We study an equation $Qu=g$, where $Q$ is a continuous quadratic operator acting from one normed space to another normed space. Obviously, if $u$ is a solution of such equation then $-u$ is also a solution. We find conditions implying that there are no other solutions and apply them to the study of the Dirichlet boundary value problem for the partial differential equation $uΔu =g$.
Our main result gives an improved bound on the filling areas of closed curves in Banach spaces which are not closed geodesics. As applications we show rigidity of Pu's classical systolic inequality and investigate the isoperimetric constants of normed spaces. The latter has further applications concerning the regularity of minimal surfaces in Finsler manifolds.
This paper first proves two fixed point theorems in complete random normed modules, which are respectively the random generalizations of the classical Banach's contraction mapping principle and Browder--Kirk's fixed point theorem. As applications, the first is used to give the existence and uniqueness of solutions to various kinds of backward stochastic equations under $L^0$--Lipschitz assumptions and the second is used to establish the existence of solutions to backward stochastic equations of nonexpansive type.
It is known that any normed vector space which satisfies the parallelogram law is actually an inner product space. For finite dimensional normed vector spaces over R, we formulate an approximate version of this theorem: if a space approximately satisfies the parallelogram law, then it has a near isometry with Euclidean space. In other words, a small von Neumann Jordan constant E + 1 for X yields a small Banach-Mazur distance with R^n, d(X, R^n) < 1 + B_n E + O(E^2). Finally, we examine how this estimate worsens as the dimension, n, of X increases, with the conclusion that B_n grows quadratical…
In this paper, we obtain the general solution and the stability result for the following functional equation in random normed spaces (in the sense of Sherstnev) under arbitrary $t$-norms $$f(2x+y)+f(2x-y)=4[f(x+y)+f(x-y)]+2[f(2x)-4f(x)]-6f(y).$$
In this paper we discuss some properties of resolvents of an accretive operator in linear 2-normed spaces, focusing on the concept of contraction mapping and the unique fixed point of contraction mappings in linear 2- normed spaces. Also, we establish the existence of solution of strong accretive operator equation in linear 2-normed spaces.
In this paper, we apply the publication of Joung (2009) to derive a stability result for for the second order linear functional equation: $f(x) = pf(x-1)-qf(x-2)$ for all $x\in\mathbb R$, where $f$ is a mapping from $\mathbb R$ into the induced random space of any Banach space. By relaxing the lower bound assumption, we also generalize the result of Jung (2009) on arbitrary random normed spaces with the minimum $t$-norm. However, we need the monotonicity of the distribution in the lower bound assumption. By the properties of normal distributions, our main result can be applied.
Norm estimates for strongly continuous semigroups have been successfully studied in numerous settings, but at the moment there are no corresponding studies in the case of solution operators of singular integral equations. Such equations have recently garnered a large amount of interest due to their potential to model numerous physically relevant phenomena with increased accuracy by incorporating so-called non-local effects. In this article, we provide the first step in the direction of providing such estimates for a particular class of operators which serve as solutions to certain integral equ…
We approximate a fuzzy almost quadratic function by a quadratic function in a fuzzy sense. More precisely, we establish a fuzzy Hyers--Ulam--Rassias stability of the quadratic functional equation $f(x+y)+f(x-y)=2f(x)+2f(y)$. Our result can be regarded as a generalization of the stability phenomenon in the framework of normed spaces. We also prove a generalized version of fuzzy stability of the Pexiderized quadratic functional equation $f(x+y)+f(x-y)=2g(x)+2h(y)$.
Let $X$ be a complex normed space. Based on the right norm derivative $ρ_{_{+}}$, we define a mapping $ρ_{_{\infty}}$ by \begin{equation*} ρ_{_{\infty}}(x,y) = \frac1π\int_0^{2π}e^{iθ}ρ_{_{+}}(x,e^{iθ}y)dθ\quad(x,y\in X). \end{equation*} The mapping $ρ_{_{\infty}}$ has a good response to some geometrical properties of $X$. For instance, we prove that $ρ_{_{\infty}}(x,y)=ρ_{_{\infty}}(y,x)$ for all $x, y \in X$ if and only if $X$ is an inner product space. In addition, we define a $ρ_{_{\infty}}$-orthogonality in $X$ and show that a linear mapping preserving $ρ_{_{\infty}}$-orthogonality has to…
In this paper, using the fixed point and direct methods, we prove the generalized Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of a Cauchy-Jensen additive functional equation in various normed spaces. The concept of Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability originated from Th. M. Rassias stability theorem that appeared in his paper: On the stability of the linear mapping in Banach spaces, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 72 (1978), 297-300.
It is well known that an ordered normed vector space $X$ with normal cone $X_+$ has an order-preserving norm that is equivalent to the original norm. Such an equivalent order-preserving norm is given by \begin{equation} \sharp x \sharp = \max \{ d(x, X_+), d(x, - X_+)\}, \qquad x \in X. \end{equation} This paper explores the properties of this norm and of the half-norm $ψ(x) = d(x,-X_+)$ independently of whether or not the cone is normal. We use $ψ$ to derive comparison principles for the solutions of abstract integral equations, derive conditions for point-dissipativity of nonlinear positive …
We say that a mapping $f: X \rightarrow Y$ between two real normed spaces is a phase-isometry if it satisfies the functional equation \begin{eqnarray*} \{\|f(x)+f(y)\|, \|f(x)-f(y)\|\}=\{\|x+y\|, \|x-y\|\} \quad (x,y\in X).\end{eqnarray*} A generalized Mazur-Ulam question is whether every surjective phase-isometry is a multiplication of a linear isometry and a map with range $\{-1, 1\}$. This assertion is also an extension of a fundamental statement in the mathematical description of quantum mechanics, Wigner's theorem to real normed spaces. In this paper, we show that for every space $Y$ the …
Using the fixed point theorem we establish the Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability of the generalized Pexider functional equation $$\frac{1}{\mid K\mid}\sum_{k\in K}f(x+k\cdot y)=g(x)+h(y),\;\;x,y\in E$$ from a normed space $E$ into a complete $β$-normed space $F$, where $K$ is a finite abelian subgroup of the automorphism group of the group $(E,+)$.
Let $K$ be the scalar field of real numbers or complex numbers and $L^{0}(\mathcal{F},K)$ the algebra of equivalence classes of $K-$valued random variables defined on a probability space $(Ω,\mathcal{F},P)$. In this paper, we first characterize the algebraic structure of finitely generated $L^{0}(\mathcal{F},K)$-modules and then combining the recently developed separation theorem in random locally convex modules we prove the Helly theorem in random normed modules with the countable concatenation property under the framework of random conjugate spaces at the same time a simple counterexample sh…
We characterise narrow and strong Daugavet operators on $C(K,E)$-spaces; these are in a way the largest sensible classes of operators for which the norm equation $\|Id+T\| = 1+\|T\|$ is valid. For certain separable range spaces $E$ including all finite-dimensional ones and locally uniformly convex ones we show that an unconditionally pointwise convergent sum of narrow operators on $C(K,E)$ is narrow, which implies for instance the known result that these spaces do not have unconditional FDDs. In a different vein, we construct two narrow operators on $C([0,1],\ell_1)$ whose sum is not narrow.
We prove generalized Hyres-Ulam-Rassias stability of the cubic functional equation $f(kx+y)+f(kx-y)=k[f(x+y)+f(x-y)]+2(k^3-k)f(x)$ for all $k\in \Bbb N$ and the quartic functional equation $f(kx+y)+f(kx-y)=k^2[f(x+y)+f(x-y)]+2k^2(k^2-1)f(x)-2(k^2-1)f(y)$ for all $k\in \Bbb N$ in non-Archimedean normed spaces.
In this paper, we study the generalized Hyers-Ulam stability of Euler-Lagrange type cubic functional equation of the form \begin{align*} 2mf(x + my) + 2f(mx - y) = (m^3 + m)[f(x+ y) + f(x - y)] + 2(m^4 - 1)f(y) \end{align*} for all $x,y \in X$, where $m$ is a fixed scalar such that $m \neq 0,1$, and $f$ is a map from a quasi-normed space $X$ to a quasi-Banach space $Y$ over the same field with $X$ by applying the alternative fixed point theorem.
We study the stability of standing-waves solutions to a scalar non-linear Klein-Gordon equation in dimension one with a quadratic-cubic non-linearity. Orbits are obtained by applying the semigroup generated by the negative complex unit multiplication on a critical point of the energy constrained to the charge.
In this paper, we introduce the concept of j-hom-derivation, $j\in\{1,2\}$ and solve the new generalized additive-quadratic functional equations in the sense of ternary Banach algebras. Moreover, using the fixed point method, we prove its Hyers-Ulam stability.
The Hyers--Ulam stability of the conditional quadratic functional equation of Pexider type f(x+y)+f(x-y)=2g(x)+2h(y), x\perp y is established where \perp is a symmetric orthogonality in the sense of Ratz and f is odd.
In this paper we investigate the generalized Hyers- Ulam stability of the functional equation $$f (2x +y)+f (2x -y)= f (x + y)+ f (x -y)+2f (2x)-2f (x)$$ in fuzzy Banach spaces.
In this paper, we prove generalized Hyres--Ulam--Rassias stability of the mixed type additive, quadratic and cubic functional equation $$f(x+ky)+f(x-ky)=k^2f(x+y)+k^2f(x-y)+2(1-k^2)f(x)$$ for fixed integers $k$ with $k\neq0,\pm1$ in non-Archimedean spaces.
We consider the stability of the orthogonal Jensen additive and quadratic equations in $F$-spaces, through applying and extending the approach to the proof of a 2010 result of W.Frchner and J.Sikorska, we presenting a new method to get the stability. Moreover, we work in a more general and natural condition than considered before by other antuors.
The objective of this manuscript is to enquire for the solvability of a specific type of non-linear quadratic integral equations via the interesting notion of measure of non-compactness. Firstly, we inquire into couple of exciting fixed point theorems involving a measure of non-compactness in the setting of a Banach space. Subsequently, bringing into play a suitable measure of non-compactness and the acquired results, we discuss the existence of solution to the aforementioned kind of non-linear quadratic integral equations.
In this paper, we obtain the general solution and the generalized Hyers-Ulam Rassias stability of the functional equation $$3(f(x+2y)+f(x-2y))=12(f(x+y)+f(x-y))+4f(3y)-18f(2y)+36f(y)-18f(x).$$
In this paper, we achieve the general solution and the generalized Hyers-Ulam-Rassias stability for the quadratic type functional equation &f(x+y+2cz)+f(x+y-2cz)+c^2f(2x)+c^2f(2y) &=2[f(x+y)+c^2f(x+z)+c^2f(x-z)+c^2f(y+z)+c^2f(y-z)] {2.6 cm} for fixed integers $c$ with $c\neq0,\pm1$, by using the fixed point alternative.
In the present paper is devoted to the study of elliptic quadratic operator equations over the finite dimensional Euclidean space. We provide necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions of elliptic quadratic operator equations. The iterative Newton-Kantorovich method is also presented for stable solutions.
We employ Schauder fixed-point Theorem to prove the existence of at least one positive continuous solution of the quadratic integral equation Moreover, the maximal and the minimal solutions of the last equation are also proved.
