We compute the p-adic Abel-Jacobi map of the product of a Hilbert modular surface and a modular curve at a null-homologous (modified) embedding of the modular curve in this product, evaluated on differentials associated to a Hilbert cuspidal form f of weight (2,2) and a cuspidal form of weight 2. We generalize this computation to suitable null-homological cycles in the fibre products of the universal families on the surface and the curve, evaluated at differentials associated to f and g of higher weights. We express the values of the p-adic Abel-Jacobi map at these weights in terms of a p-adic L- function associated to a Hida family of Hilbert modular forms and a Hida family of cuspidal forms. Our function is a Hilbert modular analogue of the p- adic L-function defined by Darmon and Rotger.
We prove the Gross-Zagier-Zhang formula over global function fields of arbitrary characteristics. It is an explicit formula which relates the Neron-Tate heights of CM points on abelian varieties and central derivatives of associated quadratic base change $L$-functions. Our proof is based on an arithmetic variant of a relative trace identity of Jacquet. This approach is proposed by W. Zhang.
In this work, we show that the difference of a Hauptmodul for a genus zero group $Γ_{0}(N)$ as a Hilbert modular function on $Y_{0}(N)\times Y_{0}(N)$ is a Borcherds lift of type $(2,2)$. As applications, we derive Monster denominator formula like product expansions for these Hilbert modular functions and certain Gross-Zagier type CM value formulas.
We give a proof of a soft version of the $p$-converse to a theorem of Gross--Zagier and Kolyvagin for non-CM elliptic curves with good ordinary reduction at $p >3$ under the irreducibility assumption on the residual representation. In particular, no condition on the conductor is imposed. Combining with the known results, we obtain that the Mordell-Weil rank is one and the Tate-Shafarevich group is finite if and only if the analytic rank is one for every elliptic curve over the rationals.
Let $p$ be an odd prime. Given an imaginary quadratic field $K=\mathbb{Q}(\sqrt{-D_K})$ where $p$ splits with $D_K>3$, and a $p$-ordinary newform $f \in S_k(Γ_0(N))$ such that $N$ verifies the Heegner hypothesis relative to $K$, we prove a $p$-adic Gross-Zagier formula for the critical slope $p$-stabilization of $f$ (assuming that it is non-$θ$-critical). In the particular case when $f=f_A$ is the newform of weight $2$ associated to an elliptic curve $A$ that has good ordinary reduction at $p$, this allows us to verify a conjecture of Perrin-Riou. The $p$-adic Gross-Zagier formula we prove has…
Let $X$ be a quotient of the modular curve $X_0(N)$ whose Jacobian $J_X$ is a simple factor of $J_0(N)^{new}$ over $\mathbb{Q}$. Let $f$ be the newform of level $N$ and weight 2 associated with $J_X$; assume $f$ has analytic rank 1. We give analytic methods for determining the rational points of $X$ using quadratic Chabauty by computing two $p$-adic Gross-Zagier formulas for $f$. Quadratic Chabauty requires a supply of rational points on the curve or its Jacobian; this new method eliminates this requirement. To achieve this, we give an algorithm to compute the special value of the anticyclotom…
We prove that Heegner cycles of codimension m+1 inside Kuga-Sato type varieties of dimension 2m+1 are coefficients of modular forms of weight 3/2+m in the appropriate quotient group. The main technical tool for generating the necessary relations is a Borcherds style theta lift with polynomials. We also show how this lift defines a new singular Shimura-type correspondence from weakly holomorphic modular forms of weight 1/2-m to meromorphic modular forms of weight 2m+2.
In this note, we will apply the results of Gross-Zagier, Gross-Kohnen-Zagier and their generalizations to give a short proof that the differences of singular moduli are not units. As a consequence, we obtain a result on isogenies between reductions of CM elliptic curves.
Xue proved an equational refinement of the unitary Shimura curve case of the arithmetic Gan-Gross-Prasad conjecture via the Gross-Zagier formula for quaternionic Shimura curves. On the other hand, Rapoport, Smithling and Zhang posed a variant of the conjecture, using modified PEL type Shimura varieties, which we call RSZ Shimura varieties. We reinterpret the result of Xue in terms of the modified Shimura curves. We then use the reinterpretation to prove a case of the variant of the conjecture. Our result combined with the work of Xue establishes a connection between the variant and the Gross-Z…
A quadratic twist of the L-function associated with a modular form is known to satisfy a functional equation, which may be even or odd. A result due to Gross and Zagier explicitly computes the central value of the L-function or its derivative. In prime level when the functional equation is even, Michel and Ramakrishnan have used an averaging method to prove several consequences of the Gross-Zagier formulae, including a non-vanishing result. The present research concerns L-functions arising from newforms in prime-squared level, which necessarily have odd functional equations. Such an L-function…
Gross and Zagier conjectured that the CM values (of certain Hecke translates) of the automorphic Green function $G_s(z_1,z_2)$ for the elliptic modular group at positive integral spectral parameter $s$ are given by logarithms of algebraic numbers in suitable class fields. We prove a partial average version of this conjecture, where we sum in the first variable $z_1$ over all CM points of a fixed discriminant $d_1$ (twisted by a genus character), and allow in the second variable the evaluation at individual CM points of discriminant $d_2$. This result is deduced from more general statements for…
We construct indecomposable cycles in the motivic cohomology group $H^3_{\mathcal M}(A,{\mathbb Q}(2))$ where $A$ is an Abelian surface over a number field or the function field of a base. When $A$ is the self product of the universal elliptic curve over a modular curve, these cycles can be used to prove algebraicity results for values of higher Green's functions, similar to a conjecture of Gross, Kohnen and Zagier. We formulate a conjecture which relates our work with the recent work of Bruinier-Ehlen-Yang on the conjecture of Gross-Kohnen-Zagier.
