Given a semiprime Goldie module $M$ projective in $σ[M]$ we study decompositions on its $M$-injective hull $\hat{M}$ in terms of the minimal prime in $M$ submodules. With this, we characterize the semiprime Goldie modules in $\mathbb{Z}$-Mod and make a decomposition of the endomorphism ring of $\hat{M}$. Also, we investigate the relations among semiprime Goldie modules, $QI$-modules and co-semisimple modules extending results on left $QI$-rings and $V$-rings.
For an $R$-module $M$, projective in $σ[M]$ and satisfying ascending chain condition (ACC) on left annihilators, we introduce the concept of Goldie module. We also use the concept of semiprime module defined by Raggi et. al. in \cite{S} to give necessary and sufficient conditions for an $R$-module $M$, to be a semiprime Goldie module. This theorem is a generalization of Goldie's theorem for semiprime left Goldie rings. Moreover, we prove that $M$ is a semiprime (prime) Goldie module if and only if the ring $S=End_R(M)$ is a semiprime (prime) right Goldie ring. Also, we study the case when $M$ …
A module M is called principally Goldie*-lifting if for every proper cyclic submodule X of M, there is a direct summand D of M such that $Xβ^*D$. In this paper, we focus on principally Goldie*-lifting modules as generalizations of lifting modules. Various properties of these modules are given.
Let $R$ be an arbitrary ring with identity and $M$ a right $R$-module with $S=$ End$_R(M)$. Let $Z_2(M)$ be the second singular submodule of $M$. In this paper, we define Goldie Rickart modules by utilizing the endomorphisms of a module. The module $M$ is called Goldie Rickart if for any $f\in S$, $f^{-1}(Z_2(M))$ is a direct summand of $M$. We provide several characterizations of Goldie Rickart modules and study their properties. Also we present that semisimple rings and right $Σ$-$t$-extending rings admit some characterizations in terms of Goldie Rickart modules.
With the notion of prime submodule defined by F. Raggi et.al. we prove that the intersection of all prime submodules of a Goldie module $M$, is a nilpotent submodule provided that $M$ is retractable and $M^{(Λ)}$-projective for every index set $Λ$. This extends the well known fact that in a left Goldie ring, the prime radical is nilpotent.
We find a bound for the Goldie dimension of hereditary modules in terms of the cardinality of the generator sets of its quasi-injective hull. Several consequences are deduced. In particular, it is shown that every right hereditary module with countably generated quasi-injective hull is noetherian. Or that every right hereditary ring with finitely generated injective hull is artinian, thus answering a long standing open question posed by Dung, Gomez Pardo and Wisbauer.
Using the concepts of prime module, semiprime module and the concept of ascending chain condition (ACC) on annihilators for an $R$-module $M$ . We prove that if \ $M$ is semiprime \ and projective in $σ\left[ M\right] $, such that $M$ satisfies ACC on annihilators, then $M$ has finitely many minimal prime submodules. Moreover if each submodule $N\subseteq M$ contains a uniform submodule, we prove that there is a bijective correspondence between a complete set of representatives of isomorphism classes of indecomposable non $M$-singular injective modules in $σ\left[ M\right] $ and the set of min…
Let $R$ be an associative ring with identity. A unital right $R$-module $M$ is called strongly finite dimensional if Sup$\{{\rm G.dim} (M/N) | N\leq M\} < +\infty$. Properties of strongly finite dimensional modules are explored. It is also proved that: (1)If $R$ is left $F$-injective and strongly right finite dimensional, then $R$ is left finite dimensional. (2) If $R$ is right $F$-injective, then $R$ is right finite dimensional if and only if $R$ is semilocal. Thus the Faith-Menal conjecture is true if $R$ is strongly right finite dimensional. Some known results are obtained as corollaries.
It is proved that localizations of injective $R$-modules of finite Goldie dimension are injective if $R$ is an arithmetical ring satisfying the following condition: for every maximal ideal $P$, $R_P$ is either coherent or not semicoherent. If, in addition, each finitely generated $R$-module has finite Goldie dimension, then localizations of finitely injective $R$-modules are finitely injective too. Moreover, if $R$ is a Prüfer domain of finite character, localizations of injective $R$-modules are injective.

$\textbf{Theorem 1.2.}$ For a ring $A$, the following conditions are equivalent. $\textbf{1)}$ $A$ is a right automorphism-invariant right non-singular ring. $\textbf{2)}$ $A$ is a right automorphism-invariant regular ring. $\textbf{3)}$ $A=S\times T$, where $S$ is a right injective regular ring and $T$ is a strongly regular ring which contains all invertible elements of its maximal right ring of quotients. $\textbf{Theorem 1.5.}$ For a ring $A$ with right Goldie radical $G(A_A)$, the following conditions are equivalent. $\textbf{1)}$ $A/G(A_A)$ is a semiprime right Goldie ring. $\textbf{2)}$ …
A torsion theory is called differential (higher differential) if a derivation (higher derivation) can be extended from any module to the module of quotients corresponding to the torsion theory. We study conditions equivalent to higher differentiability of a torsion theory. It is known that the Lambek, Goldie and any perfect torsion theories are differential. We show that these classes of torsion theories are higher differential as well. Then, we study conditions under which a higher derivation extended to a right module of quotients extends also to a right module of quotients with respect to a…
Every automorphism-invariant right non-singular $A$-module is injective if and only if the factor ring of the ring $A$ with respect to its right Goldie radical is a right strongly semiprime ring.
It is shown that a ring is left semihereditary if and only each homomorphic image of its injective hull as left module is FP-injective. It is also proven that a commutative ring R is reduced and arithmetical if and only if E/U if FP-injective for any FP-injective R-module E and for any submodule U of finite Goldie dimension. A characterization of commutative rings for which each module of finite Goldie dimension is of injective dimension at most one is given. Let R be a chain ring and Z its subset of zerodivisors. It is proven that E/U is FP-injective for each FP-injective R-module E and each …
Dimensions like Gelfand, Krull, Goldie have an intrinsic role in the study of theory of rings and modules. They provide useful technical tools for studying their structure. In this paper we define one of the dimensions called couniserial dimension that measures how close a ring or module is to being uniform. Despite their different objectives, it turns out that there are certain common properties between the couniserial dimension and Krull dimension like each module having such a dimension contains a uniform submodule and has finite uniform dimension, among others. Like all dimensions, this is…
We define and study the symmetric version of differential torsion theories. We prove that the symmetric versions of some of the existing results on derivations on right modules of quotients hold for derivations on symmetric modules of quotients. In particular, we prove that the symmetric Lambek, Goldie and perfect torsion theories are differential. We also study conditions under which a derivation on a right or symmetric module of quotients extends to a right or symmetric module of quotients with respect to a larger torsion theory. Using these results, we study extensions of ring derivations t…

We prove that every perfect torsion theory for a ring $R$ is differential (in the sense of [P. E. Bland, Differential torsion theory, Journal of Pure and Applied Algebra 204 (2006) 1 -- 8]). In this case, we construct the extension of a derivation of a right $R$-module $M$ to a derivation of the module of quotients of $M$. Then, we prove that the Lambek and Goldie torsion theories for any $R$ are differential.
It is well-known that a ring R is semiperfect if and only if R as a left (or as a right) R-module is a supplemented module. Considering weak supplements instead of supplements we show that weakly supplemented modules M are semilocal (i.e., M/Rad(M) is semisimple) and that R is a semilocal ring if and only if R as a left (or as a right) R-module is weakly supplemented. In this context the notion of finite hollow dimension (or finite dual Goldie dimension) of modules is of interest and yields a natural interpretation of the Camps-Dicks characterization of semilocal rings. Finitely generated modu…
We apply the theory of cotorsion pairs to study closure properties of classes of modules with finite projective dimension with respect to direct limit operations and to filtrations. We also prove that if the ring is an order in an $\aleph_0$-noetherian ring Q of small finitistic dimension 0, then the cotorsion pair generated by the modules of projective dimension at most one is of finite type if and only if Q has big finitistic dimension 0. This applies, for example, to semiprime Goldie rings and Cohen Macaulay noetherian commutative rings.
Many known results on finite von Neumann algebras are generalized, by purely algebraic proofs, to a certain class ${\mathcal C}$ of finite Baer *-rings. The results in this paper can also be viewed as a study of the properties of Baer *-rings in the class ${\mathcal C}$. First, we show that a finitely generated module over a ring from the class ${\mathcal C}$ splits as a direct sum of a finitely generated projective module and a certain torsion module. Then, we define the dimension of any module over a ring from ${\mathcal C}$ and prove that this dimension has all the nice properties of the di…
It is an open question whether the smash product of a semisimple Hopf algebra and a semiprime module algebra is semiprime. In this paper we show that the smash product of a commutative semiprime module algebra over a semisimple cosemisimple Hopf algebra is semiprime. In particular we show that the central $H$-invariant elements of the Martindale ring of quotients of a module algebra form a von Neumann regular and self-injective ring whenever $A$ is semiprime. For a semiprime Goldie PI $H$-module algebra $A$ with central invariants we show that $\AH$ is semiprime if and only if the $H$-action c…
It is well known that a ring $R$ is right Kasch if each simple right $R$-module embeds in a projective right $R$-module. In this paper we study the dual notion and call a ring $R$ right dual Kasch if each simple right $R$-module is a homomorphic image of an injective right $R$-module. We prove that $R$ is right dual Kasch if and only if every finitely generated projective right $R$-module is coclosed in its injective hull. Typical examples of dual Kasch rings are self-injective rings, V-rings and commutative perfect rings. Skew group rings of dual Kasch rings by finite groups are dual Kasch if…
A relationship between nilpotency and primeness in a module is investigated. Reduced modules are expressed as sums of prime modules. It is shown that presence of nilpotent module elements inhibits a module from possessing good structural properties. A general form is given of an example used in literature to distinguish: 1) completely prime modules from prime modules, 2) classical prime modules from classical completely prime modules, and 3) a module which satisfies the complete radical formula from one which is neither 2-primal nor satisfies the radical formula.
This paper gives an explicit structure theorem for the symmetric group acting on the symmetric algebra of its natural module. Let $G$ be the symmetric group on $x_1,..., x_n$ and let $d_i$ be the $i^{\text{th}}$ elementary symmetric polynomial in the $x_i$'s. We show that if we take monomial representations discussed in \cite[Section 3]{Kemper} to be the modules $V_I$, then we have an isomorphism of $kG$-modules $k[x_1,..., x_n] \cong \Oplus_{\{n\} \subseteq I \subseteq [n]} k[d_I] \otimes_k V_I$.
Let $(H,\a_H)$ be a Hom-Hopf algebra, $(A,\a_A)$ a right $H$-comodule algebra and $(C,\a_C)$ a left $H$-module coalgebra. Then we have the category $_A\mathcal{M}(H)^C$ of Hom-type Doi-Hopf modules. The aim of this paper is to make the category $_A\mathcal{M}(H)^C$ into a braided monoidal category. Our construction unifies quasitriangular and coquasitriangular Hom-Hopf algebras and Hom-Yetter-Drinfeld modules. We study tensor identities for monoidal categories of Hom-type Doi-Hopf modules. Finally we show that the category $_A\mathcal{M}(H)^C$ is isomorphic to $A\#C^*$-module category.
We give necessary and sufficient conditions for the functor that forgets the $(C, γ)$-coaction to be separable. This leads to a generalized notion of integrals. Finally, the applications of our results are considered.
We give the description of the t-structure on the derived category of regular holonomic D-modules corresponding to the trivial t-structure on the derived category of constructible sheaves via Riemann-Hilbert correspondence. We give also the condition for a decreasing sequence of families of supports to give a t-structure on the derived category of coherent O-modules.
In this note we introduce and investigate the concepts of dual entwining structures and dual entwined modules. This generalizes the concepts of dual Doi-Koppinen structures and dual Doi-Koppinen modules introduced (in the infinite case over rings) by the author is his dissertation.
In this paper, we classify additive closed symmetric monoidal structures on the category of left R-modules by using Watts' theorem. An additive closed symmetric monoidal structure is equivalent to an R-module Lambda_{A,B} equipped with two commuting right R-module structures represented by the symbols A and B, an R-module K to serve as the unit, and certain isomorphisms. We use this result to look at simple cases. We find rings R for which there are no additive closed symmetric monoidal structures on R-modules, for which there is exactly one (up to isomorphism), for which there are exactly sev…
This chapter lays out a framework for discussing (\ast)-structures on module-algebras over a Hopf (\ast)-algebra (H). We define a complex conjugation functor (V \mapsto \bar{V}), which is an involution on the module category (\hmod), and discuss its interaction with natural constructions such as direct sums, duality, Hom, and tensor products. We define (\ast)-structures first at the level of modules. We say that (V) is a (\ast)-module if there is an isomorphism (\ast : \bar{V} \to V) in (\hmod) which is involutive in an appropriate sense. Then we define (\ast)-structures on algebras in (\hmod)…
We give a characterisation of those local not necessary commutative rings, for which the category of projective modules admits a triangulation with the identity as translation functor. By "admits a triangulation" we mean that the category can be given the structure of a triangulated category that satisfies the standard set of axioms including the octahedral axiom.
A recent result by J. Šaroch and J. Šťov\'ıček asserts that there is a unique abelian model structure on the category of left $R$-modules, for any associative ring $R$ with identity, whose (trivially) cofibrant and (trivially) fibrant objects are given by the classes of Gorenstein flat (resp., flat) and cotorsion (resp., Gorenstein cotorsion) modules. In this paper, we generalise this result to a certain relativisation of Gorenstein flat modules, which we call Gorenstein $\mathcal{B}$-flat modules, where $\mathcal{B}$ is a class of right $R$-modules. Using some of the techniques considered by …
In this paper we describe how to give a particular global category of rings and modules the structure of a relaxed multi category, and we describe an algebra in this relaxed multi category such that vertex algebras appear as such algebras.
The deformation bicomplex of a module-algebra over a bialgebra is constructed. It is then applied to study algebraic deformations in which both the module structure and the algebra structure are deformed. The cases of module-coalgebras, comodule-(co)algebras, and (co)module-bialgebras are also considered.
The notions of Hom-coring, Hom-entwining structure and associated entwined Hom-module are introduced. A theorem regarding base ring extension of a Hom-coring is proven and then is used to acquire the Hom-version of Sweedler coring. Motivated by the work of T. Brzezinski, a Hom-coring associated to an entwining Hom-structure is constructed and an identification of entwined Hom-modules with Hom-comodules of this Hom-coring is shown. The dual algebra of this Hom-coring is proven to be a $ψ$-twisted convolution algebra. By a construction, it is shown that a Hom-Doi-Koppinen datum comes from a Hom-…
The notion of $\mathcal{O}$-operators on modules over Lie algebras generalize Rota-Baxter operators. They also generalize Poisson structures on Lie algebras in the presence of modules. Motivated from Poisson structures, we define gauge transformations and reductions of $\mathcal{O}$-operators. Next we consider compatible $\mathcal{O}$-operators on modules over Lie algebras. We define $\mathcal{ON}$-structures which give rise to hierarchy of compatible $\mathcal{O}$-operators. We show that a solution of the strong Maurer-Cartan equation on a twilled Lie algebra associated to an $\mathcal{O}$-op…
We consider traces on module categories over pivotal fusion categories which are compatible with the module structure. It is shown that such module traces characterise the Morita classes of special haploid symmetric Frobenius algebras. Moreover, they are unique up to a scale factor and they equip the dual category with a pivotal structure. This implies that for each pivotal structure on a fusion category over the complex numbers there exists a conjugate pivotal structure defined by the canonical module trace.
A complete list of Uq(sl2)-module algebra structures on the quantum plane is produced and the (uncountable family of) isomorphism classes of these structures are described. The composition series of representations in question are computed. The classical limits of the Uq(sl2)-module algebra structures are discussed.
