The present work deals with an interacting dark energy model in the framework of f(T) cosmology. A cosmologically viable form of f(T) is chosen (T is the torsion scalar in teleparallelism) in the background of flat homogeneous and isotropic Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) space-time model of the universe. The matter content of the universe is chosen as dust interacting with minimally coupled scalar field. The evolution equations are reduced to an autonomous system of ordinary differential equations by suitable transformation of variables. The nature of critical points are analyzed by evaluating the eigenvalues of the linearized Jacobi matrix and stable attractors are examined from the point of view of cosmology. Finally, both classical and quantum stability of the model have been discussed.
The dynamical behaviors of interacting dark energy in loop quantum cosmology are discussed in this paper. Based on defining three dimensionless variables, we simplify the equations of the fixed points. The fixed points for interacting dark energy can be determined by the Friedmann equation coupled with the dynamical equations {in Einstein cosmology}. But in loop quantum cosmology, besides the Friedmann equation, the conversation equation also give a constrain on the fixed points. The difference of stability properties for the fixed points in loop quantum cosmology and the ones in Einstein cosm…
We investigate the background dynamics when dark energy is coupled to dark matter in the universe described by Einstein cosmology and Loop Quantum Cosmology. We introduce a new general form of dark sector coupling, which presents us a more complicated dynamical phase space. Differences in the phase space in obtaining the accelerated scaling attractor in Einstein cosmology and Loop Quantum Cosmology are disclosed.
We investigate interacting ghost dark energy models in higher dimensional cosmology. We attempt to model dark matter within a barotropic fluid with $P_{b}=ω(t)_{b}ρ$. In this work we consider four different models based on choosing equation of state parameter and interaction term. We confirm that our models agree with observational data.
We study the Generalized Brans-Dicke cosmology in the presence of matter and dark energy. Of particular interest for a constant Brans-Dicke parameter, the de Sitter space has also been investigated.
Specific dark energy models with linear inhomogeneous time-dependent equation of state, within the framework of 4d Friedman-Robertson-Walker (FRW) cosmology, are investigated. It is demonstrated that the choice of such 4d inhomogeneous fluid models may lead to a brane FRW cosmology without any explicit account of higher dimensions at all. Effectively, we thus obtain a brane dark energy universe without introducing the brane concept explicitly. Several examples of brane Rip cosmology arising from 4d inhomogeneous dark fluid models are given.
It is showed that complex scalar fields with a self-interaction potential may propagate along null geodesics on flat Friedmann--Lemaître--Robertson--Walker universes with different time-dependent scale factors. This occurs provided they self interact adequately, for different forms of potentials, and even for the massive case.
We investigate the compact Kaluza-Klein cosmology in which modified holographic dark energy is interacting with dark matter. Using this scenario, we evaluate equation of state parameter as well as equation of evolution of the modified holographic dark energy. Further, it is shown that the generalized second law of thermodynamics holds without any constraint.
In this paper we investigate the evolution of the viscous dark energy (DE) interacting with the dark matter (DM) in the Einstein cosmology model. Using the linearizing theory of the dynamical system, we find, in our model, there exists a stable late time scaling solution which corresponds to the accelerating universe, and we also find the unstable solution under some appropriate parameters. In order to alleviate the coincidence problem, some authors considered the effect of quantum correction due to the conform anomaly and the interacting dark energy model. But if we take into account the bulk…
We here investigate the model of interacting dark energy in the context of five dimensional brane cosmology. The effective equations of state of dark energy are evaluated for various choices of the variable time dependent cosmological constant. We have found that the interacting dark energy obeys the phantom divide/crossing scenario in this generalized model. It is also shown that interacting dark energy in this generalized model also resolves the cosmic coincidence problem.
We investigate the FLRW type cosmology of the Induced Dark Energy model and illustrate that the extra terms emerging from the fifth dimension can play the role of dark energy. The model predicts the expansion with deceleration at early time and acceleration in late time for an open universe.
In this thesis we will focus on Einstein's interpretation of gravity. We will examine how the most famous equations in cosmology are derived from GR and also some results of cosmological significance. We will see how combining that with observational data forces us to consider some form of dark energy or vacuum energy. So we will conclude with some of the more well-known models for dark energy and examine how the dynamics of dark energy can lead us to the so-called cosmological inflation.
We study the dynamics of interacting holographic dark energy model in Brans-Dicke cosmology for the future event horizon and the Hubble horizon cut-offs. We determine the system of first-order differential equations for the future event horizon and Hubble horizon cut-offs, and obtain the corresponding fixed points, attractors, repellers and saddle points. Finally, we investigate the cosmic coincidence problem in this model for the future event horizon and Hubble horizon cut-offs and find that for both cut-offs and for a variety of Brans-Dicke parameters the coincidence problem is almost resolv…
We consider a Brans-Dicke cosmology in five-dimensional space-time. Neglecting the quadratic and the mixed Brans-Dicke terms in the Einstein equation, we derive a modified wave equation of the Brans-Dicke field. We show that, at high energy limit, the 3-brane Brans-Dicke cosmology could be described as the standard one by changing the equation of state. Finally as an illustration of the purpose, we show that the dark energy component of the universe agrees with the observations data.
The purpose of this short review is to describe cosmological models with a linear inhomogeneous time-dependent equation of state (EoS) for the dark energy, when the dark fluid is coupled with dark matter. This may lead to a bounce cosmology. We consider equivalent descriptions in terms of the EoS parameters for an exponential, a power-law, or a double-exponential law for the scale factor $a$. Stability issues are discussed by considering small perturbations around the critical points for the bounce, in the early as well as in the late, universe. The latter part of the paper is concerned with d…
In this paper we shall study the phase space of a coupled dark energy-dark matter fluids system, in which the dark energy has a generalized logarithmic corrected equation of state. Particularly, the equation of state for the dark energy will contain a logarithmic function of the dark energy density $ρ_d$ and will also have quadratic and Chaplygin gas-like terms, expressed in terms of $ρ_d$. We shall use the dynamical system approach in order to study the cosmological dynamics, and by appropriately choosing the dynamical system variables, we shall construct an autonomous dynamical system. The s…
We study the dynamics of a phantom scalar field dark energy interacting with dark matter in loop quantum cosmology (LQC). Two kinds of coupling of the form $α{ρ_m}{\dotϕ}$ (case I) and $3βH (ρ_ϕ+ρ_m)$ (case II) between the phantom energy and dark matter are examined with the potential for the phantom field taken to be exponential. For both kinds of interactions, we find that the future singularity appearing in the standard FRW cosmology can be avoided by loop quantum gravity effects. In case II, if the phantom field is initially rolling down the potential, the loop quantum effect has no influe…
This article examines the foundation of the recently developed relativistic variational formalism[1]. Our work is heavily based on [2, 27] which extends this approach to the multi-fluid theory and examines its utility in astrophysics and cosmology. Unlike the extension to the formalism mentioned above, that looks at the general interaction between different types of matter, we use the formalism to examine the interaction involving, ordinary matter, dark matter (DM) and dark energy (DE). We focus on entrainment phenomena involving the dark-sector constituents.
This paper is aimed at investigating a 5D holographic dark energy in DGP-BRANE cosmology by employing a combination of Sne Ia, BAO and CMB observational data to fit the cosmological parameters in the model. We describe the dynamic of a FRW for the normal branch ($ε$ = +1) of solutions of the induced gravity brane-world model. We take the matter in 5D bulk as holographic dark energy that its holographic nature is reproduced effectively in 4D. The cosmic evolution reveals that the effective 4D holographic dark energy behaves as quintessence while taking into account the 4D cold dark matter resul…
We propose in this paper an interacting holographic dark energy (IHDE) model in chameleon--tachyon cosmology by interaction between the components of the dark sectors. In the formalism, the interaction term emerges from the scalar field coupling matter lagrangian in the model rather than being inserted into the formalism as an external source for the interaction. The correspondence between the tachyon field and the holographic dark energy (HDE) densities allows to reconstruct the tachyon scalar field and its potential in a flat FRW universe. The model can show the accelerated expansion of the …
A Friedmann-Robertson-Walker cosmology with dark energy can be modelled using a quintessence field. That system is equivalent to a relativistic particle moving on a two-dimensional conformal spacetime. When the quintessence behaves as a free massless scalar field in a Universe with cosmological constant, the quantized version of that theory can lead to a Supersymmetric Majorana quantum cosmology. The purpose of this work is to show that such quantum cosmological model correspond to the Maxwell equations for electromagnetic waves propagating in a medium with specific values for its relative per…
In this paper, we examine the interacting dark energy model in $f(T)$ cosmology. We assume dark energy as a perfect fluid and choose a specific cosmologically viable form $f(T)= β\sqrt{T} $. We show that there is one attractor solution to the dynamical equation of $f(T)$ Friedmann equations. Further we investigate the stability in phase space for a general $f(T)$ model with two interacting fluids. By studying the local stability near the critical points, we show that the critical points lie on the sheet $u^*=(c-1)v^*$ in the phase space, spanned by coordinates $(u,v,Ω,T)$. From this critical s…
In this paper, we investigate $f(T)$ cosmology and find an exact solution for $f$ which gives a Little Rip cosmology. Also, considering accelerating cosmology with dark matter, the time-dependent solution is found. For these cases, by using solutions obtained from $f(T)$ gravity we find expressions for $ω$ and $Λ$ defined as time functions via equivalent description in terms of inhomogeneous fluid. This puts the question: which theoretical model describes the observational cosmology?
In the framework of Brans-Dicke cosmology, we have studied the interacting power-law and logarithmic entropy-corrected holographic dark energy models with different cut-offs. The Brans-Dicke parameter is investigated versus the conditions for the acceleration and phantom phases to show that which entropy corrected model can exhibit acceleration with or without the phantom phase at early and present time universes. Moreover, the classical stability or instability of the interacting power-law and logarithmic entropy-corrected holographic dark energy models with different cut-offs is determined a…
This lecture course covers cosmology from the particle physicist perspective. Therefore, the emphasis will be on the evidence for the new physics in cosmological and astrophysical data together with minimal theoretical frameworks needed to understand and appreciate the evidence. I review the case for non-baryonic dark matter and describe popular models which incorporate it. In parallel, the story of dark energy will be developed, which includes accelerated expansion of the Universe today, the Universe origin in the Big Bang, and support for the Inflationary theory in CMBR data.
We present an autonomous phase-plane describing the evolution of field equations containing an agegraphic dark energy in 5D Brans- Dicke cosmology. To observationally verify the numerical results, we simultaneously solve the equations by constraining the model parameters with SNe Ia data. We find conditions for the existence and stability of the critical points (states of the universe) and numerically examine the cosmological parameters. We also investigate the model by means of statefinder diagnostic.
We construct a cosmological model of late acceleration based on the new agegraphic dark energy model in the framework of Brans-Dicke cosmology where the new agegraphic energy density $ρ_{D}= 3n^2 m^2_p /η^{2}$ is replaced with $ρ_{D}= {3n^2ϕ^2}/({4ωη^2}$). We show that the combination of Brans-Dicke field and agegraphic dark energy can accommodate $w_D = -1 $ crossing for the equation of state of \textit{noninteracting} dark energy. When an interaction between dark energy and dark matter is taken into account, the transition of $w_D $ to phantom regime can be more easily accounted for than whe…
This article is devoted to the application of the holographic principle to describe Rip brane cosmological models in the presence of a bulk viscosity. We make use of the generalized infrared-cutoff holographic dark energy, introduced by Nojiri and Odintsov We consider various examples: Rip brane cosmology corresponding to the Little Rip case, asymptotic de Sitter theory, and the so-called Big Freeze theory leading to a singularity. Analytical expressions for infrared cutoffs, as well as the particle and the future horizons at the brane, are obtained. The equations for energy conservation on th…
A unified description of inflation, dark energy, and dark matter is presented within a two-scalar-field cosmological model. Inflation, assumed to be of the warm type, is driven by one of the scalar fields, which, shortly after the end of the inflationary period, decouples from radiation and begins to oscillate rapidly around the minimum of its potential, thus behaving like cold dark matter; the second scalar field emerges, at recent times, as the dominant component of the universe, giving rise to a second era of accelerated expansion. For certain values of the parameters of the model, the cosm…
We investigate cosmological models with two interacting fluids: dark energy and dark matter in flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe. The interaction between dark energy and dark matter is described in terms of the parameters present in the inhomogeneous equation of state when allowance is made for bulk viscosity, for the Little Rip, the Pseudo Rip, and the bounce universes. We obtain analytic representation for characteristic properties in these cosmological models, in particular the bulk viscosity $ζ=ζ(H,t)$ as function of Hubble parameter and time. We discuss the corrections of thermodyn…
Specific dark energy models with a linear inhomogeneous time-dependent equation of state, within the framework of 4d Friedman-Robertson-Walker (FRW) cosmology, are investigated. It is demonstrated that such 4d inhomogeneous fluid models may lead to a turbulence FRW cosmology. Both one-component and two-component models from 4d inhomogeneous dark fluid models are considered. In the one-component model the universe may develop from a viscous era with, for instance, a constant bulk viscosity, into a turbulent era. In the two-component model the fluid can be decomposed into two components, one non…
The present work deals with the dynamical system investigation of interacting dark energy models (quintessence and phantom) in the framework of Loop Quantum Cosmology by taking into account a broad class of self-interacting scalar field potentials. The main reason for studying potentials beyond the exponential type is to obtain additional critical points which can yield more interesting cosmological solutions. The stability of critical points and the asymptotic behavior of the phase space are analyzed using dynamical system tools and numerical techniques. We study two class of interacting dark…
In this paper, we study quintessence cosmology with an effective $Λ$-term in Lyra manifold. We consider three different models by choosing variable $Λ$ depend on time, the Hubble parameter and the energy density of dark matter and dark energy. Dark energy assumed as quintessence which interacts with the dark matter. By using numerical analysis we investigate behavior of cosmological parameters in three different models and compare our results with observational data. Statefinder diagnostic is also performed for all models.
In this paper a possibility of the accelerated expansion of the large scale universe with a varying polytropic fluid of a certain type is presented. About a special role of non-gravitational interactions between dark energy and dark matter, in particular, about a possibility of improvement and solution of problems arising in modern cosmology, has been discussed for a long time. This motivates us to consider new models, where non-gravitational interactions between varying polytropic fluid and cold dark matter are allowed. Mainly non-linear interactions of a specific type is considered, found in…
In this paper we study the tachyon cosmology in non-interacting and interacting cases in non-flat FRW universe. Then we reconstruct the potential and the dynamics of the tachyon field which describe tachyon cosmology.
Considering the holographic dark energy (HDE) with two different Infrared (IR) cutoffs, we study the evolution of a cyclic universe which avoids the Big-Rip singularity. Our results show that, even in the absence of a mutual interaction between the cosmos sectors, the HDE model with the Hubble radius as IR cutoff can mimics a cosmological constant in the framework of a cyclic cosmology. In addition, we find that both the interacting and non-interacting universes may enter into a cycle of sequential contraction and expansion, if the Granda-Oliveros (GO) cutoff is chosen as the IR cutoff in the …
Singularities in the dark energy universe are discussed, assuming that there is a bulk viscosity in the cosmic fluid. In particular, it is shown how the physically natural assumption of letting the bulk viscosity be proportional to the scalar expansion in a spatially flat FRW universe can drive the fluid into the phantom region (w < -1), even if lies in the quintessence region (w > -1) in the non-viscous case.
In this paper, we investigate the nature of self-interacting potential that can support the accelerated expansion of the universe as indicated by observational data. For this purpose, we consider the Bianchi type I (BI) universe model in the Brans-Dicke (BD) field scenario and use a power law for both the scalar field and the scale factor. It is found that the accelerated expansion of the universe can be discussed for a positive power law potential with negative values of the BD parameter. We also explore the evolution of energy density perturbations. This analysis indicates that the model all…
Universe evolution, as described by Friedmann's equations, is determined by source terms fixed by the choice of pressure $\times$ energy-density equations of state $p(ρ)$. The usual approach in Cosmology considers equations of state accounting only for kinematic terms, ignoring the contribution from the interactions between the particles constituting the source fluid. In this work the importance of these neglected terms is emphasized. A systematic method, based on the Statistical Mechanics of real fluids, is proposed to include them. A toy-model is presented which shows how such interaction te…
A proposal to study the effect of interaction in an agegraphic dark energy model in DGP brane-world cosmology is presented in this manuscript. After explaining the details, we proceed to apply the dynamical system approach to the model to analyze its stability. We first, constrain model parameters with a variety of independent observational data such as cosmic microwave background anisotropies, baryon acoustic oscillation peaks and observational Hubble data. Then, we obtain the critical points related to different cosmological epochs. In particular, we conclude that in the presence of interact…
Dark energy is one of the greatest scientific mysteries of today. The idea that dark energy originates from quantum vacuum fluctuations has circulated since the late '60s, but theoretical estimations of vacuum energy have disagreed with the measured value by many orders of magnitude, until recently. Lifshitz theory applied to cosmology has produced the correct order of magnitude for dark energy. Furthermore, the theory is based on well-established and experimentally well-tested grounds in atomic, molecular and optical physics. In this paper, we confront Lifshitz cosmology with astronomical dat…
We investigate the interacting holographic dark energy (HDE) with Granda-Oliveros (GO) IR-cutoff in the framework of Brans-Dicke (BD) cosmology. We obtain the equation of state (EoS) parameter of HDE, $w_D$, the effective EoS parameter $w_{\mathrm{eff}}$, the deceleration parameter $q $ and the squared of sound speed $v_s^2$ in a flat FRW universe. We show that at late time the cosmic coincidence problem can be alleviated. Also we show that for non-interacting case, HDE can give a unified dark matter-dark energy profile in BD cosmology, except that it cannot solve the coincidence problem in th…
A Friedman-Robertson-Walker cosmology arising from a five-dimensional Chern-Simons (CS) theory for the group S0(1,5) coupled to matter is considered as an alternative model for dark energy and matter. The four-dimensional reduction describes an accelerating universe having a time dependent Newton's coupling G and a positive cosmological constant. Five dimensional matter gives rise to what we interprete as four dimensional ordinary plus dark matter and a dark energy is provided by a cosmological constant term plus a fluid arising from the CS coupling. The case of five dust is studied in detail,…
Considering an arbitrary, varying equation of the state parameter, the thermodynamic properties of the dark energy fluid in a semiclassical loop quantum cosmology scenario, which we consider the inverse volume modification, is studied. The equation of the state parameters are corrected as a semiclassical one during considering the effective behavior. Assuming that the apparent horizon has Hawking temperature, the modified entropy-area relation is obtained, we find that this relation is different from the one which is obtained by considering the holonomy correction. Considering the dark energy …
In this paper, we have studied the interacting and non-interacting dark energy and dark matter in the spatially homogenous and anisotropic Bianchi type-I model in the Brans- Dicke theory of gravitation. The field equations have been solved by using (i) power-law relation and (ii) by assuming scale factor in terms of redshift. Here we have considered two cases of an interacting and non-interacting dark energy scenario and obtained general results. It has been found that for suitable choice of interaction between dark energy and dark matter we can avoid the coincidence problem which appears in t…
We provide a detailed description for power-law scaling FRW cosmological models in Brans-Dicke theory dominated by two interacting fluid components during the expansion of the universe.
We investigate the behavior of dark energy interacting with dark matter and unparticle in the framework of loop quantum cosmology. In four toy models, we study the interaction between the cosmic components by choosing different coupling functions representing the interaction. We found that there are only two attractor solutions namely dark energy dominated and dark matter dominated Universe. The other two models are unstable, as they predict either a dark energy filled Universe or one completely devoid of it.
In this paper we construct the 5D uplift of 4D gravitational waves in de Sitter cosmology for the brane world scenario based on a nucleated bubble in AdS5. This makes it possible to generalize the connection between the dark bubbles and Vilenkin's quantum cosmology to include gravitational perturbations. We also use the uplift to explain the interpretation of the apparently negative energy contributions in the 4D Einstein equations, which distinguish the dark bubble scenario from Randall-Sundrum.
We investigate Holographic Dark Energy Correspondence of Interacting Generalized Chaplygin Gas model in the framework of compact Kaluza-Klein cosmology. The evolution of the modified holographic dark energy and the equation of state parameter is obtained here.Using the present observational value of density parameter a stable configuration is formed which accommodates Dark Energy. we note a connection between Dark Energy and Phantom field and have shown that Dark Energy might have evolved from a Phantom state in the past.
The Noether Symmetry Approach is applied to interacting quintessence cosmology with the aim to search for exact solutions and select scalar-field self-interaction potentials. It turns out that the solutions found are compatible with the accelerated expansion of the Universe and with observational dataset, as the SNeIa Pantheon data.
The standard model of cosmology is based on the general theory of relativity and demands more than 95\% of the universe to consist of dark matter and dark energy that has no direct observational evidence till date. The foundation of the concept these dark components are based on a fixed relation between the strength of the gravitational field and the matter density. Alternate models are put forward in past to explain the observations without dark components in the universe. Though they have their own merits and draw backs. In this paper we propose a new cosmological model based on Mach's princ…
We investigate interacting dark energy models in the framework of fractal cosmology. We discuss a fractal FRW universe filled with the dark energy and dark matter which interact with each other. We obtain the equation for the relative density of dark matter and dark energy and the deceleration parameter. This model demonstrates new types of evolution, which are not common to cosmological models with this type of interaction.
Phantom cosmology allows to account for dynamics and matter content of the universe tracing back the evolution to the inflationary epoch, considering the transition to the non-phantom standard cosmology (radiation/matter dominated eras) and recovering the today observed dark energy epoch. We develop the unified phantom cosmology where the same scalar plays the role of early time (phantom) inflaton and late-time Dark Energy. The recent transition from decelerating to accelerating phase is described too by the same scalar field. The (dark) matter may be embedded in this scheme, giving the natura…
In this paper we construct a stringy embedding of the dark bubble model of an expanding 4D cosmology with the help of branes rotating in extra dimensions. The universe rides a bubble which has nucleated in an unstable higher dimensional background. Our construction is therefore a string theoretical realization of Vilenkin's quantum cosmology. While the cosmological constant vanishes at lowest order, loop corrections predicted by the Weak Gravity Conjecture can induce a phenomenologically viable value. The model predicts the existence of large extra dimensions compatible with observational cons…
New exact solutions of brane-world cosmology are given. These solutions include an arbitrary constant C, which is determined by the geometry outside the brane and which affects the cosmological evolution in the brane-world. If C is zero, then the standard cosmology governs the brane-world as a low-energy effective cosmological theory. However, if C is not zero, then even in low-energy the brane-world cosmology gives predictions different from the standard one. The difference can be understood as ``dark radiation'', which is not real radiation but alters cosmological evolutions.
We explore the cosmological consequences of Modified Gravity (MOG), and find that it provides, using a minimal number of parameters, good fits to data, including CMB temperature anisotropy, galaxy power spectrum, and supernova luminosity-distance observations without exotic dark matter. MOG predicts a bouncing cosmology with a vacuum energy term that yields accelerating expansion and an age of ~13 billion years.
In this paper, we study the holographic dark energy density and interacting extended Chaplygin gas energy density in the Einstein gravity. We reconstruct the scalar field and the scalar potential describing the extended Chaplygin gas. In the special case, we obtain energy density and investigate some cosmological parameters. Assuming interaction between components we find energy density for some different parametrization of total EoS. We analyze tensor to scalar ratio and use recent observational data of BICEP2 to fix the model parameters.
Understanding the space of possible theoretical explanations for the observed cosmic acceleration is a central challenge of modern cosmology. This brief document sketches selected aspects of approaches to this problem, focusing on the possibility that a modification to General Relativity is responsible for acceleration, as presented as a plenary talk at the ICHEP 2012 conference.
Rényi holographic dark energy (RHDE) correspondence is discussed in higher dimensional cosmology, namely Kaluza-Klein (KK) cosmology. Both interacting and non-interacting cosmological scenario are considered here. It is found that the non-interacting model naturally leads to the late accelerated universe, unlike the standard Holographic Dark Energy models in 4$D$, which requires interaction to accommodate the late-time acceleration of the universe. The interacting model produces an accelerating universe at late time albeit failing to attain the estimated present value of the deceleration param…
