Given a simple graph $G$, a dominating set in $G$ is a set of vertices $S$ such that every vertex not in $S$ has a neighbor in $S$. Denote the domination number, which is the size of any minimum dominating set of $G$, by $γ(G)$. For any integer $k\ge 1$, a function $f : V (G) \rightarrow \{0, 1, . . ., k\}$ is called a \emph{$\{k\}$-dominating function} if the sum of its function values over any closed neighborhood is at least $k$. The weight of a $\{k\}$-dominating function is the sum of its values over all the vertices. The $\{k\}$-domination number of $G$, $γ_{\{k\}}(G)$, is defined to be the minimum weight taken over all $\{k\}$-domination functions. Brešar, Henning, and Klavžar (On integer domination in graphs and Vizing-like problems. \emph{Taiwanese J. Math.} {10(5)} (2006) pp. 1317--1328) asked whether there exists an integer $k\ge 2$ so that $γ_{\{k\}}(G\square H)\ge γ(G)γ(H)$. In this note we use the Roman $\{2\}$-domination number, $γ_{R2}$ of Chellali, Haynes, Hedetniemi, and McRae, (Roman $\{2\}$-domination. \emph{Discrete Applied Mathematics} {204} (2016) pp. 22-28.) to prove that if $G$ is a claw-free graph and $H$ is an arbitrary graph, then $γ_{\{2\}}(G\square H)\ge γ_{R2}(G\square H)\ge γ(G)γ(H)$, which also implies the conjecture for all $k\ge 2$.
Power domination is a two-step observation process that is used to monitor power networks and can be viewed as a combination of domination and zero forcing. Given a graph $G$, a subset $S\subseteq V(G)$ that can observe all vertices of $G$ using this process is known as a power dominating set of $G$, and the power domination number of $G$, $γ_P(G)$, is the minimum number of vertices in a power dominating set. We introduce a new partition on the vertices of a graph to provide a lower bound for the power domination number. We also consider the power domination number of the Cartesian product of …
Let $G$ be a graph each component of which has order at least 3, and let $G$ have order $n$, size $m$, total domination number $γ_t$ and maximum degree $Δ(G)$. Let $Δ= 3$ if $Δ(G) = 2$ and $Δ= Δ(G)$ if $Δ(G) \ge 3$. It is known [J. Graph Theory 49 (2005), 285--290; J. Graph Theory 54 (2007), 350--353] that $m \le Δ(n- γ_t)$. In this paper we characterize the extremal graphs $G$ satisfying $m = Δ(n- γ_t)$.
A set of vertices $S$ in a simple isolate-free graph $G$ is a semi-total dominating set of $G$ if it is a dominating set of $G$ and every vertex of $S$ is within distance 2 or less with another vertex of $S$. The semi-total domination number of $G$, denoted by $γ_{t2}(G)$, is the minimum cardinality of a semi-total dominating set of $G$. In this paper, we study semi-total domination of Cartesian products of graphs. Our main result establishes that for any graphs $G$ and $H$, $γ_{t2}(G\,\square\, H)\ge \frac{1}{3}γ_{t2}(G)γ_{t2}(H)$.
Recently the notion of $k$-rainbow total domination was introduced for a graph $G$, motivated by a desire to reduce the problem of computing the total domination number of the generalized prism $G \Box K_k$ to an integer labeling problem on $G$. In this paper we further demonstrate usefulness of the labeling approach, presenting bounds on the rainbow total domination number in terms of the total domination number, the rainbow domination number and the rainbow total domination number, as well as the usual domination number, where the latter presents a generalization of a result by Goddard and H…
Let $γ(G)$ denote the domination number of a graph $G$. A {\it Roman domination function} of a graph $G$ is a function $f: V\to\{0,1,2\}$ such that every vertex with 0 has a neighbor with 2. The {\it Roman domination number} $γ_R(G)$ is the minimum of $f(V(G))=Σ_{v\in V}f(v)$ over all such functions. Let $G\square H$ denote the Cartesian product of graphs $G$ and $H$. We prove that $γ(G)γ(H) \leq γ_R(G\square H)$ for all simple graphs $G$ and $H$, which is an improvement of $γ(G)γ(H) \leq 2γ(G\square H)$ given by Clark and Suen \cite{CS}, since $γ(G\square H)\leq γ_R(G\square H)\leq 2γ(G\squar…
For any graph $G=(V,E)$, a subset $S\subseteq V$ \emph{dominates} $G$ if all vertices are contained in the closed neighborhood of $S$, that is $N[S]=V$. The minimum cardinality over all such $S$ is called the domination number, written $γ(G)$. In 1963, V.G. Vizing conjectured that $γ(G \square H) \geq γ(G)γ(H)$ where $\square$ stands for the Cartesian product of graphs. In this note, we prove the conjecture.
A well-known conjecture of Vizing is that $γ(G \square H) \ge γ(G)γ(H)$ for any pair of graphs $G, H$, where $γ$ is the domination number and $G \square H$ is the Cartesian product of $G$ and $H$. Suen and Tarr, improving a result of Clark and Suen, showed $γ(G \square H) \ge \frac{1}{2}γ(G)γ(H) + \frac{1}{2}\min(γ(G),γ(H))$. We further improve their result by showing $γ(G \square H) \ge \frac{1}{2}γ(G)γ(H) + \frac{1}{2}\max(γ(G),γ(H)).$
Let $γ(G)$ denote the domination number of graph $G$. Let $G$ and $H$ be graphs and $G\Box H$ their Cartesian product. For $h\in V(H)$ define $G_h=\{(g,h)\,|\,g\in V(G)\}$ and call this set a $G$-layer of $G\Box H$. We prove the following special case of Vizing's conjecture. Let $D$ be a dominating set of $G\Box H$. If there exist minimum dominating sets $D_1$ and $D_2$ of $G$ such that for every $h\in V(H)$, the projection of $D\cap G_h$ to $G$ is contained in $D_1$ or $D_2$, then $|D|\geq γ(G)γ(H)$.
Vizing's conjecture (open since 1968) relates the product of the domination numbers of two graphs to the domination number of their Cartesian product graph. In this paper, we formulate Vizing's conjecture as a Positivstellensatz existence question. In particular, we select classes of graphs according to their number of vertices and their domination number and encode the conjecture as an ideal/polynomial pair such that the polynomial is non-negative on the variety associated with the ideal if and only if the conjecture is true for this graph class. Using semidefinite programming we obtain numer…
For any graph $G=(V,E)$, a subset $S\subseteq V$ $dominates$ $G$ if all vertices are contained in the closed neighborhood of $S$, that is $N[S]=V$. The minimum cardinality over all such $S$ is called the domination number, written $γ(G)$. In 1963, V.G. Vizing conjectured that $γ(G \square H) \geq γ(G)γ(H)$ where $\square$ stands for the Cartesian product of graphs. In this note, we prove that if $\left|G\right|\geq γ(G)γ(H)$ and $\left|H\right|\geq γ(G)γ(H)$, then the conjecture holds. This result quickly implies Vizing's conjecture for almost all pairs of graphs $G,H$ with $\left|G\right|\geq…

In this note, we define classes of graphs $\mathcal{A}_n$, for $n\geq 0$, so that every graph belongs to some such class, and $\mathcal{A}_0$ corresponds to class $A$ of Bartsalkin and German. We prove that for any graph $G$ in…
Given a graph $G$, a dominating set $D$ is a set of vertices such that any vertex in $G$ has at least one neighbor (or possibly itself) in $D$. A ${k}$-dominating multiset $D_k$ is a multiset of vertices such that any vertex in $G$ has at least $k$ vertices from its closed neighborhood in $D_k$ when counted with multiplicity. In this paper, we utilize the approach developed by Clark and Suen (2000) and properties of binary matrices to prove a "Vizing-like" inequality on minimum ${k}$-dominating multisets of graphs $G,H$ and the Cartesian product graph $G \Box H$. Specifically, denoting the siz…
The power domination problem focuses on finding the optimal placement of phase measurement units (PMUs) to monitor an electrical power network. In the context of graphs, the power domination number of a graph $G$, denoted $γ_P(G)$, is the minimum number of vertices needed to observe every vertex in the graph according to a specific set of observation rules. In \cite{ZKC_cubic}, Zhao et al. proved that if $G$ is a connected claw-free cubic graph of order $n$, then $γ_P(G) \leq n/4$. In this paper, we show that if $G$ is a claw-free diamond-free cubic graph of order $n$, then $γ_P(G) \le n/6$, a…
For any graphs $G$ and $H$, we say that a bound is of Vizing-type if $γ(G\square H)\geq c γ(G)γ(H)$ for some constant $c$. We show several bounds of Vizing-type for graphs $G$ with forbidden induced subgraphs. In particular, if $G$ is a triangle and $K_{1,r}$-free graph, then for any graph $H$, $γ(G\square H)\geq \frac{r}{2r-1}γ(G)γ(H)$. If $G$ is a $K_r$ and $P_5$-free graph for some integer $r\geq 2$, then for any graph $H$, $γ(G\square H)\geq \frac{r-1}{2r-3}γ(G)γ(H)$. We do this by bounding the power of $G$, $π(G)$. We show that if $G$ is claw-free and $P_6$-free or $K_4$ and $P_5$-free, t…
Let $G$ be a Class 1 graph with maximum degree $4$ and let $t\geq 5$ be an integer. We show that any proper $t$-edge coloring of $G$ can be transformed to any proper $4$-edge coloring of $G$ using only transformations on $2$-colored subgraphs (so-called interchanges). This settles the smallest previously unsolved case of a well-known problem of Vizing on interchanges, posed in 1965. Using our result we give an affirmative answer to a question of Mohar for two classes of graphs: we show that all proper $5$-edge colorings of a Class 1 graph with maximum degree 4 are Kempe equivalent, that is, ca…
A $k$-tuple total dominating set ($k$TDS) of a graph $G$ is a set $S$ of vertices in which every vertex in $G$ is adjacent to at least $k$ vertices in $S$; the minimum size of a $k$TDS is denoted $γ_{\times k,t}(G)$. We give a Vizing-like inequality for Cartesian product graphs, namely $γ_{\times k,t}(G) γ_{\times k,t}(H) \leq 2k γ_{\times k,t}(G \Box H)$ provided $γ_{\times k,t}(G) \leq 2kρ(G)$, where $ρ$ is the packing number. We also give bounds on $γ_{\times k,t}(G \Box H)$ in terms of (open) packing numbers, and consider the extremal case of $γ_{\times k,t}(K_n \Box K_m)$, i.e., the rook'…
A dominating set $D$ for a graph $G$ is a subset of $V(G)$ such that any vertex not in $D$ has at least one neighbor in $D$. The domination number $γ(G)$ is the size of a minimum dominating set in $G$. Vizing's conjecture from 1968 states that for the Cartesian product of graphs $G$ and $H$, $γ(G) γ(H) \leq γ(G \Box H)$, and Clark and Suen (2000) proved that $γ(G) γ(H) \leq 2γ(G \Box H)$. In this paper, we modify the approach of Clark and Suen to prove a variety of similar bounds related to total and paired domination, and also extend these bounds to the $n$-Cartesian product of graphs $A^1$ t…
An integer distance digraph is the Cayley graph $Γ(\mathbb{Z},S)$ of the additive group $\mathbb{Z}$ of all integers with respect to some finite subset $S \subseteq \mathbb{Z}$. The domination ratio of $Γ(\mathbb{Z},S)$ is the minimum density of a dominating set in $Γ(\mathbb{Z},S)$. We establish some basic results on the domination ratio of $Γ(\mathbb{Z},S)$ and precisely determine it when $S=\{s,t\}$ with $s$ dividing $t$.
An integer distance digraph is the Cayley graph $Γ(\mathbb{Z},S)$ of the additive group $\mathbb{Z}$ of all integers with respect to a finite subset $S\subseteq\mathbb{Z}$. The domination ratio of $Γ(\mathbb{Z},S)$, defined as the minimum density of its dominating sets, is related to some number theory problems, such as tiling the integers and finding the maximum density of a set of integers with missing differences. We precisely determine the domination ratio of the integer distance graph $Γ(\mathbb{Z},\{1,2,\ldots,d-2,s\})$ for any integers $d$ and $s$ satisfying $d\ge2$ and $s\notin[0,d-2]$…
Let $G=(V,E)$ be a simple undirected graph. $G$ is a circulant graph defined on $V=\mathbb{Z}_n$ with difference set $D\subseteq \{1,2,\ldots,\lfloor\frac{n}{2}\rfloor\}$ provided two vertices $i$ and $j$ in $\mathbb{Z}_n$ are adjacent if and only if $\min\{|i-j|, n-|i-j|\}\in D$. For convenience, we use $G(n;D)$ to denote such a circulant graph. A function $f:V(G)\rightarrow\mathbb{N}\cup\{0\}$ is an integer $\{k\}$-domination function if for each $v\in V(G)$, $\sum_{u\in N_G[v]}f(u)\geq k.$ By considering all $\{k\}$-domination functions $f$, the minimum value of $\sum_{v\in V(G)}f(v)$ is th…
Let $G=(V,E)$ be a graph and $p$ a positive integer. A subset $S\subseteq V$ is called a $p$-dominating set of $G$ if every vertex not in $S$ has at least $p$ neighbors in $S$. The $p$-domination number is the minimum cardinality of a $p$-dominating set in $G$. In this paper, we establish an exact formula of the $p$-domination number of all complete multipartite graphs for arbitrary positive integer $p$.
A dominating (respectively, total dominating) set $S$ of a digraph $D$ is a set of vertices in $D$ such that the union of the closed (respectively, open) out-neighborhoods of vertices in $S$ equals the vertex set of $D$. The minimum size of a dominating (respectively, total dominating) set of $D$ is the domination (respectively, total domination) number of $D$, denoted $γ(D)$ (respectively,$γ_t(D)$). The maximum number of pairwise disjoint closed (respectively, open) in-neighborhoods of $D$ is denoted by $ρ(D)$ (respectively,$ρ^{\rm o}(D)$). We prove that in digraphs whose underlying graphs hav…
For a graph $G$, let $γ_R(G)$ and $γ_{r2}(G)$ denote the Roman domination number of $G$ and the $2$-rainbow domination number of $G$, respectively. It is known that $γ_{r2}(G)\leq γ_R(G)\leq \frac{3}{2}γ_{r2}(G)$. Fujita and Furuya (Difference between 2-rainbow domination and Roman domination in graphs, Discrete Applied Mathematics 161 (2013) 806-812) present some kind of characterization of the graphs $G$ for which $γ_R(G)-γ_{r2}(G)=k$ for some integer $k$. Unfortunately, their result does not lead to an algorithm that allows to recognize these graphs efficiently. We show that for every fixed…
The unitary Cayley graph of $\mathbb{Z}/n\mathbb{Z}$, denoted $X_n$, is the graph on $\{0,\dots,n-1\}$ where vertices $a$ and $b$ are adjacent if and only if $\gcd(a-b,n) = 1$. We answer a question of Defant and Iyer by constructing a family of infinitely many integers $n$ such that $γ_t(X_n) \leq g(n) - 2$, where $γ_t$ denotes the total domination number and $g$ denotes the Jacobsthal function. We determine the irredundance number, domination number, and lower independence number of certain direct products of complete graphs and give bounds for these parameters for any direct product of compl…
In this paper, we study independent domination in directed graphs, which was recently introduced by Cary, Cary, and Prabhu. We provide a short, algorithmic proof that all directed acyclic graphs contain an independent dominating set. Using linear algebraic tools, we prove that any strongly connected graph with even period has at least two independent dominating sets, generalizing several of the results of Cary, Cary, and Prabhu. We prove that determining the period of the graph is not sufficient to determine the existence of an independent dominating set by constructing a few examples of infin…
Let k be a positive integer and let f be a map from V(G) to the set of all subsets of {1,2,3,...,k}. The function f is called a k-rainbow dominating function of G provided that whenever u is a vertex of G such that f(u) is the empty set, then for each integer r in {1,2,3,...,k} there is a neighbor x of u such that f(x) contains r. The k-rainbow domination number of G is the minimum sum (over all the vertices of G) of the cardinalities of the subsets assigned by a k-rainbow dominating function of G. The k-rainbow domination number of G is the ordinary domination number of the Cartesian product …
The domination multisubdivision number of a nonempty graph $G$ was defined as the minimum positive integer $k$ such that there exists an edge which must be subdivided $k$ times to increase the domination number of $G$. Similarly we define the total domination multisubdivision number msd$_{γ_t}(G)$ of a graph $G$ and we show that for any connected graph $G$ of order at least two, msd$_{γ_t}(G)\leq 3.$ We show that for trees the total domination multisubdivision number is equal to the known total domination subdivision number. We also determine the total domination multisubdivision number for so…
The domination number $γ(G)$ of a graph $G$, its exponential domination number $γ_e(G)$, and its porous exponential domination number $γ_e^*(G)$ satisfy $γ_e^*(G)\leq γ_e(G)\leq γ(G)$. We contribute results about the gaps in these inequalities as well as the graphs for which some of the inequalities hold with equality. Relaxing the natural integer linear program whose optimum value is $γ_e^*(G)$, we are led to the definition of the fractional porous exponential domination number $γ_{e,f}^*(G)$ of a graph $G$. For a subcubic tree $T$ of order $n$, we show $γ_{e,f}^*(T)=\frac{n+2}{6}$ and $γ_e(T…

For a sequence $d$ of non-negative integers, let ${\cal F}(d)$ be the set of all forests whose degree sequence is $d$. We present closed formulas for $γ_{\max}^{\cal F}(d)=\max\{ γ(F):F\in {\cal F}(d)\}$ and $α_{\min}^{\cal F}(d)=\min\{ α(F):F\in {\cal F}(d)\}$ where $γ(F)$ and $α(F)$ are the domination number and the independence number of a forest $F$, respectively.
The \emph{domination subdivision number} sd$(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the minimum number of edges that must be subdivided (where an edge can be subdivided at most once) in order to increase the domination number of $G$. It has been shown \cite{vel} that sd$(T)\leq 3$ for any tree $T$. We prove that the decision problem of the domination subdivision number is NP-complete even for bipartite graphs. For this reason we define the \emph{domination multisubdivision number} of a nonempty graph $G$ as a minimum positive integer $k$ such that there exists an edge which must be subdivided $k$ times to incr…
The orientable domination number, ${\rm DOM}(G)$, of a graph $G$ is the largest domination number over all orientations of $G$. In this paper, ${\rm DOM}$ is studied on different product graphs and related graph operations. The orientable domination number of arbitrary corona products is determined, while sharp lower and upper bounds are proved for Cartesian and lexicographic products. A result of Chartrand et al. from 1996 is extended by establishing the values of ${\rm DOM}(K_{n_1,n_2,n_3})$ for arbitrary positive integers $n_1,n_2$ and $n_3$. While considering the orientable domination numb…
A set $S$ of vertices in a graph $G$ is a dominating set if every vertex of $G$ is in $S$ or is adjacent to a vertex in $S$. If, in addition, $S$ is an independent set, then $S$ is an independent dominating set. The domination number $γ(G)$ of $G$ is the minimum cardinality of a dominating set in $G$, while the independent domination number $i(G)$ of $G$ is the minimum cardinality of an independent dominating set in $G$. We prove that for all integers $k \geq 3$ it holds that if $G$ is a connected $k$-regular graph, then $\frac{i(G)}{γ(G)} \leq \frac{k}{2}$, with equality if and only if $G = K…
In this paper, an upper bound for the perfect Italian domination number of the cartesian product of any two graphs is obtained and the exact value of this parameter for cartesian product of some special graphs are obtained. We have also proved that for any two positive integers $a$, $b$ there exists a graph $G$ and an induced subgraph $H$ of $G$ such that $γ_I^p(G) = a$ and $γ_I^p(H) = b$. Relationship of the perfect Italian domination number with the Roman domination number and the perfect domination number of a graph $G$ are obtained and the corresponding realization problems are also solved…
The domination number of a graph $G = (V,E)$ is the minimum cardinality of any subset $S \subset V$ such that every vertex in $V$ is in $S$ or adjacent to an element of $S$. Finding the domination numbers of $m$ by $n$ grids was an open problem for nearly 30 years and was finally solved in 2011 by Goncalves, Pinlou, Rao, and Thomassé. Many variants of domination number on graphs have been defined and studied, but exact values have not yet been obtained for grids. We will define a family of domination theories parameterized by pairs of positive integers $(t,r)$ where $1 \leq r \leq t$ which gen…
Let $p$ be a positive integer and $G=(V,E)$ be a simple graph. A subset $D\subseteq V$ is a $p$-dominating set if each vertex not in $D$ has at least $p$ neighbors in $D$. The $p$-domination number $\g_p(G)$ is the minimum cardinality among all $p$-dominating sets of $G$. The $p$-bondage number $b_p(G)$ is the cardinality of a smallest set of edges whose removal from $G$ results in a graph with a $p$-domination number greater than the $p$-domination number of $G$. In this note we determine the 2-domination number $\g_2$ and 2-bondage number $b_2$ for the grid graphs $G_{m,n}=P_m\times P_n$ for…
Let $k$ be a positive integer and let $G$ be a graph with vertex set $V(G)$. A subset $D \subseteq V(G)$ is a $k$-dominating set if every vertex outside $D$ is adjacent to at least $k$ vertices in $D$. The $k$-domination number $γ_k(G)$ is the minimum cardinality of a $k$-dominating set in $G$. For any graph $G$, we know that $γ_k(G) \geq γ(G)+k-2$ where $ Δ(G)\geq k\geq 2$ and this bound is sharp for every $k\geq 2$. In this paper, we characterize bipartite graphs satisfying the equality for $k\geq 3$ and present a necessary and sufficient condition for a bipartite graph to satisfy the equali…
The distinguishing number (index) $D(G)$ ($D'(G)$) of a graph $G$ is the least integer $d$ such that $G$ has an vertex labeling (edge labeling) with $d$ labels that is preserved only by a trivial automorphism. A set $S$ of vertices in $G$ is a dominating set of $G$ if every vertex of $V(G)\setminus S$ is adjacent to some vertex in $S$. The minimum cardinality of a dominating set of $G$ is the domination number of $G$ and denoted by $γ(G)$. In this paper, we obtain some upper bounds for the distinguishing number and the distinguishing index of a graph based on its domination number.
The unitary Cayley graph of $\mathbb{Z} /n \mathbb{Z}$, denoted $X_{\mathbb{Z} / n \mathbb{Z}}$, has vertices $0,1, \dots, n-1$ with $x$ adjacent to $y$ if $x-y$ is relatively prime to $n$. We present results on the tightness of the known inequality $γ(X_{\mathbb{Z} / n \mathbb{Z}})\leq γ_t(X_{\mathbb{Z} / n \mathbb{Z}})\leq g(n)$, where $γ$ and $γ_t$ denote the domination number and total domination number, respectively, and $g$ is the arithmetic function known as Jacobsthal's function. In particular, we construct integers $n$ with arbitrarily many distinct prime factors such that $γ(X_{\math…
The study of power domination in graphs arises from the problem of placing a minimum number of measurement devices in an electrical network while monitoring the entire network. A power dominating set of a graph is a set of vertices from which every vertex in the graph can be observed, following a set of rules for power system monitoring. In this paper, we study the problem of finding a minimum power dominating set which is connected; the cardinality of such a set is called the connected power domination number of the graph. We show that the connected power domination number of a graph is NP-ha…
For an integer $k \ge 1$, a (distance) $k$-dominating set of a connected graph $G$ is a set $S$ of vertices of $G$ such that every vertex of $V(G) \setminus S$ is at distance at most~$k$ from some vertex of $S$. The $k$-domination number, $γ_k(G)$, of $G$ is the minimum cardinality of a $k$-dominating set of $G$. In this paper, we establish lower bounds on the $k$-domination number of a graph in terms of its diameter, radius and girth. We prove that for connected graphs $G$ and $H$, $γ_k(G \times H) \ge γ_k(G) + γ_k(H) -1$, where $G \times H$ denotes the direct product of $G$ and $H$.
A dominating set in a graph $G$ is a set $S$ of vertices such that every vertex that does not belong to $S$ is adjacent to a vertex in $S$. The domination number $γ(G)$ of $G$ is the minimum cardinality of a dominating set of $G$. The common independence number $α_c(G)$ of $G$ is the greatest integer $r$ such that every vertex of $G$ belongs to some independent set of cardinality at least~$r$. The common independence number is squeezed between the independent domination number $i(G)$ and the independence number $α(G)$ of $G$, that is, $γ(G) \le i(G) \le α_c(G) \le α(G)$. A graph $G$ is dominat…
Let $G=(V,E)$ be a simple graph. For any integer $k\geq 1$, a subset of $V$ is called a $k$-tuple total dominating set of $G$ if every vertex in $V$ has at least $k$ neighbors in the set. The minimum cardinality of a minimal $k$-tuple total dominating set of $G$ is called the $k$-tuple total domination number of $G$. In this paper, we introduce the concept of upper $k$-tuple total domination number of $G$ as the maximum cardinality of a minimal $k$-tuple total dominating set of $G$, and study the problem of finding a minimal $k$-tuple total dominating set of maximum cardinality on several clas…
We show there is an uncountable number of parallel total perfect codes in the integer lattice graph $Λ$ of $\R^2$. In contrast, there is just one 1-perfect code in $Λ$ and one total perfect code in $Λ$ restricting to total perfect codes of rectangular grid graphs (yielding an asymmetric, Penrose, tiling of the plane). We characterize all cycle products $C_m\times C_n$ with parallel total perfect codes, and the $d$-perfect and total perfect code partitions of $Λ$ and $C_m\times C_n$, the former having as quotient graph the undirected Cayley graphs of $\Z_{2d^2+2d+1}$ with generator set $\{1,2d^…
A set $S$ of vertices in $G$ is a semitotal dominating set of $G$ if it is a dominating set of $G$ and every vertex in $S$ is within distance $2$ of another vertex of $S$. The \emph{semitotal domination number}, $γ_{t2}(G)$, is the minimum cardinality of a semitotal dominating set of $G$. The \emph{semitotal domination multisubdivision number} of a graph $G$, $msd_{γ_{t2}}(G)$, is the minimum positive integer $k$ such that there exists an edge which must be subdivided $k$ times to increase the semitotal domination number of $G$. In this paper, we show that $msd_{γ_{t2}}(G)\leq 3$ for any graph…
Let $G$ be a simple graph of order $n$. The {\em domination polynomial} of $G$ is the polynomial ${D(G, x)=\sum_{i=0}^{n} d(G,i) x^{i}}$, where $d(G,i)$ is the number of dominating sets of $G$ of size $i$. Let $n$ be any positive integer and $F_n$ be the Friendship graph with $2n + 1$ vertices and $3n$ edges, formed by the join of $K_{1}$ with $nK_{2}$. We study the domination polynomials of this family of graphs, and in particular examine the domination roots of the family, and find the limiting curve for the roots. We also show that for every $n\geq 2$, $F_n$ is not $\mathcal{D}$-unique, tha…
