Inspired by the work in \cite{sauer} regarding the classification of all the zero-divisor graphs with six vertices, we obtain all the zero-divisor graphs with seven vertices. Hence we classify all the zero-divisor commutative semigroups with 8 elements. We also obtain all the connected graphs with seven vertices which satisfies the necessary condition $\star$ of zero-divisor graphs given in \cite{fl} but are not the zero-divisor graphs.
In this paper, we study the minimum rank among positive semidefinite matrices with a given graph of at most seven vertices (msr) by giving vector representations.
The proper divisor graph $Υ_n$ of a positive integer $n$ is the simple graph whose vertices are the proper divisors of $n$, and in which two distinct vertices $u, v$ are adjacent if and only if $n$ divides $uv$. The graph $Υ_n$ plays an important role in the study of the zero divisor graph of the ring $\mathbb{Z}_n$. In this paper, we study some graph theoretic properties of $Υ_n$ and determine the graph parameters such as clique number, chromatic number, chromatic index, independence number, matching number, domination number, vertex and edge covering numbers of $Υ_n$. We also determine the a…
This paper is an endeavor to discuss some properties of zero-divisor graphs of the ring $\mathbb{Z}_n$, the ring of integers modulo $n$. The zero divisor graph of a commutative ring $R$, is an undirected graph whose vertices are the nonzero zero-divisors of $R$, where two distinct vertices are adjacent if their product is zero. The zero divisor graph of $R$ is denoted by $Γ(R)$. We discussed $Γ(\mathbb{Z}_n)$'s by the attributes of completeness, k-partite structure, complete k-partite structure, regularity, chordality, $γ- β$ perfectness, simplicial vertices. The clique number for arbitrary $Γ…
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with non-zero identity. The cozero-divisor graph of $R$, denoted by $Γ^{\prime}(R)$, is a graph with vertices in $W^*(R)$, which is the set of all non-zero and non-unit elements of $R$, and two distinct vertices $a$ and $b$ in $W^*(R)$ are adjacent if and only if $a\not\in Rb$ and $b\not\in Ra$. In this paper, we show that the cozero-divisor graph of a von Neumann regular ring with finite clique number is not only weakly perfect but also perfect. Also, an explicit formula for the clique number is given.
The Zero divisor Graph of a commutative ring $R$, denoted by $Γ[R]$, is a graph whose vertices are non-zero zero divisors of $R$ and two vertices are adjacent if their product is zero. In this paper we derive the Vertex and Edge Connectivity of the zero divisor graph $Γ[\mathbb{Z}_n]$, for any natural number $n$ . We also discuss the minimum degree of the zero divisor graph $Γ[\mathbb{Z}_n]$.
Let $R$ be a ring with unity. The cozero-divisor graph of a ring $R$ is an undirected simple graph whose vertices are the set of all non-zero and non-unit elements of $R$ and two distinct vertices $x$ and $y$ are adjacent if and only if $x \notin Ry$ and $y \notin Rx$. The reduced cozero-divisor graph of a ring $R$, is an undirected simple graph whose vertex set is the set of all nontrivial principal ideals of $R$ and two distinct vertices $(a)$ and $(b)$ are adjacent if and only if $(a) \not\subset (b)$ and $(b) \not\subset (a)$. In this paper, we characterize all classes of finite non-local …
We study the problem of computing the rank of a divisor on a finite graph, a quantity that arises in the Riemann-Roch theory on a finite graph developed by Baker and Norine (Advances of Mathematics, 215(2): 766-788, 2007). Our work consists of two parts: the first part is an algorithm whose running time is polynomial for a multigraph with a fixed number of vertices. More precisely, our algorithm has running time O(2^{n \log n})poly(size(G)), where n+1 is the number of vertices of the graph G. The second part consists of a new proof of the fact that testing if rank of a divisor is non-negative …
The $k$-deck of a graph is the multiset of its subgraphs induced by $k$ vertices. A graph or graph property is $l$-reconstructible if it is determined by the deck of subgraphs obtained by deleting $l$ vertices. We show that the degree list of an $n$-vertex graph is $3$-reconstructible when $n\ge7$, and the threshold on $n$ is sharp. Using this result, we show that when $n\ge7$ the $(n-3)$-deck also determines whether an $n$-vertex graph is connected; this is also sharp. These results extend the results of Chernyak and Manvel, respectively, that the degree list and connectedness are $2$-reconst…
Let $G=(V,E)$ be a simple graph. A set $S\subseteq V$ is independent set of $G$, if no two vertices of $S$ are adjacent. The independence number $α(G)$ is the size of a maximum independent set in the graph. %An independent set with cardinality Let $R$ be a commutative ring with nonzero identity and $I$ an ideal of $R$. The zero-divisor graph of $R$, denoted by $Γ(R)$, is an undirected graph whose vertices are the nonzero zero-divisors of $R$ and two distinct vertices $x$ and $y$ are adjacent if and only if $xy = 0$. Also the ideal-based zero-divisor graph of $R$, denoted by $Γ_I(R)$, is the gr…
The Zero divisor Graph of a commutative ring $R$, denoted by $Γ[R]$, is a graph whose vertices are non-zero zero divisors of $R$ and two vertices are adjacent if their product is zero. In this paper, we consider the zero divisor graph $Γ[\mathbb{Z}_n]$ for $n=p^3$ and $n=p^2q$ with $p$ and $q$ primes. We discuss the adjacency matrix and eigenvalues of the zero divisor graph $Γ[\mathbb{Z}_n]$. We also calculate the energy of the graph $Γ[\mathbb{Z}_n]$.

Let $R$ be a ring with unity. The cozero-divisor graph of a ring $R$, denoted by $Γ'(R)$, is an undirected simple graph whose vertices are the set of all non-zero and non-unit elements of $R$, and two distinct vertices $x$ and $y$ are adjacent if and only if $x \notin Ry$ and $y \notin Rx$. In this article, we extend some of the results of [24] to an arbitrary ring. In this connection, we derive a closed-form formula of the Wiener index of the cozero-divisor graph of a finite commutative ring $R$. As applications, we compute the Wiener index of $Γ'(R)$, when either $R$ is the product of ring o…
We give necessary and sufficient conditions under which the Jacobian of a graph is generated by a divisor that is the difference of two vertices. This answers a question posed by Becker and Glass and allows us to prove various other propositions about the order of divisors that are the difference of two vertices. We conclude with some conjectures about these divisors on random graphs and support them with empirical evidence.
The power graph $\mathcal{P}(G)$ of a finite group $G$ is the simple undirected graph whose vertex set is $G$, in which two distinct vertices are adjacent if one of them is an integral power of the other. For an integer $n\geq 2$, let $C_n$ denote the cyclic group of order $n$ and let $r$ be the number of distinct prime divisors of $n$. The minimum degree $δ(\mathcal{P}(C_n))$ of $\mathcal{P}(C_n)$ is known for $r\in\{1,2\}$, see [18]. For $r\geq 3$, under certain conditions involving the prime divisors of $n$, we identify at most $r-1$ vertices such that $δ(\mathcal{P}(C_n))$ is equal to the …
The divisor theory of graphs views a finite connected graph $G$ as a discrete version of a Riemann surface. Divisors on $G$ are formal integral combinations of the vertices of $G$, and linear equivalence of divisors is determined by the discrete Laplacian operator for $G$. As in the case of Riemann surfaces, we are interested in the complete linear system $|D|$ of a divisor $D$---the collection of nonnegative divisors linearly equivalent to $D$. Unlike the case of Riemann surfaces, the complete linear system of a divisor on a graph is always finite. We compute generating functions encoding the…
The Fano plane is the unique linear 3-uniform hypergraph on seven vertices and seven hyperedges. It was recently proved that, for all $n \geq 8$, the balanced complete bipartite 3-uniform hypergraph on $n$ vertices, denoted by $B_n$, is the 3-uniform hypergraph on $n$ vertices with the largest number of hyperedges that does not contain a copy of the Fano plane. For sufficiently large $r$ and $n$, we show that $B_n$ admits the largest number of $r$-edge colorings with no rainbow copy of the Fano plane.
We investigate eigenvalues of the zero-divisor graph $Γ(R)$ of finite commutative rings $R$ and study the interplay between these eigenvalues, the ring-theoretic properties of $R$ and the graph-theoretic properties of $Γ(R)$. The graph $Γ(R)$ is defined as the graph with vertex set consisting of all non-zero zero-divisors of $R$ and adjacent vertices $x,y$ whenever $xy = 0$. We provide formulas for the nullity of $Γ(R)$, i.e. the multiplicity of the eigenvalue 0 of $Γ(R)$. Moreover, we precisely determine the spectra of $Γ(\mathbb Z_p \times \mathbb Z_p \times \mathbb Z_p)$ and $Γ(\mathbb Z_p …
The interplay between groups and graphs have been the most famous and productive area of algebraic graph theory. In this paper, we introduce and study the graphs whose vertex set is group G such that two distinct vertices a and b having different orders are adjacent provided that o(a) divides o(b) or o(b) divides o(a).
The symmetries of a finite graph are described by its automorphism group; in the setting of Woronowicz's quantum groups, a notion of a quantum automorphism group has been defined by Banica capturing the quantum symmetries of the graph. In general, there are more quantum symmetries than symmetries and it is a non-trivial task to determine when this is the case for a given graph: The question is whether or not the algebra associated to the quantum automorphism group is commutative. We use Gröbner base computations in order to tackle this problem; the implementation uses GAP and the SINGULAR pack…
Let R be a finite commutative ring with unity, and let G = (V, E) be a simple graph. The zero-divisor graph, denoted by Γ(R) is a simple graph with vertex set as R, and two vertices x, y \in R are adjacent in Γ(R) if and only if $xy = 0$. In [10], the authors have studied the Laplacian eigenvalues of the graph Γ(Z_n) and for distinct proper divisors d_1, d_2, \dots, d_k of n, they defined the sets as, A_{d_i} = {x \in Zn : (x, n) = d_i}, where (x, n) denotes the greatest common divisor of x and n. In this paper, we show that the sets A_{d_i}, 1 \leq i \leq k are actually orbits of the group ac…
In this paper, first we study the Laplacian spectrum of $Γ'(\mathbb{Z}_n)$. We show that the graph $Γ'(\mathbb{Z}_{pq})$ is Laplacian integral. Further, we obtain the Laplacian spectrum of $Γ'(\mathbb{Z}_n)$ for $n = p^{n_1}q^{n_2}$, where $n_1, n_2 \in \mathbb{N}$ and $p, q$ are distinct primes. In order t…
The vertices of a graph are classified into seven types by J.T. Hedetniemi, S.M. Hedetniemi, S.T. Hedetniemi and T.M. Lewis and they ask the following questions: 1) What is the smallest order $n$ of a graph having $n-2$ very typical vertices or $n-2$ typical vertices? 2) What is the smallest order of a pantypical graph? We answer these two questions in this paper.
In this paper, by developing several new adjacency lemmas about a path on $4$ or $5$ vertices, we show that the average degree of 7-critical graphs is at least 6. It implies Vizing's planar graph conjecture for planar graphs with maximum degree $7$ and its extension to graphs embeddable in a surface with nonnegative Euler characteristic due to Sanders and Zhao (J. Combin. Theory Ser. B 83 (2001) 201-212 and J. Combin. Theory Ser. B 87 (2003) 254-263) and Zhang (Graphs and Combinatorics 16 (2000) 467-495).
The dollar game is a chip-firing game introduced by Baker and Norine (2007) as a context in which to formulate and prove the Riemann-Roch theorem for graphs. A divisor on a graph is a formal integer sum of vertices. Each determines a dollar game, the goal of which is to transform the given divisor into one that is effective (nonnegative) using chip-firing moves. We use Duval, Klivans, and Martin's theory of chip-firing on simplicial complexes to generalize the dollar game and results related to the Riemann-Roch theorem for graphs to higher dimensions. In particular, we extend the notion of the…
A signed graph is a graph whose edges are labeled positive or negative. The sign of a cycle is the product of the signs of its edges. Zaslavsky proved in 2012 that, up to switching isomorphism, there are six different signed Petersen graphs. It is also known that, up to switching isomorphism, there are two signed $K_3$'s, three signed $K_4$'s, and seven signed $K_5$'s. In this paper, we prove that there are sixteen signed $K_6$'s upto switching ismomorphism.
The power graph $\mathcal{P}(G)$ of a group $G$ is the simple graph with vertex set $G$ and two vertices are adjacent whenever one of them is a positive power of the other. In this paper, for a finite noncyclic nilpotent group $G$, we study the minimum degree $δ(\mathcal{P}(G))$ of $\mathcal{P}(G)$. Under some conditions involving the prime divisors of $|G|$ and the Sylow subgroups of $G$, we identify certain vertices associated with the generators of maximal cyclic subgroups of $G$ such that $δ(\mathcal{P}(G))$ is equal to the degree of one of these vertices. As an application, we obtain $δ(\…

Let $S_{\rm div}(n)$ denote the set of permutations $π$ of $n$ such that for each $1\leq j \leq n$ either $j \mid π(j)$ or $π(j) \mid j$. These permutations can also be viewed as vertex-disjoint directed cycle covers of the divisor graph $\mathcal{D}_{[1,n]}$ on vertices $v_1, \ldots, v_n$ with an edge between $v_i$ and $v_j$ if $i\mid j$ or $j \mid i$. We improve on recent results of Pomerance by showing $c_d = \lim_{n \to \infty }\left(\# S_{\rm div}(n)\right)^{1/n}$ exists and that $2.069<c_d<2.694$. We also obtain similar results for the set $S_{\rm lcm}(n)$ of permutations where ${\rm lcm…
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with unity not equal to zero and let $Γ(R)$ be a zero-divisor graph realized by $R$. For a simple, undirected, connected graph $G = (V, E)$, a {\it total perfect code} denoted by $C(G)$ in $G$ is a subset $C(G) \subseteq V(G)$ such that $|N(v) \cap C(G)| = 1$ for all $v \in V(G)$, where $N(v)$ denotes the open neighbourhood of a vertex $v$ in $G$. In this paper, we study total perfect codes in graphs which are realized as zero-divisor graphs. We show a zero-divisor graph realized by a local commutative ring with unity admits a total perfect code if and only if the…

For each graph on two vertices, and each divisor on the graph in the sense of Baker-Norine, we describe a sheaf of vector spaces on a finite category whose zeroth Betti number is the Baker-Norine "Graph Riemann-Roch" rank of the divisor plus one. We prove duality theorems that generalize the Baker-Norine "Graph Riemann-Roch" Theorem.
The concept of gcd-graphs is introduced by Klotz and Sander, which arises as a generalization of unitary Cayley graphs. The gcd-graph $X_n (d_1,...,d_k)$ has vertices $0,1,...,n-1$, and two vertices $x$ and $y$ are adjacent iff $\gcd(x-y,n)\in D = \{d_1,d_2,...,d_k\}$. These graphs are exactly the same as circulant graphs with integral eigenvalues characterized by So. In this paper we deal with the clique number of integral circulant graphs and investigate the conjecture proposed in \cite{klotz07} that clique number divides the number of vertices in the graph $X_n (D)$. We completely solve the…
We prove two results: 1. A graph $G$ on at least seven vertices with a vertex $v$ such that $G-v$ is planar and $t$ triangles satisfies $|E(G)| \leq 3|V(G)|- 9 + t/3$. 2. For $p=2,3,\ldots,9$, a triangle-free graph $G$ on at least $2p-5$ vertices with no $K_p$-minor satisfies $|E(G)|\leq (p-2)|V(G)| - (p-2)^2$.
