In this paper we revisit the problem of determining when the heart of a t-structure is a Grothendieck category, with special attention to the case of the Happel-Reiten-Smalø (HSR) t-structure in the derived category of a Grothendieck category associated to a torsion pair in the latter. We revisit the HRS tilting process deriving from it a lot of information on the HRS t-structures which have a projective generator or an injective cogenerator, and obtain several bijections between classes of pairs $(\mathcal{A},\mathbf{t})$ consisting of an abelian category and a torsion pair in it. We use these bijections to re-prove, by different methods, a recent result of Tilting Theory and the fact that if $\mathbf{t}=(\mathcal{T},\mathcal{F})$ is a torsion pair in a Grothendieck category $\mathcal{G}$, then the heart of the associated HRS t-structure is itself a Grothendieck category if, and only if, $\mathbf{t}$ is of finite type. We survey this last problem and recent results after its solution.
Let $\mathcal{A}$ be an abelian category and $\mathcal{B}$ be the Happel-Reiten-Smalø tilt of $\mathcal{A}$ with respect to a torsion pair. We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a derived equivalence between $\mathcal{B}$ and $\mathcal{A}$, which is compatible with the inclusion of $\mathcal{B}$ into the derived category of $\mathcal{A}$. In particular, any splitting torsion pair induces a derived equivalence. We prove that for the realization functor of any bounded $t$-structure, its denseness implies its fully-faithfulness.
We give a short proof to the following tilting theorem by Happel, Reiten and Smalø via an explicit construction: given two abelian categories $\mathcal{A}$ and $\mathcal{B}$ such that $\mathcal{B}$ is tilted from $\mathcal{A}$, then $\mathcal{A}$ and $\mathcal{B}$ are derived equivalent.
For an abelian category $A$ equipped with a torsion pair, we give an explicit description for the abelian category $B$ introduced by Happel-Reiten-Smalo, and also for the category of chain complexes $Ch(B)$ and the derived category $D(B)$ of $B$. We also describe the DG structure on $Ch(B)$. As a consequence, we find new proofs of certain results of Happel-Reiten-Smalo. The main ingredient is the category of {\em decorated} complexes.
Let C be a connected noetherian hereditary abelian Ext-finite category with Serre functor over an algebraically closed field k, with finite dimensional homomorphism and extension spaces. Using the classification of such categories from math.RT/9911242, we prove that if C has some object of infinite length, then the Grothendieck group of C is finitely generated if and only if C has a tilting object.
Let $Λ$ be an artin algebra and $\mathcal{M}$ be an n-cluster tilting subcategory of mod$Λ$. We show that $\mathcal{M}$ has an additive generator if and only if the n-almost split sequences form a basis for the relations for the Grothendieck group of $\mathcal{M}$ if and only if every effaceable functor $\mathcal{M}\rightarrow Ab$ has finite length. As a consequence we show that if mod$Λ$ has n-cluster tilting subcategory of finite type then the n-almost split sequences form a basis for the relations for the Grothendieck group of $Λ$.
Let $k$ be a field and $\mathcal{C}$ a $k$-linear, Hom-finite triangulated category with split idempotents. In this paper, we show that under suitable circumstances, the Grothendieck group of $\mathcal{C}$, denoted $K_0(\mathcal{C})$, can be expressed as a quotient of the split Grothendieck group of a higher-cluster tilting subcategory of $\mathcal{C}$. Assume that $n\geq 2$ is an even integer, $\mathcal{C}$ is $n$-Calabi Yau and has an $n$-cluster tilting subcategory $\mathcal{T}$. Then, for every indecomposable $M$ in $\mathcal{T}$, there is an Auslander-Reiten $(n+2)$-angle in $\mathcal{T}$…
We give a classification theorem for a relevant class of $t$-structures in triangulated categories, which includes in the case of the derived category of a Grothendieck category, the $t$-structures whose hearts have at most $n$ fixed consecutive non-zero cohomologies. Moreover, by this classification theorem, we deduce the construction of the $t$-tree, a new technique which generalises the filtration induced by a torsion pair. At last we apply our results in the tilting context generalizing the $1$-tilting equivalence proved by Happel, Reiten and Smalø [HRS96]. The last section provides applic…
We study the t-structure induced by an n-tilting module T in the derived category D(R) of a ring R. Our main objective is to determine when the heart of the t-structure is a Grothendieck category. We obtain characterizations in terms of properties of the module category over the endomorphism ring of T and as a main result we prove that the heart is a Grothendieck category if and only if T is a pure projective $R$-module.
The aim of the paper is to discuss the relation subgroups of the Grothendieck groups of extriangulated categories and certain other subgroups. It is shown that a locally finite extriangulated category $\C$ has Auslander-Reiten $\E-$triangles and the relations of the Grothendieck group $K_{0}(\C)$ are generated by the Auslander-Rieten $\E-$triangles. A partial converse result is given when restricting to the triangulated categories with a cluster tilting subcategory: in the triangulated category $\C$ with a cluster tilting subcategory, the relations of the Grothendieck group $K_0(\C)$ are gener…
Given a triangulated 2-Calabi-Yau category C and a cluster-tilting subcategory T, the index of an object X of C is a certain element of the Grothendieck group of the additive category T. In this note, we show that a rigid object of C is determined by its index, that the indices of the indecomposables of a cluster-tilting subcategory T' form a basis of the Grothendieck group of T and that, if T and T' are related by a mutation, then the indices with respect to T and T' are related by a certain piecewise linear transformation introduced by Fomin and Zelevinsky in their study of cluster algebras …
Let $T$ be a $1$-tilting module whose tilting torsion pair $({\mathcal T}, {\mathcal F})$ has the property that the heart ${\mathcal H}_t$ of the induced $t$-structure (in the derived category ${\mathcal D}({\rm Mod} \mbox{-} R)$ is Grothendieck. It is proved that such tilting torsion pairs are characterized in several ways: (1) the $1$-tilting module $T$ is pure projective; (2) ${\mathcal T}$ is a definable subcategory of ${\rm Mod} \mbox{-} R$ with enough pure projectives, and (3) both classes ${\mathcal T}$ and ${\mathcal F}$ are finitely axiomatizable. This study addresses the question of …
Let $\mathbb{X}$ be a weighted noncommutative regular projective curve over a field $k$. The category $\operatorname{Qcoh}\mathbb{X}$ of quasicoherent sheaves is a hereditary, locally noetherian Grothendieck category. We classify all tilting sheaves which have a non-coherent torsion subsheaf. In case of nonnegative orbifold Euler characteristic we classify all large (that is, non-coherent) tilting sheaves and the corresponding resolving classes. In particular we show that in the elliptic and in the tubular cases every large tilting sheaf has a well-defined slope.
To a big n-tilting object in a complete, cocomplete abelian category A with an injective cogenerator we assign a big n-cotilting object in a complete, cocomplete abelian category B with a projective generator, and vice versa. Then we construct an equivalence between the (conventional or absolute) derived categories of A and B. Under various assumptions on A, which cover a wide range of examples (for instance, if A is a module category or, more generally, a locally finitely presentable Grothendieck abelian category), we show that B is the abelian category of contramodules over a topological rin…
The paper is concerned with cohomology of the small quantum group at a root of unity, and of its upper triangular subalgebra, with coefficients in a tilting module. We relate it to a certain t-structure on the derived category of equivariant coherent sheaves on the Springer resolution, and to equivariant coherent IC sheaves on the nil-cone. The support of these cohomology is described in terms of cells in affine Weyl groups, and the basis in the Grothendieck group they provide is related to the Kazhdan-Lusztig basis, as predicted by J. Humphreys and V. Ostrik. The proof is based on earlier res…
As a general framework for the studies of $t$-structures on triangulated categories and torsion pairs in abelian categories, we introduce the notions of extriangulated categories with negative first extensions and $s$-torsion pairs. We define a heart of an interval in the poset of $s$-torsion pairs, which naturally becomes an extriangulated category with a negative first extension. This notion generalizes hearts of $t$-structures on triangulated categories and hearts of twin torsion pairs in abelian categories. In this paper, we show that an interval in the poset of $s$-torsion pairs is biject…
Let $\mathscr{C}$ be a $2$-Calabi-Yau triangulated category with two cluster tilting subcategories $\mathscr{T}$ and $\mathscr{U}$. Results by Demonet-Iyama-Jasso and Jørgensen-Yakimov known as tropical duality says that the index with respect to $\mathscr{T}$ provides an isomorphism between the split Grothendieck groups of $\mathscr{U}$ and $\mathscr{T}$. We also have the notion of $c$-vectors, which using tropical duality have been proven to have sign coherence, and to be recoverable as dimension vectors of modules in a module category. The notion of triangulated categories extends to the no…
