Factorization of quantum mechanical Hamiltonians has been a useful technique for some time. This procedure has been given an elegant description by supersymmetric quantum mechanics, and the subject has become well-developed. We demonstrate that the existence of raising and lowering operators for the harmonic oscillator (and many other potentials) can be extended to their supersymmetric partners. The use of double supersymmetry (or a factorization chain) is used to obtain non-singular isospectral potentials, and the explicit expressions for the ladder operators, wave functions and probability densities are provided. This application avoids the technical complexities of the most general approaches, and requires relatively modest methods from supersymmetric quantum mechanics.
We propose a novel mathematical approach for the calculation of near-zero energy states by solving potentials which are isospectral with the original one. For any potential, families of strictly isospectral potentials (with very different shape) having desirable and adjustable features are generated by supersymmetric isospectral formalism. The near-zero energy Efimov state in the original potential is effectively trapped in the deep well of the isospectral family and facilitates more accurate calculation of the Efimov state. Application to the first excited state in 4He trimer is presented.
We propose a new method for constructing the quasi-exactly solvable (QES) potentials with two known eigenstates using supersymmetric quantum mechanics. General expression for QES potentials with explicitly known energy levels and wave functions of ground state and excited state are obtained. Examples of new QES potentials are considered.
We present here a supersymmetric (SUSY) approach for determining excitation energies within the context of a quantum Monte Carlo scheme. By using the fact that SUSY quantum mechanics gives rises to a series of isospectral Hamiltonians, we show that Monte Carlo ground-state calculations in the SUSY partners can be used to reconstruct accurately both the spectrum and states of an arbitrary Schrödinger equation. Since the ground-state of each partner potential is node-less, we avoid any ``node''-problem typically associated with the Monte Carlo technique. While we provide an example of using this…
Being chosen as a differential operator of a special form, metric $η$ operator becomes unitary equivalent to a one-dimensional Hermitian Hamiltonian with a natural supersymmetric structure. We show that fixing the superpartner of this Hamiltonian permits to determine both the metric operator and corresponding non-Hermitian Hamiltonian. Moreover, under an additional restriction on the non-Hermitian Hamiltonian, it becomes a superpartner of another Hermitian Hamiltonian.
Diagonalizable pseudo-Hermitian Hamiltonians with real and discrete spectra, which are superpartners of Hermitian Hamiltonians, must be $η$-pseudo-Hermitian with Hermitian, positive-definite and non-singular $η$ operators. We show that despite the fact that an $η$ operator produced by a supersymmetric transformation, corresponding to the exact supersymmetry, is singular, it can be used to find the eigenfunctions of a Hermitian operator equivalent to the given pseudo-Hermitian Hamiltonian. Once the eigenfunctions of the Hermitian operator are found the operator may be reconstructed with the hel…
A construction method of infinite families of quasi-exactly solvable position-dependent mass Schrödinger equations with known ground and first excited states is proposed in a deformed supersymmetric background. Such families correspond to extensions of known potentials endowed with a deformed shape invariance property. Two different approaches are combined. The first one is a generating function method, which enables to construct the first two superpotentials of a deformed supersymmetric hierarchy, as well as the first two partner potentials and the first two eigenstates of the first potential…
This paper examines the features of a generalized position-dependent mass Hamiltonian in a supersymmetric framework in which the constraints of pseudo-Hermiticity and CPT are naturally embedded. Different representations of the charge operator are considered that lead to new mass-deformed superpotentials which are inherently PT-symmetric. The qualitative spectral behavior of the Hamiltonian is studied and several interesting consequences are noted.
The generalization of the factorization method performed by Mielnik [J. Math. Phys. {\bf 25}, 3387 (1984)] opened new ways to generate exactly solvable potentials in quantum mechanics. We present an application of Mielnik's method to hypergeometric type operators. It is based on some solvable Riccati equations and leads to a unitary description of the quantum systems exactly solvable in terms of orthogonal polynomials or associated special functions.
A new class of non-Hermitian Hamiltonians with real spectrum, which are written as a real linear combination of su(2) generators in the form $ H=ωJ_{3}+αJ_{-}+βJ_{+}$, $α\neq β$, is analyzed. The metrics which allows the transition to the equivalent Hermitian Hamiltonian is established. A pseudo-Hermitian supersymmetic extension of such Hamiltonians is performed. They correspond to the pseudo-Hermitian supersymmetric systems of the boson-phermion oscillators. We extend the supercoherent states formalism to such supersymmetic systems via the pseudo-unitary supersymmetric displacement operator m…
We develop new techniques for studying the modular and the relative modular flows of general excited states. We show that the class of states obtained by acting on the vacuum (or any cyclic and separating state) with invertible operators from the algebra of a region is dense in the Hilbert space. This enables us to express the modular and the relative modular operators, as well as the relative entropies of generic excited states in terms of the vacuum modular operator and the operator that creates the state. In particular, the modular and the relative modular flows of any state can be expanded…
After a brief introduction recalling how, in the limit in which the mass and the electric charge of the electron and the positron tend to zero, Quantum Electrodynamics reduces to a collection of uncoupled quantum supersymmetric harmonic oscillators, the phase operator of the quantum fermionic harmonic oscillator and of the quantum supersymmetric harmonic oscillator are introduced and their properties analyzed. It is then shown that the phase operator of a supersymmetric harmonic oscillator is a Goldstone operator at any strictly positive temperature (finite or infinite).
Nonlinear supercoherent states, which are eigenstates of nonlinear deformations of the Kornbluth-Zypman annihilation operator for the supersymmetric harmonic oscillator, will be studied. They turn out to be expressed in terms of nonlinear coherent states, associated to the corresponding deformations of the standard annihilation operator. We will discuss as well the Heisenberg uncertainty relation for a special particular case, in order to compare our results with those obtained for the Kornbluth-Zypman linear supercoherent states. As the supersymmetric harmonic oscillator executes an evolution…
A simple version of the q-deformed calculus is used to generate a pair of q-nonlocal, second-order difference operators by means of deformed counterparts of Darboux intertwining operators for zero factorization energy. These deformed non-local operators may be considered as supersymmetric partners and their structure contains contributions originating in both the Hermite operator and the quantum harmonic oscillator operator. There are also extra $\pm x$ contributions. The undeformed limit, in which all q-nonlocalities wash out, corresponds to the usual supersymmetric pair of quantum mechanical…
We study supersymmetric quantum mechanics with the functional RG formulated in terms of an exact and manifestly off-shell supersymmetric flow equation for the effective action. We solve the flow equation nonperturbatively in a systematic super-covariant derivative expansion and concentrate on systems with unbroken supersymmetry. Already at next-to-leading order, the energy of the first excited state for convex potentials is accurately determined within a 1% error for a wide range of couplings including deeply nonperturbative regimes.
In this paper we discuss the Morse potential on a quantum computer. The Morse potential is useful to describe diatomic molecules and has a finite number of bound states which can be measured through spectroscopy. It is also a example of an exactly soluble potential using supersymmetric quantum mechanics. Using the the supersymmetric quantum mechanics formalism one can derive a heirachy of Hamiltonians such that the ground state of the next rung on the heirarchy yeids the first excited state of the hamiltonian below it. Using this method one can determine all the states of the Morse potential b…
We employ our new approach to non-relativistic supersymmetric quantum mechanics (SUSY-QM), (J. Phys. Chem. A 114, 8202(2010)) for any number of dimensions and distinguishable particles, to treat the hydrogen atom in full three-dimensional detail. In contrast to the standard one-dimensional radial equation SUSY-QM treatment of the hydrogen atom, where the superpotential is a scalar, in a full three-dimensional treatment, it is a vector which applies regardless of the electron angular momentum. The original scalar Schrodinger Hamiltonian operator is factored into vector "charge" operators: Q and…
Two dimensional effective Hamiltonian for a massless Dirac electron interacting with a hyperbolic magnetic field is discussed within PT symmetry. Factorization method and polynomial procedures are used to solve Dirac equation for the constant Fermi velocity and the effective potential which is complex Scarf II potential. The more general effective Scarf II potential models are also obtained within pseudo-supersymmetry. Finally, an extension of Panella and Roy's work [12] to the both PT symmetric and real Scarf II partner potentials are given using the position dependent Fermi velocity.
Gamow solutions are used to transform self-adjoint energy operators by means of factorization (supersymmetric) techniques. The transformed non-hermitian operators admit a discrete real spectrum which is occasionally extended by a single complex eigenvalue associated to normalized eigensolutions. These new Hamiltonians are not pseudo-hermitian operators and also differ from those obtained by means of complex-scaling transformations. As an example, Coulomb-like potentials are studied.
Using algebraic tools of supersymmetric quantum mechanics we construct classes of conditionally exactly solvable potentials being the supersymmetric partners of the linear or radial harmonic oscillator. With the help of the raising and lowering operators of these harmonic oscillators and the SUSY operators we construct ladder operators for these new conditionally solvable systems. It is found that these ladder operators together with the Hamilton operator form a non-linear algebra which is of quadratic and cubic type for the SUSY partners of the linear and radial harmonic oscillator, respectiv…
In 4 dimensional Maxwell gauge theory, we study the changes of (Renyi) entangle-ment entropy which are defined by subtracting the entropy for the ground state from the one for the locally excited states generated by acting with the gauge invariant local operators on the state. The changes for the operators which we consider in this paper reflect the electric-magnetic duality. The late-time value of changes can be interpreted in terms of electromagnetic quasi-particles. When the operator constructed of both electric and magnetic fields acts on the ground state, it shows that the operator acts o…
In this paper we study the time evolution of (Renyi) entanglement entropies for locally excited states in four dimensional free massless fermionic field theory. Locally excited states are defined by being acted by various local operators on the ground state. Their excesses are defined by subtracting (Renyi) entanglement entropy for the ground state from those for locally excited states. They finally approach some constant if the subsystem is given by half of the total space. They have spin dependence. They can be interpreted in terms of quasi-particles.
In this brief review, we comment on the concept of shape invariant potentials, which is an essential feature in many settings of $N=2$ supersymmetric quantum mechanics. To motivate its application within supersymmetric quantum cosmology, we present a case study to illustrate the value of this promising tool. Concretely, we take a spatially flat FRW model in the presence of a single scalar field, minimally coupled to gravity. Then, we extract the associated Schrödinger-Wheeler-DeWitt equation, allowing for a particular scope of factor ordering. Subsequently, we compute the corresponding supersy…
We develop the computational method of entanglement entropy based on the idea that $Trρ_Ω^n$ is written as the expectation value of the local operator, where $ρ_Ω$ is a density matrix of the subsystem $Ω$. We apply it to consider the mutual Renyi information $I^{(n)}(A,B)=S^{(n)}_A+S^{(n)}_B-S^{(n)}_{A\cup B}$ of disjoint compact spatial regions $A$ and $B$ in the locally excited states defined by acting the local operators at $A$ and $B$ on the vacuum of a $(d+1)$-dimensional field theory, in the limit when the separation $r$ between $A$ and $B$ is much greater than their sizes $R_{A,B}$. For…
