In this paper we study the family of the Lozi maps $L_{a,b} : {\mathbb R}^2 \to {\mathbb R}^2$, $L_{a,b} = (1 + y - a|x|, bx)$, and their strange attractors $Λ_{a,b}$. We introduce the set of kneading sequences for the Lozi map and prove that it determines the symbolic dynamics for that map. We also introduce two other equivalent approaches.
We explore stabilization for nonlinear systems of difference equations with modified Target-Oriented Control and a chosen equilibrium as a target, both in deterministic and stochastic settings. The influence of stochastic components in the control parameters is explored. The results are tested on the Hénon and the Lozi maps.
In the present work we revise a transformation that links generalized Lozi maps with max-type difference equations. In this view, according to the technique of topological conjugation, we relate the dynamics of a concrete Lozi map with a complete uniparametric family of max-equations, and we apply this fact to investigate the dynamics of two particular families. Moreover, we present some numerical simulations related to the topic and, finally, we propose some open problems that look into the relationship established between generalized Lozi maps and max-equations.
We consider strange attractors of two dimensional generalized map with one nonlinearity such that Lozi, Hénon and Belykh maps are particular cases of it. We describe technique of invariant expanding and contracting cones creation for study of hyperbolic properties. Theorems of singular hyperbolic attractors for new modifications of Lozi, Hénon and Belykh-type maps are presented.
We introduce a renormalization model which explains how the behavior of a discrete-time continuous dynamical system changes as the dimension of the system varies. The model applies to some two-dimensional systems, including Hénon and Lozi maps. Here, we focus on the orientation preserving Lozi family, a two-parameter family of continuous piecewise affine maps, and treat the family as a perturbation of the tent family from one to two dimensions. First, we give a new prove that all periodic orbits can be classified by using symbolic dynamics. For each coding, the associated periodic orbit depend…
A generalized attracting horseshoe is introduced as a new paradigm for describing chaotic strange attractors (of arbitrary finite rank) for smooth and piecewise smooth maps f from Q to Q, where Q is a homeomorph of the unit interval in real m-space for any integer m > 1. The main theorems for generalized attracting horseshoes are shown to apply to Henon and Lozi maps, thereby leading to rather simple new chaotic strange attractor existence proofs that apply to a range of parameter values that includes those of earlier proofs.
We construct Markov partitions for non-invertible and/or singular nonuniformly hyperbolic systems defined on higher dimensional Riemannian manifolds. The generality of the setup covers classical examples not treated so far, such as geodesic flows in closed manifolds, multidimensional billiard maps, and Viana maps, and includes all the recent results of the literature. We also provide a wealth of applications.
This survey describes the recent advances in the construction of Markov partitions for nonuniformly hyperbolic systems. One important feature of this development comes from a finer theory of nonuniformly hyperbolic systems, which we also describe. The Markov partition defines a symbolic extension that is finite-to-one and onto a non-uniformly hyperbolic locus, and this provides dynamical and statistical consequences such as estimates on the number of closed orbits and properties of equilibrium measures. The class of systems includes diffeomorphisms, flows, and maps with singularities.
We give piecewise affine maps on the unit cube whose symbolic representation is the Dyck shift. This leads to a different way of verifying the chaotic nature of this system, including the computation of entropy.
We identify a class of hyperbolic transcendental entire maps and we prove that some of its elements generate a class of potentials for which exhibit a conformal and invariant probability Gibbs measure. The methods and techniques from the thermodynamic formalism can be extended to this class of potentials. To complement this study we highlight that the dynamics of such a map on some subset of the Julia set is conjugated to the shift map over a code space with countable alphabet and the euclidean metric on the complex plane induces a metric on the symbolic space which is not compatible with the …
We study the parameter space of a family of planar maps, which are linear on each of the right and left half-planes. We consider the set of parameters for which every orbit recurs to the boundary between half-planes. These parameters consist of algebraic curves, determined by the symbolic dynamics of the itinerary that connects boundary points. We study the algebraic and geometrical properties of these curves, in relation with such a symbolic dynamics.
