In this article, we investigate the initial and boundary blow-up problem for the $p$-Laplacian parabolic equation $u_t-Δ_p u=-b(x,t)f(u)$ over a smooth bounded domain $Ω$ of $\mathbb{R}^N$ with $N\ge2$, where $Δ_pu={\rm div}(|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u)$ with $p>1$, and $f(u)$ is a function of regular variation at infinity. We study the existence and uniqueness of positive solutions, and their asymptotic behaviors near the parabolic boundary.
In this paper, we study existence of boundary blow-up solutions for elliptic equations involving regional fractional Laplacian. We also discuss the optimality of our results.
In this paper, we first establish Hopf's lemmas for parabolic fractional equations and parabolic fractional $p$-equations. Then we derive an asymptotic Hopf's lemma for antisymmetric solutions to parabolic fractional equations. We believe that these Hopf's lemmas will become powerful tools in obtaining qualitative properties of solutions for nonlocal parabolic equations.
We present a blow-up rate estimate for a solution to the parabolic Gross-Pitaevskii and related systems on entire space with Sobolev subcritical nonlinearity. We extend the results of [Y. Giga, S. Matsui and S. Sasayama, Indiana Univ. Math. J. {53} (2004), 483--514] to the parabolic systems.
In this paper, we establish blow-up rates for higher-order semilinear parabolic equations with nonlocal in time nonlinearity with no positive assumption on the solution. We also give Liouville-type theorem for higher-order semilinear parabolic equation with infinite memory nonlinear term which plays the main tools to prove our blow-up rate result. Finally, we study the well-posedness of mild solutions.
It is known that there is a class of semilinear parabolic equations for which interior gradient blow-up (in finite time) occurs for some solutions. We construct a continuation of such solutions after gradient blow-up. This continuation is global in time and we give an example when it never becomes a classical solution again.
In this paper we consider initial boundary value problem for nonlinear nonlocal parabolic equation with absorption under nonlinear nonlocal boundary condition and nonnegative initial datum. We prove comparison principle, global existence and blow-up of solutions.
Local and global properties of minimal solutions for the heat equation generated by the Dirichlet fractional Laplacian negatively perturbed by Hardy's potentials on open subsets of $\R^d$ are analyzed. As a byproduct we obtain instantaneous blow-up of nonnegative solutions in the supercritical case.
In this paper we consider the parabolic-parabolic Patlak-Keller-Segel models in $\mathbb{T}\times\mathbb{R}$ with advection by a large strictly monotone shear flow. Without the shear flow, the model is $L^1$ critical in two dimensions with critical mass $8π$: solutions with mass less than $8π$ are global in time and there exist solutions with mass larger than $8 π$ which blow up in finite time \cite{Schweyer14}. We show that the additional shear flow, if it is chosen sufficiently large, suppresses one dimension of the dynamics and hence can suppress blow-up. In contrast with the parabolic-elli…
In this paper, we consider the solution of a nonlocal parabolic equation. Focusing on the solutions with initial data at high energy level, we find the criteria for global existence and finite time blow up for the corresponding solution respectively. Moreover, we prove that there always exists blow up solution with negative Nehari functional no matter how large the energy is.
Let $G=(V,E)$ be a locally finite connected weighted graph, $Δ$ be the usual graph Laplacian. In this paper, we study the blow-up problems for the nonlinear parabolic equation $u_t=Δu + f(u)$ on $G$. The blow-up phenomenons of the equation are discussed in terms of two cases: (i) an initial condition is given; (ii) a Dirichlet boundary condition is given. We prove that if $f$ satisfies appropriate conditions, then the solution of the equation blows up in a finite time.
In this paper, we consider the finite time blow-up results for a parabolic equation coupled with superlinear source term and local linear boundary dissipation. Using a concavity argument, we derive the sufficient conditions for the solutions to blow up in finite time. In particular, we obtain the existence of finite time blow-up solutions with arbitrary high initial energy. We also derive the upper bound and lower bound of the blow up time.
We show a convergence result of the fractional Laplacian for sequences of nonnegative functions without uniform boundedness near infinity. As an application, we construct a sequence of solutions to the fractional Nirenberg problem that blows up in the region where the prescribed functions are negative. This is a different phenomenon from the classical Nirenberg problem.
We investigate the $p-$Laplace heat equation $u_t-Δ_p u=ζ(t)f(u)$ on a bounded smooth domain $Ω\subset\mathbb{R}^N$. Using differential inequalities arguments, we prove blow-up results under suitable conditions on $ζ, f$, and the initial data $u_0$. We also give an upper bound for the blow-up time in each case.
The existence of weak solutions and upper bounds for the blow-up time for time-discrete parabolic-elliptic Keller-Segel models for chemotaxis in the two-dimensional whole space are proved. For various time discretizations, including the implicit Euler, BDF, and Runge-Kutta methods, the same bounds for the blow-up time as in the continuous case are derived by discrete versions of the virial argument. The theoretical results are illustrated by numerical simulations using an upwind finite-element method combined with second-order time discretizations.
We consider a parabolic-type PDE with a diffusion given by a fractional Laplacian operator and with a quadratic nonlinearity of the 'gradient' of the solution, convoluted with a singular term b. Our first result is the well-posedness for this problem: We show existence and uniqueness of a (local in time) mild solution. The main result is about blow-up of said solution, and in particular we find sufficient conditions on the initial datum and on the term b to ensure blow-up of the solution in finite time.
In this paper, we consider a nonlocal parabolic equation associated with initial and Dirichlet boundary conditions. Firstly, we discuss the vacuum isolating behavior of solutions with the help of a family of potential wells. Then we obtain a threshold of global existence and blow up for solutions with critical initial energy. Furthermore, for those solutions satisfy $J(u_0)\leq d$ and $I(u_0)\neq 0$, we show that global solutions decay to zero exponentially as time tends to infinity and the norm of blow-up solutions increase exponentially.
In this paper, we consider a non-local diffusion equation involving the fractional $p(x)$-Laplacian with nonlinearities of variable exponent type. Employing the sub-differential approach we establish the existence of local solutions. By combining the potential well theory with the Nehari manifold, we obtain the existence of global solutions and finite time blow-up of solutions. Moreover, we study the asymptotic stability of global solutions as time goes to infinity in some variable exponent Lebesgue spaces.
We study two toy models obtained after a slight modification of the nonlinearity of the usual doubly parabolic Keller-Segel system. For these toy models, both consisting of a system of two parabolic equations, we establish that for data which are, in a suitable sense, smaller than the diffusion parameter $τ$ in the equation for the chemoattractant, we obtain global solutions, and for some data larger than $τ$ , a finite time blowup. In this way, we check that our size condition for the global existence is sharp for large $τ$ , up to a logarithmic factor.
Let $Ω\ne \emptyset$ be an unbounded open subset of ${\mathbb R}^n$, $n \ge 2$. We obtain blow-up conditions for non-negative solutions of the problem $$ {\mathcal L}_φu \ge F (x, u) \quad \mbox{in } Ω, \quad \left. u \right|_{ \partial Ω } = 0, $$ where $φ$ and $F$ are some function and $$ {\mathcal L}_φu = \operatorname{div} \left( \frac{ φ(|\nabla u|) }{ |\nabla u| } \nabla u \right) $$ is the $φ$-Laplace operator.
We prove interior Hölder estimates for the spatial gradient of viscosity solutions to the parabolic homogeneous $p$-Laplacian equation \[ u_t=|\nabla u|^{2-p} \mbox{ div} (|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u), \] where $1<p<\infty$. This equation arises from tug-of-war-like stochastic games with noise. It can also be considered as the parabolic $p$-Laplacian equation in non divergence form.
We consider the IBVP in exterior domains for the p-Laplacian parabolic system. We prove regularity up to the boundary, extinction properties for p \in ( 2n/(n+2) , 2n/(n+1) ) and exponential decay for p= 2n/(n+1) .
This paper concerns the initial-boundary value problem for a mixed pseudo-parabolic $p$-Laplacian type equation. By constructing a family of potential wells, we first present the explicit expression for the depth of potential well, and then prove the existence, uniqueness and decay estimate of global solutions and the blowup phenomena of solutions with subcritical initial energy. Next, we extend parallelly these results to the critical initial energy. Lastly, the existence, uniqueness and asymptotic behavior of global solutions with supercritical initial energy are proved by further analyzing …
This paper is concerned with the blowup phenomenon of stochastic parabolic equations both on bounded domain and in the whole space. We introduce a new method to study the blowup phenomenon on bounded domain. Comparing with the existing results, we delete the assumption that the solutions to stochastic heat equations are non-negative. Then the blowup phenomenon in the whole space is obtained by using the properties of heat kernel. We obtain that the solutions will blow up in finite time for nontrivial initial data.
In this paper we introduce a natural function class and prove the existence and uniqueness of both nonnegative renormalized solutions and entropy solutions for the fractional p-Laplacian parabolic problem with L^1 data. And moreover, we obtain the equivalence of renormalized solutions and entropy solutions and establish a comparison result.
We consider the nonlinear half laplacian heat equation $$ u_t+(-Δ)^{\frac{1}{2}} u-|u|^{p-1}u=0,\quad \mathbb{R}^n\times (0, T). $$ We prove that all blows-up are type I, provided that $n \leq 4$ and $ 1<p<p_{*} (n)$ where $ p_{*} (n)$ is an explicit exponent which is below $\frac{n+1}{n-1}$, the critical Sobolev exponent. Central to our proof is a Giga-Kohn type monotonicity formula for half laplacian and a Liouville type theorem for self-similar nonlinear heat equation. This is the first instance of a monotonicity formula at the level of the nonlocal equation, without invoking the extension …
Let $Q_{N}$ be $N$-anisotropic Laplacian operator, which contains the ordinary Laplacian operator, $N$-Laplacian operator and anisotropic Laplacian operator. In this paper, we firstly obtain the properties for $Q_{N}$, which contain the weak maximal principle, the comparison principle and the mean value property. Then a priori estimates and blow-up analysis for solutions of $-Q_{N}u=Ve^{u}$ in bounded domain in $\mathbb{R}^{N}$, $N\geq 2$ are established. Finally, the behavior of sole blow-up point is further considered.
We prove local Lipschitz regularity for weak solutions to a class of degenerate parabolic PDEs modeled on the parabolic $p$-Laplacian $$\p_t u= \sum_{i=1}^{2n} X_i (|\nabla_0 u|^{p-2} X_i u),$$ in a cylinder $Ω\times \R^+$, where $Ω$ is domain in the Heisenberg group $\Hn$, and $2\le p \le 4$. The result continues to hold in the more general setting of contact sub-Riemannian manifolds.
We show that the attraction-repulsion chemotaxis system \begin{equation*} \begin{cases} u_t = Δu - χ\nabla\cdot(u\nabla v_1) + ξ\nabla\cdot(u\nabla v_2)\\ \partial_t v_1 = Δv_1 - βv_1 + αu \\ \partial_t v_2 = Δv_2 - δv_2 + γu, \end{cases} \end{equation*} posed with homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions in bounded domains $Ω=B_R \subset \mathbb{R}^3$, $R>0$, admits radially symmetric solutions which blow-up in finite time if it is attraction-dominated in the sense that $χα-ξγ>0$.
