In this paper, we mainly study the order of $q$-starlikeness of the well-known basic hypergeometric function. In addition, we obtain the Bieberbach-type problem for a generalized class of starlike functions. We also discuss the Fekete-szegö and the Hankel determinant problems for the same class of functions.
For every $q\in(0,1)$ and $0\le α<1$ we define a class of analytic functions, the so-called $q$-starlike functions of order $α$, on the open unit disk. We study this class of functions and explore some inclusion properties with the well-known class of starlike functions of order $α$. The paper is also devoted to the discussion on the Herglotz representation formula for analytic functions $zf'(z)/f(z)$ when $f(z)$ is $q$-starlike of order $α$. As an application we also discuss the Bieberbach conjecture problem for the $q$-starlike functions of order $α$. Further application includes the study o…
Harmonic functions are natural generalizations of conformal mappings. In recent years, a lot of work have been done by some researchers who focus on harmonic starlike functions. In this paper, we aim to introduce two classes of harmonic univalent functions of the unit disk, called hereditarily $λ$-spirallike functions and hereditarily strongly starlike functions, which are the generalizations of $λ$-spirallike functions and strongly starlike functions, respectively. We note that a relation can be obtained between this two classes. We also investigate analytic characterization of hereditarily s…
Following the trend of coefficient bound problems in Geometric Function Theory, in the present paper, we obtain the sharp bound of $|H_3(1)|$ for the class $\mathcal{S}^*$, of starlike functions and $\mathcal{SL}_q^*$, of $q$- starlike functions related with lemniscate of Bernoulli. Bound on the initial class is also an improvement over the existing known bound and the bound on the latter class generalizes the prior known outcome. Further, we determine the extremal functions to prove the sharpness of our results.
For a function $f$ starlike of order $α$, $0\leqslant α<1$, a non-constant polynomial $Q$ of degree $n$ which is non-vanishing in the unit disc $\mathbb{D}$ and $β>0$, we consider the function $F:\mathbb{D}\to\mathbb{C}$ defined by $F(z)=f(z) (Q(z))^{β/n}$ and find the largest value of $r\in (0,1]$ such that $r^{-1} F(rz)$ lies in various known subclasses of starlike functions such as the class of starlike functions of order $λ$, the classes of starlike functions associated with the exponential function, cardioid, a rational function, nephroid domain and modified sigmoid function. Our radii re…
The purpose of this paper is to give exact value of the radius of starlikeness and distortion theorem, Koebe domain for the class of Janowski's starlike functions of complex order. We note that the class of Janowski's starlike functions of complex order contain many interesting subclasses of univalent functions.
This paper studies analytic functions $f$ defined on the open unit disk of the complex plane for which $f/g$ and $(1+z)g/z$ are both functions with positive real part for some analytic function $g$. We determine radius constants of these functions to belong to classes of strong starlike functions, starlike functions of order $α$, parabolic starlike functions, as well as to the classes of starlike functions associated with lemniscate of Bernoulli, cardioid, lune, reverse lemniscate, sine function, exponential function and a particular rational function. The results obtained are sharp.
We consider normalized analytic function $f$ on the open unit disk for which either $\operatorname{Re} f(z)/g(z)>0$, $|f(z) /g(z) - 1|<1$ or $\operatorname{Re} (1-z^2) f(z) /z>0$ for some analytic function $g$ with $\operatorname{Re} (1-z^2) g(z) /z>0$. We have obtained the radii for these functions to belong to various subclasses of starlike functions. The subclasses considered include the classes of starlike functions of order $α$, lemniscate starlike functions and parabolic starlike functions.
In this study, a normalized form of regular Coulomb wave function is considered. By using differential subordination method due to Miller and Mocanu, we determine some conditions on the parameters such that the normalized regular Coulomb wave function is lemniscate starlike and exponenetial starlike in the open unit disk, respectively.
For normalised analytic functions $f$ defined on the open unit disc $\mathbb{D}$ satisfying the condition $\sup_{z\in \mathbb{D}}(1-|z^2|) |f'(z)|\leq 1$, known as Bloch functions, we determine various starlikeness radii.
In this paper, we prove necessary and sufficient conditions for a sense-preserving harmonic function to be absolutely convex in the open unit disk. We also estimate the coefficient bound and obtain growth, covering and area theorems for absolutely convex harmonic mappings. A natural generalization of the classical Bernardi type operator for harmonic functions is considered and its connection between certain classes of uniformly starlike harmonic functions and uniformly convex harmonic functions is also investigated. At the end, as applications, we present a number of results connected with hyp…
In the present investigation, we study the class of Sigmoid starlike functions, given by $\mathcal{S}^*_{SG}=\{f\in\mathcal{A}: {zf'(z)}/{f(z)}\prec 2/(1+e^{-z})\}$ in context of estimating the sharp radius constants associated with several known subclasses of starlike functions. Further, graphical validation for the sharpness of results is also provided.
In this paper, we consider a subclass of starlike functions associated with a vertical strip domain. Several results concerned with integral representations, convolutions, and coefficient inequalities for functions belonging to this class are obtained. Furthermore, we consider radius problems and inclusion relations involving certain classes of strongly starlike functions, parabolic starlike functions and other types of starlike functions. The results are essential improvements of the corresponding results obtained by Kargar et al., and the derivations are similar to those used earlier by Sun …
This paper deals with some radius results and inclusion relations that are established for functions in a newly defined subclass of starlike functions associated with a petal shaped domain.
In this paper, it is aimed to determine the radii of starlikeness and convexity of the normalized generalized Struve functions for three different kinds of normalization and to find tight lower and upper bounds for the radius of starlikeness and convexity of these normalized Struve functions by making use of Euler-Rayleigh inequalities. The Laguerre-Pólya class of entire functions has a crucial role in constructing our main results.
Let $h$ be a non-vanishing analytic function in the open unit disc with $h(0)=1$. Consider the class consisting of normalized analytic functions $f$ whose ratios $f(z)/g(z)$, $g(z)/z p(z)$, and $p(z)$ are each subordinate to $h$ for some analytic functions $g$ and $p$. The radius of starlikeness is obtained for this class when $h$ is chosen to be either $h(z)=\sqrt{1+z}$ or $h(z)=e^z$. Further $\mathcal{G}$-radius is also obtained for each of these two classes when $\mathcal{G}$ is a particular widely studied subclass of starlike functions. These include $\mathcal{G}$ consisting of the Janowsk…
Let f be analytic in D={z:|z|<1} with f(0)=0 and f'(0)=1. We give sharp bounds for the second Hankel determinant of f, when f is starlike of order alpha in D.
In this manuscript, we deal with three classes of quotient functions having fixed second coefficient described on open unit disk. The radius of strongly starlikeness, lemniscate starlikeness, lune starlikeness, parabolic starlikeness, sine starlikeness, exponential starlikeness and several other radius estimates for such classes are examined. Relevant relations of obtained radius estimates with the existing estimates are also discussed.
In this note we investigate the inclusion relationship between the class of strongly starlike functions of order alpha and type beta and the class of strongly convex functions of order alpha and type beta which are subclass of normalized analytic functions defined on the unit disk. Some applications of our main result are also presented which contains various classical results for the typical subclasses of starlike and convex functions.
The function $G_α(z)=1+ z/(1-αz^2)$, \, $0\leq α<1$, maps the open unit disc $\mathbb{D}$ onto the interior of a domain known as the Booth lemniscate. Associated with this function $G_α$ is the recently introduced class $\mathcal{BS}(α)$ consisting of normalized analytic functions $f$ on $\mathbb{D}$ satisfying the subordination $zf'(z)/f(z) \prec G_α(z)$. Of interest is its connection with known classes $\mathcal{M}$ of functions in the sense $g(z)=(1/r)f(rz)$ belongs to $\mathcal{BS}(α)$ for some $r$ in $(0,1)$ and all $f \in \mathcal{M}$. We find the largest radius $r$ for different classes…
Let $λ$ be a real number with $-π/2<λ<π/2.$ In order to study $λ$-spirallike functions, it is natural to measure the angle according to $λ$-spirals. Thus we are led to the notion of $λ$-argument. This fits well the classical correspondence between $λ$-spirallike functions and starlike functions. Using this idea, we extend deep results of Pommerenke and Sheil-Small on starlike functions to spirallike functions. As an application, we solved a problem given by Hansen in 1971.
In the present investigation the authors obtain upper bounds for the second Hankel determinant of the classes bi-starlike and bi-convex functions of order beta.
The radii of starlikeness and convexity associated with lemniscate of Bernoulli and the Janowski function, $(1+Az)/(1+Bz)$ for $-1\leq B<A\leq 1$, have been determined for normalizations of $q$-Bessel function, Bessel function of first kind of order $ν$, Lommel function of first kind and Legendre polynomial of odd degree.
The concept of majorization is now well-known after the beautiful work of MacGregor, and then followed by Campbell in his sequel of papers. In this paper, we establish the sharp majorization results for the starlike and convex functions with respect to the conjugate points.
We find the radius of starlikeness of order $α$, $0\leq α<1$, of normalized analytic functions $f$ on the unit disk satisfying either $\operatorname{Re}(f(z)/g(z))>0$ or $\left| (f(z)/g(z))-1\right|<1$ for some close-to-star function $g$ with $\operatorname{Re}(g(z)/(z+z^2/2))>0$ as well as of the class of close-to-star functions $f$ satisfying $\operatorname{Re}(f(z)/(z+z^2/2))>0$. Several other radii such as radius of univalence and parabolic starlikeness are shown to be the same as the radius of starlikeness of appropriate order.
In the present paper two certain subclasses of the starlike functions associated with the vertical strip are considered. The main aim of this paper is to investigate some basic properties of these classes such as, subordination relations, sharp inequalities for sums involving logarithmic coefficients and estimate of logarithmic coefficients.
A normalized univalent function is uniformly convex if it maps every circular arc contained in the open unit disk with center in it into a convex curve. This article surveys recent results on the class of uniformly convex functions and on an analogous class of uniformly starlike functions.
For $-1\leq B<A\leq 1$, let $\mathcal{S}^*(A,B)$ denote the class of Janowski starlike functions which satisfy the subordination relation $zf'(z)/f(z)\prec (1+Az)/(1+Bz)$. In the present article, we determine the sharp of pre-Schwarzian norm for the functions in the class $\mathcal{S}^*(A,B)$.
For analytic functions f(z) in the open unit disk U with f(0)=f'(0)-1=0, P. T. Mocanu (Mathematica (Cluj), 11(34) (1969)) have considered Mocanu functions. The object of the present paper is to discuss some sufficient problems for f(z) to be starlike of order α.
In this paper we obtain sharp coefficient bounds for certain $p$-valent starlike functions of order $β$, $0\le β<1$. Initially this problem was handled by Aouf in "M. K. Aouf, On a class of $p$-valent starlike functions of order $α$, Internat. J. Math. $\&$ Math. Sci. 1987;10:733--744". We pointed out that the proof given by Aouf was incorrect and a correct proof is presented in this paper.
Sufficient conditions are obtained on the parameters of Lommel function of the first kind, generalized Struve function of the first kind and the confluent hypergeometric function under which these special functions become exponential convex and exponential starlike in the open unit disk. The method of differential subordination is employed in proving the results. Few examples are also provided to illustrate the results obtained.
The object of this paper is studying some properties of meromorphic functions which satisfy in the condition \[Re(zf(z)) > α|z^2f'(z)+zf(z)| .\] Parallel results for some related classes are also obtained.
Let $f$ and $g$ be analytic functions on the open unit disk of the complex plane with $f/g$ belonging to the class $\mathcal{P} $ of functions with positive real part consisting of functions $p$ with $p(0)=1$ and $\operatorname{Re} p(z)>0$ or to its subclass consisting of functions $p$ with $|p(z)-1|<1$. We obtain the sharp radius constants for the function $f$ to be starlike of order $α$, parabolic starlike, etc. when $g/k\in\mathcal{P}$ where $k$ denotes the Koebe function defined by $k(z)=z/(1-z)^2$.
In this paper we deal with the radii of starlikeness and convexity of the $q-$Mittag--Leffler function for three different kinds of normalization by making use of their Hadamard factorization in such a way that the resulting functions are analytic in the unit disk of the complex plane. By applying Euler-Rayleigh inequalities for the first positive zeros of these functions tight lower and upper bounds for the radii of starlikeness of these functions are obtained. The Laguerre-Pólya class of real entire functions plays a pivotal role in this investigation.
In this paper we investigate an interesting subclass $\mathcal{BS}(α)$ ($0\leq α<1$) of starlike functions in the unit disk $Δ$. The class $\mathcal{BS}(α)$ was introduced by Kargar et al. [R. Kargar, A. Ebadian and J. Sokół, {\it On Booth lemniscate and starlike functions}, Anal. Math. Phys. (2017) DOI: 10.1007/s13324-017-0187-3] which is strongly related to the Booth lemniscate. Some geometric properties of this class of analytic functions including, radius of starlikeness of order $γ$ ($0\leqγ<1$), the image of $f(\{z:|z|<r\})$ when $f\in \mathcal{BS}(α)$, an special example and estimate of…
We consider three classes of functions defined using the class $\mathcal{P}$ of all analytic functions $p(z)=1+cz+\dotsb$ on the open unit disk having positive real part and study several radius problems for these classes. The first class consists of all normalized analytic functions $f$ with $f/g\in\mathcal{P}$ and $g/(zp)\in\mathcal{P}$ for some normalized analytic function $g$ and $p\in \mathcal{P}$. The second class is defined by replacing the condition $f/g\in\mathcal{P}$ by $|(f/g)-1|<1$ while the other class consists of normalized analytic functions $f$ with $f/(zp)\in\mathcal{P}$ for s…
In this study, we deal with the sharp bounds of certain Toeplitz determinants whose entries are the logarithmic coefficients of analytic univalent functions $f$ such that the quantity $z f'(z)/f(z)$ takes values in a specific domain lying in the right half plane. The established results provide the bounds for the classes of starlike and convex functions, as well as various of their subclasses.
There are many results for sufficient conditions of functions f(z) which are analytic in the open unit disc U to be starlike and convex in U. The object of the present paper is to derive some interesting sufficient conditions for f(z) to be starlike of order α and convex of order α in U concerned with Jack's lemma. Some examples for our results are also considered with the help of Mathematica 5.2.
For $0\leq α<1$, the sharp radii of starlikeness and convexity of order $α$ for functions of the form $f(z)=z+a_2z^2+a_3z^3+...$ whose Taylor coefficients $a_n$ satisfy the conditions $|a_2|=2b$, $0\leq b\leq 1$, and $|a_n|\leq n $, $M$ or $M/n$ ($M>0$) for $n\geq 3$ are obtained. Also a class of functions related to Carathéodory functions is considered.
We consider the class $\mathcal{S}^*(q_c)$ of normalized starlike functions $f$ analytic in the open unit disk $|z|<1$ that satisfying the inequality \begin{equation*} \left|\left(\frac{zf'(z)}{f(z)}\right)^2-1\right|<c \quad (0<c\leq1). \end{equation*} In this article, we present some subordination relations and these relations are then used to obtain some corollaries for some subclass of analytic functions.
In this paper, we shall find the order of starlikeness and convexity for integral operators \begin{equation*} \mathbb{F}_{α_{j},β_{j},λ_{j},ζ}(z)=\left\{ ζ\int\limits_{0}^{z}t^{ζ-1}\prod_{j=1}^{n}\left( \frac{\mathbb{E} _{α_{j},β_{j}}(t)}{t}\right) ^{1/λ_{j}}dt\right\} ^{1/ζ}, \end{equation*} where the functions $\mathbb{E}_{α_{j},β_{j}}$ are the normalized Mittag-Leffler functions.
A starlike function $f$ is characterized by the quantity $zf'(z)/f(z)$ lying in the right half-plane. This paper deals with sharp bounds for certain symmetric Toeplitz determinants whose entries are the coefficients of the functions $f$ for which the quantity $zf'(z)/f(z)$ takes values in certain specific subset in the right half-plane. The results obtained include several new special cases and some known results.
In this paper our aim is to determine the radii of univalence, starlikeness and convexity of the normalized regular Coulomb wave functions for two different kinds of normalization. The key tools in the proof of our main results are the Mittag-Leffler expansion for regular Coulomb wave functions, and properties of zeros of the regular Coulomb wave functions and their derivatives. Moreover, by using the technique of differential subordinations we present some conditions on the parameters of the regular Coulomb wave function in order to have a starlike normalized form. In addition, by using the E…
For the standard Ma-Minda class $\mathcal{S}^{*}(ψ)$ of univalent starlike functions, we derive $\mathcal{S}^{*}(ψ)$-radii for some well-known special functions. In addition, we obtain the set of extremal functions for the classical problem $$\max_{f\in \mathcal{S}^{*}(ψ)}^{}\left|Φ\left(\log{(f(z)/z)}\right)\right| \quad \text{or} \quad \max_{f\in \mathcal{S}^{*}(ψ)}^{}\ReΦ\left(\log{(f(z)/z)}\right),$$ where $Φ$ is a non-constant entire function. Moreover, we prove certain results on convolution and radius estimates for the case when $ψ(\mathbb{D})$ is starlike.
By considering the polynomial function $ϕ_{car}(z)=1+z+z^2/2,$ we define the class $\Scar$ consisting of normalized analytic functions $f$ such that $zf'/f$ is subordinate to $ϕ_{car}$ in the unit disk. The inclusion relations and various radii constants associated with the class $\Scar$ and its connection with several well-known subclasses of starlike functions is established. As an application, the obtained results are applied to derive the properties of the partial sums and convolution.
Ma-Minda class (of starlike functions) consists of all normalized analytic functions $f$ on the unit disk for which the image of $zf'(z)/f(z)$ is contained in the some starlike region in the right-half plane. We obtain the best possible bounds on the second and third coefficient for the inverse functions of functions in the Ma-Minda class. The bounds on the Fekete-Szegö functional and the second Hankel determinant of the inverse functions of the functions belonging to the Ma-Minda class are also determined. Further, the bounds on the first five coefficients of the inverse functions are investi…
In the present paper, we discuss several basic properties of a class of quasiconformal close-to-convex harmonic mappings with starlike analytic part, such results as coefficient inequalities, an integral representation, a growth theorem, an area theorem, and radii of close-to-convexity of partial sums of the class, are derived.
We introduce and study a new Ma-Minda subclass of starlike functions $\mathcal{S}^*_{\varrho},$ defined as $$\mathcal{S}^{*}_{\varrho}:=\left\{f\in\mathcal{A}:\frac{zf'(z)}{f(z)} \prec \cosh \sqrt{z}=:\varrho(z), z\in\mathbb{D} \right\},$$ associated with an analytic univalent function $\cosh \sqrt{z},$ where we choose the branch of the square root function so that $\cosh\sqrt{z}=1+z/2!+z^{2}/{4!}+\cdots.$ We establish certain inclusion relations for $\mathcal{S}^{*}_{\varrho}$ and deduce sharp $\mathcal{S}^{*}_{\varrho}-$radii for certain subclasses of analytic functions.
Estimates on the initial coefficients are obtained for normalized analytic functions $f$ in the open unit disk with $f$ and its inverse $g=f^{-1}$ satisfying the conditions that $zf'(z)/f(z)$ and $zg'(z)/g(z)$ are both subordinate to a starlike univalent function whose range is symmetric with respect to the real axis. Several related classes of functions are also considered, and connections to earlier known results are made.
The error function occurs widely in multiple areas of mathematics, mathematical physics and natural sciences. There has been no work in this area for the past four decades. In this article, we estimate the coefficient bounds with q-difference operator for certain classes of the spirallike starlike and convex error function associated with convolution product using subordination as well as quasi-subordination. Though this concept is an untrodden path in the field of complex function theory, it will prove to be an encouraging future study for researchers on error function.
In this paper, two new subclasses of bi-univalent functions related to conic domains are defined by making use of symmetric $q$-differential operator. The initial bounds for Fekete-Szegö inequality for the functions $f$ in these classes are estimated.
In the present investigation, we consider a subclass of starlike functions associated with a petal shaped domain, recently introduced and defined by $$\mathcal{S}^{*}_ρ:=\{f\in \mathcal{A}:zf'(z)/f(z) \prec 1+\sinh^{-1} z\}.$$ We establish certain coefficient related problems such as sharp first five coefficient bounds along with sharp second and third order Hankel determinants for $\mathcal{S}^{*}_ρ$. Also, sixth and seventh coefficient bounds are estimated to obtain the fourth Hankel determinant bound for the same class.
The asymptotic behaviour, with respect to the large order, of the radii of starlikeness of two types of normalised Bessel functions is considered. We derive complete asymptotic expansions for the radii of starlikeness and provide recurrence relations for the coefficients of these expansions. The proofs rely on the notion of Rayleigh sums and asymptotic inversion. The techniques employed in the paper could be useful to treat similar problems where inversion of asymptotic expansions is involved.
