We give lower and upper bounds on both the Lyapunov exponent and generalised Lyapunov exponents for the random product of positive and negative shear matrices. These types of random products arise in applications such as fluid stirring devices. The bounds, obtained by considering invariant cones in tangent space, give excellent accuracy compared to standard and general bounds, and are increasingly accurate with increasing shear. Bounds on generalised exponents are useful for testing numerical methods, since these exponents are difficult to compute in practice.

Here, we propose the Lyapunov pair, which is based on the generalized Lyapunov exponent, as a unified characterization of non-exponential and exponential dynamical instabilities in one-dimensional maps. Chaotic dynamics with sensitive dependence on initial conditions may result in exponential decay of correlation functions. We show that for one-dimensional interval maps the corresponding quantities, that is, Lyapunov exponents and exponential decay rates are related. For piecewise linear expanding Markov maps observed via piecewise analytic functions we provide explicit bounds of the decay rate in terms of the Lyapunov exponent. In addition, we comment on similar relations for general piecewise smooth expanding maps.

In this paper, two types of Lyapunov exponents: random Lyapunov exponents and directional Lyapunov exponents, and the corresponding entropies: random entropy and directional entropy, are considered for smooth $\mathbb{Z}^k$-actions. The close relation among these quantities are investigated and the formulas of them are given via the Lyapunov exponents of the generators.

In this work we study relations between regularity of invariant foliations and Lyapunov exponents of partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms. We suggest a new regularity condition for foliations in terms of desintegration of Lebesgue measure which can be considered as a criterium for rigidity of Lyapunov exponents.

In this article, we consider the ergodic optimization of the top Lyapunov exponent. We prove that there is a unique maximising measure of top Lyapunov expoent for typical matrix cocyles. By using the results we obtain, we prove that in any non-uniquely ergodic minimal dynamical system, the Lyapunov-irregular points are typical for typical matrix cocyles.
We consider locally minimizing measures for the conservative twist maps of the $d$-dimensional annulus or for the Tonelli Hamiltonian flows defined on a cotangent bundle $T^*M$. For weakly hyperbolic such measures (i.e. measures with no zero Lyapunov exponents), we prove that the mean distance/angle between the stable and the unstable Oseledet's bundles gives an upper bound of the sum of the positive Lyapunov exponents and a lower bound of the smallest positive Lyapunov exponent. We prove the Hölder continuity of the Lyapunov exponent for quasi-periodic Schrödinger cocycles with a $C^2$ cos-type potential and any fixed Liouvillean frequency, provided the coupling constant is sufficiently large. In this paper, we study the existence of $n$-dimensional linear stochastic differential equations (SDEs) such that the sign of Lyapunov exponents is changed under an exponentially decaying perturbation. For any polynomial map with a single critical point, we prove that its lower Lyapunov exponent at the critical value is negative if and only if the map has an attracting cycle. Similar statement holds for the exponential maps and some other complex dynamical systems. We prove further that for the unicritical polynomials with positive area Julia sets almost every point of the Julia set has zero Lyapunov exponent. Part of this statement generalizes as follows: every point with positive upper Lyapunov exponent in the Julia set of an arbitrary polynomial is not a Lebegue density point.

We survey a collection of recent results on center Lyapunov exponents of partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms. We explain several ideas in simplified setups and formulate the general versions of results. We also pose some open questions.
We show that linear analytic cocycles where all Lyapunov exponents are negative infinite are nilpotent. For such one-frequency cocycles we show that they can be analytically conjugated to an upper triangular cocycle or a Jordan normal form. As a consequence, an arbitrarily small analytic perturbation leads to distinct Lyapunov exponents. We study strange non-chaotic attractors in a class of quasiperiodically forced monotone interval maps known as pinched skew products. We prove that the probability of positive time-N Lyapunov exponents, with respect to the unique physical measure on the attractor, decays exponentially as N goes to infinity. The motivation for this work comes from the study of finite-time Lyapunov exponents as possible early-warning signals of critical transitions in the context of forced dynamics.
