Any map of schemes $X\to Y$ defines an equivalence relation $R=X\times_Y X\to X\times X$, the relation of "being in the same fiber". We have shown elsewhere that not every equivalence relation has this form, even if it is assumed to be finite. By contrast, we prove here that every toric equivalence relation on an affine toric variety does come from a morphism and that quotients by finite toric equivalence relations always exist in the affine case. In special cases, this result is a consequence of the vanishing of the first cohomology group in the Amitsur complex associated to a toric map of toric algebras. We prove more generally the exactness of the Amitsur complex for maps of commutative monoid rings.
We prove the equality of the Makar-Limanov invariant and the modified Makar-Limanov invariant in the case of not necessary normal affine toric varieties. Also we give a combinatorial description of these invariants.
We study the Fulton-Macpherson Chow cohomology of affine toric varieties. In particular, we prove that the Chow cohomology vanishes in positive degree. We prove an analogous result for the operational $K$-theory defined by Anderson and Payne.
We prove that up to automorphisms a line admits a unique embedding into the regular part of of a simplicial toric variety of dimension n>=4 over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero which is smooth in codimension 2.
The Remodeling Conjecture proposed by Bouchard-Klemm-Marino-Pasquetti [arXiv:0709.1453, arXiv:0807.0597] relates all genus open and closed Gromov-Witten invariants of a semi-projective toric Calabi-Yau 3-manifolds/3-orbifolds to the Eynard-Orantin invariants of the mirror curve of the toric Calabi-Yau 3-fold. In this paper, we present a proof of the Remodeling Conjecture for open-closed orbifold Gromov-Witten invariants of an arbitrary affine toric Calabi-Yau 3-orbifold relative to a framed Aganagic-Vafa Lagrangian brane. This can be viewed as an all genus open-closed mirror symmetry for affin…
We study affine toric varieties with an action of group $SL_n$ with a dense orbit. A characterisation in terms of $SL_n \times Q$-modules is given where $Q$ is a quasitorus. This characterisation is more explicitly expanded in case $n=3$. It is shown that in case $n=3$ the class group rank is not greater than $3$, however it is unbounded when $n\geq 4$.
For an affine toric variety $\spec(A)$, we give a convex geometric interpretation of the Gerstenhaber product $\HH^2(A)\times \HH^2(A)\to \HH^3(A)$ between the Hochschild cohomology groups. In the case of Gorenstein toric surfaces we prove that the Gerstenhaber product is the zero map. As an application in commutative deformation theory we find the equations of the versal base space (in special lattice degrees) up to second order for not necessarily isolated toric Gorenstein singularities. Our construction reproves and generalizes results obtained in [1] and [13].
We state two conjectures that together allow one to describe the set of smoothing components of a Gorenstein toric affine 3-fold in terms of a combinatorially defined and easily studied set of Laurent polynomials called 0-mutable polynomials. We explain the origin of the conjectures in mirror symmetry and present some of the evidence.
We study integral dlt models of a proper C((t))-variety X along a toric stratum of the special fiber. We prove that the associated Berkovich retraction - from the non-archimedean analytification of X onto the dual complex of the model - is an affinoid torus fibration around the simplex corresponding to the toric stratum, which extends results from Nicaise-Xu-Yu. This allows us to construct new types of non-archimedean retractions for maximally degenerate families of quartic K3 surfaces and quintic 3-folds, by gluing several non-archimedean SYZ fibrations, each one toric along a codimension one…
Given the same anti-canonical linear system on two distinct toric varieties, we provide a derived equivalence between partial crepant resolutions of the corresponding stacky hypersurfaces. The applications include: a derived unification of toric mirror constructions, calculations of Picard lattices for linear systems of quartic surfaces, and a birational reduction of Reid's list to 81 families.
We extend the Altmann--Mavlyutov construction of homogeneous deformations of affine toric varieties to the case of toric pairs $(X, \partial X)$, where $X$ is an affine or projective toric variety and $\partial X$ is its toric boundary. As an application, we generalise a result due to Ilten to the case of Fano toric pairs.
An ind-variety is an inductive limit of closed embeddings of algebraic varieties and an ind-group is a group object in the category of ind-varieties. These notions were first introduced by Shafarevich in the study of the automorphism group of affine spaces and have been studied by many authors afterwards. An ind-torus is an ind-group obtained as an inductive limit of closed embeddings of algebraic tori that are also algebraic group homomorphisms. In this paper, we introduce the natural definition of toric ind-varieties as ind-varieties having an ind-torus as an open set and such that the actio…
For an affine toric variety $\mathrm{Spec}(A)$, we give a convex geometric description of the Hodge decomposition of its Hochschild cohomology. Under certain assumptions we compute the dimensions of the Hodge summands $T^1_{(i)}(A)$, generalizing the existing results about the Andre-Quillen cohomology group $T^1_{(1)}(A)$. We prove that every Poisson structure on a possibly singular affine toric variety can be quantized in the sense of deformation quantization.
We construct a differential graded Lie algebra $\fg$ controlling the Poisson deformations of an affine Poisson variety. We analyse $\fg$ in the case of affine Gorenstein toric Poisson varieties. Moreover, explicit description of the second and third Hochschild cohomology groups is given for three-dimensional affine Gorenstein toric varieties.
In this paper we prove that if two normal affine surfaces $S$ and $S'$ have isomorphic automorphism groups, then every connected algebraic group acting regularly and faithfully on $S$ acts also regularly and faithfully on $S'$. Moreover, if $S$ is non-toric, we show that the dynamical type of a 1-torus action is preserved in presence of an additive group action. We also show that complex affine toric surfaces are determined by the abstract group structure of their regular automorphism groups in the category of complex normal affine surfaces using properties of the Cremona group. As a generaliz…
We study deformations of affine toric varieties. The entire deformation theory of these singularities is encoded by the so-called versal deformation. The main goal of our paper is to construct the homogeneous part of some degree -R of this, i.e. a maximal deformation with prescribed tangent space T^1(-R) for a given character R. To this aim we use the polyhedron obtained by cutting the rational cone defining the affine singularity with the hyperplane defined by [R=1]. Under some length assumptions on the edges of this polyhedron, we provide the versal deformation for primitive degrees R.
We show that every 3-dimensional affine normal quasihomogeneous $SL(2)$-variety has an equivariant resolution of singularities given by an invariant Hilbert scheme. This article treats the case where such $SL(2)$-variety is toric. The non-toric case is considered in the forthcoming article [Kub18].
Given a toric affine algebraic variety $X$ and a collection of one-parameter unipotent subgroups $U_1,\ldots,U_s$ of $\mathop{\rm Aut}(X)$ which are normalized by the torus acting on $X$, we show that the group $G$ generated by $U_1,\ldots,U_s$ verifies the following alternative of Tits' type: either $G$ is a unipotent algebraic group, or it contains a non-abelian free subgroup. We deduce that if $G$ is $2$-transitive on a $G$-orbit in $X$, then $G$ contains a non-abelian free subgroup, and so, is of exponential growth.
Given a Fano complete intersection defined by sections of a collection nef line bundles $L_1,\ldots, L_c$ on a Fano toric manifold $Y$, a construction of Givental/Hori-Vafa provides a mirror-dual Landau-Ginzburg model. This construction depends on a choice of suitable nef partition; that is, a partition of the rays of the fan determined by $Y$. We show that toric Landau-Ginzburg models constructed from different nef partitions representing the same complete intersection are related by a volume preserving birational map. In particular, various Laurent polynomial mirrors which may be obtained fr…
