Asymptotic expansions are given for large values of $n$ of the generalized Bernoulli polynomials $B_n^μ(z)$ and Euler polynomials $E_n^μ(z)$. In a previous paper López and Temme (1999) these polynomials have been considered for large values of $μ$, with $n$ fixed. In the literature no complete description of the large $n$ asymptotics of the considered polynomials is available. We give the general expansions, summarize known results of special cases and give more details about these results. We use two-point Taylor expansions for obtaining new type of expansions. The analysis is based on contour integrals that follow from the generating functions of the polynomials.
In this paper, we introduce The 2-variable unified family of generalized Apostol-Euler, Bernoulli and Genocchi polynomials and derive some implicit summation formulae and general symmetry identities. The result extend some known summations and identities of generalized Bernoulli, Euler and Genocchi numbers and polynomials.
The aim of this note is to provide a simple proof of some well-known identities and recurrences relating classical Bernoulli and Euler numbers by using the Abel sum of the divergent series $\sum_{n=0}^\infty (-1)^{n} (n+1)^k$, $k$ a positive integers. Special attention is placed on the fact that the numerical value of these sums is determined by the linearity of the summation method involved.
n this paper, we present $q$-Bernoulli and $q$-Euler polynomials generated by the third Jackson $q$-Bessel function to construct new types of $q$-Lidstone expansion theorem. We prove that the entire function may be expanded in terms of $q$-Lidstone polynomials which are $q$-Bernoulli polynomials and the coefficients are the even powers of the $q$-derivative $\frac{δ_q f(z)}{δ_q z}$ at $0$ and $1$. The other forms expand the function in $q$-Lidstone polynomials based on $q$-Euler polynomials and the coefficients contain the even and odd powers of the $q$-derivative $\frac{δ_q f(z)}{δ_q z}$.
Using continued fraction expansions of certain polygamma functions as a main tool, we find orthogonal polynomials with respect to the odd-index Bernoulli polynomials $B_{2k+1}(x)$ and the Euler polynomials $E_{2k+ν}(x)$, for $ν=0, 1, 2$. In the process we also determine the corresponding Jacobi continued fractions (or J-fractions) and Hankel determinants. In all these cases the Hankel determinants are polynomials in $x$ which factor completely over the rationals.
A new approach to the Euler-Bernoulli beam based on an inhomogeneous matrix string problem is presented. Three ramifications of the approach are developed: (1) motivated by an analogy with the Camassa-Holm equation a class of isospectral deformations of the beam problem is formulated; (2) a reformulation of the matrix string problem in terms of a certain compact operator is used to obtain basic spectral properties of the inhomogeneous matrix string problem with Dirichlet boundary conditions; (3) the inverse problem is solved for the special case of a discrete Euler-Bernoulli beam. The solution…
The main purpose of this paper is to show some relations between the Riemann zeta function and the generalized Bernoulli polynomials of level $m$. Our approach is based on the use of Fourier expansions for the periodic generalized Bernoulli functions of level $m$, as well as quadrature formulae of Euler-Maclaurin type. Some illustrative examples involving such relations are also given.
The main aim of this article is a careful investigation of the asymptotic behavior of zeros of Bernoulli polynomials of the second kind. It is shown that the zeros are all real and simple. The asymptotic expansions for the small, large, and the middle zeros are computed in more detail. The analysis is based on the asymptotic expansions of the Bernoulli polynomials of the second kind in various regimes.
We provide a multidimensional weighted Euler--MacLaurin summation formula on polytopes and a multidimensional generalization of a result due to L. J. Mordell on the series expansion in Bernoulli polynomials. These results are consequences of a more general series expansion; namely, if $χ_{τ\mathcal{P}}$ denotes the characteristic function of a dilated integer convex polytope $\mathcal{P}$ and $q$ is a function with suitable regularity, we prove that the periodization of $qχ_{τ\mathcal{P}}$ admits an expansion in terms of multivariate Bernoulli polynomials. These multivariate polynomials are re…
We study a class of linear ordinary differential equations (ODE)s with distributional coefficients. These equations are defined using an {\it intrinsic} multiplicative product of Schwartz distributions which is an extension of the Hörmander product of distributions with non-intersecting singular supports [L. Hörmander, The Analysis of Linear Partial Diffe\-rential Operators I, Springer-Verlag, 1983]. We provide a regularization procedure for these ODEs and prove an existence and uniqueness theorem for their solutions. We also determine the conditions for which the solutions are regular and dis…
We show that each member of a doubly infinite sequence of highly nonlinear expressions of Bernoulli polynomials, which can be seen as linear combinations of certain higher-order convolutions, is a multiple of a specific product of linear factors. The special case of Bernoulli numbers has important applications in the study of multiple Tornheim zeta functions. The proof of the main result relies on properties of Eulerian polynomials and higher-order Bernoulli polynomials.
