Within the scope of a FRW cosmological model we have studied the role of spinor field in the evolution of the Universe when it is non-minimally coupled to the gravitational one. We have considered a few types of nonlinearity. It was found that if the spinor field nonlinearity describes an ordinary matter such as radiation, the presence of non-minimality becomes essential and leads to the rapid expansion of the Universe, whereas if the spinor field nonlinearity describes a dark energy, the evolution of the Universe is dominated by it and the difference between the minimal and non-minimally coupled cases become almost indistinguishable.
Different characteristic of matter influencing the evolution of the Universe has been simulated by means of a nonlinear spinor field. Exploiting the spinor description of perfect fluid and dark energy evolution of the Universe given by an anisotropic Bianchi type-I (BI) or isotropic Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) one has been studied.
In this work, we study quantum fluctuations in the stress energy tensor of spinor fields evolving in general FRW spacetimes. We quantify these fluctuations by the noise kernel of spinor fields. For the particular case of de Sitter spacetime, we place the spinor field in what is called the fermionic Bunch Davies vacuum and study the variation of the noise kernel with the mass of the field. We then make use of the conformal invariance of massless spinor fields and employ an equivalence that relates a massless spinor field in any given FRW spacetime with a corresponding massless spinor field in d…
In this work we perform a dynamical analysis of a broad class of non-minimally coupled real scalar fields in the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) spacetime framework. The first part of our study concerns the dynamics of an unspecified positive potential in a spatially curved FRW spacetime, for which we define a new set of dimensionless variables and a new evolution parameter. In the framework of this general setup we have recognized several general features of the system, like symmetries, invariant subsets and critical points, and provide their cosmological interpretation. The second part of o…
We study conformal coupling of dark spinor fields to gravity and calculate the energy density and the pressure of the spinor in FRW spacetime. We consider the renormalizable potential of the spinor field. In the cases where the field is proportional to some power of the cosmic scale factor $a(t)$, we determine the Hubble parameter as a function of the scale factor and find analytic solutions for $a(t)$ when the spinor field matter dilutes as the universe expands. We discuss the possibility that both matter- and dark energy-dominated eras of our universe can be described by the dark spinor.
The interaction of massless minimally coupled scalar field and spinor field $ \left( Ψ+ Φ_m \rightarrow Ψ+ Φ_m \right) $ is investigated and the behavior of interaction and scattering matrix in Minkowski limit is studied. It is seen that the massless minimally coupled scalar field operator, the interaction Lagrangian and the scattering matrix become zero. Also the incoming and outgoing spinor fields, which in de Sitter space-time are different and are interacted with massless minimally coupled scalar field, in null curvature limit are the same and no interaction seen. In other word, the massle…
The solution to the current extending Universe problem, and the description of all stages of evolution compels scientists to consider various cosmological models. Scalar - tensor models are rather simple and also allow us to clearly define the separate stages of evolution. Furthermore, other cosmological models are reduced. Our work takes into consideration the non-minimally interacted scalar field and the spinor field. The spinor field has been considered to establish a better understanding of the stages of evolution in our Universe.
In this paper we investigate the accelerating and decelerating cosmological models with non-linear spinor fields and non-minimal interaction of $f(R)$ gravity with a scalar field. We combine two different approaches to the description of dark energy: modified gravity theory and introduction of the additional fields. Solutions for the FRW universe with power-law scale factor are reconstructed for the model under consideration with specific choice for scalar and spinor potentials. It is explained the role of scalar and spinor potentials as well as f(R) function for emergence of accelerating or d…
Within the scope of Bianchi type-$I$ cosmological model we have studied the role of spinor field in the evolution of the Universe. In doing so we have considered the case with non-minimal coupling. It was found that the non-diagonal components of the energy-momentum tensor of the spinor field, hence the restrictions on the space-time geometry remain the same as in case of minimal coupling. Since in this case the diagonal components of the energy-momentum tensor differ, the evolution of the corresponding universe also differs. For example, while a linear spinor field with non-minimal coupling o…
The scalar-spinor interaction Lagrangian is presented by the Yukawa potential. In dS ambient space formalism, the interaction Lagrangian of scalar-spinor fields was obtained from a new transformation which is very similar to the guage theory. The interaction of massless minimally coupled scalar and spinor fields was investigated. The Minkowski limit of the massless minimally coupled scalar field and massive spinor field interaction in the ambient space formalism of de Sitter space time is calculated. The interaction Lagrangian and massless minimally coupled scalar field in the null curvature l…
In this paper, we investigated inflationary solutions for a subclass of Horndeski models where a scalar field is non-minimally coupled with the Gauss-Bonnet invariant. Examples of canonical scalar field and $k$-essence to support the early-time acceleration are considered. The formalism to calculate the perturbations in FRW universe and to derive the spectral index and the tensor-to-scalar ratio is furnished.
We study the evolution of the dark energy parameter within the scope of a spatially flat and isotropic Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) model filled with barotropic fluid and dark energy. To obtain the deterministic solution we choose the scale factor $a(t) = \sqrt{t e^{t}}$ which yields a time dependent deceleration parameter (DP). In doing so we consider the case minimally coupled with dark energy to the perfect fluid as well as direct interaction with it.
Simple linear second-order differential equations have been written down for FRW cosmologies with barotropic fluids by Faraoni. His results have been extended by Rosu, who employed techniques belonging to nonrelativistic supersymmetry to obtain time-dependent adiabatic indices. Further extensions are presented here using the known connection between the linear second-order differential equations and Dirac-like equations in the same supersymmetric context. These extensions are equivalent to adding an imaginary part to the adiabatic index which is proportional to the mass parameter of the Dirac …
The paper deals with a spatially homogeneous and isotropic FRW space-time filled with perfect fluid and dark energy components. The two sources are assumed to interact minimally, and therefore their energy momentum tensors are conserved separately. A special law of variation for the Hubble parameter proposed by Berman (1983) has been utilized to solve the field equations. The Berman's law yields two explicit forms of the scale factor governing the FRW space-time and constant values of deceleration parameter. The role of dark energy with variable equation of state parameter has been studied in …
The massless minimally coupled scalar field in de Sitter ambient space formalism might play a similar role to what the Higgs scalar field accomplishes within the electroweak standard model. With the introduction of a "local transformation" for this field, the interaction Lagrangian between the scalar field and the spinor field can be made similar to a gauge theory. In the null curvature limit, the Yukawa potential can be constructed from that Lagrangian. Finally the one-loop correction of the scalar-spinor interaction is presented, which is free of any infrared divergence.
Within the scope of isotropic FRW cosmological model the role of nonlinear spinor field in the evolution of the Universe is studied. It is found that unlike in anisotropic cosmological models in the present case the spinor field does not possess nontrivial non-diagonal components of energy-momentum tensor, consequently does not impose any additional restrictions on the components of the spinor field or metric function. The spinor description of different matter was given and evolution of the Universe corresponding to these sources is illustrated. In the framework of a three fluid system the ut…
Different characteristic of matter influencing the evolution of the Universe has been simulated by means of a nonlinear spinor field. Exploiting the spinor description of perfect fluid and dark energy evolution of the Universe given by an anisotropic Bianchi type-VI, VI$_0$, V, III, I or isotropic Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) one has been studied. It is shown that due to some restrictions on metric functions, initial anisotropy in the models Bianchi type-VI, VI$_0$, V and III does not die away, while the anisotropic Bianchi type-I models evolves into the isotropic one.
In de Sitter ambient space formalism, the massless minimally coupled scalar field can be constructed from a massless conformally coupled scalar field and a constant five-vector $A^α$. Also, a constant five-vector $B^α$ appears in the interaction Lagrangian of massless minimally coupled scalar and spinor fields in this formalism. These constant five-vector fields can be fixed in the interaction case in the null curvature limit. Here we will calculate the $\cal S$ matrix elements of scalar-spinor fields interaction in the tree level approximation. Then the constant five-vectors $A^α$ and $B^α$, …
Using coherent and squeezed state formalisms of quantum optics for a minimally coupled non-classical inflaton in the FRW mertic is studied, in semiclassical theory of gravity. The leading order solution for the semiclassical Einstein equations in the coherent, squeezed and squeezed vacuum states are obtained perturbatively and are exhibit powerlaw expansion behaviour. The validity of the semiclassical theory is examined in the squeezed vacuum state in the oscillatory phase of the inflaton. The semiclassical theory in the oscillatory phase of the non-classical inflaton holds only if the associa…
We analyze the quantum supersymmetric cosmological FRW model with a scalar field, with a conditional probability density and the scalar field identified as time. The Hilbert space has a spinorial structure and there is only one consistent solution, with a conserved probability density. The dynamics of the scale factor is obtained from its mean value. The uncertainty relations are fulfilled and the corresponding fluctuations are consistent with a semiclassical Universe. We give two examples which turn out to have negative potential.
The specific behavior of spinor field in curve space-time with the exception of FRW model almost always gives rise to non-trivial non-diagonal components of the energy-momentum tensor. This non-triviality of non-diagonal components of the energy-momentum tensor imposes some severe restrictions either on the spinor field or on the metric functions. In this paper within the scope of an anisotropic Bianchi type-I Universe we study the role of spinor field in the evolution of the Universe. It is found that there exist two possibilities. In one scenario the initially anisotropic Universe evolves in…
In this article, we summarize two agnostic approaches in the framework of spatially curved Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) cosmologies discussed in detail in (Kerachian et al., 2020, 2019). The first case concerns the dynamics of a fluid with an unspecified barotropic equation of state (EoS), for which the only assumption made is the non-negativity of the fluid's energy density. The second case concerns the dynamics of a non-minimally coupled real scalar field with unspecified positive potential. For each of these models, we define a new set of dimensionless variables and a new evolution para…
Within the scope of Bianchi type-I cosmological model we study the role of spinor field in the evolution of the Universe. It is found that due to the spinor affine connections the energy momentum tensor of the spinor becomes non-diagonal, whereas the Einstein tensor is diagonal. This non-triviality of non-diagonal components of the energy-momentum tensor imposes some severe restrictions either on the spinor field or on the metric functions or on both of them. In case if the restrictions are imposed on the components of spinor field only, we come to a situation when spinor field becomes massles…
While it is generally accepted, in the framework of Poincare gauge theory, that the Lorentz connection couples minimally to spinor fields, there is no general agreement on the coupling of the translational gauge field to fermions. We will show that the assumption that spinors carry a full Poincare representation leads to inconsistencies, whose origins will be traced back by considering the Poincare group both as the contraction of the de Sitter group, and as a subgroup of the conformal group. As a result, the translational fields do not minimally couple to fermions, and consequently, fermions …
We study the evolution of a three-dimensional minisuperspace cosmological model by the Noether symmetry approach. The phase space variables turn out to correspond to the scale factor of a flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) model, a scalar field with potential function $V(ϕ)$ with which the gravity part of the action is minimally coupled and a vector field of its kinetic energy is coupled with the scalar field by a coupling function $f(ϕ)$. Then, the Noether symmetry of such a cosmological model is investigated by utilizing the behavior of the corresponding Lagrangian under the infinitesimal…
We discuss the static spherically symmetric Einstein-spinor field system in the possible presence of various spinor field nonlinearities. We take into account that the spinor field energy-momentum tensor (EMT) has in general some off-diagonal components, whose vanishing due to the Einstein equations substantially affects the form of the spinor field itself and the space-time geometry. In particular, the EMT structure with any spinor field nonlinearities turns out to be the same as that of the EMT of a minimally coupled scalar field with a self-interaction potential. Therefore many results prev…
We revisit models, within the Einstein-Cartan theory, where the cosmological constant $Λ$ is promoted to a variable, at the cost of allowing for torsion even in the absence of spinors. We remark that some standard notions about FRW Universes collapse in these theories, most notably spatial homogeneity and isotropy may now co-exist with violations of parity invariance. The parity violating solutions have non-vanishing Weyl curvature even within FRW models. The presence of parity violating torsion opens up the space of possible such theories with relevant FRW modifications: in particular the Pon…
The present paper analyses the Einstein-Cartan theory of gravitation with Elko spinors as sources of curvature and torsion. After minimally coupling the Elko spinors to torsion, the spin angular momentum tensor is derived and its structure is discussed. It shows a much richer structure than the Dirac analogue and hence it is demonstrated that spin one half particles do not necessarily yield only an axial vector torsion component. Moreover, it is argued that the presence of Elko spinors partially solves the problem of minimally coupling Maxwell fields to Einstein-Cartan theory.
The classical and quantum dynamics of the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker Universe with massless scalar and massive fermion matter field as a source is discussed in the framework of the Dirac generalized Hamiltonian formalism. The Hamiltonian reduction of this constrained system is realized for two cases of minimal and conformal coupling between gravity and matter. It is shown that in both cases for all values of curvature, of maximally symmetric space there exists a time independent reduced local Hamiltonian which describes the dynamics of the cosmic scale factor. The relevance of conformal time-l…
We present the four-dimensional equations on a brane with a scalar field non-minimally coupled to the induced Ricci curvature, embedded in a five-dimensional bulk with a cosmological constant. This is a natural extension to a brane-world context of scalar-tensor (Brans-Dicke) gravity. In particular we consider the cosmological evolution of a homogeneous and isotropic (FRW) brane. We identify low-energy and strong-coupling limits in which we recover effectively four-dimensional evolution. We find de Sitter brane solutions with both constant and evolving scalar field. We also consider the specia…
The FRW model with non-minimally coupled massive scalar field has been investigated in LQC framework. Considered form of the potential and coupling allows applications to Higgs driven inflation. Out of two frames used in the literature to describe such systems: Jordan and Einstein frame, the latter one is applied. Specifically, we explore the idea of the Einstein frame being the natural 'environment' for quantization and the Jordan picture having an emergent nature. The resulting dynamics qualitatively modifies the standard bounce paradigm in LQC in two ways: (i) the bounce point is no longer …
We give a systematic treatment of a spin 1/2 particle in a combined electromagnetic field and a weak gravitational field that is produced by a slowly moving matter source. This paper continues previous work on a spin zero particle, but it is largely self-contained and may serve as an introduction to spinors in a Riemann space. The analysis is based on the Dirac equation expressed in generally covariant form and coupled minimally to the electromagnetic field. The restriction to a slowly moving matter source, such as the earth, allows us to describe the gravitational field by a gravitoelectric (…
First-order semiclassical perturbations to the Schwarzschild black hole geometry are studied within the black hole interior. The source of the perturbations is taken to be the vacuum stress-energy of quantized scalar, spinor, and vector fields, evaluated using analytic approximations developed by Page and others (for massless fields) and the DeWitt-Schwinger approximation (for massive fields). Viewing the interior as an anisotropic collapsing cosmology, we find that minimally or conformally coupled scalar fields, and spinor fields, decrease the anisotropy as the singularity is approached, whil…
In this work we consider a scale-tensor theory in which the space-time is endowed with a Weyl integrable geometrical structure due to the Palatini variational method. Since the scalar field has a geometrical nature (related to non-metricity), the theory is known as \textit{Geometrical Scalar-Tensor}. On the framework of Weyl transformations, a non-minimally coupled scalar-tensor theory on the Jordan frame corresponds to a minimally coupled Einstein-Hilbert action on the Einstein frame. The scalar potential is selected by the Noether symmetry approach in order to obtain conserved quantities for…
A canonical quantization of two-dimensional gravity minimally coupled to real scalar and spinor Majorana fields is presented. The physical state space of the theory is completely described and calculations are also made of the average value of the metric tensor relative to states close to the ground state
In this paper, we investigate the energy conditions (including null, weak, strong, dominant) in generalized teleparallel gravities including pure $F(T)$, teleparallel gravity with non-minimally coupled scalar field and $F(T)$ with non-minimally coupled scalar field models. In particular, we apply them to Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) cosmology and obtain some corresponding results. Using two specific phenomenological forms of $F(T)$, we show that some of the energy conditions are violated.
In this work we study slow-roll inflation for a vector-tensor model with massive vector fields non-minimally coupled to gravity. The model under consideration has arbitrary parameters for each geometrical coupling. Taking into account a spatially flat FRW type universe and a general vector fields (with temporal and spatial components), we get the general expressions for equation of motion and the total energy momentum tensor. In this scenario, the isotropy of expansion is guaranteed considering a triplet of orthogonal vector fields, but the effective mass of the vector field is of the order of…
In this publication we investigate dynamics of a flat FRW cosmological model with a non-minimally coupled scalar field with the coupling term $ξR ψ^{2}$ in the scalar field action. The quadratic potential function $V(ψ)\propto ψ^{2}$ is assumed. All the evolutional paths are visualized and classified in the phase plane, at which the parameter of non-minimal coupling $ξ$ plays the role of a control parameter. The fragility of global dynamics with respect to changes of the coupling constant is studied in details. We find that the future big rip singularity appearing in the phantom scalar field c…
The cosmological solutions of the non-minimal $ Y (R)F^2 $ theory which are compatible with FRW space-time are investigated. In order to avoid the isotropy violation of a vector field, it can be considered that the presence of a triplet of vector fields satisfying $SO(3)$ symmetry, or the average of randomly oriented electromagnetic fields over the sufficiently large volume. By considering the symmetry arguments, the inflation driven by the non-minimally coupled vector fields is studied. Then the cosmological solutions and corresponding models are obtained with the power law, hyperbolic and hy…
We study a scalar-tensor cosmological model where the Einstein tensor is non-minimally coupled to the free scalar field dynamics. Using FRW metric, we investigate the behavior of scale factor for vacuum, matter and dark energy dominated eras. Especially, we focus on the inflationary behavior at early universe. Moreover, we study the perturbation analysis of this model in order to confront the inflation under consideration with the observational results.
We study flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) models with a perfect fluid matter source and a scalar field non minimally coupled to matter having a double exponential potential. It is shown that the scalar field almost always diverges to infinity. Under conditions on the parameter space, we show that the model is able to give an acceptable cosmological history of our universe, that is, a transient matter era followed by an accelerating future attractor. It is found that only a very weak coupling can lead to viable cosmology. We study in the Einstein frame, the cosmological viability of the as…
Bianchi -I, -III, and FRW type models minimally coupled to a massive spatially homogeneous scalar field (i.e. a particle) are studied in the framework of semiclassical quantum gravity. In a first step we discuss the solutions of the corresponding equation for a Schrödinger particle propagating on a classical background. The back reaction of the Schrödinger particle on the classical metric is calculated by means of the Wigner function and by means of the expectation value of the energy-momentum-tensor of the field as a source. Both methods in general lead to different results.
We study a complex Dirac field in the chiral representation minimally coupled to gravity in 3+1 dimensions in the context of Einstein-Cartan theory. Generically the matter content gravitates in two different ways: On the one hand, the energy-momentum induces spacetime curvature; on the other hand, the presence of spin acts as a source for the spacetime torsion, which does not propagate. In this setup we consider the most general stationary spherically symmetric ansatz and we find an analytic black hole solution that supports a nontrivial spinor configuration. The spinor field affects the geome…
We perform a LQC-quantization of the FRW cosmological model with nonminimally coupled scalar field. Making use of a canonical transformation, we recast the theory in the minimally coupled form (Einstein frame), for which standard LQC techniques can be applied to find the physical Hilbert space and the dynamics. We then focus on the semiclassical sector, obtaining a classical effective Hamiltonian, which can be used to study the dynamics. We show that the classical singularity is replaced by a "mexican hat"-shaped bounce, joining the contracting and expanding branches. The model accommodates Hi…
In this work the exact Friedmann-Robertson-Walker equations for an Elko spinor field coupled to gravity in an Einstein-Cartan framework are presented. The torsion functions coupling the Elko field spin-connection to gravity can be exactly solved and the FRW equations for the system assume a relatively simple form. In the limit of a slowly varying Elko spinor field there is a relevant contribution to the field equations acting exactly as a time varying cosmological model $Λ(t)=Λ_*+3βH^2$, where $Λ_*$ and $β$ are constants. Observational data using distance luminosity from magnitudes of supernov…
We analyze minimally coupled massless scalar field in a Friedmann (FRW) universe in conformal co-ordinates to model the evolution of tensor perturbations and study the structure of the Wightman function therein. Using a duality map from a power law FRW universe to the de Sitter universe for such fields we obtain unequal time commutation relations between quantum field variables. We demonstrate that the commutation relations are invariant under state change and/or vacuum state selection. Using such commutators it is then possible to construct out of time ordered commutators (OTOC) in the FRW un…
This paper explores the dark sector (dark matter and dark energy) from the perspective of Weyl geometric scalar tensor theory (integrable Weyl geometry). In order to account for the galactic dynamics successfully modelled by MOND ("modified Newtonian dynamics"), the non-minimally coupled scalar field considered here has a Lagrangian with two non-conventional contributions in addition to a standard kinetic term: one is inspired by Bekenstein/Milgrom's RAQUAL ("relativistic a-quadratic Lagrangian") from 1983, the other one by a second order term introduced in cosmological studies by Novello et a…
We study second-order perturbations for a general non-canonical scalar field, minimally coupled to gravity, on the unperturbed FRW background, where metric fluctuations are neglected a priori. By employing different approaches to cosmological perturbation theory, we show that, even in this simplified set-up, the second-order perturbations to the stress tensor, the energy density and the pressure display potential instabilities, which are not present at linear order. The conditions on the Lagrangian under which these instabilities take place are provided. We also discuss briefly the significanc…
The present work deals with an interacting dark energy model in the framework of f(T) cosmology. A cosmologically viable form of f(T) is chosen (T is the torsion scalar in teleparallelism) in the background of flat homogeneous and isotropic Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) space-time model of the universe. The matter content of the universe is chosen as dust interacting with minimally coupled scalar field. The evolution equations are reduced to an autonomous system of ordinary differential equations by suitable transformation of variables. The nature of critical points are analyzed by evaluati…
In this paper, we study early-time inflation and late-time acceleration of the universe by non-minimally coupling the Dirac field with torsion in the spatially flat Friedman-Robertson-Walker (FRW) cosmological model background. The results obtained by the Noether symmetry approach with and without a gauge term are compared. Additionally, we compare these results with that of the 3+1 dimensional teleparallel gravity under Noether symmetry approach. And we see that the study explains early-time inflation and late-time acceleration of the universe.
In this article, we explore the homogeneous and isotropic flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) model in Chameleon cosmology. By considering a non-minimal coupling between the scalar field and matter, we present a non-singular bouncing cosmological scenario of the universe. The universe initially exhibits the ekpyrotic phase during the contracting era, undergoes a non-singular bounce, and then in expanding era, it smoothly transits to the decelerating era having matter and radiation dominated phases. Further, this decelerating era is smoothly connected to the late-time dark energy-dominated er…
The approximate stress-energy tensor of the quantized massive scalar, spinor and vector fields in the spatially flat Friedman-Robertson-Walker universe is constructed. It is shown that for the scalar fields with arbitrary curvature coupling, $ξ,$ the stress-energy tensor calculated within the framework of the Schwinger-DeWitt approach is identical to the analogous tensor constructed in the adiabatic vacuum. Similarly, the Schwinger-DeWitt stress-energy tensor for the fields of spin 1/2 and 1 coincides with the analogous result calculated by the Zeldovich-Starobinsky method. The stress-energy t…
Recently, a model of inflation using non-minimally coupled massive vector fields has been proposed. For a particular choice of non-minimal coupling parameter and for a flat FRW model, the model is reduced to the model of chaotic inflation with massive scalar field. We study the effect of non-zero curvature of the universe on the onset of vector inflation. We find that in a curved universe the dynamics of vector inflation can be different from chaotic inflation, and the fraction of the initial conditions leading to inflationary solutions is reduced compared with the chaotic inflation case.
In the de Sitter ambient space formalism the massless fields, which include the linear gravity and massless minimally coupled scalar field, can be written in terms of two separate parts: a massless conformally coupled scalar field and a polarization tensor(-spinor) part. Therefore due to the massless conformally coupled scalar field, there exist an unique Bunch-Davies vacuum state for quantum field theory in the de Sitter space time. In the de Sitter ambient space formalism one can show that the massless fields with spin $s\geq 1$ are gauge invariant. By coupling the massless gauge spin-$2$ an…
