full dissipation and magnetic diffusion can develop finite-time singularities is a difficult issue. A major result of this paper establishes the global regularity of classical solutions for the MHD equations with mixed partial dissipation and magnetic diffusion. In addition, the global existence, conditional regularity and uniqueness of a weak solution is obtained for the 2D MHD equations with only magnetic diffusion.
Whether or not the solution to 2D resistive MHD equations is globally smooth remains open. This paper establishes the global regularity of solutions to the 2D almost resistive MHD equations, which require the dissipative operators $\mathcal{L}$ weaker than any power of the fractional Laplacian. The result is an improvement of the one of Fan et al. (Global Cauchy problem of 2D generalized MHD equations, Monatsh. Math., 175 (2014), pp. 127-131) which ask for $α>0, β=1$.
Local regularity results are obtained for the MHD equations using as global framework the setting of parabolic Morrey spaces. Indeed, by assuming some local boundedness assumptions (in the sense of parabolic Morrey spaces) for weak solutions of the MHD equations it is possible to obtain a gain of regularity for such solutions in the general setting of the Serrin regularity theory. This is the first step of a wider program that aims to study both local and partial regularity theories for the MHD equations.
In this paper, we study the Liouville--type theorems for three--dimensional stationary incompressible MHD and Hall--MHD systems in a slab with periodic boundary condition. We show that, under the assumptions that $(u^θ,b^θ)$ or $(u^r,b^r)$ is axisymmetric, or $(ru^r,rb^r)$ is bounded, any smooth bounded solution to the MHD or Hall--MHD system with local Dirichlet integral growing as an arbitrary power function must be constant. This hugely improves the result of \cite[Theorem 1.2]{pan2021Liouville}, where the Dirichlet integral of $\mathbf{u}$ is assumed to be finite. Motivated by \cite[Bang--…
In this paper, we prove some blow-up criteria for the 3D Boussinesq system with zero heat conductivity and MHD system and Landau-Lifshitz equations in a bounded domain.
In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem for the one-dimensional compressible isentropic magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations with no vacuum at infinity, but the initial vacuum can be permitted inside the region. By deriving a priori $ν$ (resistivity coefficient)-independent estimates, we establish the non-resistive limit of the global strong solutions with large initial data. Moreover, as a by-product, the global well-posedness of strong solutions for both the compressible resistive MHD equations and non-resistive MHD equations are also established, respectively.
In the paper, we consider the Cauchy problem of the non-resistive MHD equations in homogeneous Besov spaces. We prove the local existence and uniqueness of the solution to the non-resistive MHD equations by using the iterative scheme and compactness arguments. Our obtained result improves considerably the recent results in \cite{C,W}.
In this paper, we prove the existence of forward discretely self-similar solutions to the MHD equations and the viscoelastic Navier-Stokes equations with damping with large weak $L^3$ initial data. The same proving techniques are also applied to construct self-similar solutions to the MHD equations and the viscoelastic Navier-Stokes equations with damping with large weak $L^3$ initial data. This approach is based on [Z. Bradshaw and T.-P. Tsai, Ann. Henri Poincar'{e}, vol. 18, no. 3, 1095-1119, 2017].
This work establishes two regularity criteria for the 3D incompressible MHD equations. The first one is in terms of the derivative of the velocity field in one-direction while the second one requires suitable boundedness of the derivative of the pressure in one-direction.
For the two dimensional stationary MHD equations, we proved that Liouville type theorems hold if the velocity is growing at infinity, where the magnetic field is assumed to be bounded under a smallness condition. The key point is to overcome the nonlinear terms, since no maximum principle holds for the MHD case with respect to the Navier-Stokes equations.
In this paper we show that the solutions to the incompressible Hall-MHD system with fractional magnetic diffusion depend continuously on the initial data in $H^s(\mathbb{R}^d)$, $s>1+\frac{d}{2}$.
In this paper, we consider the steady MHD equations with inhomogeneous boundary conditions for the velocity and the tangential component of the magnetic field. Using a new construction of the magnetic lifting, we obtain existence of weak solutions under sharp assumption on boundary data for the magnetic field.
In this paper, we prove the global well-posedness of the incompressible MHD equations near a homogeneous equilibrium in the domain $R^k\times T^{d-k}, d\geq2,k\geq1$ by using the comparison principle and constructing the comparison function.
This note is devoted to investigating Liouville type properties of the two dimensional stationary incompressible Magnetohydrodynamics equations. More precisely, under smallness conditions only on the magnetic field, we show that there are no non-trivial solutions to MHD equations either the Dirichlet integral or some $L^p$ norm of the velocity-magnetic fields are finite. In particular, these results generalize the corresponding Liouville type properties for the 2D Navier-Stokes equations, such as Gilbarg-Weinberger \cite{GW1978} and Koch-Nadirashvili-Seregin-Sverak \cite{KNSS}, to the MHD sett…
This paper is concerned with the Cauchy problem of the two-dimensional MHD system with magnetic diffusion. It was proved that the MHD equations have a unique global strong solution around the equilibrium state $(0, e_1)$. Furthermore, the $L^2$ decay rate of the velocity and magnetic field is obtained.
In this paper we analyze a method of to approximation for the weak solutions of the incompressible magnetohydrodynamic equations (MHD) in unbounded domains. In particular we describe an hyperbolic version of the so called artificial compressibility method adapted to the MHD system. By exploiting the wave equation structure of the approximating system we achieve the convergence of the approximating sequences by means of dispersive estimate of Strichartz type. We prove that the soleinoidal component of the approximating velocity and magnetic fields is relatively compact and converges strongly to…
In this paper, we study the MHD equations with small viscosity and resistivity coefficients, which may be different. This is a typical setting in high temperature plasmas. It was proved that the MHD equations are globally well-posed if the initial velocity is close to 0 and the initial magnetic field is close to a homogeneous magnetic field in the weighted Hölder space, where the closeness is independent of the dissipation coefficients.
In this paper, we investigate the three dimensional stationary compressible Navier-Stokes equations, and obtain Liouville type theorems if a smooth solution $(ρ, \mathbf{u})$ satisfies some suitable conditions. In particular, our results improve and generalize the corresponding result.
In this paper, we consider the Cauchy problem of the multi-dimensional generalized MHD system in the whole space and construct global smooth solutions with a class of large initial data by exploring the structure of the nonlinear term. Precisely speaking, our choice of special initial data whose $L^{\infty}$ norm can be arbitrarily large allows to generate global-in-time solutions to the generalized MHD system.
In this paper we are concerned with the global well-posedness for the compressible MHD equations with large data. We show that if the shear viscosity $μ$ is a positive constant and the bulk viscosity $λ$ is the power function of the density, that is, $λ(ρ)=ρ^β$ with $β>3$, then the two dimensional compressible MHD system with the periodic boundary conditions on the torus $\mathbb{T}^2$ have a unique global classical solution $(ρ, u,H)$. In this work we extended the results about compressible Navier-Stokes equations in \cite{Karzhikhov} to compressible MHD equations by applying several new tech…
This paper deals with the existence of global weak solutions for 3D MHD equations when the initial data belong to the weighted spaces $L^2_{w_γ}$, with $w_γ(x)=(1+| x|)^{-γ}$ and $0 \leq γ\leq 2$. Moreover, we prove the existence of discretely self-similar solutions for 3D MHD equations for discretely self-similar initial data which are locally square integrable. Our methods are inspired of a recent work of P. Fernández-Dalgo and P.G. Lemarié-Riseusset for the 3D Navier-Stokes equations.
The Hall-magnetohydrodynamics (Hall-MHD) equations, rigorously derived from kinetic models, are useful in describing many physical phenomena in geophysics and astrophysics. This paper studies the local well-posedness of classical solutions to the Hall-MHD equations with the magnetic diffusion given by a fractional Laplacian operator, $(-Δ)^α$. Due to the presence of the Hall term in the Hall-MHD equations, standard energy estimates appear to indicate that we need $α\ge 1$ in order to obtain the local well-posedness. This paper breaks the barrier and shows that the fractional Hall-MHD equations…
We prove the existence of a weak solution to a generalized quantum MHD equation in a 2-dimensional periodic box for large initial data. The existence of a global weak solution is established through a three-level approximation, energy estimates, and weak convergence for the adiabatic exponent γ>1.
In this paper, we consider the quantum MHD equations with both the viscosity coefficient and the magnetic diffusion coefficient are depend on the density. we prove the global existence of weak solutions and perform the lower planck limit in a 3-dimensional torus for large initial data. The global existence is shown by using Faedo-Galerkin method and weak compactness techniques for the adiabatic exponent $γ>1$.
In this paper we consider three-dimensional incompressible magnetohydrodynamics equations. By using interpolation inequalities in anisotropic Lebesgue space, we provide regularity criteria involving the velocity or alternatively involving the fractional derivative of velocity in one direction, which generalize some known results.
The purpose of this paper is to study the incompressible non-resistive MHD equations in $\mathbb{R}^3$. We establish the global well-posedness of classical solutions if the initial data is axially symmetric and the swirl components of the velocity and magnetic vorticity vanish. In particular, the special axially symmetric initial data can be arbitrarily large and satisfy low regularity assumptions.
In this paper, we establish the continuous dependence for the non-resistive MHD equations in Sobolev spaces. Our obtained result fills considerably the recent result [C. Fefferman, D. McCormick, J. Robinson and J. Rodrigo, Higher order commutator estimates and local existence for the non-resistive MHD equations and related models, J. Funct. Anal. 267 (2014), 1035--1056] for the continuous dependence on initial data. We also show that this result is optimal. More precisely, we proved that the data-to-solution map is not uniform continuous dependence in Sobolev spaces.
We investigate the initial-boundary value problem for one-dimensional compressible, heat-conductive, non-resistive MHD equations of viscous, ideal polytropic fluids in the Lagrangian coordinates. The existence and Lipschitz continuous dependence on the initial data of global weak solutions are established. Uniqueness of weak solutions follows as a direct consequence of stability.
In this note we consider the ideal compressible magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD) equations in a special two dimensional setting. We show that there exist particular initial data for which one obtains infinitely many entropy-conserving weak solutions by using the convex integration technique. Our result is also true for the isentropic case.
In this paper, we prove the global existence and the large time decay estimate of solutions to the two-dimensional MHD boundary layer equations with small initial data, which is analytical in the tangential variable. The main idea of the proof is motivated by that of \cite{PZ5}. The additional difficulties are: 1. there appears the magnetic field; 2. the far field here depends on the tangential variable; 3. the Reynolds number is different from magnetic Reynolds number. In particular, we solved an open question in \cite{XY19} concerning the large time existence of analytical solutions to the M…
This paper is concerned with the global regularity of the 2D (two-dimensional) generalized magnetohydrodynamic equations with only magnetic diffusion $Λ^{2β} b$. It is proved that when $β>1 $ there exists a unique global regular solution for this equations. The obtained result improves the previous known one which requires that $β>\frac32$.
In this paper, we obtain global small solutions and decay estimates for the MHD boundary layer in Gevrey space without any structural assumptions, generalizing the results of \cite{NL} in analytic space. The proof method is mainly inspired by \cite{WXLY} and \cite{CW}, using new auxiliary functions and finer structural analysis to overcome the difficulty of the loss of derivatives and then we obtain the global well-posedness of the MHD boundary layer in the Gevrey $\frac{3}{2}$ space.
