We point out that the CPL parametrization has a problem that the equation of state $w(z)$ diverges in the far future, so that this model can only properly describe the past evolution but cannot depict the future evolution. To overcome such a difficulty, in this Letter we propose two novel parametrizations for dark energy, the logarithm form $w(z)=w_0+w_1({\ln (2+z)\over 1+z}-\ln2)$ and the oscillating form $w(z)=w_0+w_1({\sin(1+z)\over 1+z}-\sin(1))$, successfully avoiding the future divergency problem in the CPL parametrization, and use them to probe the dynamics of dark energy in the whole evolutionary history. Our divergency-free parametrizations are proven to be very successful in exploring the dynamical evolution of dark energy and have powerful prediction capability for the ultimate fate of the universe. Constraining the CPL model and the new models with the current observational data, we show that the new models are more favored. The features and the predictions for the future evolution in the new models are discussed in detail.
The CPL parametrization is very important for investigating the property of dark energy with observational data. However, the CPL parametrization only respects the past evolution of dark energy but does not care about the future evolution of dark energy, since $w(z)$ diverges in the distant future. In a recent paper [J.Z. Ma and X. Zhang, Phys.\ Lett.\ B {\bf 699}, 233 (2011)], a robust, novel parametrization for dark energy, $w(z)=w_0+w_1({\ln (2+z)\over 1+z}-\ln2)$, has been proposed, successfully avoiding the future divergence problem in the CPL parametrization. On the other hand, an oscill…
We examine in some detail the influence of the systematics in different data sets including type Ia supernova sample, baryon acoustic oscillation data and the cosmic microwave background information on the fitting results of the Chevallier-Polarski-Linder parametrization. We find that the systematics in the data sets does influence the fitting results and leads to different evolutional behavior of dark energy. To check the versatility of Chevallier-Polarski-Linder parametrization, we also perform the analysis on the Wetterich parametrization of dark energy. The results show that both the param…
Parametrizations of Equation of state parameter as a function of the scale factor or redshift are frequently used in dark energy modeling. The question investigated in this paper is if parametrizations proposed in the literature are compatible with the dark energy being a barotropic fluid. The test of this compatibility is based on the functional form of the speed of sound squared, which for barotropic fluid dark energy follows directly from the function for the Equation of state parameter. The requirement that the speed of sound squared should be between 0 and speed of light squared provides …
In this paper, we propose a new class of parametrization of the equation of state of dark energy. In contrast with the famous CPL parametrization, these new parametrization of the equation of state does not divergent during the evolution of the Universe even in the future. Also, we perform a observational constraint on two simplest dark energy models belonging to this new class of parametrization, by using the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method and the combined latest observational data from the type Ia supernova compilations including Union2(557), cosmic microwave background, and baryon a…
We place observational constraints on models with the late-time cosmic acceleration based on a number of parametrizations allowing fast transitions for the equation of state of dark energy. In addition to the model of Linder and Huterer where the dark energy equation of state $w$ monotonically grows or decreases in time, we propose two new parametrizations in which $w$ has an extremum. We carry out the likelihood analysis with the three parametrizations by using the observational data of supernovae type Ia, cosmic microwave background, and baryon acoustic oscillations. Although the transient c…
The parametrizations $q=q_0+q_1 z$ and $q=q_0+q_1 (1-a/a_0)$ (Chevallier-Polarski-Linder parametrization) of deceleration parameter, which are linear in cosmic redshift $z$ and scale factor $a$, have been frequently utilized in the literature to study kinematics of Universe. In this paper, we follow a strategy that leads to these two well known parametrizations of deceleration parameter as well as an additional new parametrization $q=q_0+q_1(1-t/t_0)$, which is linear in cosmic time $t$. We study the features of this linearly time-varying deceleration parameter in contrast with the other two l…
We propose a new pressure-parametrization model to explain the accelerated expansion of the late-time Universe by considering the dark contents (dark matter and dark energy) as a unified dark fluid. To realize this model more physically, we reconstruct it with the quintessence and phantom scalar fields, respectively. We use the recent cosmological data to constrain this model, distinguish it from the standard cosmological model and find that the value of the Hubble constant $H_0=68.34^{+0.53}_{-0.92}$ supports the global measurement by the Planck satellite at the $1σ$ confidence level.
We propose a new Dark Energy parametrization based on the dynamics of a scalar field. We use an equation of state $w=(x-1)/(x+1)$, with $x=E_k/V$, the ratio of kinetic energy $E_k=\dotϕ^2/2$ and potential $V$. The eq. of motion gives $x=(L/6)(V/3H^2)$ and with a solution $x=([1+2 L/3(1+y)]^{1/2}-1)(1+y)/2$ where $y\equiv \rm/V$ and $L\equiv (V'/V)^2 (1+q)^2,\, q\equiv\ddot\p/V'$. Since the universe is accelerating at present time we use the slow roll approximation in which case we have $|q|\ll 1$ and $L\simeq (V'/V)^2$. However, the derivation of $L$ is exact and has no approximation. By choos…
We explore the ultimate fate of the Universe by using a divergence-free parametrization for dark energy $w(z)=w_0+w_a({\ln (2+z)\over 1+z}-\ln2)$. Unlike the CPL parametrization, this parametrization has well behaved, bounded behavior for both high redshifts and negative redshifts, and thus can genuinely cover many theoretical dark energy models. After constraining the parameter space of this parametrization by using the current cosmological observations, we find that, at the 95.4% confidence level, our Universe can still exist at least 16.7 Gyr before it ends in a big rip. Moreover, for the p…
We further investigate slowing down of acceleration of the universe scenario for five parametrizations of the equation of state of dark energy using four sets of supernovae data. In a maximal probability analysis we also use the baryon acoustic oscillation and cosmic microwave background observations. We found the low redshift transition of the deceleration parameter appears, independently of the parametrization, using supernovae data alone except for the Union 2.1 sample. This feature disappears once we combine the supernova data with high redshift data. We conclude that the rapid variation o…
The absence of compelling theoretical model requires the parameterizing the dark energy to probe its properties. The parametrization of the equation of state of the dark energy is a common method. We explore the theoretical optimization of the parametrization based on the Fisher information matrix. As a suitable parametrization, it should be stable at high redshift and should produce the determinant of the Fisher matrix as large as possible. For the illustration, we propose one parametrization which can satisfy both criteria. By using the proper parametrization, we can improve the constraints …
Dark energy equation of state $w(z)$ parametrizations with two parameters and given monotonicity are generically either convex or concave functions. This makes them suitable for fitting either freezing or thawing quintessence models but not both simultaneously. Fitting a dataset based on a freezing model with an unsuitable (concave when increasing) $w(z)$ parametrization (like CPL) can lead to significant misleading features like crossing of the phantom divide line, incorrect $w(z=0)$, incorrect slope \etc that are not present in the underlying cosmological model. To demonstrate this fact we g…
We introduce a new parametrization for the dark energy, led by the same idea to the linear expansion of the equation of state in scale factor $a$ and in redshift $z$, which diverges neither in the past nor future and contains the same number of degrees of freedom with the former two. We present constraints of the cosmological parameters using the most updated baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) measurements along with cosmic microwave background (CMB) data and a recent reanalysis of Type Ia supernova (SN) data. This new parametrization allowed us to carry out successive observational analyses by…
We propose a model-independent parametrization of dark energy motivated by thermodynamics. To this aim, we consider Padé polynomials to reconstruct the form of deceleration parameter adequate to describe different epochs of cosmic history and divergence-free in the far future. The proposed scenario also fulfills the demand of structure formation and contains the $Λ$CDM model as a limiting case. Thus, a numerical analysis at both background and perturbation levels is performed through the Markov Chain Monte Carlo method in view of the most recent cosmic data. We then use the observational const…
In this paper, we have considered a spatially flat FRW universe filled with pressureless matter and dark energy. We have considered a phenomenological parametrization of the deceleration parameter $q(z)$ and from this we have reconstructed the equation of state for dark energy $ω_ϕ(z)$. This divergence free parametrization of the deceleration parameter is inspired from one of the most popular parametrization of the dark energy equation of state given by Barboza and Alcaniz. Using the combination of datasets (SN Ia $+$ Hubble $+$ BAO/CMB), we have constrained the transition redshift $z_{t}$ (at…
We examine the Chevallier-Polarski-Linder (CPL) parametrization, in the context of quintessence and barotropic dark energy models, to determine the subset of such models to which it can provide a good fit. The CPL parametrization gives the equation of state parameter $w$ for the dark energy as a linear function of the scale factor $a$, namely $w = w_0 + w_a(1-a)$. In the case of quintessence models, we find that over most of the $w_0$, $w_a$ parameter space the CPL parametrization maps onto a fairly narrow form of behavior for the potential $V(ϕ)$, while a one-dimensional subset of parameter s…
In this work, we explore the evolution of the dark energy equation of state ω by using Chevalliear-PolarskiLinder (CPL) parametrization and the binned parametrizations. For binned parametrizations, we adopt three methods to choose the redshift interval: I. Ensure that "Δz = const", where Δz is the width of each bin; II.Ensure that "nΔz = const", where n is the number of SNIa in each bin; III. Treat redshift discontinuity points as models parameters, i.e. "free Δz". For observational data, we adopt JLA type Ia supernova (SNIa) samples, SDSS DR12 data, and Planck 2015 distance priors. In particu…

We study the possibility of probing dark energy behaviour using gravitational wave experiments like LISA and Advanced LIGO. Using two popular parameterizations for dark energy equation of state, we show that with current sensitivities of LISA and Advanced LIGO to detect the stochastic gravitational waves, it is possible to probe a large section of parameter space for the dark energy equation of state which is allowed by present cosmological observations.
In this paper we place observational constraints on the interaction and spatial curvature in the holographic dark energy model. We consider three kinds of phenomenological interactions between holographic dark energy and matter, i.e., the interaction term $Q$ is proportional to the energy densities of dark energy ($ρ_Λ$), matter ($ρ_{m}$), and matter plus dark energy ($ρ_m+ρ_Λ$). For probing the interaction and spatial curvature in the holographic dark energy model, we use the latest observational data including the type Ia supernovae (SNIa) Constitution data, the shift parameter of the cosmic…
The phenomenological parametrizations of dark-energy (DE) equation of state can be very helpful, since they allow for the investigation of its cosmological behavior despite the fact that its underlying theory is unknown. However, although there has been a large amount of research on DE parametrizations which involve two or more free parameters, the one-parameter parametrizations seem to be underestimated. We perform a detailed observational confrontation of five one-parameter DE models, with observational data from cosmic microwave background (CMB), Joint light-curve analysis sample from Super…
In this paper, we report the results of constraining the dynamical dark energy with a divergence-free parameterization, $w(z) = w_{0} + w_{a}(\frac{\ln(2+z)}{1+z}-\ln2)$, in the presence of spatial curvature and massive neutrinos, with the 7-yr WMAP temperature and polarization data, the power spectrum of LRGs derived from SDSS DR7, the Type Ia supernova data from Union2 sample, and the new measurements of $H_0$ from HST, by using a MCMC global fit method. Our focus is on the determinations of the spatial curvature, $Ω_k$, and the total mass of neutrinos, $\sum m_ν$, in such a dynamical dark e…
The model-independent piecewise parametrizations (0-spline, linear-spline and cubic-spline) are used to estimate constraints of equation of state of dark energy ($w_{de}$) from current observational data (including SNIa, BAO and Hubble parameter) and the simulated future data. A combination of fitting results of $w_{de}$ from these three spline methods reveal essential properties of real equation of state $w_{de}$. It is shown that $w_{de}$ beyond redshift $z\sim0.5$ is poorly constrained from current data, and the mock future $\sim2300$ supernovae data give poor constraints of $w_{de}$ beyond…
We demonstrate the scale dependence of the growth function of cosmological perturbations in dark energy models based on General Relativity. This scale dependence is more prominent on cosmological scales of $100h^{-1}Mpc$ or larger. We derive a new scale dependent parametrization which generalizes the well known Newtonian approximation result $f_0(a)\equiv \frac{d\ln δ_0}{d\ln a}=\om(a)^γ$ ($γ={6/11}$ for \lcdm) which is a good approximation on scales less than $50h^{-1}Mpc$. Our generalized parametrization is of the form $f(a)=\frac{f_0(a)}{1+ξ(a,k)}$ where $ξ(a,k)=\frac{3 H_{0}^{2} \omm}{a k^…
Future singularities arising in a family of models for the expanding Universe, characterized by sharing a convenient parametrization of the energy budget in terms of the deceleration parameter, are classified. Finite-time future singularities are known to appear in many cosmological scenarios, in particular, in the presence of viscosity or non-gravitational interactions, the last being known to be able to suppress or just change in some cases the type of the cosmological singularity. Here, a family of models with a parametrization of the energy budget in terms of the deceleration parameter are…
In the present work we perform a systematic analysis of a new dark energy parametrization and its various corrections at first and higher orders around the presence epoch $z=0$, where the first order correction of this dark energy parametrization recovers the known Chevallier-Polarski-Linder model. We have considered up to the third order corrections of this parametrization and investigate the models at the level of background and perturbations. The models have been constrained using the latest astronomical datasets from a series of potential astronomical data, such as the cosmic microwave bac…
We perform a detailed confrontation of various oscillating dark-energy parame-trizations with the latest sets of observational data. In particular, we use data from Joint Light Curve analysis (JLA) sample from Supernoave Type Ia, Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO) distance measurements, Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) observations, redshift space distortion, weak gravitational lensing, Hubble parameter measurements from cosmic chronometers, and we impose constraints on four oscillating models. From the analyses we find that the best-fit characters of almost all models are bent towards the ph…
In this work we introduce two new polynomial parametrizations of dark energy and explore their correlation properties. The parameters to fit are the equation of state values at z=0 and z=0.5, which have naturally low correlation and have already been shown to improve the popular Chevallier-Polarski-Linder (CPL) parametrization. We test our models with low redshift astronomical probes: type Ia supernovae and baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO), in the form of both current and synthetic data. Specifically, we present simulations of measurements of the radial and transversal BAO scales similar to …
We explore non-canonical scalar field model in the background of non-flat $D$-dimensional fractal Universe with cosmological constant $Λ$ on the condition that the matter and scalar field are separately conserved. The potential $V$, scalar field $ϕ$, function $f$, densities, Hubble parameter and deceleration parameter can be expressed in terms of the redshift $z$ and these depend on the equation of state parameter $w_ϕ$. We also investigate four kinds of well known parametrization models and graphically we have analyzed the natures of potential, scalar field, function $f$, densities, the Hubbl…
In this present work, we try to build up a cosmological model using a non-canonical scalar field within the framework of a spatially flat FRW space-time. In this context, we have considered four different parametrizations of the equation of state parameter of the non-canonical scalar field. Under this scenario, analytical solutions for various cosmological parameters have been found out. It has been found that the deceleration parameter shows a smooth transition from a positive value to some negative value which indicates that the universe was undergoing an early deceleration followed by late …
We discuss experimental probes of isospin-violating dark matter (IVDM), including direct and indirect detection strategies. We point out the important role which IVDM plays in understanding recent data regarding low-mass dark matter, and describe strategies for finding evidence of IVDM at current and upcoming experiments.

In a recent paper, a new parametrization for the dark matter (DM) speed distribution f(v) was proposed for use in the analysis of data from direct detection experiments. This parametrization involves expressing the logarithm of the speed distribution as a polynomial in the speed v. We present here a more detailed analysis of the properties of this parametrization. We show that the method leads to statistically unbiased mass reconstructions and exact coverage of credible intervals. The method performs well over a wide range of DM masses, even when finite energy resolution and backgrounds are ta…
Dark Matter could potentially manifest itself in the form of asymmetric dark stars. In this paper we entertain the possibility of probing such asymmetric bosonic dark matter stars by the use of atomic clocks. If the dark sector connects to the standard model sector via a Higgs or photon portal, the interior of boson stars that are in a Bose-Einstein condensate state can change the values of physical constants that control the timing of atomic clock devices. Dilute asymmetric dark matter boson stars passing through the Earth can induce frequency shifts that can be observed in separated Earth ba…
We propose a new Dark Energy parametrization based on the dynamics of a scalar field. We use an equation of state w=(x-1)/(x+1), with x=E_k/V, the ratio of kinetic energy E_k=\dotphi^2/2 and potential V. The equation of motion gives x=(L/6)(V/3H^2) and has a solution x=([(1+y)^2+2 L/3]^{1/2}-(1+y))/2 where y\equiv \rmm/V and L= (V'/V)^2 (1+q)^2, q=\ddotphi/V'. The resulting EoS is w=[6+ L- 6 \sqrt((1+y)^2+2L/3)]/(L+6y). Since the universe is accelerating at present time we use the slow roll approximation in which case we have |q|<< 1 and L\simeq (V'/V)^2. However, the derivation of w is exact …
Precision measurements of nature's fundamental couplings and a first measurement of the cosmological redshift drift are two of the key targets for future high-resolution ultra-stable spectrographs such as CODEX. Being able to do both gives CODEX a unique advantage, allowing it to probe dynamical dark energy models (by measuring the behavior of their equation of state) deep in the matter era and thereby testing classes of models that would otherwise be difficult to distinguish from the standard $Λ$CDM paradigm. We illustrate this point with two simple case studies.
In this work we propose a simple general parametrization scheme of the Hubble parameter for the scalar field dark energy models. In our approach it is possible to incorporate both the quintessence and phantom scalar field in a single analytical scheme and write down relevant cosmological parameters which are independent of the nature of the scalar field. A general condition for the phantom barrier crossing has also been obtained. To test this approach, a well behaved parametrization of the normalized Hubble parameter has been considered and a wide variety of observational data like CMB data, S…
By introducing Crossing functions and hyper-parameters I show that the Bayesian interpretation of the Crossing Statistics [1] can be used trivially for the purpose of model selection among cosmological models. In this approach to falsify a cosmological model there is no need to compare it with other models or assume any particular form of parametrization for the cosmological quantities like luminosity distance, Hubble parameter or equation of state of dark energy. Instead, hyper-parameters of Crossing functions perform as discriminators between correct and wrong models. Using this approach one…
Studies of flux anomalies statistics and perturbations in stellar streams have the potential to constrain models of warm dark matter (WDM), including sterile neutrinos. Producing these constraints requires a parametrization of the WDM mass function relative to that of the cold dark matter (CDM) equivalent. We use five WDM models with half-mode masses, $M_\mathrm{hm}=[1.3,35]\times10^{8}$~$M_{\odot}$, spread across simulations of the Local Group, lensing ellipticals and the $z=2$ universe, to generate such a parametrization: we fit parameters to a functional form for the WDM-to-CDM halo mass fu…
We study the cosmic expansion history by reconstructing the deceleration parameter $q(z)$ from the SDSS-II type Ia supernova sample (SNIa) with two different light curve fits (MLCS2k2 and SALT-II), the baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) distance ratio, the cosmic microwave background (CMB) shift parameter, and the lookback time-redshift (LT) from the age of old passive galaxies. Three parametrization forms for the equation of state of dark energy (CPL, JBP, and UIS) are considered. Our results show that, for the CPL and the UIS forms, MLCS2k2 SDSS-II SNIa+BAO+CMB and MLCS2k2 SDSS-II SNIa+BAO+CM…
Dark photon not only provides a portal linking dark sector particles and ordinary matter but also is a well-motivated dark matter candidate. We propose to detect the dark photon dark matter through the inverse Compton-like scattering process $p+γ^\prime \to p+γ$. Thanks to the ultra-high energy primary cosmic rays, we find that such a method is able to probe the dark photon mass from $10^{-2}$ eV down to $10^{-19}$ eV with the expected sensitivity of eROSITA $X$-ray telescope, which can extend the current lower limit of dark photon mass from Jupiter's magnetic fields experiment by about three …
From measurements of the cosmic microwave background (CMB), the effective number of neutrino is found to be close to the standard model value Neff = 3.046 for the \LambdaCDM cosmology. One can obtain the same CMB angular power spectrum as that of \LambdaCDM for the different value of Neff by using the different dark energy model (i.e. for the different value of w). This degeneracy between Neff and w in CMB can be broken from future galaxy survey using the matter power spectrum.
In this work we explore signatures of evolution for the dark energy density $X(z)=ρ_{de}(z)/ρ_{de}(0)$ using latest observations on SNIa and H(z). The models consist of parametrizations of the dark energy density and consequently a reconstruction for the EoS parameter w(z) as a function of redshift. Both parametrization methods using the SH0Es prior results in a small deviation from LCDM at 1$σ$ for $X(z)$. Extending the analysis up to 2$σ$, the evidence for evolution of $X(z)$ dilute in both cases. We have also studied an interacting dark model where this trend is also found.
Understanding the nature of dark energy is one of the most outstanding problems in cosmology at present. In last twenty years, cosmological observations related to SNIa, Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation, Baryon Acoustic Oscillations etc, have put stringent constraints on the the dark energy evolution, still there is enough uncertainty in our knowledge about dark energy that demands new generation of cosmological observations. Post-reionization neutral hydrogen 21 cm intensity mapping surveys are one of the most promising future cosmological observations that have the potential to map the …
In the present investigation we use observational data of $ f σ_ {8} $ to determine observational constraints in the plane $(Ω_{m0},σ_{8})$ using two different methods: the growth factor parametrization and the numerical solutions method for density contrast, $δ_{m}$. We verified the correspondence between both methods for three models of accelerated expansion: the $ΛCDM$ model, the $ w_{0}w_{a} CDM$ model and the running cosmological constant $RCC$ model. In all case we consider also curvature as free parameter. The study of this correspondence is important because the growth factor parametri…
We introduce a new version of the Integrated Software in Testing General Relativity (ISiTGR) which is a patch to the software CAMB and CosmoMC. ISiTGR is intended to test deviations from GR at cosmological scales using cosmological data sets. While doing so, it allows for various extensions to the standard flat $Λ$CDM model. In this new release, we have support for the following: 1) dynamical dark energy parametrizations with a constant or time-dependent equation of state; 2) a consistent implementation of anisotropic shear to model massive neutrinos throughout the full formalism; 3) multiple …
A new method to investigate a possible time-dependence of the dark energy equation of state $w$ is proposed. We apply this methodology to two of the most recent data sets of type Ia supernova (Union2 and SDSS) and the baryon acoustic oscillation peak at $z = 0.35$. For some combinations of these data, we show that there is a clear departure from the standard $Λ$CDM model at intermediary redshifts, although a non-evolving dark energy component ($dw/dz = 0$) cannot be ruled out by these data. The approach developed here may be useful to probe a possible evolving dark energy component when applie…
We propose an unified model of dark matter and baryon asymmetry in a lepto-philic world above the electroweak scale. We provide an example where the inflaton decay products subsequently generate a lepton asymmetry and a dark matter abundance with an unique coupling in the early universe, while the present day decay of the dark matter through the same coupling gives rise the observed cosmic ray anomalies at PAMELA and Fermi Large Area Telescope.
