We present an infinite series of autonomous discrete equations on the square lattice possessing hierarchies of autonomous generalized symmetries and conservation laws in both directions. Their orders in both directions are equal to $κN$, where $κ$ is an arbitrary natural number and $N$ is equation number in the series. Such a structure of hierarchies is new for discrete equations in the case $N>2$.
Symmetries and conservation laws are constructed by means of the master symmetries. Those master symmetries are found in a direct way together with generalized symmetries. Such construction scheme seems to be new in the case of conservation laws. One more new point is that, in one of directions, we introduce the master symmetry time into coefficients of discrete equations.
In most interesting case $N=2$ we show that a second order generalized symmetry is closely related to a relativistic Toda type integrable equation. As far as we know, this property is very rare in the case of autonomous discrete equations.
All Darboux integrable difference equations on the quad-graph are described in the case of the equations that possess autonomous first-order integrals in one of the characteristics. A generalization of the discrete Liouville equation is obtained from a subclass of these equation via a non-point transformation. The general proposition on the symmetry structure of the quad-graph equations is proved as an auxiliary result.
The concept of the nonholonomic deformation formulated recently for the AKNS family is extended to the Kaup-Newell class. Applying this construction we discover a novel two-fold integrable hierarchy related to the deformed derivative nonlinear Schrödinger (DNLS) equation and found the exact soliton solutions exhibiting unusual accelerating motion for both its field and the perturbing functions. Extending the idea of deformation the integrable perturbation of the gauge related Chen-Lee-Liu DNLS equation is constructed together with its soliton solution. We show that, the recently proposed Lenel…
The ground state of Shor-Movassagh chain can be analytically described by the Motzkin paths. There is no analytical description of the excited states, the model is not solvable. We prove the integrability of the model without interacting part in this paper [free Shor-Movassagh]. The Lax pair for the free Shor-Movassagh open chain is explicitly constructed. We further obtain the boundary $K$-matrices compatible with the integrability of the model on the open interval. Our construction provides a direct demonstration for the quantum integrability of the model, described by Yang-Baxter algebra. D…
Motivated by the theory of Painlevé equations and associated hierarchies, we study non-autonomous Hamiltonian systems that are Frobenius integrable. We establish sufficient conditions under which a given finite-dimensional Lie algebra of Hamiltonian vector fields can be deformed to a time-dependent Lie algebra of Frobenius integrable vector fields spanning the same distribution as the original algebra. The results are applied to quasi-Stäckel systems.
We study the growth of degrees in many autonomous and non-autonomous lattice equations defined by quad rules with corner boundary values, some of which are known to be integrable by other characterisations. Subject to an enabling conjecture, we prove polynomial growth for a large class of equations which includes the Adler-Bobenko-Suris equations and Viallet's $Q_V$ and its non-autonomous generalization. Our technique is to determine the ambient degree growth of the projective version of the lattice equations and to conjecture the growth of their common factors at each lattice vertex, allowing…
In this paper we construct the autonomous quad-equations which admit as symmetries the five-point differential-difference equations belonging to known lists found by Garifullin, Yamilov and Levi. The obtained equations are classified up to autonomous point transformations and some simple non-autonomous transformations. We discuss our results in the framework of the known literature. There are among them a few new examples of both sine-Gordon and Liouville type equations.

We constructed involutions for a Halphen pencil of index 2, and proved that the birational mapping corresponding to the autonomous reduction of the elliptic Painlevé equation for the same pencil can be obtained as the composition of two such involutions.
Recently proposed nonholonomic deformation of the KdV equation is solved through inverse scattering method by constructing AKNS-type Lax pair. Exact and explicit N-soliton solutions are found for the basic field and the deforming function showing an unusual accelerated (decelerated) motion. A two-fold integrable hierarchy is revealed, one with usual higher order dispersion and the other with novel higher nonholonomic deformations.
It is well known that from two-dimensional lattice equations one can derive one-dimensional lattice equations by imposing periodicity in some direction. In this paper we generalize the periodicity condition by adding a symmetry transformation and apply this idea to autonomous and non-autonomous lattice equations. As results of this approach, we obtain new reductions of the discrete potential Korteweg-de Vries equation, discrete modified Korteweg-de Vries equation and the discrete Schwarzian Korteweg-de Vries equation. We will also describe a direct method for obtaining Lax representations for …
This article is the first one in a suite of three articles exploring connections between dynamical systems of Stäckel-type and of Painlevé- type. In this article we present a deformation of autonomous Stäckel-type systems to non-autonomous Frobenius integrable systems. First, we consider quasi-Stäckel systems with quadratic in momenta Hamiltonians containing separable potentials with time dependent coefficients and then we present a procedure of deforming these equations to non-autonomous Frobenius integrable systems. Then, we present a procedure of deforming quasi-Stäckel systems with so call…
A recursion operator is constructed for a new integrable system of coupled Korteweg - de Vries equations by the method of gauge-invariant description of zero-curvature representations. This second-order recursion operator is characterized by unusual structure of its nonlocal part.
Scaling similarity solutions of three integrable PDEs, namely the Sawada-Kotera, fifth order KdV and Kaup-Kupershmidt equations, are considered. It is shown that the resulting ODEs may be written as non-autonomous Hamiltonian equations, which are time-dependent generalizations of the well-known integrable Hénon-Heiles systems. The (time-dependent) Hamiltonians are given by logarithmic derivatives of the tau-functions (inherited from the original PDEs). The ODEs for the similarity solutions also have inherited Bäcklund transformations, which may be used to generate sequences of rational solutio…
Based on a recursive factorisation technique we show how integrable difference equations give rise to recurrences which possess the Laurent property. We derive non-autonomous Somos-$k$ sequences, with $k=4,5$, whose coefficients are periodic functions with period 8 for $k=4$, and period 7 for $k=5$, and which possess the Laurent property. We also apply our method to the DTKQ-$N$ equation, with $N=2,3$, and derive Laurent recurrences with $N+2$ terms, of order $N+3$. In the case $N=3$ the recurrence has periodic coefficients with period 8. We demonstrate that recursive factorisation also provid…
The problem of constructing semi-discrete integrable analogues of the Liouville type integrable PDE is discussed. We call the semi-discrete equation a discretization of the Liouville type PDE if these two equations have a common integral. For the Liouville type integrable equations from the well-known Goursat list for which the integrals of minimal order are of the order less than or equal to two we presented a list of corresponding semi-discrete versions. The list contains new examples of non-autonomous Darboux integrable chains.
Recent concept of integrable nonholonomic deformation found for the KdV equation is extended to the mKdV equation and generalized to the AKNS system. For the deformed mKdV equation we find a matrix Lax pair, a novel two-fold integrable hierarchy and exact N-soliton solutions exhibiting unusual accelerating motion. We show that both the deformed KdV and mKdV systems possess infinitely many generalized symmetries, conserved quantities and a recursion operator.
In this letter, the unique exact lump and topological soliton solutions of integrable (2+1) dimensional Kundu Mukherjee Naskar (KMN) equation are obtained. These solutions have an unusual property that they can get curved in the plane arbitrarily due to the presence of an arbitrary function of space(x) and time(t) in their analytic forms. Due to this special feature, the solutions can be used to model the bending of optical solitonic beam, different types of wave structures in real physical experimental conditions. This novel feature, which is a rare property for a constant coefficient complet…
The autonomous Hietarinta equation is a well-known example of the quad-graph discrete equation which is consistent around the cube. In a recent work, it was conjectured that this equation is Darboux integrable (i.e., for each of two independent discrete variables there exist non-trivial functions that remain unchanged on solutions of the equation after the shift in this discrete variable). We demonstrate that this conjecture is not true for generic values of the equation coefficients. To do this, we employ two-point invertible transformations introduced by R.I.~Yamilov. We prove that an autono…
An integrable discretization of the SIR model with vaccination is proposed. The conserved quantities of the continuous model are inherited to the discrete model through the discretization, since the discretization is based on the intersection structure of the non-algebraic invariant curve defined by the conserved quantities. Uniqueness of the forward/backward evolution of the discrete model is demonstrated in terms of the single-valuedness of the Lambert W function on the positive real axis. Furthermore, the exact solution to the continuous SIR model with vaccination is constructed via the int…
In a recent paper [TMP, 200:1 (2019), 966--984] by the authors, a series of integrable discrete autonomous equations on a square lattice with a non-standard structure of generalized symmetries is constructed. We build modified series by using discrete non-point transformations. We use both non-invertible linearizable transformations and non-point transformations invertible on solutions of the discrete equation. As a result, we get several series of new examples of discrete equations along with their generalized symmetries and master symmetries. The generalized symmetries constructed give new i…
Starting from known solutions of the functional Yang-Baxter equations, we exhibit Miura type of transformations leading to various known integrable quad equations. We then construct, from the same list of Yang-Baxter maps, a series of non-autonomous solvable recurrences of order two.
We present a method of determining a Lax representation for similarity reductions of autonomous and non-autonomous partial difference equations. This method may be used to obtain Lax representations that are general enough to provide the Lax integrability for entire hierarchies of reductions. A main result is, as an example of this framework, how we may obtain the q-Painlevé equation whose group of Bäcklund transformations is an affine Weyl group of type E_6^{(1)} as a similarity reduction of the discrete Schwarzian Korteweg-de Vries equation.
We present integrable lattice equations on a two dimensional square lattice with coupled vertex and bond variables. In some of the models the vertex dynamics is independent of the evolution of the bond variables, and one can write the equations as non-autonomous "Yang-Baxter maps". We also present a model in which the vertex and bond variables are fully coupled. Integrability is tested with algebraic entropy as well as multidimensional consistency
Using the generalized symmetry method we finish a classification, started in the article [R.N. Garifullin, R.I. Yamilov and D. Levi, Classification of five-point differential-difference equations, J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 50 (2017) 125201 (27pp)], of integrable autonomous five-point differential-difference equations. The resulting list, up to autonomous point transformations, contains 14 equations some of which seem to be new. We have found non-autonomous or non-point transformations relating most of the obtained equations among themselves as well as their generalized symmetries.
In this paper we construct a non-autonomous version of the Hietarinta equation [Hietarinta J., J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. 37 (2004), L67-L73] and study its integrability properties. We show that this equation possess linear growth of the degrees of iterates, generalized symmetries depending on arbitrary functions, and that it is Darboux integrable. We use the first integrals to provide a general solution of this equation. In particular we show that this equation is a sub-case of the non-autonomous $Q_{\rm V}$ equation, and we provide a non-autonomous Möbius transformation to another equation found…
Using the generalized symmetry method, we carry out, up to autonomous point transformations, the classification of integrable equations of a subclass of the autonomous five-point differential-difference equations. This subclass includes such well-known examples as the Itoh-Narita-Bogoyavlensky and the discrete Sawada-Kotera equations. The resulting list contains 17 equations some of which seem to be new. We have found non-point transformations relating most of the resulting equations among themselves and their generalized symmetries.
In this paper we introduce a non autonomous generalization of the $\QV$ equation introduced by Viallet. All the equations of Boll's classification appear in it for special choices of the parameters. Using the algebraic entropy test we infer that the equation should be integrable and with the aid of a formula introduced by Xenitidis we find its three point generalized symmetries.
In this paper we study the integrability of a class of nonlinear non autonomous quad graph equations compatible around the cube introduced by Boll. We show that all these equations possess three point generalized symmetries which are subcases of either the Yamilov discretization of the Krichever--Novikov equation or of its non autonomous extension. We also prove that all those symmetries are integrable as pass the algebraic entropy test.
We construct new integrable coupled systems of N=1 supersymmetric equations and present integrable fermionic extensions of the Burgers and Boussinesq equations. Existence of infinitely many higher symmetries is demonstrated by the presence of recursion operators. Various algebraic methods are applied to the analysis of symmetries, conservation laws, recursion operators, and Hamiltonian structures. A fermionic extension of the Burgers equation is related with the Burgers flows on associative algebras. A Gardner's deformation is found for the bosonic super-field dispersionless Boussinesq equatio…
The determination of the first integrals (FIs) of a dynamical system and the subsequent assessment of their integrability or superintegrability in a systematic way is still an open subject. One method which has been developed along these lines for second order autonomous dynamical systems is the so-called direct method. According to this method, one assumes a general functional form for the FI I and requires the condition dI/dt=0 along the dynamical equations. This results to a system of partial differential equations (PDEs) to which one adds the necessary integrability conditions of the invol…
Continuing our study on the complete integrability of nonlinear ordinary differential equations, in this paper we consider the integrability of a system of coupled first order nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs) of both autonomous and non-autonomous types. For this purpose, we modify the original Prelle-Singer procedure so as to apply it to both autonomous and non-autonomous systems of coupled first order ODEs. We briefly explain the method of finding integrals of motion (time independent as well as time dependent integrals) for two and three coupled first order ODEs by extending …
This is the second article in a suite of articles investigating relations between Stäckel-type systems and Painlevé-type systems. In this article we construct isomonodromic Lax representations for Painlevé-type systems found in the previous paper by Frobenius integrable deformations of Stäckel-type systems. We first construct isomonodromic Lax representations for Painlevé-type systems in the so called magnetic representation and then, using a multitime-dependent canonical transformation, we also construct isomonodromic Lax representations for Painlevé-type systems in the non-magnetic represent…
The lattice sine-Gordon equation is an integrable partial difference equation on ${\mathbb Z}^2$, which approaches the sine-Gordon equation in a continuum limit. In this paper, we show that the non-autonomous lattice sine-Gordon equation has the consistency around a broken cube property as well as its autonomous version. Moreover, we construct two new Lax pairs of the non-autonomous case by using the consistency property.
In this work, an efficient approximation scheme has been proposed for getting accurate approximate solution of nonlinear partial differential equations with constant or variable coefficients satisfying initial conditions in a series of exponential instead of an algebraic function of independent variables. As a consequence: i) the convergence of the series found to be faster than the same obtained by few other methods and ii) the exact analytic solution can be obtained from the first few terms of the series of the approximate solution, in cases the equation is integrable. The convergence of the…
We study the interpolation analogue of the Hermite-Padé type I approximation problem. We provide its determinant solution and we write down the corresponding integrable discrete system as an admissible reduction of Hirota's discrete Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equations. Apart from the $τ$-function form of the system we provide its variant, which in the simplest case of dimension two reduces to the non-autonomous discrete-time Toda equations.
In this paper the relation between the cluster integrable systems and $q$-difference equations is extended beyond the Painlevé case. We consider the class of hyperelliptic curves when the Newton polygons contain only four boundary points. The corresponding cluster integrable Toda systems are presented, and their discrete automorphisms are identified with certain reductions of the Hirota difference equation. We also construct non-autonomous versions of these equations and find that their solutions are expressed in terms of 5d Nekrasov functions with the Chern-Simons contributions, while in the …
The recursion operators and symmetries of non-autonomous, (1+1)-dimensional integrable evolution equations are considered. It has been previously observed that the symmetries of the integrable evolution equations obtained through their recursion operators do not satisfy the symmetry equations. There have been several attempts to resolve this problem. It is shown that in the case of time dependent evolution equations or time dependent recursion operators, associativity is lost. Due to this fact such recursion operators need modifications. A general formula is given for the missing term of the r…
Nonlinear second-order ordinary differential equations are common in various fields of science, such as physics, mechanics and biology. Here we provide a new family of integrable second-order ordinary differential equations by considering the general case of a linearization problem via certain nonlocal transformations. In addition, we show that each equation from the linearizable family admits a transcendental first integral and study particular cases when this first integral is autonomous or rational. Thus, as a byproduct of solving this linearization problem we obtain a classification of sec…
We provide a general solution for a first order ordinary differential equation with a rational right-hand side, which arises in constructing asymptotics for large time of simultaneous solutions of the Korteweg-de Vries equation and the stationary part of its higher non-autonomous symmetry. This symmetry is determined by a linear combination of the first higher autonomous symmetry of the Korteweg-de Vries equation and of its classical Galileo symmetry. This general solution depends on an arbitrary parameter. By the implicit function theorem, locally it is determined by the first integral explic…
We present a general solution-generating result within the bidifferential calculus approach to integrable partial differential and difference equations, based on a binary Darboux-type transformation. This is then applied to the non-autonomous chiral model, a certain reduction of which is known to appear in the case of the D-dimensional vacuum Einstein equations with D-2 commuting Killing vector fields. A large class of exact solutions is obtained, and the aforementioned reduction is implemented. This results in an alternative to the well-known Belinski-Zakharov formalism. We recover relevant e…
We consider the extended discrete KP hierarchy and show that similarity reduction of its subhierarchies lead to purely discrete equations with dependence on some number of parameters together with equations governing deformations with respect to these parameters. It is written down discrete equations which naturally generalize the first discrete Painlevé equation $\mathrm{dP}_{\rm I}$ in a sense that autonomous version of these equations admit the limit to the first Painlevé equation. It is shown that each of these equations describes Bäcklund transformations of Veselov-Shabat periodic dressin…
Starting from multidimensional consistency of non-commutative lattice modified Gel'fand-Dikii systems we present the corresponding solutions of the functional (set-theoretic) Yang-Baxter equation, which are non-commutative versions of the maps arising from geometric crystals. Our approach works under additional condition of centrality of certain products of non-commuting variables. Then we apply such a restriction on the level of the Gel'fand-Dikii systems what allows to obtain non-autonomous (but with central non-autonomous factors) versions of the equations. In particular we recover known no…
Hirota's discrete Korteweg-de Vries equation (dKdV) is an integrable partial difference equation on 2-dimensional integer lattice, which approaches the Korteweg-de Vries equation in a continuum limit. We find new transformations to other equations, including a second-degree second-order partial difference equation, which provide an unusual embedding into a three-dimensional lattice. The consistency of the resulting system extends a property that has been widely used to study partial difference equations on multidimensional lattices.
The non-autonomous chiral model equation for an $m \times m$ matrix function on a two-dimensional space appears in particular in general relativity, where for $m=2$ a certain reduction of it determines stationary, axially symmetric solutions of Einstein's vacuum equations, and for $m=3$ solutions of the Einstein-Maxwell equations. Using a very simple and general result of the bidifferential calculus approach to integrable partial differential and difference equations, we generate a large class of exact solutions of this chiral model. The solutions are parametrized by a set of matrices, the siz…
We show that the Painlev{é} VI equation has an equivalent form of the non-autonomous Zhukovsky-Volterra gyrostat. This system is a generalization of the Euler top in $C^3$ and include the additional constant gyrostat momentum. The quantization of its autonomous version is achieved by the reflection equation. The corresponding quadratic algebra generalizes the Sklyanin algebra. As by product we define integrable XYZ spin chain on a finite lattice with new boundary conditions.
We examine the validity of the results obtained with the singularity confinement integrability criterion in the case of discrete Painlevé equations. The method used is based on the requirement of non-exponential growth of the homogeneous degree of the iterate of the mapping. We show that when we start from an integrable autonomous mapping and deautonomise it using singularity confinement the degrees of growth of the nonautonomous mapping and of the autonomous one are identical. Thus this low-growth based approach is compatible with the integrability of the results obtained through singularity …
In this paper we suggest generalizations of elliptic integrable tops to matrix-valued variables. Our consideration is based on $R$-matrix description which provides Lax pairs in terms of quantum and classical $R$-matrices. First, we prove that for relativistic (and non-relativistic) tops such Lax pairs with spectral parameter follow from the associative Yang-Baxter equation and its degenerations. Then we proceed to matrix extensions of the models and find out that some additional constraints are required for their construction. We describe a matrix version of ${\mathbb Z}_2$ reduced elliptic t…
In this paper we consider the general setting for constructing Action Principles for three-dimensional first order autonomous equations. We present the results for some integrable and non-integrable cases of the Lotka-Volterra equation, and we show Lagrangian descriptions which are valid for systems satisfying Shil'nikov criteria on the existence of strange attractors, though chaotic behavior or homoclinic orbits have not been verified up to now. The Euler-Lagrange equations we get for these systems usually present "time reparameterization" symmetry, though other kinds of invariance may be fou…
We carry out the generalized symmetry classification of polylinear autonomous discrete equations defined on the square, which belong to a twelve-parametric class. The direct result of this classification is a list of equations containing no new examples. However, as an indirect result of this work we find a number of integrable examples pretending to be new. One of them has a nonstandard symmetry structure, the others are analogues of the Liouville equation in the sense that those are Darboux integrable. We also enumerate all equations of the class, which are linearizable via a two-point first…
We derive integrable equations starting from autonomous mappings with a general form inspired by the multiplicative systems associated to the affine Weyl group E$_8^{(1)}$. Five such systems are obtained, three of which turn out to be linearisable and the remaining two are integrable in terms of elliptic functions. In the case of the linearisable mappings we derive nonautonomous forms which contain a free function of the dependent variable and we present the linearisation in each case. The two remaining systems are deautonomised to new discrete Painlevé equations. We show that these equations …
In this paper, we investigate a nonlinear non-autonomous elliptic difference equation, which was constructed by Ramani, Carstea and Grammaticos by integrable deautonomization of a periodic reduction of the discrete Krichever-Novikov equation, or Q4. We show how to construct it as a birational mapping on a rational surface blown up at eight points in $\mathbb P^1\times \mathbb P^1$, and find its affine Weyl symmetry, placing it in the geometric framework of the Painlevé equations. The initial value space is ell-$A_0^{(1)}$ and its symmetry group is $W(F_4^{(1)})$. We show that the deautonomizat…
