It is a result of Gabriel that hereditary torsion pairs in categories of modules are in bijection with certain filters of ideals of the base ring, called Gabriel filters or Gabriel topologies. A result of Jans shows that this bijection restricts to a correspondence between (Gabriel filters that are uniquely determined by) idempotent ideals and TTF triples. Over the years, these classical results have been extended in several different directions. In this paper we present a detailed and self-contained exposition of an extension of the above bijective correspondences to additive functor categories over small preadditive categories. In this context, we also show how to deduce parametrizations of hereditary torsion theories of finite type, Abelian recollements by functor categories, and centrally splitting TTFs.
In abelian categories like the category of R-modules and even in the category S-Act 0 of S-acts with a unique zero, idempotent radicals and torsion theories are equivalent, and the τ-torsion and τ- torsion free classes of a torsion theory τ are closed under coproducts. These are not necessarily true in the category S-Act of S-acts. In this paper, we prove that torsion theories are equivalent with the Kurosh- Amitsur radicals. We, also, show that the class of Kurosh-Amitsur radicals is a reflective subcategory of Hoehnke radicals, as a poset.
In this article we explore a non-abelian torsion theory in the category of preordered groups: the objects of its torsion-free subcategory are the partially ordered groups, whereas the objects of the torsion subcategory are groups (with the total order). The reflector from the category of preordered groups to this torsion-free subcategory has stable units, and we prove that it induces a monotone-light factorization system. We describe the coverings relative to the Galois structure naturally associated with this reflector, and explain how these coverings can be classified as internal actions of …
In an arbitrary Grothendieck category, we find necessary and sufficient conditions for the class of $\text{FP}_n$-injective objects to be a torsion class. By doing so, we propose a notion of $n$-hereditary categories. We also define and study the class of $\text{FP}_n$-flat objects in Grothendieck categories with a generating set of small projective objects, and provide several equivalent conditions for this class to be torsion-free. In the end, we present several applications and examples of $n$-hereditary categories in the contexts modules over a ring, chain complexes of modules and categori…
Let $\mathscr{C}$ be an extriangulated category and $\mathcal{X}$ be a semibrick in $\mathscr{C}$. Let $\mathcal{T}$ be the filtration subcategory generated by $\mathcal{X}$. We introduce the weak Jordan-Hölder property (WJHP) and Jordan-Hölder property (JHP) in $\mathscr{C}$ and show that $\mathcal{T}$ satisfies (WJHP). Furthermore, $\mathcal{T}$ satisfies (JHP) if and only if $\mathcal{X}$ is proper. Using reflection functors and $c$-sortable elements, we give a combinatorial criterion for the torsion-free class satisfying (JHP) in the representation category of a quiver of type $A$.
In this paper we revisit the problem of determining when the heart of a t-structure is a Grothendieck category, with special attention to the case of the Happel-Reiten-Smalø (HSR) t-structure in the derived category of a Grothendieck category associated to a torsion pair in the latter. We revisit the HRS tilting process deriving from it a lot of information on the HRS t-structures which have a projective generator or an injective cogenerator, and obtain several bijections between classes of pairs $(\mathcal{A},\mathbf{t})$ consisting of an abelian category and a torsion pair in it. We use thes…
Starting with a Grothendieck category $\mathcal{G}$ and a torsion pair $\mathbf{t}=(\mathcal{T},\mathcal{F})$ in $\mathcal G$, we study the local finite presentability and local coherence of the heart $\mathcal{H}_{\mathbf{t}}$ of the associated Happel-Reiten-Smalø $t$-structure in the derived category $\mathrm{Der} (\mathcal{G})$. We start by showing that, in this general setting, the torsion pair $\mathbf t$ is of finite type, if and only if it is quasi-cotilting, if and only if it is cosilting. We then proceed to study those $\mathbf t$ for which $\mathcal{H}_{\mathbf{t}}$ is locally finite…
Let $\mathcal{A}$ be an abelian category and $\mathcal{B}$ be the Happel-Reiten-Smalø tilt of $\mathcal{A}$ with respect to a torsion pair. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a derived equivalence between $\mathcal{B}$ and $\mathcal{A}$, which is compatible with the inclusion of $\mathcal{B}$ into the derived category of $\mathcal{A}$. In particular, any splitting torsion pair induces a derived equivalence. We prove that for the realization functor of any bounded $t$-structure, its denseness implies its fully-faithfulness.
In this paper we study adjunction relations between some natural functors on the representation category of the category of finite linearly ordered sets and order-preserving injections. We also prove that the Nakayama functor induces an equivalence from the Serre quotient of the category of finitely generated modules by the category of finitely generated torsion modules to the category of finite dimensional modules.
In this paper we consider the locally self-injective property of the product FI$^m$ of the category FI of finite sets and injections. Explicitly, we prove that the external tensor product commutes with the coinduction functor, and hence preserves injective modules. As corollaries, every projective FI$^m$-modules over a field of characteristic 0 is injective, and the Serre quotient of the category of finitely generated FI$^m$-modules by the category of finitely generated torsion FI$^m$-modules is equivalent to the category of finite dimensional FI$^m$-modules.

We study the notions of $n$-hereditary rings and its connection to the classes of finitely $n$-presented modules, FP$_n$-injective modules, FP$_n$-flat modules and $n$-coherent rings. We give characterizations of $n$-hereditary rings in terms of quotients of injective modules and submodules of flat modules, and a characterization of $n$-coherent using an injective cogenerator of the category of modules. We show two torsion pairs with respect to the FP$_n$-injective modules and the FP$_n$-flat modules over $n$-hereditary rings. We also provide an example of a Bézout ring which is 2-hereditary, …
