We construct two types of scalar field theory on Snyder space-time. The first one is based on the natural momenta addition inherent to the coset momentum space. This construction uncovers a non-associative deformation of the Poincaré symmetries. The second one considers Snyder space-time as a subspace of a larger non-commutative space. We discuss different possibilities to restrict the extra-dimensional scalar field theory to a theory living only on Sndyer space-time and present the consequences of these restrictions on the Poincaré symmetries. We show moreover how the non-associative approach and the Doplicher-Fredenhagen-Roberts space can be seen as specific approximations of the extra-dimensional theory. These results are obtained for the 3d Euclidian Snyder space-time constructed from $\SO(3,1)/\SO(3)$, but our results extend to any dimension and signature.
We study the two-dimensional version of a quartic self-interacting quantum scalar field on a curved and noncommutative space (Snyder-de Sitter). We show that the model is renormalizable at the one-loop level and compute the beta functions of the related couplings. The renormalization group flow is then studied numerically, arriving at the conclusion that noncommutative-curved deformations can yield both relevant and irrelevant contributions to the one-loop effective action.
We show that two indistinguishable aspects of the divergences occurring in the Casimir effect, namely the divergence of the energy of the higher modes and the non-com\-pact\-ness of the momentum space, get disentangled in a given noncommutative setup. To this end, we consider a scalar field between two parallel plates in an anti-Snyder space. Additionally, the large mass decay in this noncommutative setup is not necessarily exponential.
We analyze the model of a self-interacting $ϕ^4_{\star}$ scalar field theory in Snyder-de Sitter space. After analytically computing the one-loop beta functions {in the small noncommutativity and curvature limit}, we solve numerically the corresponding system of differential equations, showing that in this limit the model possesses at least one regime in which the theory is asymptotically free. Moreover, in a given region of the parameter space we also observe a peculiar running of the parameter associated to the curvature, which changes its sign and therefore can be interpreted as a transitio…
Using a quantization of the nonassociative and noncommutative Snyder phi^4 scalar field theory in a Hermitian realization, we present in this article analytical formulas for the momentum-conserving part of the one-loop two-point function of this theory in D-, 4-, and 3-dimensional Euclidean spaces, which are exact with respect to the noncommutative deformation parameter beta. We prove that these integrals are regularized by the Snyder deformation. These results indicate that the Snyder deformation does partially regularize the UV divergences of the undeformed theory, as it was proposed decades…
We describe, in an algebraic way, the $κ$-deformed extended Snyder models, that depend on three parameters $β, κ$ and $λ$, which in a suitable algebra basis are described by the de Sitter algebras ${o}(1,N)$. The commutation relations of the algebra contain a parameter $λ$, which is used for the calculations of perturbative expansions. For such $κ$-deformed extended Snyder models we consider the Heisenberg double with dual generalized momenta sector, and provide the respective generalized quantum phase space depending on three parameters mentioned above. Further, we study for these models an a…
We study an interacting $λ\,ϕ^4_{\star}$ scalar field defined on Snyder-de Sitter space. Due to the noncommutativity as well as the curvature of this space, the renormalization of the two-point function differs from the commutative case. In particular, we show that the theory in the limit of small curvature and noncommutativity is described by a model similar to the Grosse-Wulkenhaar one. Moreover, very much akin to what happens in the Grosse-Wulkenhaar model, our computation demonstrates that there exists a fixed point in the renormalization group flow of the harmonic and mass terms.
We study the $ϕ_{\star}^4$ model for a scalar field in a linearization of the Snyder model, using the methods of the Worldline Formalism. Our main result is a master equation for the 1-loop n-point function. From this we derive the renormalization of the coupling parameters of the theory and observe the appearance of a $ϕ^6$ divergent contribution that opens the question of whether this theory is renormalizable or not. Additionally, we observe that some terms in the renormalized action can be interpreted as coming from an effective metric proportional to the square of the field.
A classical solution where the (scalar) field value moves by an ${\cal O}(1)$ range in Planck units is believed to signal the breakdown of Effective Field Theory (EFT). One heuristic argument for this is that such a field will have enough energy to be inside its own Schwarzschild radius, and will result in collapse. In this paper, we consider an inverse problem: what kind of field ranges arise during the gravitational collapse of a classical field? Despite the fact that collapse has been studied for almost a hundred years, most of the discussion is phrased in terms of fluid stress tensors, and…
Massless Scalar Field Propagator in a Quantized Space-Time
The alternative scalar field dark sector of the Universe: Cosmological inflation, quintessence and ekpyrotic model in the framework of scalar-tensor cosmology
This paper investigates a newly proposed fluid description of dark energy within the framework of the late-time accelerated expansion of the universe. Our primary objective is to explore the theoretical foundation of the proposed equation of state by establishing its correspondence with well-known scalar field models such as quintessence, k-essence, and DBI-essence. Through this correspondence, we reconstruct key field parameters, including the scalar field $ϕ$ and scalar potential $V(ϕ)$, and analyze their evolutionary behavior across cosmic time. The study also evaluates the model's physical…
The $R+R^2$ model of gravity with the corresponding shallow potential in the Einstein frame is consistent with the observations. Recently, many efforts have been made to generalize the $R+R^2$ (Starobinsky) model of inflation or use other shallow potentials to construct a model for the early Universe. We revise the question about the shallow potential. We propose a model in which the Starobinsky model can emerge through a dynamical mechanism. We show that the absence of ghost modes results to constraints on the parameters of the Starobinsky model. We obtain the scalar spectral index and the te…
We investigate supersymmetry (SUSY) breaking scenarios where both SUSY and Lorentz symmetry are broken spontaneously. For concreteness, we propose models in which scalar fluid or vector condensation breaks Lorentz symmetry and accordingly SUSY. Then, we examine whether such scenarios are viable for realistic model buildings. We find, however, that the scalar fluid model suffers from several issues. Then, we extend it to a vector condensation model, which avoids the issues in the scalar fluid case. We show that accelerated expansion and soft SUSY breaking in matter sector can be achieved. In ou…
In this study, the Casimir energy for massive scalar field with periodic boundary condition was calculated on spherical surfaces with $S^1$, $S^2$ and $S^3$ topologies. To obtain the Casimir energy on spherical surface, the contribution of the vacuum energy of Minkowski space is usually subtracted from that of the original system. In large mass limit for surface $S^2$; however, some divergences would eventually remain in the obtained result. To remove these remaining divergences, a secondary renormalization program was manually performed. In the present work, a direct approach for calculation …
The most general scalar-tensor theories of gravity predict a weakening of the gravitational force inside astrophysical bodies. There is a minimum mass for hydrogen burning in stars that is set by the interplay of plasma physics and the theory of gravity. We calculate this for alternative theories of gravity, and find that it is always significantly larger than the general relativity prediction. The observation of several low mass Red Dwarf stars therefore rules out a large class of scalar-tensor gravity theories, and places strong constraints on the cosmological parameters appearing in the eff…
We explain our proposal for an alternative bulk reconstruction of AdS/CFT correspondences from a scalar field by the flow method. By smearing and then normalizing a primary field in a $d$ dimensional CFT, we construct a bulk field, through which a $d+1$ dimensional AdS space emerges.
We obtain a subgroup of the isometry group of $p$AdS (a $p$-adic version of AdS alternative to the Bruhat-Tits tree). We propose a candidate for the scalar bulk action and equation of motion on $p$AdS, and work out analytical expressions of the Green's functions for a particular choice of parameter together with an ansatz for general cases. The limiting behaviors of the Green's function are also studied. With their help, the convergence of small loops (whose radii are smaller than AdS length scale of $p$AdS) is analyzed.
