We apply the complex Langevin (CL) method to a chiral random matrix theory (ChRMT) at non-zero chemical potential and study the nearest neighbor spacing (NNS) distribution of the Dirac eigenvalues. The NNS distribution is extracted using an unfolding procedure for the Dirac eigenvalues obtained in the CL method. For large quark mass, we find that the NNS distribution obeys the Ginibre ensemble as expected. For small quark mass, the NNS distribution follows the Wigner surmise for correct convergence case, while it follows the Ginibre ensemble for wrong convergence case. The Wigner surmise is physically reasonable from the chemical potential independence of the ChRMT. The Ginibre ensemble is known to be favored in a phase quenched QCD at finite chemical potential. Our result suggests a possibility that the originally universal behavior of the NNS distribution is preserved even in the CL method for correct convergence case.
We show that the spectrum of the Dirac operator in complex Langevin simulations of QCD at non-zero chemical potential must behave in a way which is radically different from the one in simulations with ordinary non-complexified gauge fields: At low temperatures the small eigenvalues of the Dirac operator must be inside the quark mass for chemical potentials as large as a third of the nucleon mass. In particular, in the chiral limit the Dirac eigenvalues of complex Langevin simulations must accumulate at the origin.
In application of the complex Langevin method to QCD at high density and low temperature, the singular-drift problem occurs due to the appearance of near-zero eigenvalues of the Dirac operator. In order to avoid this problem, we proposed to deform the Dirac operator in such a way that the near-zero eigenvalues do not appear and to extrapolate the deformation parameter to zero from the available data points. Here we test three different types of deformation in a simple large-$N$ matrix model, which undergoes an SSB due to the phase of the fermion determinant, and compare them to see the consist…
It is popular to discuss low energy physics in lattice gauge theory in terms of the small eigenvalues of the lattice Dirac operator. I play with some ensuing pitfalls in the interpretation of these eigenvalue spectra.
In the epsilon-regime of lattice QCD one can get an accurate measurement of the pion decay constant F_pi by monitoring how just one single Dirac operator eigenvalue splits into two when subjected to two different external vector sources. Because we choose imaginary chemical potentials our Dirac eigenvalues remain real. Based on the relevant chiral Random Two-Matrix Theory we derive individual eigenvalue distributions in terms of density correlations functions to leading order in the finite-volume epsilon-expansion. As a simple byproduct we also show how the associated individual Dirac eigenval…
Chiral perturbation theory for eigenvalue distributions, and equivalently random matrix theory, has recently been extended to include lattice effects for Wilson fermions. We test the predictions by comparison to eigenvalue distributions of the Hermitian Wilson-Dirac operator from pure gauge (quenched) ensembles. We show that the lattice effects are diminished when using clover improvement for the Dirac operator. We demonstrate that the leading Wilson low-energy constants associated with Wilson (clover) fermions can be determined using spectral information of the respective Dirac operator at fi…
We investigate the eigenvalue spectrum of the staggered Dirac matrix in full QCD with two colors and finite chemical potential. Along the strong-coupling axis up to the temperature phase transition, the low-lying Dirac spectrum is well described by random matrix theory (RMT) and exhibits universal behavior. The situation is discussed in the chirally symmetric phase and no universality is seen for the microscopic spectral density.
The spectral flow of the low-lying eigenvalues of the improved and unimproved Wilson-Dirac operator is studied on instanton-like configurations and on thermalized quenched configurations at various $β$-values and lattice sizes. We also investigate the space-time localisation and chirality of the corresponding eigenvectors.
Aiming at the link between confinement and chiral symmetry the Polyakov loop represented as a spectral sum of eigenvalues of the Dirac operator was subject of recent studies. We analyze the volume dependence as well as the continuum behavior of this quantity for quenched QCD using staggered fermions. Furthermore, we present first results using dynamical configurations.
The properties of the spectrum of the overlap Dirac operator and their relation to random matrix theory are studied. In particular, the predictions from chiral random matrix theory in topologically non-trivial gauge field sectors are tested.
In this paper, we present a method for the computation of the low-lying real eigenvalues of the Wilson-Dirac operator based on the Arnoldi algorithm. These eigenvalues contain information about several observables. We used them to calculate the sign of the fermion determinant in one-flavor QCD and the sign of the Pfaffian in N=1 super Yang-Mills theory. The method is based on polynomial transformations of the Wilson-Dirac operator, leading to considerable improvements of the computation of eigenvalues. We introduce an iterative procedure for the construction of the polynomials and demonstrate …
We compare eigenvalue correlations of the Dirac operator with a chemical potential obtained from lattice simulations of quenched QCD with analytic predictions obtained from chiral effective theories in the zero-momentum limit. By comparing the density and two-point correlation function we show that the analytic results agree with QCD at low energies. We also examine the scale (Thouless energy) up to which the zero-momentum approximation is valid.
We investigate the eigenvalue spectrum of the staggered Dirac matrix in two color QCD at finite chemical potential. The profiles of complex eigenvalues close to the origin are compared to a complex generalization of the chiral Gaussian Symplectic Ensemble, confirming its predictions for weak and strong non-Hermiticity. They differ from the QCD symmetry class with three colors by a level repulsion from both the real and imaginary axis.
We derive an analytical expression for the distribution of the k-th smallest Dirac eigenvalue in QCD with imaginary isospin chemical potential in the Dirac operator. Because of its dependence on the pion decay constant F through the chemical potential in the epsilon-regime of chiral perturbation theory this can be used for lattice determinations of that low-energy constant. On the technical side we use a chiral Random-Two Matrix Theory, where we express the k-th eigenvalue distribution through the joint probability of the ordered k smallest eigenvalues. The latter can be computed exactly for f…
An exploratory study of the low-lying eigenvalues of the Wilson-Dirac operator and their corresonding eigenvectors is presented. Results for the eigenvalues from quenched and unquenched simulations are discussed. The eigenvectors are studied with respect to their localization properties in the quenched approximation for the cases of SU(2) and SU(3).
Recently, random matrix theory predictions for the distribution of low-lying Dirac operator eigenvalues have been extended to include lattice effects for both staggered and Wilson fermions. We computed low-lying eigenvalues for the Hermitian Wilson-Dirac operator and for improved staggered fermions on several quenched ensembles with size $\approx 1.5$ fm. Comparisons to the expectations from RMT with lattice effects included are made. Wilson RMT describes our Wilson data nicely. For improved staggered fermions we find strong indications that taste breaking effects on the low-lying spectrum dis…
We compute by Monte Carlo methods the individual distributions of the $k$th smallest Dirac operator eigenvalues in QCD, and compare them with recent analytical predictions. We do this for both massless and massive quarks in an SU(3) gauge theory with staggered fermions. Very precise agreement is found in all cases. As a simple by-product we also extract the microscopic spectral density of the Dirac operator in SU(3) gauge theory with dynamical massive fermions for $N_f=1$ and 2, and obtain high-accuracy agreement with analytical expressions.
We investigate the eigenvalue spectrum of the staggered Dirac matrix in SU(3) and U(1) gauge theory as well as in full QCD with two colors and finite chemical potential. Along the strong-coupling axis up to the phase transition, the low-lying Dirac spectrum of these quantum field theories is well described by random matrix theory and exhibits universal behavior. Related results for gauge theories with minimal coupling are discussed in the chirally symmetric phase and no universality is seen for the microscopic spectral densities.
We analyze complete spectra of the lattice Dirac operator in SU(2) gauge theory and demonstrate that the distribution of low-lying eigenvalues is described by random matrix theory. We present possible practical applications of this random-matrix universality. In particular, reliable extrapolations of lattice gauge data to the thermodynamic limit are discussed.
We investigate the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the staggered Dirac operator in the vicinity of the chiral phase transition of quenched SU(3) lattice gauge theory. We consider both the global features of the spectrum and the local correlations. In the chirally symmetric phase, the local correlations in the bulk of the spectrum are still described by random matrix theory, and we investigate the dependence of the bulk Thouless energy on the simulation parameters. At and above the critical point, the properties of the low-lying Dirac eigenvalues depend on the $Z_3$-phase of the Polyakov loop. …
I observe a rough volume-dependent scaling of the low eigenvalues of a chiral Dirac operator in lattice studies of SU(3) lattice gauge theory with two flavors of color sextet fermions, in its weak-coupling phase. The mean value of the ith eigenvalue scales with the simulation volume V=L^4 as <lambda_i>L^p ~zeta_i, where zeta_i is a volume-independent constant. The exponent p is about 1.4. A possible explanation for this phenomenon is that p is the leading relevant exponent associated with the fermion mass dependence of correlation functions in a theory whose zero-mass limit is conformal.
We investigate chiral properties of the domain-wall fermion (DWF) system by using the four-dimensional hermitian Wilson-Dirac operator. We first derive a formula which connects a chiral symmetry breaking term in the five dimensional DWF Ward-Takahashi identity with the four dimensional Wilson-Dirac operator, and simplify the formula in terms of only the eigenvalues of the operator, using an ansatz for the form of the eigenvectors. For a given distribution of the eigenvalues, we then discuss the behavior of the chiral symmetry breaking term as a function of the fifth dimensional length. We fina…
The eigenvalue spectrum $ρ(λ)$ of the Dirac operator is numerically calculated in lattice QCD with 2+1 flavors of dynamical domain-wall fermions. In the high-energy regime, the discretization effects become significant. We subtract them at the leading order and then take the continuum limit with lattice data at three lattice spacings. Lattice results for the exponent $\partial\lnρ/\partial\lnλ$ are matched to continuum perturbation theory, which is known up to $O(α_s^4)$, to extract the strong coupling constant $α_s$.
We study the chirality of staggered quarks on the Dirac eigenvalue spectrum using deep learning (DL) techniques. The Kluberg-Stern method to construct staggered bilinear operators conserves continuum property such as recursion relations, uniqueness of chirality, and Ward identities, which leads to a unique and characteristic pattern (we call it "leakage pattern (LP)") in the matrix elements of the chirality operator sandwiched between two quark eigenstates of staggered Dirac operator. DL analysis gives $99.4(2)\%$ accuracy on normal gauge configurations and $0.998$ AUC (Area Under ROC Curve) f…
We present a study of the Dirac eigenvalue spectrum near the region of the QCD phase transition. This study makes use of a sequence of ensembles with temperatures from 150 MeV to 200 MeV generated with $2 + 1$ flavors of dynamical domain wall fermions (DWF) and the dislocation sup- pressing determinant ratio (DSDR) action on a $16^3\times 8$ lattice with an extent of 32 or 48 in the fifth dimension. All the simulations lie on a line of constant physics with 200 MeV pions. The DWF Dirac operator is normalized using the methods of Giusti and Luscher combined with those of Rome-Southampton collab…
The Dirac spectrum of QCD with dynamical fermions at nonzero chemical potential is characterized by three regions, a region with a constant eigenvalue density, a region where the eigenvalue density shows oscillations that grow exponentially with the volume and the remainder of the complex plane where the eigenvalue density is zero. In this paper we derive the phase diagram of the Dirac spectrum from a chiral Lagrangian. We show that the constant eigenvalue density corresponds to a pion condensed phase while the strongly oscillating region is given by a kaon condensed phase. The normal phase wi…
We analyze how individual eigenvalues of the QCD Dirac operator at nonzero quark chemical potential are distributed in the complex plane. Exact and approximate analytical results for both quenched and unquenched distributions are derived from non-Hermitian random matrix theory. When comparing these to quenched lattice QCD spectra close to the origin, excellent agreement is found for zero and nonzero topology at several values of the quark chemical potential. Our analytical results are also applicable to other physical systems in the same symmetry class.
We construct chiral perturbation theory for the gradient flow of the microscopic Dirac eigenvalues and compute the density of and correlations between the microscopic eigenvalues at zero and non-zero flow time. The results show that the repulsion of the microscopic Dirac eigenvalues from the dynamical quark mass decreases with increasing gradient flow time. Furthermore, the flow of the spectral resolvent is compared to the flow of the chiral condensate obtained from a fermionic gradient flow.
We examine the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the staggered Dirac operator on thermal ensembles created in QCD with two flavours of staggered quarks. We see that across the phase transition a gap opens in the spectrum. For finite volume lattices in the low-temperature phase the eigenvectors are extended, but generic field configurations in the high temperature phase give rise to localized eigenstates. We examine measures of the stability of such localization and find that at finite volumes localization occurs through Mott's mechanism of the formation of mobility edges. However, the band gap b…
The low-lying eigenvalues of a (sparse) hermitian matrix can be computed with controlled numerical errors by a conjugate gradient (CG) method. This CG algorithm is accelerated by alternating it with exact diagonalisations in the subspace spanned by the numerically computed eigenvectors. We study this combined algorithm in case of the Dirac operator with (dynamical) Wilson fermions in four-dimensional $\SUtwo$ gauge fields. The algorithm is numerically very stable and can be parallelized in an efficient way. On lattices of sizes $4^4-16^4$ an acceleration of the pure CG method by a factor of~$4…
We investigate a chiral property of the domain-wall fermion (DWF) system using the four-dimensional hermitian Wilson-Dirac operator $H_W$. A formula expressing the Ward-Takahashi identity quark mass $m_{5q}$ with eigenvalues of this operator is derived, which well explains the $N_5$ dependence of $m_{5q}$ observed in previous numerical simulations. We further discuss the chiral property of DWF in the large volume in terms of the spectra of $H_W$.
We compute the low-lying spectrum of the staggered Dirac operator above and below the finite temperature phase transition in both quenched QCD and in dynamical four flavor QCD. In both cases we find, in the high temperature phase, a density with close to square root behavior, $ρ(λ) \sim (λ-λ_0)^{1/2}$. In the quenched simulations we find, in addition, a volume independent tail of small eigenvalues extending down to zero. In the dynamical simulations we also find a tail, decreasing with decreasing mass, at the small end of the spectrum. However, the tail falls off quite quickly and does not see…
The spectrum of low-lying eigenvalues of overlap Dirac operator in quenched SU(2) lattice gauge theory with tadpole-improved Symanzik action is studied at finite temperatures in the vicinity of the confinement-deconfinement phase transition defined by the expectation value of the Polyakov line. The value of the chiral condensate obtained from the Banks-Casher relation is found to drop down rapidly at T = Tc, though not going to zero. At Tc' = 1.5 Tc = 480 MeV the chiral condensate decreases rapidly one again and becomes either very small or zero. At T < Tc the distributions of small eigenvalue…
For QCD at non-zero chemical potential $μ$, the Dirac eigenvalues are scattered in the complex plane. We define a notion of ordering for individual eigenvalues in this case and derive the distributions of individual eigenvalues from random matrix theory (RMT). We distinguish two cases depending on the parameter $α=μ^2 F^2 V$, where $V$ is the volume and $F$ is the familiar low-energy constant of chiral perturbation theory. For small $α$, we use a Fredholm determinant expansion and observe that already the first few terms give an excellent approximation. For large $α$, all spectral correlations…
The low-lying spectrum of the Dirac operator is predicted to be universal, within three classes, depending on symmetry properties specified according to random matrix theory. The three universal classes are the orthogonal, unitary and symplectic ensemble. Lattice gauge theory with staggered fermions has verified two of the cases so far, unitary and symplectic, with staggered fermions in the fundamental representation of SU(3) and SU(2). We verify the missing case here, namely orthogonal, with staggered fermions in the adjoint representation of SU(N_c), N_c=2, 3.
We study a random matrix model for QCD at finite density via complex Langevin dynamics. This model has a phase transition to a phase with nonzero baryon density. We study the convergence of the algorithm as a function of the quark mass and the chemical potential and focus on two main observables: the baryon density and the chiral condensate. For simulations close to the chiral limit, the algorithm has wrong convergence properties when the quark mass is in the spectral domain of the Dirac operator. A possible solution of this problem is discussed.
We report on the behavior of the eigenvalue distribution of the Dirac operator in (2+1)-flavor QCD at finite temperature, using the HISQ action. We calculate the eigenvalue density at several values of the temperature close to the pseudocritical temperature. For this study we use gauge field configurations generated on lattices of size $32^3 \times 8$ with two light quark masses corresponding to pion masses of about 160 and 115 MeV. We find that the eigenvalue density below $T_c$ receives large contributions from near-zero modes which become smaller as the temperature increases or the light qu…
Chiral properties of QCD formulated with the domain-wall fermion (DWQCD) are studied using the anomalous quark mass m_{5q} and the spectrum of the 4-dimensional Wilson-Dirac operator. Numerical simulations are made with the standard plaquette gauge action and a renormalization-group improved gauge action. Results are reported on the density of zero eigenvalue obtained with the accumulation method, and a comparison is made with the results for m_{5q}.
We study the Stephanov model, which is an RMT model for QCD at finite density, using the Complex Langevin algorithm. Naive implementation of the algorithm shows convergence towards the phase quenched or quenched theory rather than to intended theory with dynamical quarks. A detailed analysis of this issue and a potential resolution of the failure of this algorithm are discussed. We study the effect of gauge cooling on the Dirac eigenvalue distribution and time evolution of the norm for various cooling norms, which were specifically designed to remove the pathologies of the complex Langevin evo…
We classify SU(3) gauge field configurations in different topological sectors by the smearing technique. In each sector we compute the distribution of low lying eigenvalues of the staggered Dirac operator. In all sectors we find perfect agreement with the predictions for the sector of topological charge zero. The smallest Dirac operator eigenvalues of staggered fermions at presently realistic lattice couplings are thus insensitive to gauge field topology. On the smeared configurations, $4ν$ eigenvalues go to zero in agreement with the index theorem.
Recently, the complex Langevin method has been applied successfully to finite density QCD either in the deconfinement phase or in the heavy dense limit with the aid of a new technique called the gauge cooling. In the confinement phase with light quarks, however, convergence to wrong limits occurs due to the singularity in the drift term caused by small eigenvalues of the Dirac operator including the mass term. We propose that this singular-drift problem should also be overcome by the gauge cooling with different criteria for choosing the complexified gauge transformation. The idea is tested in…
The distribution of individual Dirac eigenvalues is derived by relating them to the density and higher eigenvalue correlation functions. The relations are general and hold for any gauge theory coupled to fermions under certain conditions which are stated. As a special case, we give examples of the lowest-lying eigenvalue distributions for QCD-like gauge theories without making use of earlier results based on the relation to Random Matrix Theory.
Based on the exact relationship to Random Matrix Theory, we derive the probability distribution of the k-th smallest Dirac operator eigenvalue in the microscopic finite-volume scaling regime of QCD and related gauge theories.
We demonstrate analytically that complex Langevin dynamics can solve the sign problem in one-dimensional QCD in the thermodynamic limit. In particular, it is shown that the contributions from the complex and highly oscillating spectral density of the Dirac operator to the chiral condensate are taken into account correctly. We find an infinite number of classical fixed points of the Langevin flow in the thermodynamic limit. The correct solution originates from a continuum of degenerate distributions in the complexified space.
We find the lattice spacing dependence of the eigenvalue density of the non-Hermitian Wilson Dirac operator in the $ε$-domain. The starting point is the joint probability density of the corresponding random matrix theory. In addition to the density of the complex eigenvalues we also obtain the density of the real eigenvalues separately for positive and negative chiralities as well as an explicit analytical expression for the number of additional real modes.
We present a detailed study of the interplay between chiral symmetry and spectral properties of the Dirac operator in lattice gauge theories. We consider, in the framework of the Schwinger model, the fixed point action and a fermion action recently proposed by Neuberger. Both actions show the remnant of chiral symmetry on the lattice as formulated in the Ginsparg-Wilson relation. We check this issue for practical implementations, also evaluating the fermion condensate in a finite volume by a subtraction procedure. Moreover, we investigate the distribution of the eigenvalues of a properly defin…
We have calculated complete spectra of the staggered Dirac operator on the lattice in quenched SU(3) gauge theory for β= 5.4 and various lattice sizes. The microscopic spectral density, the distribution of the smallest eigenvalue, and the two-point spectral correlation function are analyzed. We find the expected agreement of the lattice data with universal predictions of the chiral unitary ensemble of random matrix theory up to a certain energy scale, the Thouless energy. The deviations from the universal predictions are determined using the disconnected scalar susceptibility. We find that the…
We derive the distributions of individual eigenvalues for the Hermitian Wilson Dirac Operator D5 as well as for real eigenvalues of the Wilson Dirac Operator DW. The framework we provide is valid in the epsilon regime of chiral perturbation theory for any number of flavours Nf and for non-zero low energy constants W6, W7, W8. It is given as a perturbative expansion in terms of the k-point spectral density correlation functions and integrals thereof, which in some cases reduces to a Fredholm Pfaffian. For the real eigenvalues of DW at fixed chirality nu this expansion truncates after at most nu…
We reinvestigate constraints on the eigenvalue density of the Dirac operator in the chiral symmetric phase of 2 flavor QCD at finite temperature, employing the overlap Dirac operator with the exact chiral symmetry at finite lattice spacings to avoid possible ultra-violet(UV) divergences. Studying multi-point correlation functions in various channels in the thermodynamical limit, we obtain stronger constraints than those found in the previous studies that not only the eigenvalue density at the origin but also its first and second derivatives vanish in the chiral limit of 2 flavor QCD. In additi…
We derive an analytical gauge-invariant relation between the Polyakov loop $\langle L_P \rangle$ and the Dirac eigenvalues $λ_n$ in QCD, i.e., $\langle L_P \rangle \propto \sum_n λ_n^{N_t -1} \langle n|\hat U_4|n \rangle$, on a temporally odd-number lattice, where the temporal lattice size $N_t$ is odd. Here, we use an ordinary square lattice with the normal (nontwisted) periodic boundary condition for link-variables in the temporal direction. This relation is a Dirac spectral representation of the Polyakov loop in terms of Dirac eigenmodes $|n\rangle$. Because of the factor $λ_n^{N_t -1}$ in …
Based on the exact relationship to random matrix theory, we present an alternative method of evaluating the probability distribution of the k-th smallest Dirac eigenvalue in the epsilon-regime of QCD and QCD-like theories. By utilizing the Nystrom-type discretization of Fredholm determinants and Pfaffians, practical trouble of evaluating multiple integrations is circumvented and technical restrictions on the parities of the number of flavors and of the topological charge present in our previous treatment for beta=1 and 4 cases [Phys. Rev. D 63, 045012 (2001)] are partly lifted. This method is …
We reconsider constraints on the eigenvalue density of the Dirac operator in the chiral symmetric phase of 2 flavor QCD at finite temperature. To avoid possible ultra-violet(UV) divergences, we work on a lattice, employing the overlap Dirac operator, which ensures the exact "chiral" symmetry at finite lattice spacings. Studying multi-point correlation functions in various channels and taking their thermodynamical limit (and then taking the chiral limit), we obtain stronger constraints than those found in the previous studies: both the eigenvalue density at the origin and its first and second d…
We utilize the eigenvalue filtering technique combined with the stochastic estimate of the mode number to determine the eigenvalue spectrum. Simulations of (2 + 1)-flavor QCD are performed using the Highly Improved Staggered Quarks (HISQ/tree) action on $N_τ$ = 8 lattices with aspect ratios $N_σ/N_τ$ ranging from 5 to 7. The strange quark mass is fixed to its physical value $m_{s}^{\rm phy}$, and the light quark masses $m_{l}$ are varied from $m_{s}^{\rm phy}/40$ to $m_{s}^{\rm phy}/160$ which correspond to pion mass $m_π$ ranging from 110 MeV to 55 MeV in the continuum limit. We compute the c…
We analyze the smallest Dirac eigenvalues by formulating an effective theory for the QCD Dirac spectrum. We find that in a domain where the kinetic term of the effective theory can be ignored, the Dirac eigenvalues are distributed according to a Random Matrix Theory with the global symmetries of the QCD partition function. The kinetic term provides information on the slope of the average spectral density of the Dirac operator. In the second half of this lecture we interpret quenched QCD Dirac spectra at nonzero chemical potential (with eigenvalues scattered in the complex plane) in terms of an…
We represent Polyakov loops and their correlators as spectral sums of eigenvalues and eigenmodes of the lattice Dirac operator. The deconfinement transition of pure gauge theory is characterized as a change in the response of moments of eigenvalues to varying the boundary conditions of the Dirac operator. We argue that the potential between static quarks is linked to spatial correlations of Dirac eigenvectors.
We investigate the Dirac eigenvalue spectrum ($ρ(λ,m_l)$) to study the microscopic origin of axial anomaly in high temperature phase of QCD. We propose novel relations between the derivatives ($\partial^n ρ(λ,m_l)/\partial m_l^n$) of the Dirac eigenvalue spectrum with respect to the quark mass ($m_l$) and the $(n+1)$-point correlations among the eigenvalues ($λ$) of the massless Dirac operator. Based on these relations, we present lattice QCD results for $\partial^n ρ(λ,m_l)/\partial m_l^n$ ($n=1, 2, 3$) with $m_l$ corresponding to pion masses $m_π=160-55$ MeV, and at a temperature of about 1.…
A chiral random matrix model with complex eigenvalues is solved as an effective model for QCD with non-vanishing chemical potential. We derive new matrix model correlation functions which predict the local fluctuations of complex Dirac operator eigenvalues at zero virtuality. The parameter which measures the non-Hermiticity of the Dirac matrix is identified with the chemical potential. In the phase with broken chiral symmetry all spectral correlations of the Dirac eigenvalues are calculated as functions of quark flavors and chemical potential. The derivation uses the orthogonality of the Lague…
We introduce novel relations between the derivatives [$\partial^{n}ρ(λ, m_{l})/\partial m_{l}^n$] of the Dirac eigenvalue spectrum [$ρ(λ, m_{l})$] with respect to the light sea quark mass ($m_{l}$) and the $(n+1)$-point correlations among the eigenvalues ($λ$) of the massless Dirac operator. Using these relations we present lattice QCD results for $\partial^{n}ρ(λ, m_{l})/\partial m_{l}^n$ ($n=1, 2, 3$) for $m_{l}$ corresponding to pion masses $m_π=160-55$ MeV, and at a temperature of about 1.6 times the chiral phase transition temperature. Calculations were carried out using (2+1) flavors of …
We study discretization effects of the Wilson and staggered Dirac operator with $N_{\rm c}>2$ using chiral random matrix theory (chRMT). We obtain analytical results for the joint probability density of Wilson-chRMT in terms of a determinantal expression over complex pairs of eigenvalues, and real eigenvalues corresponding to eigenvectors of positive or negative chirality as well as for the eigenvalue densities. The explicit dependence on the lattice spacing can be readily read off from our results which are compared to numerical simulations of Wilson-chRMT. For the staggered Dirac operator we…
