We study the question of when two weighted variable exponent Bergman spaces or Hardy spaces are equivalent. As an application, we show that variable exponent Hardy spaces have a close relation to classical Hardy spaces when the exponent is log-Hölder continuous and has bounded harmonic conjugate (when extended from its boundary values to be harmonic in the disc). We use this to characterize Carleson measures for these variable exponent Hardy spaces. We also prove under certain conditions an analogue of Littlewood subordination and a result on the boundedness of composition operators.
We prove necessary and sufficient integral conditions involving extremal distance for a conformal mapping of the unit disk to belong to the Hardy or weighted Bergman spaces. We also give characterizations for the Hardy number and the Bergman number of a simply connected domain in terms of extremal distance.
In thius paper we introduce the Hardy and Bergman spaces on hyperconvex domains relative to a acontinuous exhaustion function. We prove their basic properties and study their composition operators induced by holomorphic mappings between domains.
In this paper we give sharp norm estimates for the Bergman operator acting from weighted mixed-norm spaces to weighted Hardy spaces in the ball, endowed with natural norms.
In this paper, we investigate some properties of planar harmonic mappings. First, we generalize the main results in \cite{CPW3} and \cite{HT}, and then discuss the relationship between area integral means and harmonic Hardy spaces or harmonic weighted Bergman spaces. At the end, coefficient estimates of mappings in weighted Bergman spaces are obtained.
In this paper, we continue our investigation of function spaces on certain classes of complex-valued functions. In particular, we give characterizations on Hardy-type, Bergman-type and Dirichlet-type spaces. Furthermore, we present applications of our results to certain nonlinear PDEs.
We prove that a conformal mapping defined on the unit disk belongs to a weighted Bergman space if and only if certain integrals involving the harmonic measure converge. With the aid of this theorem, we give a geometric characterization of conformal mappings in Hardy or weighted Bergman spaces by studying Euclidean areas. Applying these results, we prove several consequences for such mappings that extend known results for Hardy spaces to weighted Bergman spaces. Moreover, we introduce a number which is the analogue of the Hardy number for weighted Bergman spaces. We derive various expressions f…
We study a characterization of slice Carleson measures and of Carleson measures for the both the Hardy spaces $H^p(\mathbb B)$ and the Bergman spaces $\mathcal A^p(\mathbb B)$ of the quaternionic unit ball $\mathbb B$. In the case of Bergman spaces, the characterization is done in terms of the axially symmetric completion of a pseudohyperbolic disc in a complex plane. We also show that a characterization in terms of pseudohyperbolic balls is not possible.
It is known that, generically, Taylor series of functions holomorphic in the unit disc turn out to be universal series outside of the unit disc and in particular on the unit circle. Due to classical and recent results on the boundary behaviour of Taylor series, for functions in Hardy spaces and Bergman spaces the situation is essentially different. In this paper it is shown that in many respects these results are sharp in the sense that universality generically appears on maximal exceptional sets. As a main tool it is proved that the Taylor (backward) shift on certain Bergman spaces is mixing.
We discuss the notion of an inner function for spaces of analytic functions in multiply connected domains in $\mathbb{C}$, giving a historical overview and comparing several possible definitions. We explore connections between inner functions, zero-divisors for Hardy spaces and Bergman spaces, and weighted reproducing kernels. After recording some obstructions and negative results, we suggest avenues for further research and point out several open problems.
Let $D$ be a domain in the complex plane $\mathbb{C}$. The Hardy number of $D$, which first introduced by Hansen, is the maximal number $h(D)$ in $[0,+\infty]$ such that $f$ belongs to the classical Hardy space $H^p (\mathbb{D})$ whenever $0<p<h(D)$ and $f$ is holomorphic on the unit disk $\mathbb{D}$ with values in $D$. As an analogue notion to the Hardy number of a domain $D$ in $\mathbb{C}$, we introduce the Bergman number of $D$ and we denote it by $b(D)$. Our main result is that, if $D$ is regular, then $h(D)=b(D)$. This generalizes earlier work by the author and Karamanlis for simply con…
In this paper we characterize off-diagonal Carleson embeddings for both Hardy-Orlicz spaces and Bergman-Orlicz spaces of the upper-half plane. We use these results to obtain embedding relations and pointwise multipliers between these spaces.
In this paper, the boundedness and compactness of the difference of composition-differentiation operators $D_φ-D_ψ$ acting from Hardy spaces $H^p$ to weighted Bergman spaces $A^q_α$ are completely characterize for all $0<p,q<\infty$.
In this paper, we give some estimates for the essential norm and a new characterization for the boundedness and compactness of weighted composition operators from weighted Bergman spaces and Hardy spaces to the Bloch space.
In the present work, we are interested in compact integration operators $I_g f(z) = \int_0^z f(ζ)g'(ζ)dζ$ acting on the Hardy space $H^2$ and on the weighted Bergman spaces $\mathcal{A}^2_α$. We give upper and lower estimates for the singular values of $I_g$.
We study estimates for Hardy space norms of analytic projections. We first find a sufficient condition for the Bergman projection of a function in the unit disc to belong to the Hardy space $H^p$ for $1 < p < \infty$. We apply the result to prove a converse to an extension of Ryabykh's theorem about Hardy space regularity for Bergman space extremal functions. We also prove that the $H^q$ norm of the Szegö projection of $F^{p/2} \overline{F}^{(p/2)-1}$ cannot be too small if $F$ is analytic, for certain values of $p$ and $q$. We apply this to show that the best analytic approximation in $L^p$ o…
We study bounds for the backward shift operator $f \mapsto (f(z)-f(0))/z$ and the related operator $f \mapsto f - f(0)$ on Hardy and Bergman spaces of analytic and harmonic functions. If $u$ is a real valued harmonic function, we also find a sharp bound on $M_1(r,u-u(0))$ in terms of $\|u\|_{h^1}$, where $M_1$ is the integral mean with $p=1$.
Let $\mathcal{D}$ be the class of radial weights on the unit disk which satisfy both forward and reverse doubling conditions. Let $g$ be an analytic function on the unit disk $\mathbb{D}$. We characterize bounded and compact Volterra type integration operators \[ J_{g}(f)(z)=\int_{0}^{z}f(λ)g'(λ)dλ\] between weighted Bergman spaces $L_{a}^{p}(ω)$ induced by $\mathcal{D}$ weights and Hardy spaces $H^{q}$ for $0<p,q<\infty$.
We completely characterize the boundedness of the Volterra type integration operators $J_b$ acting from the weighted Bergman spaces $A^p_α$ to the Hardy spaces $H^q$ of the unit ball of $\mathbb{C}^n$ for all $0<p,q<\infty$. A partial solution to the case $n=1$ was previously obtained by Z. Wu in \cite{Wu}. We solve the cases left open there and extend all the results to the setting of arbitrary complex dimension $n$. Our tools involve area methods from harmonic analysis, Carleson measures and Kahane-Khinchine type inequalities, factorization tricks for tent spaces of sequences, as well as tec…
In this paper, we investigate the spectra of invertible weighted composition operators with automorphism symbols, on Hardy space $H^2(\mathbb{B}_N)$ and weighted Bergman spaces $A_α^2(\mathbb{B}_N)$, where $\mathbb{B}_N$ is the unit ball of the $N$-dimensional complex space. By taking $N=1$, $\mathbb{B}_N=\mathbb{D}$ the unit disc, we also complete the discussion about the spectrum of a weighted composition operator when it is invertible on $H^2(\mathbb{D})$ or $A_α^2(\mathbb{D})$.
A sequence which is a finite union of interpolating sequences for $H^\infty$ have turned out to be especially important in the study of Bergman spaces. The Blaschke products $B(z)$ with such zero sequences have been shown to be exactly those such that the multiplication $f \mapsto fB$ defines an operator with closed range on the Bergman space. Similarly, they are exactly those Blaschke products that boundedly divide functions in the Bergman space which vanish on their zero sequence. There are several characterizations of these sequences, and here we add two more to those already known. We also…
The definition of classical holomorphic function spaces such as the Hardy space or the Dirichlet space on the Hartogs triangle is not canonical. In this paper we introduce a natural family of holomorphic function spaces on the Hartogs triangle which includes some weighted Bergman spaces, a candidate Hardy space and a candidate Dirichlet space. For the weighted Bergman spaces and the Hardy space we study the $L^p$ mapping properties of Bergman and Szegő projection respectively, whereas for the Dirichlet space we prove it is isometric to the Dirichlet space on the bidisc.
We study the action of some generalized integral operators of Bergman type on pointwise multipliers of holomorphic Triebel-Lizorkin spaces. We construct nontrivial examples of pointwise multipliers in Hardy-Sobolev spaces and give applications of all these results.
We show that the weighted Bergman-Orlicz space $A\_α^ψ$ coincides with some weighted Banach space of holomorphic functions if and only if the Orlicz function $ψ$ satisfies the so-called $Δ^{2}$--condition. In addition we prove that this condition characterizes those $A\_α^ψ$ on which every composition operator is bounded or order bounded into the Orlicz space $L\_α^ψ$. This provides us with estimates of the norm and the essential norm of composition operators on such spaces. We also prove that when $ψ$ satisfies the $Δ^{2}$--condition, a composition operator is compact on $A\_α^ψ$ if and only …
Let $\mathcal{W}$ be the corresponding wandering subspace of an invariant subspace of the Bergman shift. By identifying the Bergman space with $H^2(\mathbb{D}^2)\ominus[z-w]$, a sufficient and necessary conditions of a closed subspace of $H^2(\mathbb{D}^2)\ominus[z-w]$ to be a wandering subspace of an invariant subspace is given also, and a functional charaterization and a coefficient characterization for a function in a wandering subspace are given. As a byproduct, we proved that for two invariant subspaces $\mathcal{M}$, $\mathcal{N}$ with $\mathcal{M}\supsetneq\mathcal{N}$ and $dim(\mathcal…
Expected duality and approximation properties are shown to fail on Bergman spaces of domains in $\mathbb{C}^n$, via examples. When the domain admits an operator satisfying certain mapping properties, positive duality and approximation results are proved. Such operators are constructed on generalized Hartogs triangles. On a general bounded Reinhardt domain, norm convergence of Laurent series of Bergman functions is shown. This extends a classical result on Hardy spaces of the unit disc.
We give various equivalent formulations to the (partially) open problem about $L^p$-boundedness of Bergman projections in tubes over cones. Namely, we show that such boundedness is equivalent to the duality identity between Bergman spaces, $A^{p'}=(A^p)^*$, and also to a Hardy type inequality related to the wave operator. We introduce analytic Besov spaces in tubes over cones, for which such Hardy inequalities play an important role. For $p\geq 2$ we identify as a Besov space the range of the Bergman projection acting on $L^p$, and also the dual of $A^{p'}$. For the Bloch space $\SB^\infty$ we…
In this work we provide an asymptotic expansion for the Szegő kernel associated to a suitably defined Hardy space on the the non-smooth worm domain $D'_β$. After describing the singularities of the kernel, we compare it with an asymptotic expansion of the Bergman kernel. In particular, we show that the Bergman kernel has the same singularities of the first derivative of the Szegő kernel with respect to any of the variables. On the side, we prove the boundedness of the Bergman projection operator on Sobolev spaces of integer order.
There has been a great deal of work done in recent years on weighted Bergman spaces $\apa$ on the unit ball $\bn$ of $\cn$, where $0<p<\infty$ and $α>-1$. We extend this study in a very natural way to the case where $α$ is {\em any} real number and $0<p\le\infty$. This unified treatment covers all classical Bergman spaces, Besov spaces, Lipschitz spaces, the Bloch space, the Hardy space $H^2$, and the so-called Arveson space. Some of our results about integral representations, complex interpolation, coefficient multipliers, and Carleson measures are new even for the ordinary (unweighted) Bergm…
Let $A$ be a sequence of points of $\mathbb{B}^n$ the unit ball in $\mathbb{C}^n.$ In terms of interpolating vectorial function (or Amar's function)[1], we give a necessary condition on $A$ to be interpolating for the weighted Bergman space $B^p_α(\mathbb{B}^n). In the particular case of Hardy space $H^p (\mathbb{B}^2)$, this condition is sufficient no optimal. In the main theorem proof, we resolve Gleason's problem (vectorial form) in $B^p_α(\mathbb{B}^n)$
The subordination principle states roughly : if a property is true for Hardy spaces in some kind of domains in $C^n$ then it is also true for the Bergman spaces of the same kind of domains in $C^{n-1}$. We give applications of this principle to Bergman-Carleson measures, interpolating sequences for Bergman spaces, $A^p$ Corona theorem and characterization of the zeros set of Bergman-Nevanlinna class.
For $f$ analytic on the unit disc let $r_t(f)(z)=f(e^{it}z)$ and $f_r(z)=f(rz)$, rotations and dilations respectively. We show that for $f$ in the Bergman space $A^p$ and $0<α\leq 1$ the following are equivalent. \begin{itemize} \item[(i)] $\n{r_t(f)-f}_{A^p}=\og(|t|^α), \quad t\to 0$, \item[(ii)] $\n{(f')_r}_{A^p} =\og\left (1-r)^{α-1}\right ), \quad r\to 1^{-}$, \item[(iii)] $\n{f_r-f}_{A^p}=\og((1-r)^α),\quad r\to 1^{-}$. \end{itemize} The Hardy space analogues of these conditions are known to be equivalent by results of Hardy and Littlewood and of E. Storozhenko, and in that setting they d…
It is well known that a function is in a Bergman space of the unit ball if and only if it satisfies some Hardy-type inequalities. We extend this fact to Bergman-Orlicz spaces. As applications, we obtain Gustavsson-Peetre interpolation of two Bergman-Orlicz spaces and we completely characterize symbols of bounded or compact Cesàro-type operators on Bergman-Orlicz spaces, extending known results for classical weighted Bergman spaces.
Let $B_α^{p}$ be the space of $f$ holomorphic in the unit ball of $\Bbb C^n$ such that $(1-|z|^2)^αf(z) \in L^p$, where $0<p\leq\infty$, $α\geq -1/p$ (weighted Bergman space). In this paper we study the interpolating sequences for various $B_α^{p}$. The limiting cases $α=-1/p$ and $p=\infty$ are respectively the Hardy spaces $H^p$ and $A^{-α}$, the holomorphic functions with polynomial growth of order $α$, which have generated particular interest. In §1 we first collect some definitions and well-known facts about weighted Bergman spaces and then introduce the natural interpolation problem, alo…
Carleson measures and interpolating and sampling sequences for weighted Bergman spaces on the unit disk are described for weights that are radial and grow faster than the standard weights $(1-|z|)^{-α}$, $0<α<1$. These results make the Hardy space $H^2$ appear naturally as a "degenerate" endpoint case for the class of Bergman spaces under study.
We propose two possible definitions for the notion of a sampling sequence (or set) for Hardy spaces of the disk. The first one is inspired by recent work of Bruna, Nicolau, and Øyma about interpolating sequences in the same spaces, and it yields sampling sets which do not depend on the value of $p$ and correspond to the result proved for bounded functions ($p=\infty$) by Brown, Shields and Zeller. The second notion, while formally closer to the one used for weighted Bergman spaces, is shown to lead to trivial situations only, but raises a possibly interesting problem.
We give criteria for the membership of Hankel operators on the Hardy space on the disc in the Dixmier class, and establish estimates for their Dixmier trace. In contrast to the situation in the Bergman space setting, it turns out that there exist Dixmier-class Hankel operators which are not measurable (i.e. their Dixmier trace depends on the choice of the underlying Banach limit), as well as Dixmier-class Hankel operators which do not belong to the $(1,\infty)$ Schatten-Lorentz ideal. A related question concerning logarithmic interpolation of Besov spaces is also discussed.
We obtain a new general sufficient condition for the continuity of the Bergman projection in tube domains over symmetric cones using multifunctional embeddings. We also obtain some sharp embedding relations between the generalized Hilbert-HArdy spaces and the mixed norm Bergman spaces in this setting.
