Because of the similarity of the main theorem to the article by F. Kittaneh and M. Krnic. (Refined Heinz operator inequalities. Linear and Multilinear Algebra 61.8 (2013): 1148-1157.), we prefer to withdraw this article from arXiv
In this article we study the Heinz and Hermite-Hadamard inequalities. We derive the whole series of refinements of these inequalities involving unitarily invariant norms, which improve some recent results, known from the literature. We also prove that if $A , B, X\in M_n(\mathbb{C})$ such that $A$ and $B$ are positive definite and $f$ is an operator monotone function on $(0,\infty)$. Then \begin{equation*} |||f(A)X-Xf(B)|||\leq \max\{||f'(A)||, ||f'(B)||\} |||AX-XB|||. \end{equation*} Finally we obtain a series of refinements of the Heinz operator inequalities, which were proved by Kittaneh an…
In this paper, we give a new inequality for convex functions of real variables, and we apply this inequality to obtain considerable generalizations, refinements, and reverses of the Young and Heinz inequalities for positive scalars. Applications to unitarily invariant norm inequalities involving positive semidefinite matrices are also given.
We give some new refinements of Heinz inequality and an improvement of the reverse Young's inequality for scalars and we use them to establish new inequalities for operators and the Hilbert-Schmidt norm of matrices. We give a uniformly and abbreviated form of the inequalities presented by Kittaneh and Mansarah, and the inequalities presented by Kai and we obtain some of their operator and matrix versions.
In this article, we present several inequalities treating operator means and the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality. In particular, we present some new comparisons between operator Heron and Heinz means, several generalizations of the difference version of the Heinz means and further refinements of the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality. The techniques used to accomplish these results include convexity and Löwner matrices.
The main goal of this article is to present several quadratic refinements and reverses of the well known Heinz inequality, for numbers and matrices, where the refining term is a quadratic function in the mean parameters. The proposed idea introduces a new approach to these inequalities, where polynomial interpolation of the Heinz function plays a major role. As a consequence, we obtain a new proof of the celebrated Heron-Heinz inequality proved by Bhatia, then we study an optimization problem to find the best possible refinement. As applications, we present matrix versions including unitarily …
A version of the Cauchy-Schwarz inequality in operator theory is the following: for any two symmetric, positive definite matrices $A,B \in \mathbb{R}^{n \times n}$ and arbitrary $X \in \mathbb{R}^{n \times n}$ $$ \|AXB\| \leq \|A^2 X\|^{\frac{1}{2}} \|X B^2\|^{\frac{1}{2}}.$$ This inequality is classical and equivalent to the celebrated Heinz-Löwner, Heinz-Kato and Cordes inequalities. We characterize cases of equality: in particular, after factoring out the symmetry coming from multiplication with scalars $ \|A^2 X\| = 1 = \|X B^2\|$, the case of equality requires that $A$ and $B$ have a comm…
We establish a reverse inequality for Tsallis relative operator entropy involving a positive linear map. In addition, we present converse of Ando's inequality, for each parameter. We give examples to compare our results with the known results by Furuta and Seo. In particular, we establish an extension and a reverse of the Löwner-Heinz inequality under certain condition. Some interesting consequences of inner product spaces and norm inequalities are also presented.
In this article, we prove that convex functions and log-convex functions obey certain general refinements that lead to several refinements and reverses of well known inequalities for matrices, including Young's inequality, Heinz inequality, the arithmetic-harmonic and the geometric-harmonic mean inequalities.
The main goal of this article is to find the exact difference between a convex function and its secant, as a limit of positive quantities. This idea will be expressed as a convex inequality that leads to refinements and reversals of well established inequalities treating different means. The significance of these inequalities is to write one inequality that brings together and refine almost all known inequalities treating the arithmetic, geometric, harmonic and Heinz means, for numbers and operators.
In this note, some refinements of Young inequality and its reverse for positive numbers are proved and using these inequalities some operator versions and Hilbert-Schmidt norm versions for matrices of these inequalities are obtained.
In this paper we focus our attention on an embedding result for a weighted Sobolev space that involves as weight the distance function from the boundary taken with respect to a general smooth gauge function $F$. Starting from this type of inequalities we prove some refined Hardy-type inequalities.
In this paper, we introduce the notion of conditional $h$-convex functions and we prove an operator version of the Jensen inequality for conditional $h$-convex functions. Using this type of functions, we give some refinements for Ky-Fan's inequality, arithmetic-geometric mean inequality, Chrystal inequality, and H$\ddot{o}$lder-McCarthy inequality. Many of the other inequalities can be refined by applying this new notion.
Hadamard's determinant inequality was refined and generalized by Zhang and Yang in [Acta Math. Appl. Sinica 20 (1997) 269-274]. Some special cases of the result were rediscovered recently by Rozanski, Witula and Hetmaniok in [Linear Algebra Appl. 532 (2017) 500-511]. We revisit the result in the case of positive semidefinite matrices, giving a new proof in terms of majorization and a complete description of the conditions for equality in the positive definite case. We also mention a block extension, which makes use of a result of Thompson in the 1960s.
In this article, we prove an inner product inequality for Hilbert space operators. This inequality, then, is utilized to present a general numerical radius inequality using convex functions. Applications of the new results include obtaining new forms that generalize and extend some well known results in the literature, with an application to the newly defined generalized numerical radius. We emphasize that the approach followed in this article is different from the approaches used in the literature to obtain the refined versions.
In this work, an improvement of Hölder-McCarty inequality is established. Based on that, several refinements of the generalized mixed Schwarz inequality are obtained. Consequently, some new numerical radius inequalities are proved. New inequalities for numerical radius of $n\times n$ matrix of Hilbert space operators are proved as well. Some refinements of some earlier results were proved in literature are also given. Some of the presented results are refined and it shown to be better than earlier results were proved in literature.
We prove that for a probability measure on $\mathbb{R}^n$, the Poincaré inequality for convex functions is equivalent to the weak transportation inequality with a quadratic-linear cost. This generalizes recent results by Gozlan et al. and Feldheim et al., concerning probability measures on the real line. The proof relies on modified logarithmic Sobolev inequalities of Bobkov-Ledoux type for convex and concave functions, which are of independent interest. We also present refined concentration inequalities for general (not necessarily Lipschitz) convex functions, complementing recent results by …
The Cauchy-Schwarz, Buzano and Kre\uın inequalities are three inequalities about inner product. The main goal of this article is to present refinements of Buzano and Cauchy-Schwarz inequalities, and to present a new proof of a refined version of a Kre\uın-type inequality. Applications that include Buzano-type inequalities for certain operators, operator norm and numerical radius inequalities of Hilbert space operators will be presented.
In this paper we employ some operator techniques to establish some refinements and reverses of the Callebaut inequality involving the geometric mean and Hadamard product under some mild conditions. In particular, we show \begin{align*} K&\left(\frac{M^{2t-1}}{m^{2t-1}},2\right)^{r'} \sum_{j=1}^n(A_j\sharp_{s}B_j)\circ \sum_{j=1}^n(A_j\sharp_{1-s}B_j) \nonumber\\&\,\,+\left(\frac{t-s}{t-1/2}\right)\left(\sum_{j=1}^n(A_j\sharp_{t}B_j)\circ \sum_{j=1}^n(A_j\sharp_{1-t}B_j) -\sum_{j=1}^n(A_j\sharp B_j)\circ \sum_{j=1}^n(A_j\sharp B_j)\right)\nonumber \\&\leq \sum_{j=1}^n(A_j\sharp_{t}B_j)\circ \su…
We propose a refinement of the Robertson-Schrodinger uncertainty principle (RSUP) using Wigner distributions. This new principle is stronger than the RSUP. In particular, and unlike the RSUP, which can be saturated by many phase space functions, the refined RSUP can be saturated by pure Gaussian Wigner functions only. Moreover, the new principle is technically as simple as the standard RSUP. In addition, it makes a direct connection with modern harmonic analysis, since it involves the Wigner transform and its symplectic Fourier transform, which is the radar ambiguity function. As a by-product …
