We construct a scalar field theory on the Snyder non-commutative space-time. The symmetry underlying the Snyder geometry is deformed at the co-algebraic level only, while its Poincaré algebra is undeformed. The Lorentz sector is undeformed at both algebraic and co-algebraic level, but the co-product for momenta (defining the star-product) is non-co-associative. The Snyder-deformed Poincaré group is described by a non-co-associative Hopf algebra. The definition of the interacting theory in terms of a non-associative star-product is thus questionable. We avoid the non-associativity by the use of a space-time picture based on the concept of realization of a non-commutative geometry. The two main results we obtain are: (i) the generic (namely for any realization) construction of the co-algebraic sector underlying the Snyder geometry and (ii) the definition of a non-ambiguous self interacting scalar field theory on this space-time. The first order correction terms of the corresponding Lagrangian are explicitly computed. The possibility to derive Noether charges for the Snyder space-time is also discussed.
In this paper we study the Kepler problem in the non commutative Snyder scenario. We characterize the deformations in the Poisson bracket algebra under a mimic procedure from quantum standard formulations and taking into account a general recipe to build the noncommutative phase space coordinates (in the sense of Poisson brackets). We obtain an expression to the deformed potential, and then the consequences in the precession of the orbit of Mercury are calculated. This result allows us to find an estimated value for the non commutative deformation parameter introduced.
We have developed a unified scheme for studying Non-Commutative algebras based on Generalized Uncertainty Principle (GUP) and Snyder form in a relativistically covariant point particle Lagrangian (or symplectic) framework. Even though the GUP based algebra and Snyder algebra are very distinct, the more involved latter algebra emerges from an approximation of the Lagrangian model of the former algebra. Deformed Poincare generators for the systems that keep space-time symmetries of the relativistic particle models have been studied thoroughly. From a purely constrained dynamical analysis perspec…
In this paper, we construct for the first time the non-commutative fluid with the deformed Poincare invariance. To this end, the realization formalism of the noncommutative spaces is employed and the results are particularized to the Snyder space. The non-commutative fluid generalizes the fluid model in the action functional formulation to the noncommutative space. The fluid equations of motion and the conserved energy-momentum tensor are obtained.
We construct two types of scalar field theory on Snyder space-time. The first one is based on the natural momenta addition inherent to the coset momentum space. This construction uncovers a non-associative deformation of the Poincaré symmetries. The second one considers Snyder space-time as a subspace of a larger non-commutative space. We discuss different possibilities to restrict the extra-dimensional scalar field theory to a theory living only on Sndyer space-time and present the consequences of these restrictions on the Poincaré symmetries. We show moreover how the non-associative approach…
A system of relativistic Snyder particles with mutual two-body interaction that lives in a Non-Commutative Snyder geometry is studied. The underlying novel symplectic structure is a coupled and extended version of (single particle) Snyder algebra. In a recent work by Casalbuoni and Gomis, Phys.Rev. D90, 026001 (2014), a system of interacting conventional particles (in commutative spacetime) was studied with special emphasis on it's Conformal Invariance. Proceeding along the same lines we have shown that our interacting Snyder particle model is also conformally invariant. Moreover, the conforma…
We show that the UV-regime at the Lifshitz point $z=3$ is equivalent to work with a momenta manifold whose topology is the same as that of an $AdS_2\times S^2$ space. According to Snyder's theory, curved momentum space is related to non-commutative quantized spacetime. In this sense, our analysis suggests an equivalence between Horava-Lifshitz and Snyder's theory.
Different deformations of the Poincare symmetries have been identified for various non-commutative spaces (e.g. $κ$-Minkowski, $sl(2,R)$, Moyal). We present here the deformation of the Poincare symmetries related to Snyder space-time. The notions of smooth "K-loop", a non-associative generalization of Abelian Lie groups, and its infinitesimal counterpart given by the Lie triple system are the key objects in the construction.
In this article we define and quantize a truncated form of the nonassociative and noncommutative Snyder phi^4 field theory using the functional method in momentum space. More precisely, the action is approximated by expanding up to the linear order in the Snyder deformation parameter beta, producing an effective model on commutative spacetime for the computation of the two-, four- and six-point functions. The two- and four-point functions at one loop have the same structure as at the tree level, with UV divergences faster than in the commutative theory. The same behavior appears in the six-poi…
We present Lie-algebraic deformations of Minkowski space with undeformed Poincare algebra. These deformations interpolate between Snyder and kappa-Minkowski space. We find realizations of noncommutative coordinates in terms of commutative coordinates and derivatives. Deformed Leibniz rule, the coproduct structure and star product are found. Special cases, particularly Snyder and kappa-Minkowski in Maggiore-type realizations are discussed. Our construction leads to a new class of deformed special relativity theories.
We discuss the generalisation of the Snyder model that includes all possible deformations of the Heisenberg algebra compatible with Lorentz invariance and investigate its properties. We calculate peturbatively the law of addition of momenta and the star product in the general case. We also undertake the construction of a scalar field theory on these noncommutative spaces showing that the free theory is equivalent to the commutative one, like in other models of noncommutative QFT.
We study the two-dimensional version of a quartic self-interacting quantum scalar field on a curved and noncommutative space (Snyder-de Sitter). We show that the model is renormalizable at the one-loop level and compute the beta functions of the related couplings. The renormalization group flow is then studied numerically, arriving at the conclusion that noncommutative-curved deformations can yield both relevant and irrelevant contributions to the one-loop effective action.
We present Lie-algebraic deformations of Minkowski space with undeformed Poincaré algebra. These deformations interpolate between Snyder and $κ$-Minkowski space. We find realizations of noncommutative coordinates in terms of commutative coordinates and derivatives. Invariants and tensors with respect to Lorentz algebra are discussed. A general mapping from $κ$-deformed Snyder to Snyder space is constructed. Deformed Leibniz rule, the coproduct structure and star product are found. Special cases, particularly Snyder and $κ$-Minkowski in Maggiore-type realizations are discussed.
We present Lie-algebraic deformations of Minkowski space with undeformed Poincaré algebra. These deformations interpolate between Snyder and $κ$-Minkowski space. We find realizations of noncommutative coordinates in terms of commutative coordinates and derivatives. By introducing modules, it is shown that although deformed and undeformed structures are not isomorphic at the level of vector spaces, they are however isomorphic at the level of Hopf algebraic action on corresponding modules. Invariants and tensors with respect to Lorentz algebra are discussed. A general mapping from $κ$-deformed S…
We study an interacting $λ\,ϕ^4_{\star}$ scalar field defined on Snyder-de Sitter space. Due to the noncommutativity as well as the curvature of this space, the renormalization of the two-point function differs from the commutative case. In particular, we show that the theory in the limit of small curvature and noncommutativity is described by a model similar to the Grosse-Wulkenhaar one. Moreover, very much akin to what happens in the Grosse-Wulkenhaar model, our computation demonstrates that there exists a fixed point in the renormalization group flow of the harmonic and mass terms.
We discuss the construction of a scalar field theory with momentum space given by a coset. By introducing a generalized Fourier transform, we show how the dual scalar field theory actually lives in Snyder's space-time. As a side-product we identify a star product realization of Snyder's non-commutative space, but also the deformation of the Poincare symmetries necessary to have these symmetries realized in Snyder's space-time. A key feature of the construction is that the star product is non-associative.
We show that two indistinguishable aspects of the divergences occurring in the Casimir effect, namely the divergence of the energy of the higher modes and the non-com\-pact\-ness of the momentum space, get disentangled in a given noncommutative setup. To this end, we consider a scalar field between two parallel plates in an anti-Snyder space. Additionally, the large mass decay in this noncommutative setup is not necessarily exponential.
We analyze the model of a self-interacting $ϕ^4_{\star}$ scalar field theory in Snyder-de Sitter space. After analytically computing the one-loop beta functions {in the small noncommutativity and curvature limit}, we solve numerically the corresponding system of differential equations, showing that in this limit the model possesses at least one regime in which the theory is asymptotically free. Moreover, in a given region of the parameter space we also observe a peculiar running of the parameter associated to the curvature, which changes its sign and therefore can be interpreted as a transitio…
We study the $ϕ_{\star}^4$ model for a scalar field in a linearization of the Snyder model, using the methods of the Worldline Formalism. Our main result is a master equation for the 1-loop n-point function. From this we derive the renormalization of the coupling parameters of the theory and observe the appearance of a $ϕ^6$ divergent contribution that opens the question of whether this theory is renormalizable or not. Additionally, we observe that some terms in the renormalized action can be interpreted as coming from an effective metric proportional to the square of the field.
Families of vector-like deformed relativistic quantum phase spaces and corresponding realizations are analyzed. Method for general construction of star product is presented. Corresponding twist, expressed in terms of phase space coordinates, in Hopf algebroid sense is presented. General linear realizations are considered and corresponding twists, in terms of momenta and Poincaré-Weyl generators or $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ generators, are constructed and R-matrix is discussed. Classification of linear realizations leading to vector-like deformed phase spaces is given. There are 3 types of spaces: $i)…
We compute the spectrum of quasinormal frequencies of five-dimensional black holes obtained in noncommutative geometry. In particular, we study scalar perturbations of a massive scalar field adopting the 6th order WKB approximation. We investigate in detail the impact of the mass of the scalar field, the angular degree and the overtone number on the spectrum. All modes are found to be stable.
We study the issue of complex scalar field theories in noncommutative curved space time (NCCST) with a new star-product. In this paper, the equation of motion of scalar field and the canonical energy-momentum tensor of scalar field in static noncommutative curved space time (SNCCST) will be found. The most important point is the assumption of the noncommutative parameter ($θ$) be $x^{\m}$-independent, the noncommutativity with time attended (TNC) and the metric tensor is time independent.
We continue the study of the nocommutative $AdS_2 / CFT_1$ correspondence. We extend our previous results obtained for a free massless scalar field to the case of a massive scalar field. Both the free and interacting cases are considered. For both cases it is confirmed that to the leading order in noncommutative corrections the 2- and 3-point correlation functions have the form that is assumed by some (yet unspecified) dual $CFT$. We also argue that there does not exist a map which connects the commutative model to its non-commutative counterpart, and therefore the conformal behaviour of the n…
Quantisation of Lorentz invariant scalar field theory in Doplicher-Fredenhagen-Roberts (DFR) space-time, a Lorentz invariant, non-commutative space-time is studied. Absence of a unique Lagrangian in non-commutative space-time necessitates us to use an approach to quantisation that is based on the equations of motion alone. Using this we derive the equal time commutation relation between Doplicher-Fredenhagen-Roberts-Amorim (DFRA) scalar field and its conjugate, which has non-commutative dependent modifications, but the corresponding creation and annihilation operators obey usual algebra. We sh…
A classical solution where the (scalar) field value moves by an ${\cal O}(1)$ range in Planck units is believed to signal the breakdown of Effective Field Theory (EFT). One heuristic argument for this is that such a field will have enough energy to be inside its own Schwarzschild radius, and will result in collapse. In this paper, we consider an inverse problem: what kind of field ranges arise during the gravitational collapse of a classical field? Despite the fact that collapse has been studied for almost a hundred years, most of the discussion is phrased in terms of fluid stress tensors, and…
We study the non-inertial effects of a rotating frame on a spin-zero, Duffin-Kemmer-Petiau (DKP)-like oscillator in a cosmic string space-time with non-commutative geometry in the momentum space. The spin-zero DKP-like oscillator is obtained from the Klein-Gordon Lagrangian with a non-standard prescription for the oscillator coupling. We find that the solutions of the time-independent radial equation with the non-zero non-commutativity parameter parallel to the string are related to the confluent hypergeometric function. We find the quantized energy eigenvalues of the non-commutative oscillato…
We show how to construct correlators for the $CFT_1$ which is dual to non-commutative $AdS_2$ ($ncAdS_2$). We do it explicitly for the example of the massless scalar field on Euclidean $ncAdS_2$. $ncAdS_2$ is the quantization of $AdS_2$ that preserves all the isometries. It is described in terms of the unitary irreducible representations, more specifically discrete series representations, of $so(2,1)$. We write down symmetric differential representations for the discrete series, and then map them to functions on the Moyal-Weyl plane. The Moyal-Weyl plane has a large distance limit which can be…
The noncommutative scalar theory with harmonic term (on the Moyal space) has a vanishing beta function. In this paper, we prove the renormalizability of the commutative scalar field theory with harmonic term to all orders by using multiscale analysis in the momentum space. Then, we consider and compute its one-loop beta function, as well as the one on the degenerate Moyal space. We can finally compare both to the vanishing beta function of the theory with harmonic term on the Moyal space.
We study the thermodynamic properties of the Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) in the context of the quantum field theory with non-commutative target space. Our main goal is to investigate in which temperature and/or energy regimes the non-commutativity can characterize some influence in the BEC properties described by a relativistic massive non-commutative boson gas. The non-commutativity parameters play a key role in the modified dispersion relations of the non-commutative fields, leading to a new phenomenology. We have obtained the condensate fraction, internal energy, pressure and specific he…
In this contribution to the proceedings of the Corfu Summer Institute 2015, I give an overview over quantum field theories on non-commutative Moyal space and renormalization. In particular, I review the new features and challenges one faces when constructing various scalar, fermionic and gauge field theories on Moyal space, and especially how the UV/IR mixing problem was solved for certain models. Finally, I outline more recent progress in constructing a renormalizable gauge field model on non-commutative space, and how one might attempt to prove renormalizability of such a model using a gener…
Inspired by the structural unification of unitary groups (quantum field theory) with orthogonal groups (relativity) proposed recently through a non-division algebra, we construct a hypercomplex field theory with an internal symmetry that unifies the U(1) compact gauge group with the SO(1,1) noncompact gauge group, using the commutative ring of hypercomplex numbers. From the quantum field theory point of view, the hypercomplex field encodes two charged bosons with opposite charge, and corresponds thus to a neutral compound boson. Furthermore, normal or- dering of operators is not required for c…
