In this article we use the Bellman function technique to characterize the measures for which the weighted Hardy's inequality holds on dyadic trees. We enunciate the (dual) Hardy's inequality over the dyadic tree and we use the associated "Burkholder-type" function to find the main inequality required in the proof of the result. We enunciate a "Bellman-type" function satisfying the required properties and we use the Bellman function technique to prove the main result of this article. We prove the optimality of the associated constant with an explicit example of an extremal family of maps. We also give an explicit interpretation of the corresponding Bellman function in terms of the theory of stochastic optimal control.
We provide lower $L^q$ and weak $L^p$-bounds for the localized dyadic maximal operator on $R^n$, when the local $L^1$ and the local $L^p$ norm of the function are given. We actually do that in the more general context of homo- geneous tree-like families in probability spaces.
A Bellman function approach to Fefferman's $H^1-BMO$ duality theorem is presented. One Bellman-type argument is used to handle two different one-dimensional cases, dyadic and continuous. An explicit estimate for the constant of embedding $BMO\subset (H^1)^*$ is given in the dyadic case. The same Bellman function is then used to establish a multi-dimensional analog.
Evaluation of the Bellman functions is a difficult task. The exact Bellman functions of the dyadic Carleson Embedding Theorem 1.1 and the dyadic maximal operators are obtained in [3] and [4]. Actually, the same Bellman functions also work for the tree-like structure. In this paper, we give a self-complete proof of the coincidence of the Bellman functions on the more general infinitely refining filtered probability space, see Definition 1.3. The proof depends on a remodeling of the Bellman function of the dyadic Carleson Embedding Theorem.
Using Wilson's Haar basis in $\R^n$, which is different than the usual tensor product Haar functions, we define its associated dyadic paraproduct in $\R^n$. We can then extend "trivially" Beznosova's Bellman function proof of the linear bound in $L^2(w)$ with respect to $[w]_{A_2}$ for the 1-dimensional dyadic paraproduct. Here trivial means that each piece of the argument that had a Bellman function proof has an $n$-dimensional counterpart that holds with the same Bellman function. The lemma that allows for this painless extension we call the good Bellman function Lemma. Furthermore the argum…
This article is devoted to a study of the Hardy space $H^{\log} (\mathbb{R}^d)$ introduced by Bonami, Grellier, and Ky. We present an alternative approach to their result relating the product of a function in the real Hardy space $H^1$ and a function in $BMO$ to distributions that belong to $H^{\log}$ based on dyadic paraproducts. We also point out analogues of classical results of Hardy-Littlewood, Zygmund, and Stein for $H^{\log}$ and related Musielak-Orlicz spaces.
We prove L^p estimates for a class of two-dimensional multilinear forms that naturally generalize (dyadic variants of) both classical paraproducts and the twisted paraproduct introduced in [5] and studied in [1] and [6]. The method we use builds on the approach from [6] and we present it as a rather general technique for proving estimates on dyadic multilinear operators. In the particular application to "generalized paraproducts" this method is combined with combinatorics of integer partitions.
We obtain Fourier inequalities in the weighted $L_p$ spaces for any $1<p<\infty$ involving the Hardy-Cesàro and Hardy-Bellman operators. We extend these results to product Hardy spaces for $p\le 1$. Moreover, boundedness of the Hardy-Cesàro and Hardy-Bellman operators in various spaces (Lebesgue, Hardy, BMO) is discussed. One of our main tools is an appropriate version of the Hardy-Littlewood-Paley inequality $ \|\widehat{f}\|_{L_{p',q}} \lesssim \left\|f\right\|_{L_{p,q}}$.
We find the exact Bellman function for the weak $L^1$ norm of local positive dyadic shifts. We also describe a sequence of functions, self-similar in nature, which in the limit extremize the local weak-type (1,1) inequality.
We present in this paper some embeddings of various dyadic martingale Hardy-amalgam spaces $H^S_{p,q},\,\, H^s_{p,q},\,\,H^*_{p,q},\,\,\mathcal{Q}_{p,q}$ and $\mathcal{P}_{p,q}$ of the real line. In the same settings, we characterize the dual of $H^s_{p,q}$ for large $p$ and $q$. We also introduce a Garsia-type space $\mathcal{G}_{p,q}$ and characterize its dual space.
We describe the spaces $H^1(R)$ and BMO$(R)$ in terms of their closely related, simpler dyadic and two-sided counterparts. As a result of these characterizations we establish when a bounded linear operator defined on dyadic or two-sided $H^1(R)$ into a Banach space has a continuous extension to $H^1(R)$ and when a bounded linear operator that maps a Banach space into dyadic or two-sided BMO$(R)$ actually maps continuously into BMO$(R)$.
We give a quantitative characterization of the pairs of weights $(w,v)$ for which the dyadic version of the one-sided Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator satisfies a restricted weak $(p,p)$ type inequality, for $1\leq p<\infty$. More precisely, given any measurable set $E_0$ the estimate \[w(\{x\in \mathbb{R}^n: M^{+,d}(\mathcal{X}_{E_0})(x)>t\})\leq \frac{C[(w,v)]_{A_p^{+,d}(\mathcal{R})}^p}{t^p}v(E_0)\] holds if and only if the pair $(w,v)$ belongs to $A_p^{+,d}(\mathcal{R})$, that is \[\frac{|E|}{|Q|}\leq [(w,v)]_{A_p^{+,d}(\mathcal{R})}\left(\frac{v(E)}{w(Q)}\right)^{1/p}\] for every dyadic …
We develop technical tools that enable the use of Bellman functions for BMO defined on $α$-trees, which are structures that generalize dyadic lattices. As applications, we prove the integral John--Nirenberg inequality and an inequality relating $L^1$- and $L^2$-oscillations for BMO on $α$-trees, with explicit constants. When the tree in question is the collection of all dyadic cubes in $\mathbb{R}^n,$ the inequalities proved are sharp. We also reformulate the John--Nirenberg inequality for the continuous BMO in terms of special martingales generated by BMO functions. The tools presented can be…
We obtain the explicit upper Bellman function for the natural dyadic maximal operator acting from ${\rm BMO}(\mathbb{R}^n)$ into ${\rm BLO}(\mathbb{R}^n).$ As a consequence, we show that the ${\rm BMO}\to{\rm BLO}$ norm of the natural operator equals 1 for all $n,$ and so does the norm of the classical dyadic maximal operator. The main result is a partial corollary of a theorem for the so-called $α$-trees, which generalize dyadic lattices. The Bellman function in this setting exhibits an interesting quasi-periodic structure depending on $α,$ but also allows a majorant independent of $α,$ hence…
Let $S$ be the Lie group $\mathrm{R}^n\ltimes \mathrm{R}^+$ endowed with the left-invariant Riemannian symmetric space structure and the right Haar measure $ρ$, which is a Lie group of exponential growth. Hebisch and Steger in [Math. Z. 245(2003), 37--61] proved that any integrable function on $(S,ρ)$ admits a Calderón--Zygmund decomposition which involves a particular family of sets, called Calderón--Zygmund sets. In this paper, we first show the existence of a dyadic grid in the group $S$, which has {nice} properties similar to the classical Euclidean dyadic cubes. Using the properties of th…
The convex body maximal operator is a natural generalisation of the Hardy Littlewood maximal operator. In the presence of a matrix weight it is not bounded.
In this paper we show how to compute the $Λ_α$ norm, $α\ge 0$, using the dyadic grid. This result is a consequence of the description of the Hardy spaces $H^p(R^N)$ in terms of dyadic and special atoms.
In this note we give a proof-by-formula of certain important embedding inequalities on dyadic tree. This is done with the help of Bellman function. We also consider the case of a bi-tree, where a different approach is explained.
We give an alternative proof of a sharp generalization of an integral inequality for the dyadic maximal operator due to which the evaluation of the Bellman function of this operator with respect to two variables, is possible. This last mentioned inequality, which was first noticed in [3],also generalizes in a certain direction the results of [7].
In this paper we estimate the tail of distribution (i.e., the measure of the set $\{f\ge x\}$) for those functions $f$ whose dyadic square function is bounded by a given constant. In particular we get a bit better estimate than the estimate following from the Chang--Wilson--Wolf theorem. In the paper we investigate the Bellman function corresponding to the problem. A curious structure of this function is found: it has jumps of the first derivative at a dense subset of interval $[0,1]$ (where it is calculated exactly), but it is of $C^\infty$-class for $x>\sqrt3$ (where it is calculated up to a…
We give an explicit formula for one possible Bellman function associated with the $L^p$ boundedness of dyadic paraproducts regarded as bilinear operators or trilinear forms. Then we apply the same Bellman function in various other settings, to give self-contained alternative proofs of the estimates for several classical operators. These include the martingale paraproducts of Bañuelos and Bennett and the paraproducts with respect to the heat flows.
We prove that the class of Muckenhoupt A_p weights coincides with the intersection of finitely many suitable translates of dyadic A_p, in both the one-parameter and multiparameter cases, and that the analogous results hold for the reverse Hölder class RH_p, for doubling measures, and for the space VMO of functions of vanishing mean oscillation. We extend to the multiparameter (product) space BMO of functions of bounded mean oscillation the corresponding one-parameter BMO result due to T. Mei, by means of the Carleson-measure characterization of multiparameter BMO. Our results hold in both the …
We give a new proof of the sharp weighted $L^2$ inequality ||T||_{L^2(w)} \leq c [w]_{A_2} where $T$ is the Hilbert transform, a Riesz transform, the Beurling-Ahlfors operator or any operator that can be approximated by Haar shift operators. Our proof avoids the Bellman function technique and two weight norm inequalities. We use instead a recent result due to A. Lerner to estimate the oscillation of dyadic operators.
We show that the discrete Hardy-Littlewood maximal functions associated with the Euclidean balls in $\mathbb Z^d$ with dyadic radii have bounds independent of the dimension on $\ell^p(\mathbb Z^d)$ for $p\in[2, \infty]$.
In this note we give a new proof of the sharp constant $C = e^{-1/2} + \int_0^1 e^{-x^2/2}\,dx$ in the weak (1, 1) inequality for the dyadic square function. The proof makes use of two Bellman functions $\mathbb{L}$ and $\mathbb{M}$ related to the problem, and relies on certain relationships between $\mathbb{L}$ and $\mathbb{M}$, as well as the boundary values of these functions, which we find explicitly. Moreover, these Bellman functions exhibit an interesting behavior: the boundary solution for $\mathbb{M}$ yields the optimal obstacle condition for $\mathbb{L}$, and vice versa.
We consider the strong form of the John-Nirenberg inequality for the $L^2$-based BMO. We construct explicit Bellman functions for the inequality in the continuous and dyadic settings and obtain the sharp constant as well as the precise bound on the inequality's range of validity, both previously unknown. The results for the two cases are substantially different. The paper not only gives another instance in the short list of such explicit calculations, but also presents the Bellman function method as a sequence of clear steps, adaptable to a wide variety of applications.
In this note we investigate the multi-parameter Potential Theory on the weighted $d$-tree (Cartesian product of several copies of uniform dyadic tree), which is connected to the discrete models of weighted Dirichlet spaces on the polydisc. We establish some basic properties of the respective potentials, capacities and equilibrium measures (in particular in the case of product polynomial weights). We explore multi-parameter Hardy inequality and its trace measures, and discuss some open problems of potential-theoretic and combinatorial nature.
We use the Bellman function method to give an elementary proof of a sharp weighted estimate for the Haar shifts, which is linear in the $A_2$ norm of the weight and in the complexity of the shift. Together with the representation of a general Calderón--Zygmund operator as a weighted average (over all dyadic lattices) of Haar shifts, (cf. arXiv:1010.0755v2[math.CA], arXiv:1007.4330v1[math.CA]) it gives a significantly simpler proof of the so-called the $A_2$ conjecture. The main estimate is a very general fact about concave functions, which can be very useful in other problems of martingale Har…
Dependencies of the optimal constants in strong and weak type bounds will be studied between maximal functions corresponding to the Hardy--Littlewood averaging operators over convex symmetric bodies acting on $\mathbb R^d$ and $\mathbb Z^d$. Firstly, we show, in the full range of $p\in[1,\infty]$, that these optimal constants in $L^p(\mathbb R^d)$ are always not larger than their discrete analogues in $\ell^p(\mathbb Z^d)$; and we also show that the equality holds for the cubes in the case of $p=1$. This in particular implies that the best constant in the weak type $(1,1)$ inequality for the d…
Let $({\mathcal X},ρ,μ)$ be a space of homogeneous type in the sense of Coifman and Weiss, and $Y({\mathcal X})$ a ball quasi-Banach function space on ${\mathcal X}$, which supports a Fefferman--Stein vector-valued maximal inequality, and the boundedness of the powered Hardy--Littlewood maximal operator on its associate space. The authors first introduce the Hardy space $H_{Y}^*({\mathcal X})$, associated with $Y({\mathcal X})$, via the grand maximal function, and then establish its various real-variable characterizations, respectively, in terms of radial or non-tangential maximal functions, a…
We construct a new idempotent Fourier multiplier on the Hardy space on the bidisc, which could not be obtained by applying known one dimentional results. The main tool is a new $L^1$ equivalent of the Stein martingale inequality which holds for a special filtration of periodic subsets of $\mathbb{T}$ with some restrictions on the functions involved. We also identify the isomorphic type of the range of the associated operator as the independent sum of dyadic $H^1_n$, which is known to be a complemented and invariant subspace of dyadic $H^1$.
We study the vector-valued positive dyadic operator \[T_λ(fσ):=\sum_{Q\in\mathcal{D}} λ_Q \int_Q f \mathrm{d}σ1_Q,\] where the coefficients $\{λ_Q:C\to D\}_{Q\in\mathcal{D}}$ are positive operators from a Banach lattice $C$ to a Banach lattice $D$. We assume that the Banach lattices $C$ and $D^*$ each have the Hardy--Littlewood property. An example of a Banach lattice with the Hardy--Littlewood property is a Lebesgue space. In the two-weight case, we prove that the $L^p_C(σ)\to L^q_D(ω)$ boundedness of the operator $T_λ( \cdot σ)$ is characterized by the direct and the dual $L^\infty$ testing …
Let $(\mathbb{X},d,μ)$ be a space of homogeneous type in the sense of R. R. Coifman and G. Weiss, and $X(\mathbb{X})$ a ball quasi-Banach function space on $\mathbb{X}$. In this article, the authors introduce the weak Hardy space $WH_X(\mathbb{X})$ associated with $X(\mathbb{X})$ via the grand maximal function, and characterize $WH_X(\mathbb{X})$ by other maximal functions and atoms. The authors then apply these characterizations to obtain the real interpolation and the boundedness of Calderón--Zygmund operators in the critical case. The main novelties of this article exist in that the authors…
We prove multi-parameter dyadic embedding theorem for Hardy operator on the multi-tree. We also show that for a large class of Dirichlet spaces in bi-disc and tri-disc this proves the embedding theorem of those Dirichlet spaces of holomorphic function on bi- and tri-disc. We completely describe the Carleson measures for such embeddings. The result below generalizes embedding result of \cite{AMPVZ} from bi-tree to tri-tree. One of our embedding description is similar to Carleson--Chang--Fefferman condition and involves dyadic open sets. On the other hand, the unusual feature of \cite{AMPVZ} was…
