We study the isometry groups and Killing vector fields of a family of pseudo-Riemannian metrics on Euclidean space which have neutral signature (3+2p,3+2p). All are p+2 curvature homogeneous, all have vanishing Weyl scalar invariants, all are geodesically complete, and all are 0-curvature modeled on an indecomposible symmetric space. Some of these manifolds are not p+3 curvature homogeneous. Some are homogeneous but not symmetric.

We consider sub-Riemannian spaces admitting an isometry group that is maximal in the sense that any linear isometry between the horizontal tangent spaces is realized by a global isometry. We will show that these spaces have a canonical choice of partial connection on their horizontal bundle, which is determined by isometries and generalizes the Levi-Civita connection for the special case of Riemannian model spaces. We consider the orthonormal frame bundle F(M) of a Riemannian manifold M. A construction of Sasaki defines a canonical Riemannian metric on F(M). We prove that for two closed Riemannian n-manifolds M and N, the frame bundles F(M) and F(N) are isometric if and only if M and N are isometric, except possibly in dimensions 3, 4, and 8. In this paper we construct a functor from the category of two-dimensional Riemannian manifolds to the category of three-dimensional manifolds with generalized metric tensors. For each two-dimensional oriented Riemannian manifold $(M,g)$ we construct a metric tensor $\hat g$ (in general, with singularities) on the total space $SO(M,g)$ of the principal bundle of the positively oriented orthonormal frames on $M$. For an Alexandrov space (with curvature bounded below), we determine the maximal dimension of its isometry group and show that the space is isometric to a Riemannian manifold, provided the dimension of its isometry group is maximal. We also determine a gap in the possible dimensions of the isometry groups and show that if the Alexandrov space is symmetric, then it is isometric to a Riemannian manifold.
For a given smooth manifold, we consider the moduli space of Riemannian metrics up to isometry and scaling. One can define a preorder on the moduli space by the size of isometry groups. We call a Riemannian metric that attains a maximal element with respect to the preorder a maximal metric.
