We derive an explicit formula for the asymptotic slope of the Aubin-Yau functional along a Bergman geodesic on a surface of complex dimension 2, extending the work of Phong-Sturm on Riemann surfaces. This is equivalent to an explicit calculation of the Donaldson-Futaki invariant of a test configuration. The slope is given as a rational linear combination of period integrals of rational functions that sum to a rational number. The result gives a way to check directly whether a two dimensional projective variety is K-stable.
Based on the Cayley, Grothendieck, Knudsen Mumford theory of determinants we extend the CM polarization to the Hilbert scheme. We identify the weight of this refined line bundle with the generalized Futaki invariant of Donaldson. We are able to conclude that CM stability implies K-Stability. An application of the Grothendieck Riemann Roch Theorem shows that this refined sheaf is isomorphic to the CM polarization introduced by Tian in 1994 on any closed, simply connected base .
A polarized variety is K-stable if, for any test configuration, the Donaldson-Futaki invariant is positive. In this paper, inspired by classical geometric invariant theory, we describe the space of test configurations as a limit of a direct system of Tits buildings. We show that the Donaldson-Futaki invariant, conveniently normalized, is a continuous function on this space. We also introduce a pseudo-metric on the space of test configurations. Recall that K-stability can be enhanced by requiring that the Donaldson-Futaki invariant is positive on any admissible filtration of the co-ordinate rin…
We give a formula of the Donaldson-Futaki invariants for certain type of semi test configurations, which essentially generalizes Ross-Thomas' slope theory. The positivity (resp. non-negativity) of those "a priori special" Donaldson-Futaki invariants implies K-stability (resp. K-semistability). We show its applicability by proving K-(semi)stability of certain polarized varieties with semi-log-canonical singularities, generalizing some results by Ross-Thomas.
G. Tian and S.K. Donaldson formulated a conjecture relating GIT stability of a polarized algebraic variety to the existence of a Kahler metric of constant scalar curvature. In [Don02] Donaldson partially confirmed it in the case of projective toric varieties. In this paper we extend Donaldson's results and computations to a new case, that of reductive varieties. The changes in the second version are cosmetic.
We study the scalar curvature of Kähler metrics that have cone singularities along a divisor, with a particular focus on certain specific classes of such metrics that enjoy some curvature estimates. Our main result is that, on the projective completion of a pluricanonical bundle over a product of Kähler--Einstein Fano manifolds with the second Betti number 1, momentum-constructed constant scalar curvature Kähler metrics with cone singularities along the $\infty$-section exist if and only if the log Futaki invariant vanishes on the fibrewise $\mathbb{C}^*$-action, giving a supporting evidence t…
We study logarithmic K-stability for pairs by extending the formula for Donaldson-Futaki invariants to log setting. We also provide algebro-geometric counterparts of recent results of existence of Kahler-Einstein metrics with cone singularities.
We extend the framework of K-stability (Tian, Donaldson) to more general algebro-geometric setting, such as partial desingularisations of (fixed) singularities, (not necessarily flat) families over higher dimensional base and the classical birational geometry of surfaces. We also observe that "concavity" of the volume function implies decrease of the (generalised) Donaldson-Futaki invariants along the Minimal Model Program, in our generalised settings. Several related results on the connection with the MMP theory, some of which are new even in the original setting of families over curves, are …
In this paper we extend the notion of Futaki invariant to big and nef classes in such a way that it defines a continuous function on the \K\ cone up to the boundary. We apply this concept to prove that reduced normal crossing singularities are sufficient to check $K$-semistability. A similar improvement on Donaldson's lower bound for Calabi energy is given.
We obtain a necessary and sufficient condition of existence of a K{ä}hler-Einstein metric on a $G\times G$-equivariant Fano compactification of a complex connected reductive group $G$ in terms of the associated polytope. This condition is not equivalent to the vanishing of the Futaki invariant. The proof relies on the continuity method and its translation into a real Monge-Amp{è}re equation, using the invariance under the action of a maximal compact subgroup $K\times K$.
We consider canonical metrics on Fano manifolds. First we introduce a norm-type functional on Fano manifolds, which has Kahler-Einstein or Kahler-Ricci soliton as its critical point and the Kahler-Ricci flow can be viewed as its (reduced) gradient flow. We then obtain a natural lower bound of this functional. As an application, we prove that Kahler-Ricci soliton, if exists, maximizes Perelman's $μ$-functional without extra assumptions. Second we consider a conjecture proposed by S.K. Donaldson in terms of $\cK$-energy. Our simple observation is that $\cF$-functional, as $\cK$-energy, also inte…
Let $G$ be a connected, complex reductive Lie group and $X$ a $\mathbb Q$-Fano $G$-spherical variety. In this paper we compute the weighed non-Archimedean functionals of a $G$-equivariant normal test configurations of $X$ via combinatory data. Also we define a modified Futaki invariant with respect to the weight $g$, and give an expression in terms of intersection numbers. Finally we show the equivalence of different notations of stability and gives a stability criterion on $\mathbb Q$-Fano spherical varieties, which is also a criterion of existence of Kähler-Ricci $g$-solitons.

Let $X$ be a complex toric Fano $n$-fold and ${\cal N}(T)$ the normalizer of a maximal torus $T$ in the group of biholomorphic authomorphisms $Aut(X)$. We call $X$ {\em symmetric} if the trivial character is a single ${\cal N}(T)$-invariant algebraic character of $T$. Using an invariant $α_G(X)$ introduced by Tian, we show that all symmetric toric Fano $n$-folds admit an Einstein-Kähler metric. We remark that so far one doesn't know any example of a toric Fano $n$-fold $X$ such that $Aut(X)$ is reductive, the Futaki character of $X$ vanishes, but $X$ is not symmetric.
For any flat projective family $(\mX,\mL)\rightarrow C$ such that the generic fibre $\mX_η$ is a klt Q-Fano variety and $\mL|_{\mX_η}\sim_{Q}-K_{X_η}$, we use the techniques from the minimal model program (MMP) to modify the total family. The end product is a family such that every fiber is a klt Q-Fano variety. Moreover, we can prove that the Donaldson-Futaki invariants of the appearing models decrease. When the family is a test configuration of a fixed Fano variety $(X,-K_X)$, this implies Tian's conjecture: given $X$ a Fano manifold, to test its K-(semi, poly)stability, we only need to test…
We embed polarised orbifolds with cyclic stabiliser groups into weighted projective space via a weighted form of Kodaira embedding. Dividing by the (non-reductive) automorphisms of weighted projective space then formally gives a moduli space of orbifolds. We show how to express this as a reductive quotient and so a GIT problem, thus defining a notion of stability for orbifolds. We then prove an orbifold version of Donaldson's theorem: the existence of an orbifold Kahler metric of constant scalar curvature implies K-semistability. By extending the notion of slope stability to orbifolds we there…
Let $X$ be any $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano variety and $\mathrm{Aut}(X)_0$ be the identity component of the automorphism group of $X$. Let $\mathbb{G}$ be a connected reductive subgroup of $\mathrm{Aut}(X)_0$ that contains a maximal torus of $\mathrm{Aut}(X)_0$. We prove that $X$ admits a Kähler-Einstein metric if and only if $X$ is $\mathbb{G}$-uniformly K-stable. This proves a version of Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture for arbitrary singular Fano varieties. A key new ingredient is a valuative criterion for $\mathbb{G}$-uniform K-stability.
