Connections between different M2-brane theories are established via the Higgs mechanism, which can be most efficiently studied on brane tilings. This leads to several M2-brane models, with brane tilings or Chern-Simons levels which have not been considered so far. The moduli spaces of these models are identified and examined in detail. The toric diagrams are constructed using Kasteleyn matrices and the forward algorithm.
We analyze intersecting brane models on toroidal orbifolds T^4/Z_N(N=3,4,6). Focusing on several Higgsing processes of intersecting brane models, we have some insights into the matter spectrum on intersecting branes away from orientifold planes. The matter fields in the adjoint representations of the gauge group on branes can arise when brane intersects the orientifold images. Gauge group and matter spectrum are confirmed using Chan-Paton methods with the Higgsing processes.
We give a description of open strings stretched between N parallel D-branes in VSFT. We show how higgsing is generated as the branes are displaced: the shift in the mass formula for on-shell states stretched between different branes is due to a twist anomaly, a contribution localized at the midpoint.
We study various aspects of N=2 quiver-Chern-Simons theories, conjectured to be dual to M2-branes at toric Calabi-Yau four-fold singularities, under Higgsing. In particular we study in detail the orbifold C^4/Z_2^3, obtaining a number of different quiver-Chern-Simons phases for this model, and all 18 toric partial resolutions thereof. In the process we develop a general un-Higgsing algorithm that allows one to construct quiver-Chern-Simons theories by blowing up, thus obtaining a plethora of new models. In addition we explain how turning on torsion G-flux non-trivially affects the supergravity…
N=2 quiver Chern-Simons theory has lately attracted attention as the world volume theory of multiple M2 branes on a Calabi-Yau 4-fold. We study the connection between the stringy derivation of M2 brane theories and the forward algorithm which gives the toric Calabi-Yau 4-fold as the moduli space of the quiver theory. Then the existence of the 3+1 dimensional parent, which is the consistent 3+1 dimensional superconformal theory with the same quiver diagram, is crucial for stringy derivation of M2 brane theories. We also investigate the construction of M2 brane theories that do not have 3+1 dime…
We study the Higgsing and UnHiggsing of M2-brane theories that probe cones over smooth toric Fano 3-folds, via brane tilings. We find many new examples of M2-brane gauge theories not studied previously in the literature, including those that do not correspond to cones over Fano varieties. Our analysis also provides, upon unHiggsing the known Fano varieties, new examples of quiver gauge theories that describe the same toric variety, but with external point multiplicities. As a byproduct of our results, we discuss an example of a CY 4-fold that does not have a tiling description, and study the H…
We propose Type IIB 5-brane configurations that engineer the 6d $\mathcal{N}=(1,0)$ SCFTs with $SO(N)$ gauge symmetry coupled to a single tensor multiplet on a circle, by considering RG flows on Higgs branches of $D$-type conformal matter theories. We test the brane systems against known Calabi-Yau threefolds for the 6d SCFTs on a circle. In addition we study a new RG flow involving Higgs vevs of scalar operators with Kaluza-Klein momentum along the circle. The new RG flow results in the 5-brane webs for the 6d SCFTs of $D_N$ gauge symmetry compactified on a circle with $Z_2$ outer-automorphis…
We study large classes of renormalization group flows, driven by scalar expectation values or mesonic superpotential terms, away from the conformal fixed points of the 4d supersymmetric gauge theories with $ADE$-type superpotentials. The $a$-maximization procedure allows us to compute the $R$ charges and to check the $a$-theorem conjecture. For a theory obtained by Higgsing the $D_{k+2}$ theory, we use the magnetic dual description proposed by Brodie to determine the parameter region where the resulting theory is at a non-trivial conformal fixed point.
For three-dimensional ABJ(M) theories and $\mathcal N=4$ Chern-Simons-matter quiver theories, we construct two sets of 1/2 BPS Wilson loop operators by applying the Higgsing procedure along independent directions of the moduli space, and choosing different massive modes. For theories whose dual M-theory description is known, we also determine the corresponding spectrum of 1/2 BPS M2-brane solutions. We identify the supercharges in M-theory and field theory, as well as the supercharges preserved by M2-/anti-M2-branes and 1/2 BPS Wilson loops. In particular, in $\mathcal N=4$ orbifold ABJM theor…
We explore 6d (1,0) superconformal field theories with SU(3) and SU(2) gauge symmetries which cascade after Higgsing to the E-string theory on a single M5 near an $E_8$ wall. Specifically, we study the 2d $\mathcal{N}=(0,4)$ gauge theories which describe self-dual strings of these 6d theories. The self-dual strings can be also viewed as instanton string solitons of 6d Yang-Mills theories. We find the 2d anomaly-free gauge theories for self-dual strings, amending the naive ADHM gauge theories which are anomalous, and calculate their elliptic genera. While these 2d theories respect the flavor sy…
We introduce a class of Higgs-branch RG flows in theories of class-S, which flow between $d=4$ $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs of the same ADE type. We discuss two applications of this class of RG flows: 1) determining the current-algebra levels in SCFTs where they were previously unknown - a program we carry out for the class-S theories of type $E_6$ and $E_7$ - and 2) constructing a multitude of examples of pairs of $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs whose "conventional invariants" coincide. We disprove the conjecture of [1] that the global form of the flavour symmetry group is a reliable diagnostic for determinin…
We consider Type IIB 5-brane web diagrams for a 5D $Sp(N)$ gauge theory with an antisymmetric hypermultiplet and $N_f$ fundamental hypermultiplets. The corresponding 5-branes can be obtained by Higgsing a 5-brane web for quiver gauge theory. We use the refined topological vertex formalism to compute Nekrasov partition functions of 5D $Sp(2)$ theories with one antisymmetric hypermultiplet and flavors. Our results agree with the known results obtained from the ADHM method. We also discuss a particular tuning of Kähler parameters associated with this Higgsing.
We study the open-string moduli of supersymmetric D6-branes, addressing both the string and field theory aspects of D6-brane splitting on Type IIA orientifolds induced by open-string moduli Higgsing (i.e., their obtaining VEVs). Specifically, we focus on the Z_2 x Z_2 orientifolds and address the symmetry breaking pattern for D6-branes parallel with the orientifold 6-planes as well as those positioned at angles. We demonstrate that the string theory results, i.e., D6-brane splitting and relocating in internal space, are in one to one correspondence with the field theory results associated with…
Using topological string techniques, we compute BPS counting functions of 5d gauge theories which descend from 6d superconformal field theories upon circle compactification. Such theories are naturally organized in terms of nodes of Higgsing trees. We demonstrate that the specialization of the partition function as we move from the crown to the root of a tree is determined by homomorphisms between rings of Weyl invariant Jacobi forms. Our computations are made feasible by the fact that symmetry enhancements of the gauge theory which are manifest on the massless spectrum are inherited by the en…
We construct novel web diagrams with a trivalent or quadrivalent gluing for various 6d/5d theories from certain Higgsings of 6d conformal matter theories on a circle. The theories realized on the web diagrams include 5d Kaluza-Klein theories from circle compactifications of the 6d $G_2$ gauge theory with 4 flavors, the 6d $F_4$ gauge theory with 3 flavors, the 6d $E_6$ gauge theory with 4 flavors and the 6d $E_7$ gauge theory with 3 flavors. The Higgsings also give rise to 5d Kaluza-Klein theories from twisted compactifications of 6d theories including the 5d pure SU(3) gauge theory with the C…
We construct explicitly new solutions of type IIB supergravity with brane sources, the duals of which are N = 1 supersymmetric field theories exhibiting two very interesting phenomena. The far UV dynamics is controlled by a cascade of Seiberg dualities analogous to the Klebanov- Strassler backgrounds. At intermediate scales a cascade of Higgsing appears, in the sense that the gauge group undergoes a sequence of spontaneous symmetry breaking steps which reduces its rank. Deep in the IR, the theory confines, and the gravity background has a non-singular end of space. We explain in detail how to …
Using a six-orientifold, fourbranes and four fivebranes in type IIA string theory we construct $\mathcal{N}$=1 supersymmetric gauge theories in four dimensions with product group $SU(M)\times SO(N)$ or $SU(M)\times Sp(2N)$, a bifundamental flavor and quarks. We obtain the Seiberg dual for these theories and rederive it via branes. To obtain the complete dual group via branes we have to add semi-infinite fourbranes. We propose that the theory derived from branes has a meson deformation switched on. This deformation implies higgsing in the dual theory. The addition of the semi-infinite fourbrane…
We propose 5-brane webs for 5d $\mathcal{N}=1$ $G_2$ gauge theories. From a Higgsing of the $SO(7)$ gauge theory with a hypermultiplet in the spinor representation, we construct two types of 5-brane web configurations for the pure $G_2$ gauge theory using an O5-plane or an $\widetilde{\text{O5}}$-plane. Adding flavors to the 5-brane web for the pure $G_2$ gauge theory is also discussed. Based on the obtained 5-brane webs, we compute the partition functions for the 5d $G_2$ gauge theories using the recently suggested topological vertex formulation with an O5-plane, and we find agreement with kn…
We initiate a systematic study of 2d (0,2) quiver gauge theories on the worldvolume of D1-branes probing singular toric Calabi-Yau 4-folds. We present an algorithm for efficiently calculating the classical mesonic moduli spaces of these theories, which correspond to the probed geometries. We also introduce a systematic procedure for constructing the gauge theories for arbitrary toric singularities by means of partial resolution, which translates to higgsing in the field theory. Finally, we introduce Brane Brick Models, a novel class of brane configurations that consist of D4-branes suspended f…
We consider $(2+1)$-dimensional mass-deformed SYM theories and their M-theory origin. These are obtained from MP Higgsing of ABJM theory with constant flux and fixing the mass terms via supersymmetry completion. Depending on the choice of the flux, we obtain ${\cal N}=1$, ${\cal N}=2$, and ${\cal N}=4$ mass-deformed SYM theories. For each of these cases we solve the vacuum equation and obtain the fuzzy two sphere solution for the first two cases. We also discuss the D-brane interpretation of the obtained mass-deformed SYM theories.
In this paper we will analyse a system of multiple M2-branes in between two M5-branes. This will be analysed by studying Bagger-Lambert-Gustavsson (BLG) theory on a manifold with two boundaries. The original BLG theory will be modified to make it gauge and supersymmetric invariant in presence of the boundaries. However, this modified theory will only preserve half the supersymmetry of the original theory. We will also analyse the deformation of this theory caused by noncommutativity between Grassman coordinates and spacetime coordinates. Finally, we will analyse the Higgsing of this theory to …
We explain how to construct a large class of new quiver gauge theories from branes at singularities by orientifolding and Higgsing old examples. The new models include the MSSM, decoupled from gravity, as well as some classic models of dynamical SUSY breaking. We also discuss topological criteria for unification.
We introduce a systematic approach to constructing $\mathcal{N}=1$ Lagrangians for a class of interacting $\mathcal{N}=2$ SCFTs. We analyse in detail the simplest case of the construction, arising from placing branes at an orientifolded $\mathbb{C}^2/\mathbb{Z}_2$ singularity. In this way we obtain Lagrangian descriptions for all the $R_{2,k}$ theories. The rank one theories in this class are the $E_6$ Minahan-Nemeschansky theory and the $C_2\times U(1)$ Argyres-Wittig theory. The Lagrangians that arise from our brane construction manifestly exhibit either the entire expected flavour symmetry …
Supersymmetric gauge theories have an important but perhaps under-appreciated notion of a master space, which controls the full moduli space. For world-volume theories of D-branes probing a Calabi-Yau singularity X the situation is particularly illustrative. In the case of one physical brane, the master space F is the space of F-terms and a particular quotient thereof is X itself. We study various properties of F which encode such physical quantities as Higgsing, BPS spectra, hidden global symmetries, etc. Using the plethystic program we also discuss what happens at higher number N of branes. …
In this note we review the construction of topologically gauged M2 branes with 6 supersymmetries and discuss some of its properties. This is done using the 3-algebra formulation thereby covering all possible gauge groups. We will elaborate upon 1) the fundamental identity and its solutions noting, provided these gauged theories describe stacks of branes, the case of a single brane, 2) the chiral point solution to the field equations (occuring even for a single brane) that breaks the superconformal symmetries down to those of AdS_3 (TMG) supergravity, 3) physical parameters and how they scale i…
We consider type IIB $SL(2,\mathbb{Z})$ symmetry to relate the partition functions of different 5d supersymmetric Abelian linear quiver Yang-Mills theories in the $Ω$-background and squashed $S^5$ background. By Higgsing S-dual theories, we extract new and old 3d mirror pairs. Generically, the Higgsing procedure yields 3d defects on intersecting spaces, and we derive new hyperbolic integral identities expressing the equivalence of the squashed $S^3$ partition functions with additional degrees of freedom on the $S^1$ intersection.
We study correlations between the massless field spectra of F-theory fibrations supporting an $SU(5)$ gauge symmetry extended by Abelian symmetries and the spectra that arise from the group $E_8$. The adjoint representation of $E_8$ leads to six different classes of matter spectra upon Higgsing $E_8$ to $SU(5)\times U(1)^n$. Of 27 different smooth F-theory elliptic fibrations constructed in the literature, satisfying certain genericness and flatness criteria, the matter spectrum of only one can be embedded in these six theories, thereby apparently ruling out any connection. We define an extens…
We compute the 3d N = 2 superconformal indices for 3d/1d coupled systems, which arise as the worldvolume theories of intersecting surface defects engineered by Higgsing 5d N = 1 gauge theories. We generalize some known 3d dualities, including non-Abelian 3d mirror symmetry and 3d/3d correspondence, to some of the simple 3d/1d coupled systems. Finally we propose a q-Virasoro construction for the superconformal indices.
We present a general prescription by which we can systematically compute exact partition functions of five-dimensional supersymmetric theories which arise in Higgs branches of the $T_N$ theory. The theories may be realized by webs of 5-branes whose dual geometries are non-toric. We have checked our method by calculating the partition functions of the theories realized in various Higgs branches of the $T_3$ theory. A particularly interesting example is the $E_8$ theory which can be obtained by Higgsing the $T_6$ theory. We explicitly compute the partition function of the $E_8$ theory and find t…
We describe a block-spin-like transformation on a simplified subset of the space of supersymmetric quiver gauge theories that arise on the worldvolumes of D-brane probes of orbifold geometries, by sequentially Higgsing the gauge symmetry in these theories. This process flows to lower worldvolume energies in the regions of the orbifold moduli space where the closed string blowup modes, and therefore the expectation values of the bifundamental scalars, exhibit a hierarchy of scales. Lifting to the ``upstairs'' matrices of the image branes makes contact with the matrix coarse-graining defined in …
We generalize the (p,q) 5-brane web construction of five-dimensional field theories by introducing (p,q) 7-branes, and apply this construction to theories with a one-dimensional Coulomb branch. The 7-branes render the exceptional global symmetry of these theories manifest. Additionally, 7-branes allow the construction of all E_n theories up to n=8, previously not possible in 5-brane configurations. The exceptional global symmetry in the field theory is a subalgebra of an affine symmetry on the 7-branes, which is necessary for the existence of the system. We explicitly determine the quantum num…
We show that the NCOS (noncommutative open string) theories on torus $T^p$ ($p\leq 5$) are U-dual to matrix theory on torus with electric flux background. Under U-duality, the number of D-branes and the number of units of electric flux get interchanged. Furthermore under the same U-duality the decoupling limit taken in the NCOS theory maps to the decoupling limit taken in the matrix theory, thus ensure the U-duality between those two class of theories. We consider the energy needed for Higgsing process and some bound states with finite energy and find agreements in both theories.
A single M5-brane probing G, an ADE-type singularity, leads to a system which has G x G global symmetry and can be viewed as "bifundamental" (G,G) matter. For the A_N series, this leads to the usual notion of bifundamental matter. For the other cases it corresponds to a strongly interacting (1,0) superconformal system in six dimensions. Similarly, an ADE singularity intersecting the Horava-Witten wall leads to a superconformal matter system with E_8 x G global symmetry. Using the F-theory realization of these theories, we elucidate the Coulomb/tensor branch of (G,G') conformal matter. This lea…
We analyze four-dimensional (4d) $N=1$ superconformal field theories (SCFTs) obtained as deformations of 4d $N=2$ SCFTs on S-folds by tilting 7-branes. Geometric compatibility with the structures of S-folds constrains the forms of T-branes. As a result, brane monodromies are constrained. We also discuss two 4d $N=1$ theories on probe D3-branes, where the two theories behave identically in IR, but they originate from different theories in UV. Studying the global structure of their geometry is useful in constructing these two theories.
We investigate (2+1)-dimensional quiver Chern-Simons theories that arise from the study of M2-branes probing toric Calabi-Yau 4-folds. These theories can be elegantly described using brane tilings. We present several theories that admit a tiling description and give details of these theories including the toric data of their mesonic moduli space and the structure of both their Master space and baryonic moduli space. Where different toric phases are known, we exhibit the equivalence between the vacua. We identify some of the mesonic moduli spaces as cones over smooth toric Fano 3-folds.
In this paper we will construct all BPS and non-BPS D-branes in Type IIA and Type IIB theories from tachyon condensation. We also propose form of Wess-Zumino term for non-BPS D-brane and we will show that tachyon condensation in this term leads to standard Wess-Zumino term for BPS D-brane.
We use fractional and wrapped branes to describe perturbative and nonperturbative properties of the gauge theories living on their worldvolume. (Talk given at the 35th International Symposium Ahrenshoop on the Theory of Elementary Particles, Wernsdorf, August 26-30, 2002.)
We study brane configurations which correspond to N=1 field theories in four dimensions. By inverting the order of the NS 5-branes and D6-branes, a check on dualities in four dimensional theories can be made. We consider a brane configuration which yields electric/magnetic duality for gauge theories with $SO(N_{c1})\times Sp(N_{c2})$ product gauge group. We also discuss the possible extension to any alternating product of SO and Sp groups. The new features arising from the intersection of the NS 5-branes on the orientifold play a crucial role in our construction.
We discuss issues related to orientifolds and the brane realization for gauge theories with orthogonal and symplectic groups. We specifically discuss the case of theories with (hidden) global SO(2n) symmetry, from three to six dimensions. We analyze mirror symmetry for three dimensional N=4 gauge theories, Brane Box Models and six-dimensional gauge theories. We also discuss the issue of T-duality for D_n space-time singularities. Stuck D branes on ON^0 planes play an interesting role.
We study monopole-instantons in M2-brane theories, focussing on the ABJM class of Chern-Simons gauge theories coupled to matter. We calculate calculate explicitly the 8-fermion term in the effective action induced by these monopole-instantons, and discuss their role in resolving a classical singularity in the moduli space. The results are compared with monopole-instantons in N=8 3d SYM and D-brane theories, as well the dual supergravity description as a membrane scattering process.
In this paper we continue the study of non-relativistic p+1 dimensional theories that we started at arXiv:0904.1343. We extend the analysis presented there to the case of stable and unstable Dp-branes.
We study world-volume effective theories of five-branes in type II string theories. We determine the bosonic zero-modes of the NS5-brane, the Kaluza-Klein monopole, the exotic Q5-, R5-branes and a space-filling brane, by direct calculations within the formalism of double field theory (DFT). We show that these zero-modes are Nambu-Goldstone modes associated with the spontaneously broken gauge symmetries in DFT. They are organized into the bosonic part of the six-dimensional $\mathcal{N} = (1,1)$ vector and the $\mathcal{N} = (2,0)$ tensor multiplets. Among other things, we examine the locally n…
Engineering quantum field theories in String Theory in terms of branes is a powerful approach for understanding their dynamics. We review recent progress in the realization of $2d$ $\mathcal{N}=(0,2)$ gauge theories in terms of branes. We discuss Brane Brick Models, a new class of Type IIA brane configurations which are T-dual to D1-branes over singular toric Calabi-Yau 4-folds. They fully encode the infinite class of $2d$ $\mathcal{N}=(0,2)$ quiver gauge theories on the worldvolume of the D1-branes and significantly streamline their connection to the probed geometries. As an application, we e…
We use dyonic brane configurations of type 0 string theory to study large N non-supersymmetric 4d gauge theories. The brane configurations define theories similar to the supersymmetric ones which arise in type II. We find the non-SUSY analogues of N=2 and N=1. In particular we suggest new non-SUSY CFT's and a brane realization of a non-SUSY Seiberg duality.
We study phase transitions induced by topological defects in Abelian gauge theories of open p-branes in (d+1) space-time dimensions. Starting from a massive antisymmetric tensor theory for open p-branes we show how the condensation of topological defects can lead to a decoupled phase with a massless tensor coupled to closed (p-1)-branes and a massive tensor coupled to open (p+1)-branes. We also consider the case, relevant in string theory, in which the boundaries of the p-branes are constrained to live on a Dirichlet n-branes.
We construct non-supersymmetric four dimensional gauge theories arising as effective theories of D-branes placed on various singularities in Type 0B string theory. We mostly focus on models which are conformal in the large N limit and present both examples appearing on self-dual D3-branes on orbifold singularities and examples including orientifold planes. Moreover, we derive type 0 Hanany-Witten setups with NS 5-branes intersected by D-branes and the corresponding rules for determining the massless spectra. Finally, we discuss possible duality symmetries (Seiberg-duality) for non-supersymmetr…
We study N=1 four dimensional quiver theories arising on the worldvolume of D3-branes at del Pezzo singularities of Calabi-Yau threefolds. We argue that under local mirror symmetry D3-branes become D6-branes wrapped on a three torus in the mirror manifold. The type IIB (p,q) 5-brane web description of the local del Pezzo, being closely related to the geometry of its mirror manifold, encodes the geometry of 3-cycles and is used to obtain gauge groups, quiver diagrams and the charges of the fractional branes.
We discuss the role of D0-branes as instantons in the construction of SU(N) Super Yang-Mills and Super QCD theories in four space-time dimensions with D4-, D6- and NS-branes. [To appear in the proceedings of the conference "Quantum Aspects of Gauge Theories, Supersymmetry and Unification", held at Neuchatel University, Neuchatel, Switzerland, 18--23 September 1997.]
Recent paper arXiv:1103.0553 studied the quiver gauge theories on coincident $M2$ branes on a singular toric Calabi-Yau 4-folds which are complex cone over toric Fano 3-folds. There are 18 toric Fano manifolds but only 14 toric Fano were obtained from the forward algorithm. We attempt to systematize the inverse algorithm which helps in obtaining quiver gauge theories on $M2$-branes from the toric data of the Calabi-Yau 4-folds. In particular, we obtain quiver gauge theories on coincident $M2$-branes corresponding to the remaining 4 toric Fano 3-folds. We observe that these quiver gauge theorie…
We solve the Killing spinor equations of 6-dimensional (1,0) superconformal theories which include hyper-multiplets in all cases. We show that the solutions preserve 1,2,3,4 and 8 supersymmetries. We find models with self-dual string solitons which are smooth and supported by instantons with an arbitrary gauge group, and 3-brane solitons as expected from the M-brane intersection rules.
The effective action for five-dimensional heterotic M-theory in the presence of five-branes is systematically derived from Horava-Witten theory coupled to an M5-brane world-volume theory. This leads to a five-dimensional N=1 gauged supergravity theory on S^1/Z_2 coupled to four-dimensional N=1 theories residing on the two orbifold fixed planes and an additional bulk three-brane. We analyse the properties of this action, particularly the four-dimensional effective theory associated with the domain-wall vacuum state. The moduli Kahler potential and the gauge-kinetic functions are determined alon…
It has been recently argued that Higgsing of theories with $U(1)^n$ gauge interactions consistent with the Weak Gravity Conjecture (WGC) may lead to effective field theories parametrically violating WGC constraints. The minimal examples typically involve Higgs scalars with a large charge with respect to a $U(1)$ (e.g. charges $(Z,1)$ in $U(1)^2$ with $Z\gg 1$). This type of Higgs multiplets play also a key role in clockwork $U(1)$ theories. We study these issues in the context of heterotic string theory and find that, while indeed there is no new physics at the standard magnetic WGC scale $Λ\s…
A new infinite class of Chern-Simons theories is presented using brane tilings. The new class reproduces all known cases so far and introduces many new models that are dual to M2 brane theories which probe a toric non-compact CY 4-fold. The master space of the quiver theory is used as a tool to construct the moduli space for this class and the Hilbert Series is computed for a selected set of examples.
We consider a general brane construction for realizing chiral four-dimensional gauge theories. The advantage of the construction is the simplicity and the possibility of realizing a large class of models existing in the literature. We start the study of these models by determining the matter content and the superpotential which naturally arise in the brane construction.
We study quiver gauge theories on D7-branes wrapped over vanishing holomorphic 4-cycles. We investigate how to incorporate O7-planes and/or flavor D7-branes, which are necessary to cancel anomalies. These theories are chiral, preserve four supercharges and exhibit very rich infrared dynamics. Geometric transitions and duality in the presence of O-planes are analyzed. We study the Higgs branch of these quiver theories, showing the emergence of fuzzy internal dimensions. This branch is related to noncommutative instantons on the divisor wrapped by the seven-branes. Our results have a natural app…
