We detail the construction of the most general asymptotically flat, stationary, rotating, non-extremal, dyonic black hole of the four-dimensional N=2 supergravity coupled to 3 vector multiplets that describes the STU model. It generates through U-dualities the most general asymptotically flat, stationary black hole of N=8 supergravity. We develop the solution generating technique based on SO(4,4)/SL(2,R)^4 coset model symmetries, with an emphasis on the 4-fold permutation symmetry of the gauge fields. We indicate how previously known non-extremal and extremal solutions of the STU model are recovered as limiting cases. Several properties of the general black hole solution are discussed, including its thermodynamics, the quadratic mass formula, the Bogomolny-Prasad-Sommerfield limit, the slow and fast extremal rotating limits, its properties in regards to the Kerr/conformal field theory correspondence, its Killing tensors and the separability of geodesic motion and probe scalars.
General $\mathcal{N}=(1,0)$ supergravity-matter systems in six dimensions may be described using one of the two fully fledged superspace formulations for conformal supergravity: (i) $\mathsf{SU}(2)$ superspace; and (ii) conformal superspace. With motivation to develop rigid supersymmetric field theories in curved space, this paper is devoted to the study of the geometric symmetries of supergravity backgrounds. In particular, we introduce the notion of a conformal Killing spinor superfield $ε^α$, which proves to generate extended superconformal transformations. Among its cousins are the conform…
We investigate the hidden symmetries and existence of Killing spinors of D=5 minimal gauged supergravity solutions which admit a Killing-Maxwell system in the sense of Carter, such as the Chong-Cveti$\check{c}$-Lü-Pope (CCLP) Kerr-dS black hole spacetime and a 5-dimensional minimal gauged supergravity solution endowed with a Sasaki structure deformed by torsion, a limiting case of the generalization of the 5-dimensional toric Sasaki-Einstein $L^{a,b,c}$ spacetime. We note that when an electromagnetic tensor is present and an associated Killing-Maxwell system can be constructed in the sense of …
We investigate two types of transformations that keep NS-NS Generalized Supergravity Equations satisfied : $χ$-symmetry that shifts dilaton and gauge transformations that change both dilaton and vector field $J$. Due to these symmetries there is a large set of dilatons and vector fields $J$ that (for a fixed metric and B-field) satisfy Generalized Supergravity Equations but only some of them can be be used as input for Poisson--Lie transformations. Conditions that define the admissible dilatons are given and examples are presented.
We report on recent developments regarding the supersymmetric Free Differential Algebra describing the vacuum structure of $D=11$ supergravity. We focus on the emergence of a hidden superalgebra underlying the theory, explaining the group-theoretical role played by the nilpotent fermionic generator naturally appearing for consistency of the construction. We also discuss the relation between this hidden superalgebra and other superalgebras of particular relevance in the context of supergravity and superstring, involving a fermionic generator with 32 components.
We present a construction of the most general BPS black holes of STU supergravity (${\cal N}=2$ supersymmetric $D=4$ supergravity coupled to three vector super-multiplets) with arbitrary asymptotic values of the scalar fields. These solutions are obtained by acting with a subset of of the global symmetry generators on STU BPS black holes with zero values of the asymptotic scalars, both in the U-duality and the heterotic frame. The solutions are parameterized by fourteen parameters: four electric and four magnetic charges, and the asymptotic values of the six scalar fields. We also present BPS …

In this dissertation we study hidden symmetries within the framework of string theory. There are two kinds of hidden symmetries investigated in this work: the first type is associated with dynamics of quantum fields and the second type is related to integrability of strings on various backgrounds. The goals of this thesis are twofold: extension of hidden symmetries known in general relativity to stringy backgrounds in higher dimensions and construction of new integrable string theories. In the context of the first goal we study hidden symmetries of stringy backgrounds, with and without supersy…
We study correlators of four protected (half-BPS) operators in strongly coupled supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. These are dual to tree-level supergravity amplitudes on AdS${}_5\times$S${}_5$ for various spherical harmonics on the five-sphere. We use conformal field theory methods, in particular a recently obtained Lorentzian inversion formula, to analytically bootstrap these correlators. The extracted $1/N^2$ double-trace anomalous dimensions confirm a simple pattern recently conjectured by Aprile, Drummond, Heslop and Paul. We explain this pattern by an unexpected ten-dimensional conformal …
In four spacetime dimensions, all ${\cal N} =1$ supergravity-matter systems can be formulated in the so-called $\mathsf{U}(1)$ superspace proposed by Howe in 1981. This paper is devoted to the study of those geometric structures which characterise a background $\mathsf{U}(1)$ superspace and are important in the context of supersymmetric field theory in curved space. We introduce (conformal) Killing tensor superfields $\ell_{(α_1 \dots α_m) ({\dot α}_1 \dots {\dot α}_n)}$, with $m$ and $n$ non-negative integers, $m+n>0$, and elaborate on their significance in the following cases: (i) $m=n=1$; (…
