In our earlier paper, based on a paper by Bump and Ginzburg, we used an Eisenstein series on the double cover of GL(r) to obtain an integral representation of the twisted symmetric square L-function of GL(r). Using that, we showed that the (incomplete) twisted symmetric square L-function of GL(r) is holomorphic for Re(s) > 1. In this paper, we will determine the possible poles of this Eisenstein series more precisely and show that the (incomplete) twisted symmetric square L-function is entire except possible simple poles at s = 0 and s = 1.
We compute the Fourier coefficients of a minimal parabolic Eisenstein distribution on the double cover of SL$(3)$ over $\mathbb{Q}$. Two key aspects of the paper are an explicit formula for the constant term, and formulas for the Fourier coefficients at the ramified place $p=2$. Additionally, the unramified non-degenerate Fourier coefficients of this Eisenstein distribution fit into the combinatorial description provided by Brubaker-Bump-Friedberg-Hoffstein in `Weyl group multiple Dirichlet series. III. Eisenstein series and twisted unstable $A_r$'.
We study the number of two-dimensional sublattices of $\mathbb{Z^4}$ of a fixed covolume and construct the associated Dirichlet series. The latter is shown to be related to Eisenstein series on both $GL_4$ and its metaplectic double cover.
With respect to the analytic-algebraic dichotomy, the theory of Siegel modular forms of half-integral weight is lopsided; the analytic theory is strong whereas the algebraic lags behind. In this paper, we capitalise on this to establish the fundamental object needed for the analytic side of the Iwasawa main conjecture -- the $p$-adic $L$-function obtained by interpolating the complex $L$-function at special values. This is achieved through the Rankin-Selberg method and the explicit Fourier expansion of non-holomorphic Siegel Eisenstein series. The construction of the $p$-stabilisation in this …
We introduce the zeta function of the prehomogenous vector space of binary cubic forms, twisted by the real analytic Eisenstein series. We prove the meromorphic continuation of this zeta function and identify its poles and their residues. We also identify the poles and residues of the zeta function when restricted to irreducible binary cubic forms. This zeta function can be used to prove the equidistribution of the lattice shape of cubic rings.
Let $Γ$ be a geometrically finite Fuchsian group and suppose that $χ\colonΓ\to\mathrm{GL}(V)$ is a finite-dimensional representation with non-expanding cusp monodromy. We show that the parabolic Eisenstein series for $Γ$ with twist $χ$ converges on some half-plane. Further, we develop Fourier-type expansions for these Eisenstein series.
Notable results on the special values of $L$-functions of Siegel modular forms were obtained by J. Sturm in the case when the degree $n$ is even and the weight $k$ is an integer. In this paper we extend this method to half-integer weights $k$ and arbitrary degree $n$, determining the algebraic field in which they lie. This method hinges on the Rankin-Selberg method; our extension of this is aided by the theory of half-integral modular forms developed by G. Shimura. In the second half, an analogue of P. B. Garrett's conjecture is proved in this setting, a result that is of independent interest …
We form real-analytic Eisenstein series twisted by Manin's noncommutative modular symbols. After developing their basic properties, these series are shown to have meromorphic continuations to the entire complex plane and satisfy functional equations in some cases. This theory neatly contains and generalizes earlier work in the literature on the properties of Eisenstein series twisted by classical modular symbols.
In a recent work of Darmon, Pozzi and Vonk, the authors consider a particular $p$-adic family of Hilbert Eisenstein series $E_k(1,\brch)$ associated with an odd character $\brch$ of the narrow ideal class group of a real quadratic field $F$ and compute the first derivative of a certain one-variable twisted triple product $p$-adic $L$-series attached to $E_k(1,\brch)$ and an elliptic newform $f$ of weight $2$ on $Γ_0(p)$. In this paper, we generalize their construction to include the cyclotomic variable and thus obtain a two-variable twisted triple product $p$-adic $L$-series. Moreover, when $f…
We show that all Eichler integrals, and more generally all "generalized second order modular forms" can be expressed as linear combinations of corresponding generalized second order Eisenstein series with coefficients in classical modular forms. We determine the Fourier series expansions of generalized second order Eisenstein series in level one, and provide tail estimates via convexity bounds for additively twisted $\mathrm{L}$-functions. As an application, we illustrate a bootstrapping procedure that yields numerical evaluations of, for instance, Eichler integrals from merely the associated …
By the theory of Eisenstein series, generating functions of various divisor functions arise as modular forms. It is natural to ask whether further divisor functions arise systematically in the theory of mock modular forms. We establish, using the method of Zagier and Zwegers on holomorphic projection, that this is indeed the case for certain (twisted) "small divisors" summatory functions $σ_ψ^{\mathrm{sm}}(n)$. More precisely, in terms of the weight 2 quasimodular Eisenstein series $E_2(τ)$ and a generic Shimura theta function $θ_ψ(τ)$, we show that there is a constant $α_ψ$ for which $$ \math…
We give explicit expressions for the Fourier coefficients of Eisenstein series twisted by Dirichlet characters and modular symbols on $Γ_0(N)$ in the case where $N$ is prime and equal to the conductor of the Dirichlet character. We obtain these expressions by computing the spectral decomposition of automorphic functions closely related to these Eisenstein series. As an application, we then evaluate certain sums of modular symbols in a way which parallels past work of Goldfeld, O'Sullivan, Petridis, and Risager. In one case we find less cancellation in this sum than would be predicted by the co…
We prove an explicit integral representation -- involving the pullback of a suitable Siegel Eisenstein series -- for the twisted standard $L$-function associated to a holomorphic vector-valued Siegel cusp form of degree $n$ and arbitrary level. In contrast to all previously proved pullback formulas in this situation, our formula involves only scalar-valued functions despite being applicable to $L$-functions of vector-valued Siegel cusp forms. The key new ingredient in our method is a novel choice of local vectors at the archimedean place which allows us to exactly compute the archimedean local…
