For a toric Calabi-Yau (CY) orbifold $\mathcal{X}$ whose underlying toric variety is semi-projective, we construct and study a non-toric Lagrangian torus fibration on $\mathcal{X}$, which we call the Gross fibration. We apply the Strominger-Yau-Zaslow (SYZ) recipe to the Gross fibration of $\mathcal{X}$ to construct its mirror with the instanton corrections coming from genus 0 open orbifold Gromov-Witten (GW) invariants, which are virtual counts of holomorphic orbi-disks in $\mathcal{X}$ bounded by fibers of the Gross fibration.
We explicitly evaluate all these invariants by first proving an open/closed equality and then employing the toric mirror theorem for suitable toric (partial) compactifications of $\mathcal{X}$. Our calculations are then applied to
(1) prove a conjecture of Gross-Siebert on a relation between genus 0 open orbifold GW invariants and mirror maps of $\mathcal{X}$ -- this is called the open mirror theorem, which leads to an enumerative meaning of mirror maps, and
(2) demonstrate how open (orbifold) GW invariants for toric CY orbifolds change under toric crepant resolutions -- an open analogue of Ruan's crepant resolution conjecture.
SYZ mirror conjecture predicts that a Calabi-Yau manifold $X$ consists of a family of tori which are dual to a family of special lagrangian tori on the mirror dual manifold $\hat{X}$. Here we consider a fibration of polarized abelian varieties and we construct a dual one. Moreover we prove that they are equivalent at the level of derived categories.
For a local Calabi-Yau manifold which is a smoothing of toric Gorenstein singularity, this paper computes the open Gromov-Witten invariants of a generic fiber of the special Lagrangian fibration constructed by Gross and thereby constructs its SYZ mirror. Moreover it derives a relation for the generating function of open Gromov-Witten invariants of the local Calabi-Yau manifold and that of its conifold transition.
Given any smooth cubic curve $E\subseteq \mathbb{P}^2$, we show that the complex affine structure of the special Lagrangian fibration of $\mathbb{P}^2\setminus E$ constructed by Collins--Jacob--Lin arXiv:1904.08363 coincides with the affine structure used in Carl--Pomperla--Siebert for constructing mirror. Moreover, we use the Floer-theoretical gluing method to construct a mirror using immersed Lagrangians, which is shown to agree with the mirror constructed by Carl--Pomperla--Siebert.
We introduce the wrapped Donaldson-Fukaya category of a (generalized) semi-toric SYZ fibration with Lagrangian section satisfying a tameness condition at infinity. Examples include the Gross fibration on the complement of an anti-canonical divisor in a toric Calabi-Yau 3-fold. We compute the wrapped Floer cohomology of a Lagrangian section and find that it is the algebra of functions on the Hori-Vafa mirror. The latter result is the key step in proving homological mirror symmetry for this case. The techniques developed here allow the construction in general of the wrapped Fukaya category on an…
We compute, with Symplectic Field Theory techniques, the Gromov-Witten theory of the complex projective line with orbifold points. A natural subclass of these orbifolds, the ones with polynomial quantum cohomology, gives rise to a family of (polynomial) Frobenius manifolds and integrable systems of Hamiltonian PDEs, which extend the (dispersionless) bigraded Toda hierarchy. We then define a Frobenius structure on the spaces of polynomials in three complex variables of the form F(x,y,z)= -xyz+P_1(x)+P_2(y)+P_3(z) which contains as special cases the ones constructed on the space of Laurent polyn…
We prove that the mirror map is the SYZ map for every toric Calabi-Yau surface. As a consequence one obtains an enumerative meaning of the mirror map. This involves computing genus-zero open Gromov-Witten invariants, which is done by relating them with closed Gromov-Witten invariants via compactification and using an earlier computation by Bryan-Leung.
In this paper, we study the geometry of the SYZ transform on a semi-flat Lagrangian torus fibration. Our starting point is an investigation on the relation between Lagrangian surgery of a pair of straight lines in a symplectic 2-torus and extension of holomorphic vector bundles over the mirror elliptic curve, via the SYZ transform for immersed Lagrangian multi-sections. This study leads us to a new notion of equivalence between objects in the immersed Fukaya category of a general compact symplectic manifold $(M, ω)$, under which the immersed Floer cohomology is invariant; in particular, this p…
In this paper we give a construction of Lagrangian torus fibration for Calabi-Yau hypersurface in toric variety via the method of gradient flow. Using our construction of Lagrangian torus fibration, we are able to prove the symplectic topological version of SYZ mirror conjecture for generic Calabi-Yau hypersurface in toric variety. We will also be able to give precise formulation of SYZ mirror conjecture in general (including singular locus and duality of singular fibres).
We construct a Lagrangian torus fibration on a smooth hypertoric variety and a corresponding SYZ mirror variety using $T$-duality and generating functions of open Gromov-Witten invariants. The variety is singular in general. We construct a resolution using the wall and chamber structure of the SYZ base.
We construct pseudotoric structures (à la Tyurin) on the two-step flag variety $F\ell_{1, n-1; n}$, and explain a general relation between pseudotoric structures and special Lagrangian torus fibrations, the latter of which are important in the study of SYZ mirror symmetry. As an application, we speculate how our constructions can explain the number of terms in the superpotential of Rietsch's Landau-Ginzburg mirror.
In this paper the relations between the existence of Lagrangian fibration of Hyper-Kähler manifolds and the existence of the Large Radius Limit is established. It is proved that if the the rank of the second homology group of a Hyper-Kähler manifold N of complex dimension $2n\geq4$ is at least 5, then there exists an unipotent element T in the mapping class group $Γ$(N) such that its action on the second cohomology group satisfies $(T-id)^{2}\neq0$ and $(T-id)^{3}=0.$ A Theorem of Verbitsky implies that the symmetric power $S^{n}(T)$ acts on $H^{2n}$ and it satisfies $(S^{n}% (T)-id)^{2n}\neq0…
We consider mirror symmetry for (essentially arbitrary) hypersurfaces in (possibly noncompact) toric varieties from the perspective of the Strominger-Yau-Zaslow (SYZ) conjecture. Given a hypersurface $H$ in a toric variety $V$ we construct a Landau-Ginzburg model which is SYZ mirror to the blowup of $V\times\mathbb{C}$ along $H\times 0$, under a positivity assumption. This construction also yields SYZ mirrors to affine conic bundles, as well as a Landau-Ginzburg model which can be naturally viewed as a mirror to $H$. The main applications concern affine hypersurfaces of general type, for which…
Gross and Siebert identified a class of singular Lagrangian torus fibrations which arise when smoothing toroidal degenerations, and which come in pairs that are related by mirror symmetry. We identify an immersed Lagrangian in each of these local models which supports a moduli space of objects that is isomorphic to the mirror space, and prove a homological mirror statement along the way.
In this survey paper, we briefly review various aspects of the SYZ approach to mirror symmetry for non-Calabi-Yau varieties, focusing in particular on Lagrangian fibrations and wall-crossing phenomena in Floer homology. Various examples are presented, some of them new.
We carry out the SYZ program for the local Calabi--Yau manifolds of type $\widetilde{A}$ by developing an equivariant SYZ theory for the toric Calabi--Yau manifolds of infinite-type. Mirror geometry is shown to be expressed in terms of the Riemann theta functions and generating functions of open Gromov--Witten invariants, whose modular properties are found and studied in this article. Our work also provides a mathematical justification for a mirror symmetry assertion of the physicists Hollowood--Iqbal--Vafa.
We establish a product formula for Gromov-Witten invariants for closed, connected, relatively semi-positive Hamiltonian fibrations over any symplectic base. Furthermore, we show that the fibration projection induces a locally trivial (orbi-)fibration map from the moduli space of pseudo-holomorphic maps with marked points in the total space of the Hamiltonian fibration to the corresponding moduli space of pseudo-holomorphic maps with marked points in the base. We use this induced map to recover the product formula by means of integration. Finally, we give applications to c-splitting and symplec…
We investigate mirror symmetry for toric Calabi-Yau manifolds from the perspective of the SYZ conjecture. Starting with a non-toric special Lagrangian torus fibration on a toric Calabi-Yau manifold $X$, we construct a complex manifold $\check{X}$ using T-duality modified by quantum corrections. These corrections are encoded by Fourier transforms of generating functions of certain open Gromov-Witten invariants. We conjecture that this complex manifold $\check{X}$, which belongs to the Hori-Iqbal-Vafa mirror family, is inherently written in canonical flat coordinates. In particular, we obtain an…
Simon Donaldson and Ivan Smith recently studied symplectic surfaces in symplectic 4-manifolds X by introducing an invariant DS associated to any Lefschetz fibration on blowups of X which counts holomorphic sections of a relative Hilbert scheme that is constructed from the fibration. Smith has shown that DS satisfies a duality relation identical to that satisfied by the Gromov invariant Gr introduced by Clifford Taubes, which led Smith to conjecture that DS=Gr provided that the fibration has high enough degree. This paper proves that conjecture. The crucial technical ingredient is an argument w…
We discuss various topics on degenerations and special Lagrangian torus fibrations of Calabi-Yau manifolds in the context of mirror symmetry. A particular emphasis is on Tyurin degenerations and the Doran-Harder-Thompson conjecture, which builds a bridge between mirror symmetry for Calabi-Yau manifolds and that for quasi-Fano manifolds. The proof of the conjecture is of interest in its own right and leads us to a few other related topics such as SYZ mirror symmetry, theta functions and geometric quantization. Inspired by the conjecture, we also propose a new construction of Landau-Ginzburg mod…
For the sake of hyperk{ä}hler SYZ conjecture, finding holomorphic Lagrangian fibrations becomes an important issue. Toric hyperk{ä}hler manifolds are real dimension $4n$ non-compact hyperk{ä}hler manifolds which are quaternion analog of toric varieties. The $n$ dimensional residue circle action on it admitting a hyperk{ä}hler moment map. We use the complex part of this moment map to construct a holomorphic Lagrangian fibration with generic fiber diffeomorphic to $(\mathbb{C}^*)^n$, and study the singular fibers.
Motivated by observations in physics, mirror symmetry is the concept that certain manifolds come in pairs $X$ and $Y$ such that the complex geometry on $X$ mirrors the symplectic geometry on $Y$. It allows one to deduce symplectic information about $Y$ from known complex properties of $X$. Strominger-Yau-Zaslow arXiv:hep-th/9606040 described how such pairs arise geometrically as torus fibrations with the same base and related fibers, known as SYZ mirror symmetry. Kontsevich arXiv:alg-geom/9411018 conjectured that a complex invariant on $X$ (the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves) sho…
Given any equivariant coherent sheaf $\mathcal L$ on a compact semi-positive toric orbifold $\mathcal X$, its SYZ T-dual mirror dual is a Lagrangian brane in the Landau-Ginzburg mirror. We prove the oscillatory integral of the equivariant superpotential in the Landau Ginzburg mirror over this Lagrangian brane is the genus-zero $1$-descendant Gromov-Witten potential with a Gamma-type class of $\mathcal L$ inserted.
In this thesis, we study a class of special Lagrangian submanifolds of toric Calabi-Yau manifolds and construct their mirrors using some techniques developed in the SYZ programme. We present a justification on the conjecture on the mirror construction of D- branes in Aganagic-Vafa [2]. We apply the techniques employed in Chan-Lau-Leung [8] and Chan [6], which give the SYZ mirror construction for D-branes. Recently, Chan-Lau-Leung [8] has given an explicit mirror construction for toric Calabi-Yau manifolds as complex algebraic varieties. Inspired by the SYZ transformation of D-branes in Leung-Y…
Our aim in this work is to study a system of equations which generalises at the same time the vortex equations of Yang-Mills-Higgs theory and the holomorphicity equation in Gromov theory of pseudoholomorphic curves. We extend some results and definitions from both theories to a common setting. We introduce a functional generalising Yang-Mills-Higgs functional, whose minima coincide with the solutions to our equations. We prove a Hitchin-Kobayashi correspondence allowing to study the solutions of the equations in the Kaehler case. We give a structure of smooth manifold to the set of (gauge equi…

Initiated by Gromov, the study of holomorphic curves in symplectic manifolds has been a powerfull tool in symplectic topology, however the moduli space of holomorphic curves is often very difficult to find. A common technique is to study the limiting behavior of holomorphic curves in a degenerating family of complex structures which corresponds to a kind of adiabatic limit. The category of exploded fibrations is an extension of the smooth category in which some of these degenerations can be described as smooth families. The first part of this paper is devoted to defining exploded fibrations an…
We use the wall-crossing formula in the non-archimedean SYZ mirror construction (arXiv: 2003.06106) to compute the Landau-Ginzburg superpotential and the one-pointed open Gromov-Witten invariants for a Chekanov-type Lagrangian torus in any smooth toric Fano compactification of C^n. It agrees with the works of Auroux, Chekanov-Schlenk, and Pascaleff-Tonkonog.

This survey was written for the Current Developments in Mathematics conference, 2012, and is an updating of my article "The Strominger-Yau-Zaslow conjecture: From torus fibrations to degenerations," in the Seattle 2005 proceedings. We trace progress and thinking about the SYZ conjecture since its introduction in 1996. We begin with the original differential geometric conjecture and its refinements, and explain how it led to the algebro-geometric program developed by myself and Siebert. After explaining the overall philosophy, I explain how recent results fit into this program.
We study Lagrangian cobordisms with the tools provided by Lagrangian quantum homology. In particular, we develop the theory for the setting of Lagrangian cobordisms or Lagrangians with cylindrical ends in a Lefschetz fibration, and put the different versions of the quantum homology groups into relation by a long exact sequence. We prove various practical relations of maps in this long exact sequence and we extract invariants that generalize the notion of discriminants to Lagrangian cobordisms in Lefschetz fibrations. We prove results on the relation of the discriminants of the ends of a cobord…
We construct Lagrangian sections of a Lagrangian torus fibration on a 3-dimensional conic bundle, which are SYZ dual to holomorphic line bundles over the mirror toric Calabi-Yau 3-fold. We then demonstrate a ring isomorphism between the wrapped Floer cohomology of the zero-section and the regular functions on the mirror toric Calabi-Yau 3-fold. Furthermore, we show that in the case when the Calabi-Yau 3-fold is affine space, the zero section generates the wrapped Fukaya category of the mirror conic bundle. This allows us to complete the proof of one direction of homological mirror symmetry for…
Consider a Maslov zero Lagrangian submanifold diffeomorphic to a Lie group on which an anti-symplectic involution acts by the inverse map of the group. We show that the Fukaya $A_\infty$ endomorphism algebra of such a Lagrangian is quasi-isomorphic to its de Rham cohomology tensored with the Novikov field. In particular, it is unobstructed, formal, and its Floer and de Rham cohomologies coincide. Our result implies that the smooth fibers of a large class of singular Lagrangian fibrations are unobstructed and their Floer and de Rham cohomologies coincide. This is a step in the SYZ and family Fl…
