We prove a structure theorem for the fundamental group of the quotient $X$ of a product of curves by the action of a finite group $G$, hence for that of any resolution of the singularities of $X$.
We study moduli spaces of certain sextic curves with a singularity of multiplicity 3 from both perspectives of Deligne-Mostow theory and periods of K3 surfaces. In both ways we can describe the moduli spaces via arithmetic quotients of complex hyperbolic balls. We show in Theorem 7.4 that the two ball-quotient constructions can be unified in a geometric way.
The geometry of the ball quotient model of the moduli space of genus four curves
We provide a description of the fundamental group of the quotient of a product of topological spaces $X_i$, each admitting a universal cover, by a finite group $G$, provided that there is only a finite number of path-connected components in $X_i^g$ for every $g\in G$. This generalizes previous work of Bauer-Catanese-Grunewald-Pignatelli and Dedieu-Perroni.
We prove the existence of semiorthogonal decompositions of derived categories of Quot schemes of zero-dimensional quotients on curves in terms of derived categories of symmetric products of curves. The above result is a categorical analogue of a similar formula for the class of Quot schemes in the Grothendieck ring of varieties by Bagnarol-Fantechi-Perroni. It is a special case of a more general Quot formula of relative dimension one, which is regarded as a Bosonic counterpart of the Quot formula conjectured by Jiang and proved by the author. The proof involves categorical wall-crossing formul…
We complete the computation of all $\mathbb{Q}$-rational points on all the $64$ maximal Atkin-Lehner quotients $X_0(N)^*$ such that the quotient is hyperelliptic. To achieve this, we use a combination of various methods, namely the classical Chabauty--Coleman, elliptic curve Chabauty, quadratic Chabauty, and the bielliptic quadratic Chabauty method combined with the Mordell-Weil sieve. Additionally, for square-free levels $N$, we classify all $\mathbb{Q}$-rational points as cusps, CM points (including their CM field and $j$-invariants) and exceptional ones. We further indicate how to use this …
We prove Qingyuan Jiang's conjecture on semiorthogonal decompositions of derived categories of Quot schemes of locally free quotients. The author's result on categorified Hall products for Grassmannian flips is applied to prove the conjecture.
Let $N\geq 1$ be a non-square free integer and let $W_N$ be a non-trivial subgroup of the group of the Atkin-Lehner involutions of $X_0(N)$ such that the modular curve $X_0(N)/W_N$ has genus at least two. We determine all pairs $(N,W_N)$ such that $X_0(N)/W_N$ is a bielliptic curve and the pairs $(N,W_N)$ such that $X_0(N)/W_N$ has an infinite number of quadratic points over $\mathbb{Q}$.
A closed Riemann surface $S$ is called a generalized Fermat curve of type $(p,n)$, where $n,p \geq 2$ are integers such that $(p-1)(n-1)>2$, if it admits a group $H \cong {\mathbb Z}_{p}^{n}$ of conformal automorphisms with quotient orbifold $S/H$ of genus zero with exactly $n+1$ cone points, each one of order $p$; in this case $H$ is called a generalized Fermat group of type $(p,n)$. In this case, it is known that $S$ is non-hyperelliptic and that $H$ is its unique generalized Fermat group of type $(p,n)$. Also, explicit equations for them, as a fiber product of classical Fermat curves of deg…
In this paper the authors study quotients of the product of elliptic curves by a rigid diagonal action of a finite group $G$. It is shown that only for $G = \operatorname{He(3)}, \mathbb Z_3^2$, and only for dimension $\geq 4$ such an action can be free. A complete classification of the singular quotients in dimension 3 and the smooth quotients in dimension $4$ is given. For the other finite groups a strong structure theorem for rigid quotients is proven.
