A group-theoretical connection between horizontal symmetry $\G$ and fermion mixing is established, and applied to neutrino mixing. The group-theoretical approach is consistent with a dynamical theory based on $U(1)\times \G$, but the dynamical theory can be used to pick out the most stable mixing that purely group-theoretical considerations cannot. A symmetry common to leptons and quarks is also discussed. This higher symmetry picks $A_4$ over $S_4$ to be the preferred symmetry for leptons.
We present a novel procedure for identifying discrete, leptonic flavour symmetries, given a class of unitary mixing matrices. By creating explicit 3D representations for generators of residual symmetries in both the charged lepton and neutrino sector, we reconstruct large(r) non-abelian flavour groups using the GAP language for computational finite algebra. We use experimental data to construct only those generators that yield acceptable (or preferable) mixing patterns. Such an approach is advantageous because it 1) can reproduce known groups from other 'top-down' scans while elucidating their…
We compute the one-loop contributions from a color octet scalar to the tensor anomalous couplings of top and bottom quarks to gluons, photons and W bosons. We use known constraints on the parameters of the model to compare the predicted size of these couplings with existing phenomenological constraints.
一个通用的问题(\textit{Why does the top Yukawa coupling equal one?})的Top-mode/Topcolor类的模型指出,以及。此外,还讨论了在Topcolor精神下,第三代弱偶夸克跷跷板机制和动力学top质量产生的工作。
In top-bottom seesaw and topflavor model, there may exist extra Higgses and vectorlike fermions, and we have examined the W mass anomaly reported by CDF II in these frames. We found that the CDF II W-boson mass data constrains the parameter r_t and z_t strictly in the two models, respectively, while the constraints on other parameters such as m_H, m_χare quite weak. Therefore, we conclude that in the two models, the W mass increment is sensitive to the extra fermions, but not the extra scalars. In topflavor model, we also consider the W mass increment induced by the mass mixing of the light an…
In some extensions of the Standard Model, Yukawa couplings of the physical Higgs boson can be deviated from those in the Standard Model. We study a possibility whether or not such anomalous Yukawa couplings are consistent with the LHC Run 1 data. It is found that sizable deviations of top and bottom (and tau) Yukawa couplings from the Standard Model predictions can nicely fit the data. New physics beyond the Standard Model can be revealed through more precise measurements of such anomalous Yukawa couplings at the LHC Run 2 in the near future. We also discuss a simple setup which can leads to a…
We study the relationship between the $\overline{\mathrm{MS}}$ Yukawa coupling and the pole mass for the bottom and top quarks at the two-loop electroweak order ${\cal O}(α^2)$ in the gaugeless limit of the standard model. We also consider the $\overline{\mathrm{MS}}$ to pole mass relationships at this order, which include tadpole contributions to ensure the gauge independence of the $\overline{\mathrm{MS}}$ masses. In order to suppress numerically large tadpole contributions, we propose a redefinition of the running heavy-quark mass in terms of the $\overline{\mathrm{MS}}$ Yukawa coupling. We…
We compute next-to-leading order QCD corrections to the top-bottom interference contribution to H+j production at the LHC. To achieve this, we combine the recent computation of the two-loop amplitudes for gg -> Hg and qg -> Hq, performed in the approximation of a small b-quark mass, and the numerical calculation of the squared one-loop amplitudes for gg -> Hgg and qg -> Hqg performed within OpenLoops. We find that QCD corrections to the interference are large and similar to the QCD corrections to the top-mediated Higgs production cross section. We also observe a significant reduction in the ma…
We consider composite two-Higgs doublet models based on gauge-Yukawa theories with strongly interacting fermions generating the top-bottom mass hierarchy. The model features a single "universal" Higgs-Yukawa coupling, $ g $, which is identified with the top quark $ g\equiv g_t \sim \mathcal{O}(1) $. The top-bottom mass hierarchy arises by soft breaking of a $ \mathbb{Z}_2 $ symmetry by a condensate of strongly interacting fermions. A mass splitting between vector-like masses of the confined techni-fermions controls this top-bottom mass hierarchy. This mechanism can be present in a variety of m…
In this letter we present the results of the exact computation of contributions to the Higgs boson decay into bottom quarks that are proportional to the top Yukawa coupling. Our computation demonstrates that approximate results already available in the literature turn out to be particularly accurate for the three physical mass values of the Higgs boson, the bottom and top quarks. Furthermore, contrary to expectations, the impact of these corrections on differential distributions relevant for the searches of the Higgs boson decaying into bottom quarks at the Large Hadron Collider is rather smal…
We study the inclusive production of bottom-flavored hadrons from semileptonic decays of polarized top quarks at next-to-leading order in QCD using fragmentation functions recently determined from a global fit to $e^+e^-$ data. We provide the relevant differential decay widths at parton level in analytic form. These results fill an important gap in the theoretical interpretation of recent measurements of the top-quark polarization and the $t\bar{t}$ spin correlations using dilepton final states in proton-proton collisions at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. As an illustration, we study the dist…
The search for Top and Bottom Partners is a major focus of analyses at both the ATLAS and CMS experiments. When singly produced, these vector-like partners of the Standard Model third generation quarks retain a sizeable cross-section that makes them attractive search candidates in their respective topologies. While most efforts have concentrated on the resonant mode for single production of these hypothetical particles, the most dominant mode at narrow widths, recent studies have revealed a wide and rich phenomenology involving the non-resonant diagrams. In this letter we categorically investi…
We consider the decay of a neutral Higgs boson of arbitrary CP nature to a massive quark antiquark pair at next-to-next-to-leading order in perturbative QCD. Our analysis is made at the differential level using the antenna subtraction framework. We apply our general set-up to the decays of a CP-even and CP-odd heavy Higgs boson to a top-quark top-antiquark pair and to the decay of the 125 GeV Higgs boson to a massive bottom-quark bottom-antiquark pair. In the latter case we calculate, in particular, the two-jet, three-jet, and four-jet decay rates and, for two-jet events, the energy distributi…
