Bergman-type integral operators are classical operators in complex analysis and operator theory. Recently, the first author and his collaborator \cite{DiW} completely characterized the $L^p$-$L^q$ boundedness of Bergman-type integral operators $K_α,K_α^+$ and the $L^p$-$L^q$ compactness of $K_α$ on the unit ball. In this paper, we will use a substantially new method to completely characterize the $L^p$-$L^q$ compactness of $K_α^+,$ but also prove that the $L^p$-$L^q$ compactness of operators $K_α,K_α^+$ is in fact equivalent. Moreover, we completely characterize Schatten class and Macaev class Bergman-type integral operator $K_α$ on $L^2$ space and Bergman space via inequalities related to the dimension of the unit ball, and we also give an intrinsic characterization by introducing the concept of Hausdorff dimension of compact operators. The Dixmier trace of $K_α$ are also calculated in this paper.
We study compact operators on the Bergman space of the Thullen domain defined by $\{(z_1,z_2)\in \mathbb C^2: |z_1|^{2p}+|z_2|^2<1\}$ with $p>0$ and $p\neq 1$. The domain need not be smooth nor have a transitive automorphism group. We give a sufficient condition for the boundedness of various operators on the Bergman space. Under this boundedness condition, we characterize the compactness of operators on the Bergman space of the Thullen domain.
Let D be a bounded pseudoconvex domain in $C^n, n\geq 2, 0\leq p\leq n,$ and $1\leq q\leq n-1.$ We show that compactness of the dbar-Neumann operator, $N_{p,q+1},$ on square integrable (p,q+1)-forms is equivalent to compactness of the commutators $[P_{p,q}, \bar{z}_j]$ on square integrable dbar-closed (p,q)-forms for $1\leq j\leq n$ where $P_{p,q}$ is the Bergman projection on (p,q)-forms. We also show that compactness of the commutator of the Bergman projection with functions continuous on the closure percolates up in the dbar-complex on dbar-closed forms and square integrable holomorphic for…
In this paper we study the compactness of operators on the Bergman space of the unit ball and on very generally weighted Bargmann-Fock spaces in terms of the behavior of their Berezin transforms and the norms of the operators acting on reproducing kernels. In particular, in the Bergman space setting we show how a vanishing Berezin transform combined with certain (integral) growth conditions on an operator $T$ are sufficient to imply that the operator is compact. In the weighted Bargmann-Fock space setting we show that the reproducing kernel thesis for compactness holds for operators satisfying…
We study the boundedness and compactness of the generalized Volterra integral operator on weighted Bergman spaces with doubling weights on the unit disk. A generalized Toeplitz operator is defined and the boundedness, compactness and Schatten class of this operator are investigated on the Hilbert weighted Bergman space. As an application, Schatten class membership of generalized Volterra integral operators are also characterized. Finally, we also get the characterizations of Schatten class membership of generalized Toeplitz operator and generalized Volterra integral operators on the Hardy spac…
We study boundedness and compactness of composition operators on weighted Bergman spaces of Dirichlet series. Particularly, we obtain in some specific cases, upper and lower bounds of the essential norm of these operators and a criterion of compactness on classicals weighted Bergman spaces. Moreover, a sufficient condition of compactness is obtained using the notion of Carleson's measure.
In this article we characterize the boundedness and compactness of a Toeplitz-type operator on weighted Bergman spaces satisfying the so-called Bekolle-Bonami condition in terms of the Berezin transform.
We characterize operator-theoretic properties (boundedness, compactness, and Schatten class membership) of Toeplitz operators with positive measure symbols on Bergman spaces of holomorphic hermitian line bundles over Kähler Cartan-Hadamard manifolds in terms of geometric or operator-theoretic properties of measures.
In this paper, the boundedness and compactness of the difference of composition-differentiation operators $D_φ-D_ψ$ acting from Hardy spaces $H^p$ to weighted Bergman spaces $A^q_α$ are completely characterize for all $0<p,q<\infty$.
In this paper, we give some estimates for the essential norm and a new characterization for the boundedness and compactness of weighted composition operators from weighted Bergman spaces and Hardy spaces to the Bloch space.
Let $Ω\subset \mathbb{C}^2$ be a bounded pseudoconvex complete Reinhardt domain with a smooth boundary. We study the behavior of analytic structure in the boundary of $Ω$ and obtain a compactness result for Hankel operators on the Bergman space of $Ω$.
Using recent characterizations of the compactness of composition operators on Hardy-Orlicz and Bergman-Orlicz spaces on the ball, we first show that a composition operator which is compact on every Hardy-Orlicz (or Bergman-Orlicz) space has to be compact on H^{\infty}. Then, we prove that, for each Koranyi region Γ, there exists a map ϕtaking the ball into Γsuch that, C_ϕ is not compact on H^ψ\left(\mathbb{B}_{N}\right), when ψgrows fast. Finally, we give another characterization of the compactness of composition operator on weighted Bergman-Orlicz spaces in terms of an Orlicz "Angular derivat…
The boundedness and compactness of Toeplitz operator from $A_ω^p$ to $A_ω^q$ with doubling weights $ω$ are studied in this paper. The characterizations of Schatten class Toeplitz operators and Volterra operators on $A_ω^2$ are also investigated.
We prove the following localization for compactness of Hankel operators on Bergman spaces. Assume that D is a bounded pseudoconvex domain in C^n, p is a boundary point of D and B(p,r) is a ball centered at p with radius r so that U=D\cap B(p,r) is connected. We show that if the Hankel operator H^D_f is compact on A^2(D) (the symbols f is C^1 on the closure of D) then H^U_f is compact on A^2(U) where A^2(D) and A^2(U) denote the Bergman spaces on D and U, respectively.
We obtain some estimates for norm and essential norm of the difference of two composition operators between weighted Bergman spaces $A^p_α$ and $A^q_β$ on the unit ball. In particular, we completely characterize the boundedness and compactness of $C_φ-C_ψ: A^p_α\to A^q_β$ for full range $0<p,q<\infty$, $-1<α,β<\infty$.
Using the approach based on sesquilinear forms, we introduce Toeplitz operator in the analytic Bergman space on the upper half-plane with strongly singular symbols, derivatives of measures. Conditions for boundedness and compactness of such operators are found. A procedure of reduction of Toeplitz operators in Bergman spaces of polyanalytic functions to operators with singular symbols in the analytic Bergman space by means of the creation-annihilation structure is elaborated, which leads to the description of the properties of the former operators
In this paper, we give a universal description of the boundedness and compactness of Toeplitz operator $\mathcal{T}_μ^ω$ between Bergman spaces $A_η^p$ and $A_\upsilon^q$ when $μ$ is a positive Borel measure, $1<p,q<\infty$ and $ω,η,\upsilon$ are regular weights. By using Khinchin's inequality and Kahane's inequality, we get a new characterization of the Carleson measure for Bergman spaces induced by regular weights.
In this paper, we investigate the boundedness, compactness, essential norm and the Schatten class of weighted composition operators $uC_φ$ on Bergman type spaces $A_ω^p $ with double weight $ω$. Let $X=\{u\in H(D): uC_φ:A_ω^p\to A_ω^p \mbox{ is bounded}\}.$ For some regular weights $ω$, we obtain that $X=H^\infty$ if and only if $φ$ is a finite Blaschke product.
In this paper we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for the canonical solution operator to $\overline \partial $ restricted to radial symmetric Bergman spaces to be a Hilbert-Schmidt operator. We also discuss compactness of the solution operator in spaces of entire functions in one variable. In the sequel we consider several examples and also treat the case of weighted spaces of entire functions in several variables.
This note completely describes the bounded or compact Riemann-Stieltjes integral operators $T_g$ acting between the weighted Bergman space pairs $(A^p_α,A^q_β)$ in terms of particular regularities of the holomorphic symbols $g$ on the open unit ball of $\Bbb C^n$.
In this paper, we present maximal and area integral characterizations of Bergman spaces in the unit ball of $\mathbb{C}^n.$ The characterizations are in terms of maximal functions and area integral functions on Bergman balls involving the radial derivative, the complex gradient, and the invariant gradient. As an application, we obtain new maximal and area integral characterizations of Besov spaces. Moreover, we give an atomic decomposition of real-variable type with respect to Carleson tubes for Bergman spaces.
We study positive Toeplitz operators on the Bergman spaces having the fast decreasing weight functions in a certain class. We give the characterizations for the boundedness and compactness of Toeplitz operators in terms of their Berezin transforms and averaging functions. In particular, we show the equivalent conditions in order that Toeplitz operators on $A^2(ω)$ belong to the Schatten class $S_p$, $0<p<\infty$.
We consider a class of two-parameter weighted integral operators induced by harmonic Bergman-Besov kernels on the unit ball of $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ and characterize precisely those that are bounded from Lebesgue spaces $L^{p}_α$ into Harmonic Bergman-Besov $b^{q}_β$ or weighted Bloch Spaces $b^{\infty}_β $, for $1\leq p\leq\infty$, $1\leq q< \infty$ and $α,β\in \mathbb{R}$. These operators can be viewed as generalizations of the harmonic Bergman-Besov projections. Also, our results remove the disturbing conditions $β>-1$ when $q<\infty$ and $β\geq 0$ when $q=\infty$ of Doğan (A Class of Integral O…
We study the so-called integral means spectrum for univalent functions on the unit disk. Using an inequality of Prawitz (generalizing the classical area theorem of Gronwall), we find -- by applying a Moebius mapping to lift the result to the bidisk -- that it is possible to obtain rather strong estimates from above on the integral means spectrum.
In this paper, we give a survey of results obtained recently by the present authors on real-variable characterizations of Bergman spaces, which are closely related to maximal and area integral functions in terms of the Bergman metric. In particular, we give a new proof of those results concerning area integral characterizations through using the method of vector-valued Calderón-Zygmund operators to handle Bergman singular integral operators on the complex ball. The proofs involve some sharp estimates of the Bergman kernel function and Bergman metric.
For $-1<α<\infty$, let $ω_α(z)=(1+α)(1-|z|^2)^α$ be the standard weight on the unit disk. In this note, we provide descriptions of the boundedness and compactness for the Toeplitz operators $T_{μ,β}$ between distinct weighted Bergman spaces $L_{a}^{p}(ω_α)$ and $L_{a}^{q}(ω_β)$ when $0<p\leq1$, $q=1$, $-1<α,β<\infty$ and $0<p\leq 1<q<\infty, -1<β\leqα<\infty$, respectively. Our results can be viewed as extensions of Pau and Zhao's work in \cite{Pau}. Moreover, partial of main results are new even in the unweighted settings.
Using an integral formula on a homogeneous Siegel domain, we show a necessary and sufficient condition for composition operators on the weighted Bergman space of a minimal bounded homogeneous domain to be compact. To describe the compactness of composition operators, we see a boundary behavior of the Bergman kernel.
We study the restriction operator from the Bergman space of a domain in $\mathbb{C}^n$ to the Bergman space of a non-empty open subset of the domain. We relate the restriction operator to the Toeplitz operator on the Bergman space of the domain whose symbol is the characteristic function of the subset. Using the biholomorphic invariance of the spectrum of the associated Toeplitz operator, we study the restriction operator from the Bergman space of the unit disc to the Bergman space of subdomains with large symmetry groups, such as horodiscs and subdomains bounded by hypercycles. Furthermore, w…
The purpose of this paper is to study sparse domination estimates of composition operators in the setting of complex function theory. The method originates from proofs of the $A_2$ theorem for Calderón-Zygmund operators in harmonic analysis. Using this tool from harmonic analysis, some new characterizations are given for the boundedness and compactness of weighted composition operators acting between weighted Bergman spaces in the upper half plane. Moreover, we establish a new weighted type estimate for the holomorphic Bergman-class functions, for a new class of weights, which is adapted to Sa…
Let $ϕ$ be an analytic self-map of the open unit disk $\mathbb{D}$ and $g$ analytic in $\mathbb{D}$. We characterize boundedness and compactness of generalized Volterra type integral operators $$GI_{(ϕ,g)}f(z)= \int_{0}^{z}f'(ϕ(ξ))\,g(ξ)\, dξ$$ and $$GV_{ (ϕ, g)}f(z)= \int_{0}^{z} f(ϕ(ξ))\,g(ξ)\, dξ, $$ acting between large Bergman spaces $A^p_ω$ and $A^q_ω$ for $0<p,q\le \infty$. To prove our characterizations, which involve Berezin type integral transforms, we use the Littlewood-Paley formula of Constantin and Peláez and establish corresponding embedding theorems, which are also of independe…
This is our third work on Bergman-type operator over bounded domains. In the previous two articles, we systematically study the boundedness, compactness and Schatten membership of Bergman-type on the Hilbert unit ball. In the present paper, we investigate singular integral operators induced by the Bergman kernel and Szegö kernel on the irreducible bounded symmetric domain in its standard Harish-Chandra realization. We completely characterize when Bergman-type operators and Szegö-type operators belong to Schatten class operator ideals by several analytic numerical invariants of the bounded symm…
In this paper we study the Bergman-Toeplitz operator $T_ψ$ induced by $ψ(w) = K_Ω^{-α}(w,w)d_Ω^β(w)$ with $α, β\geq 0$ acting from a weighted $L^p$-space $L_a^p(Ω)$ to another one $L_a^q(Ω)$ on a large class of pseudoconvex domains of finite type. In the case $1 < p \leq q < \infty$, the following results are established: \\ - Necessary and sufficient conditions for boundedness, which generalize the recent results obtained by Khanh, Liu and Thuc.\\ - Upper and lower estimates for essential norm, in particular, a criterion for compactness.\\ - A characterization of Schatten class membership of …
Let D be a piecewise smooth bounded convex Reinhardt domain in C^2. Assume that the symbols f and g are continuous on the closure of D and harmonic on the disks in the boundary of D. We show that if the product of Hankel operators H^*_f H_g is compact on the Bergman space of D, then on any disk in the boundary of D, either f or g is holomorphic.
In this paper, a family of holomorphic spaces of tent type in the unit ball of $\mathbb{C}^n$ is introduced, which is closely related to maximal and area integral functions in terms of the Bergman metric. It is shown that these spaces coincide with Bergman spaces. Furthermore, Littlewood-Paley type $g$-functions for the Bergman spaces are introduced in terms of the radial derivative, the complex gradient, and the invariant gradient. The corresponding characterizations for Bergman spaces are obtained as well. As an application, we obtain new maximal and area integral characterizations for Hardy…
The boundedness and compactness of weighted composition operators on the Hardy space ${\mathcal H}^2$ of the unit disc is analysed. Particular reference is made to the case when the self-map of the disc is an inner function. Schatten-class membership is also considered; as a result, stronger forms of the two main results of a recent paper of Gunatillake are derived. Finally, weighted composition operators on weighted Bergman spaces $\mathcal{A}^2 α(\mathbb{D})$ are considered, and the results of Harper and Smith, linking their properties to those of Carleson embeddings, are extended to this si…
This paper is devoted to the study of the weighted Bergman space $A_ω^p $ in the unit ball $\mathbb{B}$ of $\mathbb{C}^n$ with doubling weight $ω$ satisfying $$\int_r^1ω(t)dt <C \int_{\frac{1+r}{2}}^1ω(t)dt ,\,\, 0\leq r<1.$$ The $q-$Carleson measures for $A_ω^p$ are characterized in terms of a neat geometric condition involving Carleson block. Some equivalent characterizations for $A_ω^p$ are obtained by using the radial derivative and admissible approach regions. The boundedness and compactness of Volterra integral operator $T_g:A_ω^p\to A_ω^q$ are also investigated in this paper with $0<p\l…
We construct an analytic self-map $ϕ$ of the unit disk and an Orlicz function $Ψ$ for which the composition operator of symbol $ϕ$ is compact on the Hardy-Orlicz space $H^Ψ$, but not compact on the Bergman-Orlicz space ${\mathfrak B}^Ψ$. For that, we first prove a Carleson embedding theorem, and then characterize the compactness of composition operators on Bergman-Orlicz spaces, in terms of Carleson function (of order 2). We show that this Carleson function is equivalent to the Nevanlinna counting function of order 2.
We study the Carleson measures and the Toeplitz operators on the class of so-called small weighted Bergman spaces, introduced recently by Seip. A characterization of Carleson measures is obtained which extends Seip's results from the unit disc of $\mathbb C$ to the unit ball of $\mathbb C^n$. We use this characterization to give necessary and sufficient conditions for the boundedness and compactness of Toeplitz operators. Finally, we study the Schatten $p$ classes membership of Toeplitz operators for $1<p<\infty$.
It is known, from results of B. MacCluer and J. Shapiro (1986), that every composition operator which is compact on the Hardy space $H^p$, $1 \leq p < \infty$, is also compact on the Bergman space ${\mathfrak B}^p = L^p_a (\D)$. In this survey, after having described the above known results, we consider Hardy-Orlicz $H^Ψ$ and Bergman-Orlicz ${\mathfrak B}^Ψ$ spaces, characterize the compactness of their composition operators, and show that there exist Orlicz functions for which there are composition operators which are compact on $H^Ψ$ but not on ${\mathfrak B}^Ψ$.
In this paper, we study the boundedness and the compactness of the little Hankel operators $h_b$ with operator-valued symbols $b$ between different weighted vector-valued Bergman spaces on the open unit ball $\mathbb{B}_n$ in $\mathbb{C}^n.$ More precisely, given two complex Banach spaces $X,Y,$ and $0 < p,q \leq 1,$ we characterize those operator-valued symbols $b: \mathbb{B}_{n}\rightarrow \mathcal{L}(\overline{X},Y)$ for which the little Hankel operator $h_{b}: A^p_α(\mathbb{B}_{n},X) \longrightarrow A^q_α(\mathbb{B}_{n},Y),$ is a bounded operator. Also, given two reflexive complex Banach s…
The purpose of this paper is to systematically study compactness and essential norm properties of operators on a very general class of weighted Fock spaces over $\C$. In particular, we obtain rather strong necessary and sufficient conditions for a wide class of operators (which includes operators in the Toeplitz algebra generated by bounded symbols) to be compact and we obtain related estimates on the essential norm of such operators. Finally, we discuss interesting open problems related to our results, and in particular discuss the possibility of extending our results to other generally weigh…
We characterize the weights for which we have the boundedness of standard weighted integral operators induced by the Bergman-Besov kernels acting between two general weighted Lebesgue classes on the unit ball of $\mathbb{C}^N$ in terms of Békollé - Bonami type condition on the weights. To accomplish this we employ the proof strategy originated by Békollé.
We study the boundedness of Toeplitz operators $T_ψ$ with locally integrable symbols on weighted harmonic Bergman spaces over the unit ball of $\mathbb{R}^n$. Generalizing earlier results for analytic function spaces, we derive a general sufficient condition for the boundedness of $T_ψ$ in terms of suitable averages of its symbol. We also obtain a similar "vanishing" condition for compactness. Finally, we show how these results can be transferred to the setting of the standard weighted Bergman spaces of analytic functions.
