The objective of this manuscript is to enquire for the solvability of a specific type of non-linear quadratic integral equations via the interesting notion of measure of non-compactness. Firstly, we inquire into couple of exciting fixed point theorems involving a measure of non-compactness in the setting of a Banach space. Subsequently, bringing into play a suitable measure of non-compactness and the acquired results, we discuss the existence of solution to the aforementioned kind of non-linear quadratic integral equations.
Using the matrix representation of Fourier integral operators with respect to a Gabor frame, we study their compactness on weighted modulation spaces. As a consequence, we recover and improve some compactness results for pseudodifferential operators.
The compactness of the commutators of bilinear fractional integral operators and point-wise multiplication, acting on products of Lebesgue spaces, is characterized in terms of appropriate mean oscillation properties of their symbols. The compactness of the commutators when acting on product of weighted Lebesgue spaces is also studied.
A version of Arzelà-Ascoli theorem for $X$ being $σ$-locally compact Hausdorff space is proved. The result is used in proving compactness of Fredholm, Hammerstein and Urysohn operators. Two fixed point theorems, for Hammerstein and Urysohn operator, are derived on the basis of Schauder theorem.
Let $I_α$ be the bilinear fractional integral operator, $B_α$ be a more singular family of bilinear fractional integral operators and $\vec{b}=(b,b)$. Bényi et al. in \cite{B1} showed that if $b\in {\rm CMO}$, the {\rm BMO}-closure of $C^{\infty}_{c}(\mathbb{R}^n)$, the commutator $[b,B_α]_{i}(i=1,2)$ is a separately compact operator. In this paper, it is proved that $b\in {\rm CMO}$ is necessary for $[b,B_α]_{i}(i=1,2)$ is a compact operator. Also, the authors characterize the compactness of the {\bf iterated} commutator $[Π\vec{b},I_α]$ of bilinear fractional integral operator. More precisel…
We prove that a Volterra-type integral operator $T_gf(z) = \int_0^z f(ζ)g'(ζ)dζ, \, z \in \mathbb D,$ defined on Hardy spaces $H^p, \, 1 \le p < \infty,$ fixes an isomorphic copy of $\ell^p,$ if the operator $T_g$ is not compact. In particular, this shows that the strict singularity of the operator $T_g$ coincides with the compactness of the operator $T_g$ on spaces $H^p.$ As a consequence, we obtain a new proof for the equivalence of the compactness and the weak compactness of the operator $T_g$ on $H^1$.
Let $(E,\mathcal E,μ)$ be a measure space and $G\colon E\times E\to [0,\infty]$ be measurable. Moreover, let $\mathcal F\!_{ui}$ denote the set of all $q\in\mathcal E^+$ (measurable numerical functions $q\ge 0$ on $E$) such that $\{G(x,\cdot)q\colon x\in E\}$ is uniformly integrable, and let $\mathcal F\!_{co}$ denote the set of all $q\in\mathcal E^+$ such that the mapping $f\mapsto G(fq) :=\int G(\cdot,y) f(y) q(y)\,dμ(y)$ is a compact operator on the space $\mathcal E_b$ of bounded measurable functions on $E$ (equipped with the sup-norm). It is shown that $\mathcal F\!_{ui}=\mathcal F\!_{co}…
Bergman-type integral operators are classical operators in complex analysis and operator theory. Recently, the first author and his collaborator \cite{DiW} completely characterized the $L^p$-$L^q$ boundedness of Bergman-type integral operators $K_α,K_α^+$ and the $L^p$-$L^q$ compactness of $K_α$ on the unit ball. In this paper, we will use a substantially new method to completely characterize the $L^p$-$L^q$ compactness of $K_α^+,$ but also prove that the $L^p$-$L^q$ compactness of operators $K_α,K_α^+$ is in fact equivalent. Moreover, we completely characterize Schatten class and Macaev class…
We prove a compactness result with respect to $Γ$-convergence for a class of integral functionals which are expressed as a sum of a local and a non-local term. The main feature is that, under our hypotheses, the local part of the $Γ$-limit depends on the interaction between the local and non-local terms of the converging subsequence. The result is applied to concentration and homogenization problems.
In this paper, we study a class of Banach spaces, called ϕ-spaces. In a natural way, we associate a measure of weak compactness in such spaces and prove an analogue of Sadovskii fixed point theorem for weakly sequentially continuous maps. A counter-example is given to justify our requirement. As an application, we establish an existence result for a Hammerstein integral equation in a Banach space.
We elaborate a new method for constructing traces of quadratic forms in the framework of Hilbert and Dirichlet spaces. Our method relies on monotone convergence of quadratic forms and the canonical decomposition into regular and singular part. We give various situations where the trace can be described more explicitly and compute it for some illustrating examples. We then show that Mosco convergence of Dirichlet forms implies Mosco convergence of a subsequence of their approximating traces and that asymptotic compactness of Dirichlet forms yields asymptotic compactness of their traces.
In a previous work, "compact versions" of Rubio de Francia's weighted extrapolation theorem were proved, which allow one to extrapolate the compactness of an linear operator from just one space to the full range of weighted Lebesgue spaces, where this operator is bounded. In this paper, we extend these results to the setting of weighted Morrey spaces. As applications, we easily obtain new results on the weighted compactness of commutators of Calderón--Zygmund singular integrals, rough singular integrals and Bochner--Riesz multipliers.
We address the problem of studying the boundedness, compactness and weak compactness of the integral operators $T_g(f)(z)=\int_0^z f(ζ)g'(ζ)\,dζ$ acting from a Banach space $X$ into $H^\infty$. We obtain a collection of general results which are appropriately applied and mixed with specific techniques in order to solve the posed questions to particular choices of $X$.
Some quadratic reverses of the continuous triangle inequality for Bochner integral of vector-valued functions in Hilbert spaces are given. Applications for complex-valued functions are provided as well.
We employ Schauder fixed-point Theorem to prove the existence of at least one positive continuous solution of the quadratic integral equation Moreover, the maximal and the minimal solutions of the last equation are also proved.
Given two measurable functions $V(r)\geq 0$ and $K(r)> 0$, $r>0$, we define the weighted spaces \[ H_V^1 = \{u \in D^{1,2}(\mathbb{R}^N): \int_{\mathbb{R}^N}V(|x|)u^{2}dx < \infty \}, \quad L_K^q = L^q(\mathbb{R}^N,K(|x|)dx) \] and study the compact embeddings of the radial subspace of $H_V^1$ into $L_K^{q_1}+L_K^{q_2}$, and thus into $L_K^q$ ($=L_K^q+L_K^q$) as a particular case. Both super- and sub-quadratic exponents $q_1$, $q_2$ and $q$ are considered. Our results do not require any compatibility between how the potentials $V$ and $K$ behave at the origin and at infinity, and essentially r…
This work introduces microlocal compactness forms (MCFs) as a new tool to study oscillations and concentrations in $\mathrm{L}^p$-bounded sequences of functions. Decisively, MCFs retain information about the location, value distribution, and direction of oscillations and concentrations, thus extending at the same time the theories of (generalized) Young measures and H-measures. In $\mathrm{L}^p$-spaces oscillations and concentrations precisely discriminate between weak and strong compactness, and thus MCFs allow to quantify the difference in compactness. The definition of MCFs involves a Fouri…
We study a pathwise integral with respect to paths of finite quadratic variation, defined as the limit of non-anticipative Riemann sums for gradient-type integrands. We show that the integral satisfies a pathwise isometry property, analogous to the well-known Ito isometry for stochastic integrals. This property is then used to represent the integral as a continuous map on an appropriately defined vector space of integrands. Finally, we obtain a pathwise 'signal plus noise' decomposition for regular functionals of an irregular path with non-vanishing quadratic variation, as a unique sum of a pa…
We prove quantitative estimates on flows of ordinary differential equations with vector field with gradient given by a singular integral of an $L^1$ function. Such estimates allow to prove existence, uniqueness, quantitative stability and compactness for the flow, going beyond the $BV$ theory. We illustrate the related well-posedness theory of Lagrangian solutions to the continuity and transport equations.
