In this paper, we have considered a spatially flat FRW universe filled with pressureless matter and dark energy. We have considered a phenomenological parametrization of the deceleration parameter $q(z)$ and from this we have reconstructed the equation of state for dark energy $ω_ϕ(z)$. This divergence free parametrization of the deceleration parameter is inspired from one of the most popular parametrization of the dark energy equation of state given by Barboza and Alcaniz. Using the combination of datasets (SN Ia $+$ Hubble $+$ BAO/CMB), we have constrained the transition redshift $z_{t}$ (at which the universe switches from a decelerating to an accelerating phase) and have found the best fit value of $z_{t}$. We have also compared the reconstructed results of $q(z)$ and $ω_ϕ(z)$ and have found that the results are compatible with a $Λ$CDM universe if we consider SN Ia $+$ Hubble data but inclusion of BAO/CMB data makes $q(z)$ and $ω_ϕ(z)$ incompatible with $Λ$CDM model. The potential term for the present toy model is found to be functionally similar to a Higgs potential.
We propose, and constrain with the latest observational data, three model-independent parametrizations of the cosmic deceleration parameter $q(z)$. They are well behaved and stay finite at all redshifts. We construct them by fixing the value of $q$ at high redshift, $q(z \gg 1) = 1/2$ (as demanded by cosmic structure formation), and at the far future, $q(z = -1) = -1$, and smoothly interpolating $q(z)$ between them. The fixed point at $z = -1$ is not arbitrarily chosen; it readily follows from the second law of thermodynamics. This fairly reduces the ample latitude in parameterizing $q(z)$.
The parametrizations $q=q_0+q_1 z$ and $q=q_0+q_1 (1-a/a_0)$ (Chevallier-Polarski-Linder parametrization) of deceleration parameter, which are linear in cosmic redshift $z$ and scale factor $a$, have been frequently utilized in the literature to study kinematics of Universe. In this paper, we follow a strategy that leads to these two well known parametrizations of deceleration parameter as well as an additional new parametrization $q=q_0+q_1(1-t/t_0)$, which is linear in cosmic time $t$. We study the features of this linearly time-varying deceleration parameter in contrast with the other two l…
We further investigate slowing down of acceleration of the universe scenario for five parametrizations of the equation of state of dark energy using four sets of supernovae data. In a maximal probability analysis we also use the baryon acoustic oscillation and cosmic microwave background observations. We found the low redshift transition of the deceleration parameter appears, independently of the parametrization, using supernovae data alone except for the Union 2.1 sample. This feature disappears once we combine the supernova data with high redshift data. We conclude that the rapid variation o…
The present work is based on a parametric reconstruction of the deceleration parameter $q(z)$ in a model for the spatially flat FRW universe filled with dark energy and non-relativistic matter. In cosmology, the parametric reconstruction technique deals with an attempt to build up a model by choosing some specific evolution scenario for a cosmological parameter and then estimate the values of the parameters with the help of different observational datasets. In this paper, we have proposed a logarithmic parametrization of $q(z)$ to probe the evolution history of the universe. Using the type Ia …
We explore non-canonical scalar field model in the background of non-flat $D$-dimensional fractal Universe with cosmological constant $Λ$ on the condition that the matter and scalar field are separately conserved. The potential $V$, scalar field $ϕ$, function $f$, densities, Hubble parameter and deceleration parameter can be expressed in terms of the redshift $z$ and these depend on the equation of state parameter $w_ϕ$. We also investigate four kinds of well known parametrization models and graphically we have analyzed the natures of potential, scalar field, function $f$, densities, the Hubbl…
In this work, we have proposed a general dark energy density parametrization to study the evolution of the universe. We have also constrained the model parameters using the combination of Type Ia supernova (SNIa), baryonic acoustic oscillations (BAO), cosmic microwave background radiation (CMB) and observational $H(z)$ datasets. For the $H(z)$ dataset, we have used the direct observations of the Hubble rate, from the radial BAO size and the cosmic chronometer methods. Our result indicates that the SNIa+$H(z)$+BAO/CMB dataset does not favour the $Λ$CDM model at more than $2σ$ confidence level. …
In this present work, we try to build up a cosmological model using a non-canonical scalar field within the framework of a spatially flat FRW space-time. In this context, we have considered four different parametrizations of the equation of state parameter of the non-canonical scalar field. Under this scenario, analytical solutions for various cosmological parameters have been found out. It has been found that the deceleration parameter shows a smooth transition from a positive value to some negative value which indicates that the universe was undergoing an early deceleration followed by late …
In this paper, we have proposed a generalized parametrization for the deceleration parameter $q$ in order to study the evolutionary history of the universe. We have shown that the proposed model can reproduce three well known $q$-parametrized models for some specific values of the model parameter $α$. We have used the latest compilation of the Hubble parameter measurements obtained from the cosmic chronometer (CC) method (in combination with the local value of the Hubble constant $H_{0}$) and the Type Ia supernova (SNIa) data to place constraints on the parameters of the model for different va…
We study an extension of symmetric teleparallel gravity i.e. Weyl-type $f(Q,T)$ gravity and the divergence-free parametrization of the deceleration parameter $q(z) = q_{0}+q_{1}\frac{z(1+z)}{1+z^2}$ ($q_{0}$ and $q_{1}$ are free constants) to explore the evolution of the universe. By considering the above parametric form of $q$, we derive the Hubble solution and further impose it in the Friedmann equations of Weyl-type $f(Q, T)$ gravity. To see whether this model can challenge the $Λ$CDM limits, we computed the constraints on the model parameters using the Bayesian analysis for the Observation…
We introduce a new parametrization for the dark energy, led by the same idea to the linear expansion of the equation of state in scale factor $a$ and in redshift $z$, which diverges neither in the past nor future and contains the same number of degrees of freedom with the former two. We present constraints of the cosmological parameters using the most updated baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) measurements along with cosmic microwave background (CMB) data and a recent reanalysis of Type Ia supernova (SN) data. This new parametrization allowed us to carry out successive observational analyses by…
We derive the propagator for a massless, minimally coupled scalar on a $D$-dimensional, spatially flat, homogeneous and isotropic background with arbitrary constant deceleration parameter. Our construction uses the operator formalism, by integrating the Fourier mode sum. We give special attention to infrared corrections from the nonzero lower limit associated with working on finite spatial sections. These corrections eliminate infrared divergences that would otherwise be incorrectly treated by dimensional regularization, resulting in off-coincidence divergences for those special values of the …
We propose a model-independent parametrization of dark energy motivated by thermodynamics. To this aim, we consider Padé polynomials to reconstruct the form of deceleration parameter adequate to describe different epochs of cosmic history and divergence-free in the far future. The proposed scenario also fulfills the demand of structure formation and contains the $Λ$CDM model as a limiting case. Thus, a numerical analysis at both background and perturbation levels is performed through the Markov Chain Monte Carlo method in view of the most recent cosmic data. We then use the observational const…
We calculate the one-loop divergences for quantum gravity with cosmological constant, using new parametrization of quantum metric. The conformal factor of the metric is treated as an independent variable. As a result the theory possesses an additional degeneracy and one needs an extra conformal gauge fixing. We verify the on shell independence of the divergences from the parameter of the conformal gauge fixing, and find a special conformal gauge in which the divergences coincide with the ones obtained by t'Hooft and Veltman (1974). Using conformal invariance of the counterterms one can restore…
Future singularities arising in a family of models for the expanding Universe, characterized by sharing a convenient parametrization of the energy budget in terms of the deceleration parameter, are classified. Finite-time future singularities are known to appear in many cosmological scenarios, in particular, in the presence of viscosity or non-gravitational interactions, the last being known to be able to suppress or just change in some cases the type of the cosmological singularity. Here, a family of models with a parametrization of the energy budget in terms of the deceleration parameter are…
The CPL parametrization is very important for investigating the property of dark energy with observational data. However, the CPL parametrization only respects the past evolution of dark energy but does not care about the future evolution of dark energy, since $w(z)$ diverges in the distant future. In a recent paper [J.Z. Ma and X. Zhang, Phys.\ Lett.\ B {\bf 699}, 233 (2011)], a robust, novel parametrization for dark energy, $w(z)=w_0+w_1({\ln (2+z)\over 1+z}-\ln2)$, has been proposed, successfully avoiding the future divergence problem in the CPL parametrization. On the other hand, an oscill…
In view of late-time cosmic acceleration, a dark energy cosmological model is revisited wherein Einstein's cosmological constant is considered as a candidate of dark energy. Exact solution of Einstein field equations (EFEs) is derived in a homogeneous isotropic background in classical general relativity. The solution procedure is adopted, in a model independent way (or the cosmological parametrization). A simple parametrization of the Hubble parameter (H) as a function of cosmic time `t' is considered which produces an exponential type of evolution of the scale factor (a) and also shows a nega…
An approach to estimate the spatial curvature $Ω_k$ from data independently of dynamical models is suggested, through kinematic parameterizations of the comoving distance ($D_{C}(z)$) with third degree polynomial, of the Hubble parameter ($H(z)$) with a second degree polynomial and of the deceleration parameter ($q(z)$) with first order polynomial. All these parameterizations were done as function of redshift $z$. We used SNe Ia dataset from Pantheon compilation with 1048 distance moduli estimated in the range $0.01<z<2.3$ with systematic and statistical errors and a compilation of 31 $H(z)$ d…
In the present work, we study the R$\acute{e}$nyi holographic dark energy model (RHDE) in a flat FRW Universe where the infrared cut-off is taken care by the Hubble horizon and also by taking three different parametrizations of the interaction term between the dark matter and the dark energy. Analyzing graphically, the behavior of some cosmological parameters in particular deceleration parameter, equation of state (EoS) parameter, energy density parameter and squared speed of sound, in the process of the cosmic evolution, is found to be leading towards the late-time accelerated expansion of th…
In this paper, we propose a simple parametrization of the Hubble parameter H in order to explain the late time cosmic acceleration. We show that our proposal covers many models obtained in different schemes of parametrization under one umbrella. We demonstrate that a simple modification in the functional form of Hubble parameter can give rise to interesting cosmological phenomena such as big rip singularity, bounce and others. We have also constrained the model parameters using the latest 28 points of H(z) data for three cases which admit transition from deceleration to acceleration.
In this paper, we examine the accelerated expansion of the Universe at late-time in the framework of $f\left( Q\right) $ gravity theory in which the non-metricity scalar $Q$ describes the gravitational interaction. To this, we propose a new parametrization of the Hubble parameter using a model-independent way and apply it to the Friedmann equations in the FLRW Universe. Then we estimate the best fit values of the model parameters by using the combined datasets of updated $H(z)$ consisting of $57$ points, the Pantheon consisting of $1048$ points, and BAO datasets consisting of six points with t…
We study a parametrization of the deceleration parameter in a tilted universe, namely a cosmological model equipped with two families of observers. The first family follows the smooth Hubble flow, while the second are the real observers residing in a typical galaxy inside a bulk flow and moving relative to the smooth Hubble expansion with finite peculiar velocity. We use the compilation of Type Ia Supernovae (SnIa) data, as described in the Pantheon dataset, to find the quality of fit to the data and study the redshift evolution of the deceleration parameter. In so doing, we consider two alter…
We reconstruct in this paper the deceleration and jerk parameters as functions of the cosmological redshift from data on cosmic chronometers (CCH), baryon acoustic oscillations (BAOs), and the Pantheon+MCT compilation of supernovae of Type Ia (SnIa). The reconstruction is carried out with the Weighted Function Regression method, previously introduced by Gómez-Valent & Amendola (2018). It improves the usual cosmographic approach by automatically implementing Occam's razor criterion. This makes our procedure to be more free of model and parametrization dependencies than many other analyses in th…
In this article, we investigate the modified symmetric teleparallel gravity or $f(Q)$ gravity, where $Q$ is the non-metricity, to study the evolutionary history of the universe by considering the functional form of $f(Q)=αQ^n$, where $α$ and $n$ are constants. Here, we consider the parametrization form of the deceleration parameter as $q=q_0+\frac{q_1\,z}{(1+z)^2}$ which provides the desired property for sign flip from a decelerating to an accelerating phase. We get the solution of the Hubble parameter by examining the mentioned parametric form of $q$, and then we impose the solution in Friedm…
We propose a new parametrization of the deceleration parameter to study its time-variation behavior. The advantage of parameterizing the deceleration parameter is that we do not need to assume any underlying theory of gravity. By fitting the model to the 157 gold sample supernova Ia data, we find strong evidence that the Universe is currently accelerating and it accelerated in the past. By fitting the model to the 115 nearby and Supernova Legacy Survey supernova Ia data, the evidence that the Universe is currently accelerating is weak, although there is still a strong evidence that the Univers…
We show that a canonical scalar field with a phenomenological form of energy density or equivalently an equation of state parameter can provide the required transition from decelerated ($q>0$) to accelerated expansion ($q<0$) phase of the universe. We have used the latest Type Ia Supernova (SNIa) and Hubble parameter datasets to constrain the model parameters. It has been found that for each of these dataset, the transition in deceleration parameter $q$ takes place at the recent past ($z<1$). The future evolution of $q$ is also discussed in the context of the model under consideration. Further…
In this paper, we report the results of constraining the dynamical dark energy with a divergence-free parameterization, $w(z) = w_{0} + w_{a}(\frac{\ln(2+z)}{1+z}-\ln2)$, in the presence of spatial curvature and massive neutrinos, with the 7-yr WMAP temperature and polarization data, the power spectrum of LRGs derived from SDSS DR7, the Type Ia supernova data from Union2 sample, and the new measurements of $H_0$ from HST, by using a MCMC global fit method. Our focus is on the determinations of the spatial curvature, $Ω_k$, and the total mass of neutrinos, $\sum m_ν$, in such a dynamical dark e…
The new 182 gold supernova Ia data, the baryon acoustic oscillation measurement and the shift parameter determined from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey and the three-year Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe data are combined to reconstruct the dark energy equation of state parameter $w(z)$ and the deceleration parameter $q(z)$. We find that the strongest evidence of acceleration happens around the redshift $z\sim 0.2$ and the stringent constraints on $w(z)$ lie in the redshift range $z\sim 0.2-0.5$. At the sweet spot, $-1.2<w(z)<-0.6$ for the dark energy parametrization $w(z)=w_0+w_a z/(1+z)^2$ …
We present a novel reconstruction method of $f(T)$ teleparallel gravity from phenomenological parameterizations of the deceleration parameter or other alternatives. This can be used as a toolkit to produce viable modified gravity scenarios directly related to cosmological observations. We test two parameterizations of the deceleration parameter considered in recent literatures in addition to one parametrization of the effective (total) equation of state (EoS) of the universe. We use the asymptotic behaviour of the matter density parameter as an extra constraint to identify the viable range of …
In this paper we consider a massless scalar field, with a possible coupling $ξ$ to the Ricci scalar in a $D$ dimensional FLRW spacetime with a constant deceleration parameter $q=ε-1$, $ε=-{\dot{H}}/{H^2}$. Correlation functions for the Bunch-Davies vacuum of such a theory have long been known to be infrared divergent for a wide range of values of $ε$. We resolve these divergences by explicitly matching the spacetime under consideration to a spacetime without infrared divergencies. Such a procedure ensures that all correlation functions with respect to the vacuum in the spacetime of interest ar…
Constraints on a dark energy dominated Universe are obtained from an interplay between Bayesian Machine Learning and string Swampland criteria. The approach here differs from previous studies, since in the generative process Swampland criteria are used and, only later, the results of the fit are validated, by using observational data-sets. A generative process based Bayesian Learning approach is applied to two models and the results are validated by means of available $H(z)$ data. For the first model, a parametrization of the Hubble constant is considered and, for the second, a parametrization…
We study the accelerated expansion phase of the universe by using the {\textit{kinematic approach}}. In particular, the deceleration parameter $q$ is parametrized in a model-independent way. Considering a generalized parametrization for $q$, we first obtain the jerk parameter $j$ (a dimensionless third time derivative of the scale factor) and then confront it with cosmic observations. We use the latest observational dataset of the Hubble parameter $H(z)$ consisting of 41 data points in the redshift range of $0.07 \leq z \leq 2.36$, larger than the redshift range that covered by the Type Ia sup…
Since the late 1990's observations of type Ia Supernova, our universe is predicted to experience a late time cosmic acceleration. Theoretical support to this observation were intended to be built via proposition of a hypothetical fluid which staying inside the universe exerts negative pressure. Cosmologists have prescribed many candidates for this exotic fluid so far. In this alley, a popular method is to choose time dependent equation of state parameter $ω= \frac{p}ρ$ and to parametrize it as a function of redshift. Again some common families of such parametrizations are constructed among whi…
We discuss the exact solutions of brane universes and the results indicate the Friedmann equations on the branes are modified with a new density term. Then, we assume the new term as the density of dark energy. Using Wetterich's parametrization equation of state (EOS) of dark energy, we obtain the new term varies with the red-shift z. Finally, the evolutions of the mass density parameter $Ω_2$, dark energy density parameter $Ω_x$ and deceleration parameter q_2 are studied.
In this paper, we have considered a quadratic variation of the deceleration parameter ($q$) as a function of cosmic time ($t$) which describes a smooth transition from the decelerating phase of the Universe to an accelerating one and also show some distinctive feature from the standard model. The logical move of this article is against the behavior of the future Universe, \textit{i.e.} whether the Universe expands forever or ends with a Big Rip, and we observe that the outcome of the considered parametrization comes in favor of Big Rip future of the Universe. The whole set up of the parametriz…
In this work, FRW universe filled with dark matter (perfect fluid with negligible pressure) along with dark energy in the background of Galileon gravity is considered. Four dark energy models with different EoS parametrizations have been employed namely, Linear, CPL, JBP and Logarithmic parametrizations. From Stern, Stern+BAO and Stern+BAO+CMB joint data analysis, we have obtained the bounds of the arbitrary parameters $ω_{0}$ and $ω_{1}$ by minimizing the $χ^{2}$ test. The best-fit values and bounds of the parameters are obtained at 66\%, 90\% and 99\% confidence levels which are shown by clo…
The equation of state parameter is a significant method for characterizing dark energy models. We investigate the evolution of the equation of state parameter with redshift using a Bayesian analysis of recent observational datasets (the Cosmic Chronometer data (CC) and Pantheon samples). The Chevallier-Polarski-Linder parametrization of the effective equation of state parameter, $ω_{eff}=ω_0+ω_a \left( \frac{z}{1+z}\right) $, where $ω_0$ and $ω_a$ are free constants, is confined to the Weyl type $f(Q,T)$ gravity, where $Q$ represents the non-metricity and $T$ is the trace of the energy-momentu…
We use cosmography to present constraints on the kinematics of the Universe, without postulating any underlying theoretical model. To this end, we use a Monte Carlo Markov Chain analysis to perform comparisons to the supernova Ia Union 2 compilation, combined with the Hubble Space Telescope measurements of the Hubble constant, and the Hubble parameter datasets. We introduce a sixth order cosmographic parameter and show that it does not enlarge considerably the posterior distribution when comparing to the fifth order results. We also propose a way to construct viable parameter variables to be u…
In the present article we have investigated a very natural question regarding the dynamics of the universe, namely, the possibility of its decelerating phase immediately after the present accelerating phase. To begin with, we have focused on the matter creation theory which is considered to be a viable alternative to dark energy and modified gravity models. Moreover, we have introduced the cosmographic approach which allows us to express the free parameters of a cosmological model in terms of the known cosmographic parameters. Assuming a generalized matter creation rate we have discussed the t…
