We present a large, homogeneous catalogue of molecular clouds within 4 kpc from the Sun at low Galactic latitudes ($|b|$ $<$ 10\degr) with unprecedented accurate distance determinations. Based on the three-dimensional dust reddening map and estimates of colour excesses and distances of over 32 million stars presented in Chen et al, we have identified 567 dust/molecular clouds with a hierarchical structure identification method and obtained their distance estimates by a dust model fitting algorithm. The typical distance uncertainty is less than 5 per cent. As far as we know, this is the first large catalogue of molecular clouds in the Galactic plane with distances derived in a direct manner. The clouds are seen to lie along the Sagittarius, Local and Perseus Arms. In addition to the known structures, we propose the existence of a possible {\it spur}, with a pitch angle of about 34\degr, connecting the Local and the Sagittarius Arms in the fourth quadrant. We have also derived the physical properties of those molecular clouds. The distribution of cloud properties in different parameter spaces agrees grossly with the previous results. Our cloud sample is an ideal starting point to study the concentration of dust and gas in the solar vicinity and their star formation activities.
We have studied a sample of more than 25 000 young stars with proper motions and trigonometric parallaxes from the Gaia DR2 catalogue. The relative errors of their parallaxes do not exceed 10\%. The selection of stars belonging to active star-forming regions was made by Marton et al. based on data from the Gaia DR2 catalogue by invoking infrared measurements from the WISE and Planck catalogues. Low-mass T Tauri stars constitute the majority of sample stars. The following parameters of the angular velocity of Galactic rotation have been found from them: $Ω_0 =28.40\pm0.11$ km s$^{-1}$ kpc$^{-1}…

Faint, hidden contaminants in the point-spread functions (PSFs) of stars cause shifts to their measured positions. Wilson & Naylor (2017) showed failing to account for these shifts can lead to a drastic decrease in the number of returned catalogue matches in crowded fields. Here we highlight the effect these perturbations have on cross-matching, for matches between Gaia DR2 and WISE stars in a crowded Galactic plane region. Applying the uncertainties as quoted to Gaussian-based astrometric uncertainty functions (AUFs) can lead, in dense Galactic fields, to only matching 55% of the counterparts…
We have studied the kinematic properties of young pre-main-sequence stars. We have selected these stars based on data from the Gaia DR2 catalogue by invoking a number of photometric infrared surveys. Using 4564 stars with parallax errors less than 20\%, we have found the following parameters of the angular velocity of Galactic rotation: $Ω_0 =28.84\pm0.10$ km s$^{-1}$ kpc$^{-1}$, $Ω^{'}_0=-4.063\pm0.029$ km s$^{-1}$ kpc$^{-2}$ and $Ω^{''}_0=0.766\pm0.020$ km s$^{-1}$ kpc$^{-3}$, where the Oort constants are $A=16.25\pm0.33$ km s$^{-1}$ kpc$^{-1}$ and $B=-12.58\pm0.34$ km s$^{-1}$ kpc$^{-1}$. T…
We have studied a sample containing about 6000 OB stars with proper motions and trigonometric parallaxes from the Gaia DR2 catalogue. The following parameters of the angular velocity of Galactic rotation have been found: $Ω_0=29.70\pm0.11$ km s$^{-1}$ kpc$^{-1}$, $Ω'_0=-4.035\pm0.031$ km s$^{-1}$ kpc$^{-2}$, and $Ω''_0= 0.620\pm0.014$ km s$^{-1}$ kpc$^{-3}$. The circular rotation velocity of the solar neighborhood around the Galactic center is $V_0=238\pm5$ km s$^{-1}$ for the adopted Galactocentric distance of the Sun $R_0=8.0\pm0.15$ kpc. The amplitudes of the tangential and radial velocity …
In this paper, we present the first extended catalogue of far-infrared fluxes of Galactic bubbles. Fluxes were estimated for 1814 bubbles, defined here as the `golden sample', and were selected from the Milky Way Project First Data Release (Simpson et al.) The golden sample was comprised of bubbles identified within the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) dataset (using 12- and 22-$μ$m images) and Herschel data (using 70-, 160-, 250-, 350- and 500-$μ$m wavelength images). Flux estimation was achieved initially via classical aperture photometry and then by an alternative image analysis a…
In this paper we present the astro-photometric catalogues of 56 globular clusters and one open cluster. Astrometry and photometry are mainly based on images collected within the "HST Legacy Survey of Galactic Globular Clusters: Shedding UV Light on Their Populations and Formation" (GO-13297, PI:~Piotto), and the "ACS Survey of Galactic Globular Clusters" (GO-10775, PI:~Sarajedini). For each source in the catalogues for which we have reliable proper motion we also publish a membership probability for separation of field and cluster stars. These new catalogues, which we make public in Mikulski A…
We present a catalogue of 551,214 main-sequence stars in the local ($d < 2$ kpc) Galactic thick disk and halo, based on a search of stars with large proper motions ($μ_{\mathrm{tot}} > 40.0$ mas/yr) in the Gaia Early Data Release 3. We derive photometric metallicity calibrated from the colour-luminosity-metallicity distribution of 20,047 stars with spectroscopic metallicities, collected from various spectroscopic surveys, including SDSS SEGUE/APOGEE, GALAH DR3, and LAMOST DR6. We combine these results to construct an empirical colour-magnitude-metallicity grid, which can be used to estimate ph…
We have studied the simultaneous and separate solutions of the basic kinematic equations obtained using the stellar velocities calculated on the basis of data from the Gaia TGAS and RAVE5 catalogues. By comparing the values of Omega_0' found by separately analyzing only the line-of-sight velocities of stars and only their proper motions, we have determined the distance scale correction factor p to be close to unity, 0.97+/-0.04. Based on the proper motions of stars from the Gaia TGAS catalogue with relative trigonometric parallax errors less than 10% (they are at a mean distance of 226 pc), we…
A revised catalogue of Galactic supernova remnants (SNRs) is presented, along with some simple statistics of their properties. Six new SNRs have been added to the catalogue since the previous published version from 2014, and six entries have been removed, as they have been identified as HII regions, leaving the number of entries in the catalogue at 294. Some simple statistics of the remnants in the catalogue, and the selection effects that apply, are discussed, along with some recently proposed Galactic SNR candidates.
The recent data collected by {\it Herschel} have confirmed that interstellar structures with filamentary shape are ubiquitously present in the Milky Way. Filaments are thought to be formed by several physical mechanisms acting from the large Galactic scales down to the sub-pc fractions of molecular clouds, and they might represent a possible link between star formation and the large-scale structure of the Galaxy. In order to study this potential link, a statistically significant sample of filaments spread throughout the Galaxy is required. In this work we present the first catalogue of $32,059…
We have selected a sample of 326 young $(\log t<8)$ open star clusters with the proper motions and distances calculated by various authors from Gaia DR2 data. The mean values of their line-of-sight velocities have also been taken from various publications. As a result of our kinematic analysis, we have found the following parameters of the angular velocity of Galactic rotation: $Ω_0=29.34\pm0.31$ km s$^{-1}$ kpc$^{-1}$, $Ω'_0=-4.012\pm0.074$ km s$^{-1}$ kpc$^{-2}$, and $Ω''_0=0.779\pm0.062$ km s$^{-1}$ kpc$^{-3}$. The circular rotation velocity of the solar neighborhood around the Galactic cen…
We have analyzed the kinematics of 9750 OB2 stars with proper motions and parallaxes selected by Xu et al. from the Gaia EDR3 catalogue. The relative parallax errors for these stars do not exceed 10\%. Based on the entire sample of stars, we have found the velocities $(U,V)_\odot=(7.17,7.37)\pm(0.16,0.24)$ km s$^{-1}$ and the components of the angular velocity of Galactic rotation: $Ω_0 =29.700\pm0.076$ km s$^{-1}$ kpc$^{-1}$, $Ω^{'}_0 =-4.008\pm0.022$ km s$^{-1}$ kpc$^{-2}$, and $Ω^{''}_0 = 0.671\pm0.011$ km s$^{-1}$ kpc$^{-3}$, where the linear rotation velocity of the Galaxy at the solar di…
We have analyzed the kinematics of OB stars from the list by Xiang et al. (2021) that contains $\sim$13 000 single OB stars. For these stars there are photometric distance estimates and proper motions from the Gaia catalogue and line-of-sight velocities from the LAMOST catalogue. Based on a sample of single OB stars and using the photometric distances and proper motions of stars from the Gaia EDR3 catalogue, we have found the group velocity components $(U_\odot,V_\odot,W_\odot)=(9.63,9.93,7.45)\pm(0.27,0.34,0.10)$ km s$^{-1}$, and the following parameters of the angular velocity of Galactic ro…
Several studies have been presented in the last few years applying some kind of automatic processing of data to estimate the fundamental parameters of open clusters. These parameters are later on employed in larger scale analyses, for example the structure of the Galaxy's spiral arms. The distance is one of the more straightforward parameters to estimate, yet enormous differences can still be found among published data. This is particularly true for open clusters located more than a few kpc away. We cross-matched several published catalogues and selected the twenty-five most distant open clust…
We have selected and analyzed a sample of OB stars with known line-of-sight velocities determined through ground-based observations and with trigonometric parallaxes and proper motions from the Gaia DR2 catalogue. Some of the stars in our sample have distance estimates made from calcium lines. A direct comparison with the trigonometric distance scale has shown that the calcium distance scale should be reduced by 13\%. The following parameters of the Galactic rotation curve have been determined from 495 OB stars with relative parallax errors less than 30\%: $(U,V,W)_\odot=(8.16,11.19,8.55)\pm(0…
We describe a catalogue of gamma-ray source candidates, selected using the Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) algorithm on the 9-years Fermi-LAT sky (Pass 8) at energies higher than 10 GeV. The extragalactic sky at absolute Galactic latitudes above 20 degrees has been investigated using rather restrictive selection criteria, resulting in a total sample of 1342 sources. Of these, 249 are new detections, not previously associated with gamma-ray catalogues. A large fraction of them have interesting counterparts, most likely blazars. In this paper the main results on the catalogue selection and search of…
Context. RR Lyrae stars are useful standard candles allowing one to derive accurate distances for old star clusters. Based on the recent catalogues from OGLE-IV and Gaia Early Data Release 3 (EDR3), the distances can be improved for a few bulge globular clusters. Aims. The aim of this work is to derive an accurate distance for the following six moderately metal-poor, relatively high-reddening bulge globular clusters: NGC 6266, NGC 6441, NGC 6626, NGC 6638, NGC 6642, and NGC 6717. Methods. We combined newly available OGLE-IV catalogues of variable stars containing mean I magnitudes, with Clemen…
We present a RR Lyrae (RRL) catalogue based on the combination of the third data release of the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF DR3) and \textit{Gaia} EDR3. We use a multi-step classification pipeline relying on the Fourier decomposition fitting to the multi-band ZTF light curves and random forest classification. The resulting catalogue contains 71,755 RRLs with period and light curve parameter measurements and has completeness of 0.92 and purity of 0.92 with respect to the SOS \textit{Gaia} DR2 RRLs. The catalogue covers the Northern sky with declination $\geq -28^\circ$, its completeness is $…
The initial conditions of stellar protocluster formation. II. A catalogue of starless and protostellar clumps embedded in IRDCs in the Galactic longitude range 15<l<55
We present an updated version catalogue of gamma-ray source candidates, 12Y-MST, selected using the minimum spanning tree (MST) algorithm on the 12-year Fermi-LAT sky (Pass 8) at energies higher than 10 GeV. The high-energy sky at absolute Galactic latitudes above 20 degrees has been investigated using rather restrictive selection criteria, resulting in a total sample of 1664 photon clusters, or candidate sources. Of these, 230 are new detections, that is, candidate sources without any association in other gamma-ray catalogues. A large fraction of them have interesting counterparts, most likel…
We present a catalogue of point-like Hα-excess sources in the Northern Galactic Plane. Our catalogue is created using a new technique that leverages astrometric and photomeric information from Gaia to select Hα-bright outliers in the INT Photometric Hα Survey of the Northern Galactic Plane (IPHAS), across the colour-absolute magnitude diagram. To mitigate the selection biases due to stellar population mixing and to extinction, the investigated objects are first partitioned with respect to their positions in the Gaia colour-absolute magnitude space, and in the Galactic coordinates space, respec…
We have studied the kinematic properties of the candidates for hot subdwarfs (HSDs) selected by Geier et al. from the Gaia DR2 catalogue. We have used a total of 12 515 stars with relative trigonometric parallax errors less than 30\%. The HSDs are shown to have different kinematics, depending on their positions on the celestial sphere. For example, the sample of low-latitude $(|b|<20^\circ)$ HSDs rotates around the Galactic center with a linear velocity $V_0=221\pm5$ km s$^{-1}$. This suggests that they belong to the Galactic thin disk. At the same time, they lag behind the local standard of r…
In order to construct a catalogue of oxygen-rich (noted M) asymptotic giant branch (AGB) stars in the halo, complementing those of carbon-rich (C) stars, previous lists of Miras and SRa semiregulars located in the nor thern hemisphere are merged and cleaned of various defects. After putting aside known C stars, characteristics lik e colours and periods indicate that most of the remaining objects are M stars. Distances are obtained through the pe riod-luminosity relation. By considering their position in the sky, stars lying at $|Z| > 5$~kpc are confirmed to b e in majority in the Sgr tidal arm…
The high extinction and extreme source crowding of the central regions of the Milky Way are serious obstacles to the study of the structure and stellar population of the Galactic centre (GC). Existing surveys that cover the GC region (2MASS, UKIDSS, VVV, SIRIUS) do not have the necessary high angular resolution. Therefore, a high-angular-resolution survey in the near infrared is crucial to improve the state of the art. Here, we present the GALACTICNUCLEUS catalogue, a near infrared $JHK_s$ high-angular-resolution ($0.2''$) survey of the nuclear bulge of the Milky Way. We explain in detail the …
Large-scale radio continuum surveys provide data to get insights into the physical properties of radio sources. HII regions are prominent radio sources produced by thermal emission of ionised gas around young massive stars. We identify and analyse HII regions in the Sino-German 6cm polarisation survey of the Galactic plane. Objects with flat radio continuum spectra together with infrared and/or Halpha emission were identified as HII regions. For HII regions with small apparent sizes, we cross-matched the 6cm small-diameter source catalogue with the radio HII region catalogue compiled by Paladi…

I derive the overall best distances for all 402 known galactic novae, and I collect their many properties. The centrepiece is the 74 novae with accurate parallaxes from the new Gaia data release. For the needed priors, I have collected 171 distances based on old methods (including expansion parallaxes and extinction distances). Further, I have collected the V-magnitudes at peak and the extinction measures, so as to produce absolute magnitudes at peak and then derive a crude distance as a prior. Further, I have recognized that 41 per cent of the known novae are concentrated in the bulge, with 6…
Knowledge about the large-scale distribution of galaxies is far from complete in the Zone of Avoidance, which is mostly due to high interstellar extinction and to source confusion at lower Galactic latitudes. Past near-infrared (NIR) surveys, such as the Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS), have shown the power of probing large-scale structure at these latitudes. Our aim is to map the galaxy distribution across the Southern Galactic plane using the VISTA Variables in the Vía Láctea Survey (VVV), which reach 2 to 4 magnitudes deeper than 2MASS. We used SExtractor + PSFEx to identify extended obje…
The {\it Herschel} Astrophysical Terahertz Large Area Survey (H-ATLAS) is a survey of 660 deg$^2$ with the PACS and SPIRE cameras in five photometric bands: 100, 160, 250, 350 and 500\mic. This is the second of three papers describing the data release for the large fields at the south and north Galactic poles (NGP and SGP). In this paper we describe the catalogues of far-infrared and submillimetre sources for the NGP and SGP, which cover 177 deg$^2$ and 303 deg$^2$, respectively. The catalogues contain 153,367 sources for the NGP field and 193,527 sources for the SGP field detected at more tha…
We consider open star clusters (OSCs) with the proper motions, parallaxes, and line-of-sight velocities calculated by various authors from Gaia DR2 data. The distance scale factor has been found by analyzing the separate solutions of the basic kinematic equations to be $p=1.00\pm0.04.$ It shows that the distances calculated using the parallaxes from the Gaia DR2 catalogue do not need any correction factor. We have investigated the solutions obtained from various OSC samples differing in both age and accuracy of their parallax and line-of-sight velocity measurements. The solution obtained from …
We have analyzed the kinematics of open star clusters (OSCs) with the proper motions and distances calculated by Hao et al. based on Gaia EDR3 data. The mean line-of-sight velocities are known for a number of clusters from this list. We show that the Galactic rotation parameters determined from samples of OSCs with various ages are in good agreement between themselves. The most interesting results have been obtained from a sample of 967 youngest OSCs with a mean age of 18 Myr. In particular, we have found the following parameters of the angular velocity of Galactic rotation using only their pr…
