Bi-presymplectic chains of one-forms of co-rank one are considered. The conditions in which such chains represent some Liouville integrable systems and the conditions in which there exist related bi-Hamiltonian chains of vector fields are derived. To present the construction of bi-presymplectic chains, the notion of dual Poisson-presymplectic pair is used and the concept of d-compatibility of Poisson bivectors and d-compatibility of presymplectic forms is introduced. It is shown that bi-presymplectic representation of related flow leads directly to the construction of separation coordinates in purely algorithmic way. As an illustration bi-presymplectic and bi-Hamiltonian chains in ${\mathbb R}^3$ are considered in detail.
Liouville integrable systems, which have bi-Hamiltonian representation of the Gel'fand-Zakharevich type, are considered. Bi-presymplectic representation of one-Casimir bi-Hamiltonian chains and weakly bi-presymplectic representation of multi-Casimir bi-Hamiltonian chains are constructed. The reduction procedure for Poisson and presymplectic structures is presented.
Bi-presymplectic chains of one-forms of arbitrary co-rank are considered. The conditions in which such chains represent some Liouville integrable systems and the conditions in which there exist related bi-Hamiltonian chains of vector fields are presented. In order to derived the construction of bi-presymplectic chains, the notions of dual Poisson-presymplectic pair, d-compatibility of presymplectic forms and d-compatibility of Poisson bivectors is used. The completely algorithmic construction of separation coordinates is demonstrated. It is also proved that Stäckel separable systems have bi-in…
We consider deformations of sequences of cluster mutations in finite type cluster algebras, which destroy the Laurent property but preserve the presymplectic structure defined by the exchange matrix. The simplest example is the Lyness 5-cycle, arising from the cluster algebra of type $A_2$: this deforms to the Lyness family of integrable symplectic maps in the plane. For types $A_3$ and $A_4$ we find suitable conditions such that the deformation produces a two-parameter family of Liouville integrable maps (in dimensions two and four, respectively). We also perform Laurentification for these ma…
In this paper, we establish Liouville correspondences for the integrable two-component Camassa-Holm hierarchy, the two-component Novikov (Geng-Xue) hierarchy, and the two-component dual dispersive water wave hierarchy by means of the related Liouville transformations. This extends previous results on the scalar Camassa-Holm and KdV hierarchies, and the Novikov and Sawada-Kotera hierarchies to the multi-component case.
Based on the structure of Casimir elements associated with general Hopf algebras there are constructed Liouville-Arnold integrable flows related with naturally induced Poisson structures on arbitrary co-algebra and their deformations. Some interesting special cases including the oscillatory Heisenberg-Weil algebra related co-algebra structures and adjoint with them integrable Hamiltonian systems are considered.
The problem of constructing semi-discrete integrable analogues of the Liouville type integrable PDE is discussed. We call the semi-discrete equation a discretization of the Liouville type PDE if these two equations have a common integral. For the Liouville type integrable equations from the well-known Goursat list for which the integrals of minimal order are of the order less than or equal to two we presented a list of corresponding semi-discrete versions. The list contains new examples of non-autonomous Darboux integrable chains.
Integrable mixed models have been used as a generalization of traditional integrable models. However, a map from a traditional integrable model to a mixed integrable model is not well understood yet. Here, it is studied the relation between the mKdV-Liouville hierarchy and the mKdV hierarchy by employing an extended version of the modified truncation approach. This paper shows some solutions for the mKdV-Liouville hierarchy constructed from the soliton solutions of the mKdV hierarchy. The last section deals with the possibility of define new transcendental functions from the self-similarity re…
In this paper, we study explicit correspondences between the integrable Novikov and Sawada-Kotera hierarchies, and between the Degasperis-Procesi and Kaup-Kupershmidt hierarchies. We show how a pair of Liouville transformations between the isospectral problems of the Novikov and Sawada-Kotera equations, and the isospectral problems of the Degasperis-Procesi and Kaup-Kupershmidt equations relate the corresponding hierarchies, in both positive and negative directions, as well as their associated conservation laws. Combining these results with the Miura transformation relating the Sawada-Kotera a…
A method of integrable discretization of the Liouville type nonlinear partial differential equations is suggested based on integrals. New examples of discrete Liouville type models are presented.
In this paper we present a two-component generalization of the C-integrable Calogero equation (see [1]). This system is C-integrable as well, and moreover we show that the Calogero equation and its two-component generalization are solvable by a reciprocal transformation to ODE's. Simultaneously we obtain a generalized Liouville equation (34), determined by two arbitrary functions of one variable.
An algebraic definition of Gardner's deformations for completely integrable bi-Hamiltonian evolutionary systems is formulated. The proposed approach extends the class of deformable equations and yields new integrable evolutionary and hyperbolic Liouville-type systems. An exactly solvable two-component extension of the Liouville equation is found.
For finite dimensional Hamiltonian systems derived from 1+1 dimensional integrable systems, if they have Lax representations, then the Lax operator creates a set of conserved integrals. When these conserved integrals are in involution, it is believed quite popularly that there will be enough functionally independent ones among them to guarantee the Liouville integrability of the Hamiltonian systems, at least for those derived from physical problems. In this paper, we give a counterexample based on the U(2) principal chiral field. It is proved that the finite dimensional Hamiltonian systems der…
We construct and study certain Liouville integrable, superintegrable, and non-commutative integrable systems, which are associated with multi-sums of products.
In this paper we construct a family of integrable reductions of the dressing chain, described in its Lotka-Volterra form. For each $k,n\in\mathbb N$ with $n\geqslant 2k+1$ we obtain a Lotka-Volterra system $\hbox{LV}_b(n,k)$ on $\mathbb R^n$ which is a deformation of the Lotka-Volterra system $\hbox{LV}(n,k)$, which is itself an integrable reduction of the $2m+1$-dimensional Bogoyavlenskij-Itoh system $\hbox{LV}(2m+1,m)$, where $m=n-k-1$. We prove that $\hbox{LV}_b(n,k)$ is both Liouville and non-commutative integrable, with rational first integrals which are deformations of the rational first…
In previous work, we introduced a class of integrable spin Calogero-Moser systems associated with the classical dynamical r-matrices with spectral parameter, as classified by Etingof and Varchenko for simple Lie algebras. Here the main purpose is to establish the Liouville integrability of these systems by a uniform method.
This paper considers the whole hierarchy of bi-Hamiltonian integrable equations associated to each of the Short-Pulse (SP) equation and the Sine-Gordon (SG) equation. We prove that the transformation that relates the SP equation with the SG equation also serves to establish the correspondence between their flows and Hamiltonian conservation laws in respective hierarchy.
We write down an asymptotic expression for action coordinates in an integrable Hamiltonian system with a focus-focus equilibrium. From the singularity in the actions we deduce that the Arnol'd determinant grows infinitely large near the pinched torus. Moreover, we prove that it is possible to globally parametrise the Liouville tori by their frequencies. If one perturbs this integrable system, then the KAM tori form a Whitney smooth family: they can be smoothly interpolated by a torus bundle that is diffeomorphic to the bundle of Liouville tori of the unperturbed integrable system. As is well-k…
A new form of a binary Darboux transformation is used to generate analytical solutions of a nonlinear Liouville-von Neumann equation. General theory is illustrated by explicit examples.
In this paper we consider a completely Liouville integrable Hamiltonian system with two degrees of freedom, which describes the dynamics of two vortex filaments in a Bose-Einstein condensate enclosed in a cylindrical trap. For vortex pairs of positive intensity detected bifurcation of three Liouville tori into one. Such bifurcation was found in the integrable case of Goryachev-Chaplygin-Sretensky in the dynamics of a rigid body. For the integrable perturbation of the physical parameter of the intensity ratio, identified bifurcation proved to be unstable, which led to bifurcations of the type o…
It is shown that two different supersymmetric extensions of the Harry Dym equation lead to two different negative hierarchies of the supersymmetric integrable equations. While the first one yields the known even supersymmetric Hunter - Saxton equation, the second one is a new odd supersymmetric Hunter - Saxton equation. It is further proved that these two supersymmetric extensions of the Hunter - Saxton equation are reciprocally transformed to two different supersymmetric extensions of the Liouville equation.
We consider the Stäckel transform, also known as the coupling-constant metamorphosis, which under certain conditions turns a Hamiltonian dynamical system into another such system and preserves the Liouville integrability. We show that the corresponding transformation for the equations of motion is nothing but the reciprocal transformation of a special form and we investigate the properties of this transformation. This result is further applied for the study of the $k$-hole deformations of the Benenti systems or more general seed systems.
We solve the problem of reducing to the simplest and convenient for our purposes, canonical form for an arbitrary pair of compatible nonlocal Poisson brackets of hydrodynamic type generated by metrics of constant Riemannian curvature in order to get an effective construction of the integrable hierarchies related to all these compatible Poisson brackets.
A systematic approach to Liouville integrable defects is proposed, based on an underlying Poisson algebraic structure. The non-linear Schrodinger model in the presence of a single particle-like defect is investigated through this algebraic approach. Local integrals of motions are constructed as well as the time components of the corresponding Lax pairs. Continuity conditions imposed upon the time components of the Lax pair to all orders give rise to sewing conditions, which turn out to be compatible with the hierarchy of charges in involution. Coincidence of our results with the continuum limi…
In this paper we show that the supergravity equations describing both cosmic billiards and a large class of black-holes are, generically, both Liouville integrable as a consequence of the same universal mechanism. This latter is provided by the Liouville integrable Poissonian structure existing on the dual Borel algebra B_N of the simple Lie algebra A_{N-1}. As a by product we derive the explicit integration algorithm associated with all symmetric spaces U/H^{*} relevant to the description of time-like and space-like p-branes. The most important consequence of our approach is the explicit cons…
A detailed description of topology of integrable billiard systems is given. For elliptical billiards and geodesic billiards on ellipsoid, the corresponding Fomenko graphs are constructed.
The article deals with a generalized mathematical model of the dynamics of two point vortices in the Bose-Einstein condensate enclosed in a harmonic trap, and of the dynamics of two point vortices in an ideal fluid bounded by a circular region. In the case of a positive vortex pair, which is of interest for physical experimental applications, a new bifurcation diagram is obtained, for which the bifurcation of four tori into one is indicated. The presence of bifurcations of three and four tori in the integrable model of vortex dynamics with positive intensities indicates a complex transition an…
It is well known that changes in the Liouville foliations of the isoenergy surfaces of an integrable system imply that the bifurcation set has singularities at the corresponding energy level. We formulate certain genericity assumptions for two degrees of freedom integrable systems and we prove the opposite statement: the essential critical points of the bifurcation set appear only if the Liouville foliations of the isoenergy surfaces change at the corresponding energy levels. Along the proof, we give full classification of the structure of the isoenergy surfaces near the critical set under our…
In this paper we study the integrability of the Hamiltonian system associated to the fourth Painlevé equation. We prove that one two parametric family of this Hamiltonian system is not integrable in the sense of the Liouville-Arnold theorem. Computing explicitly the Stokes matrices and the formal invariants of the second variational equations we deduce that the connected component of the unit element of the corresponding Galois grou is not Abelian. Thus the Morales-Ramis-Simó theory leads to a non-integrable result. Moreover, combining the new result with our previous one we establish that for…
We study one-parameter expanding evolution families of simply connected domains in the complex plane described by infinite systems of evolution parameters. These evolution parameters in some cases admit Hamiltonian formulation and lead to integrable systems. One example of such parameters is complex moments for the Laplacian growth that form a Whitham-Toda integrable hierarchy. Another example we deal with is related to expanding coefficient bodies for conformal maps given by Löwner subordination chains. The coefficients bodies are proved to form a Liouville partially integrable Hamiltonian sy…
Application of our algebraic approach to Liouville integrable defects is proposed for the sine-Gordon model. Integrability of the model is ensured by the underlying classical r-matrix algebra. The first local integrals of motion are identified together with the corresponding Lax pairs. Continuity conditions imposed on the time components of the entailed Lax pairs give rise to the sewing conditions on the defect point consistent with Liouville integrability.
We construct integrable discrete nonautonomous quad-equations as Bäcklund auto-transformations for known Volterra and Toda type semidiscrete equations, some of which are also nonautonomous. Additional examples of this kind are found by using transformations of discrete equations which are invertible on their solutions. In this way we obtain integrable examples of different types: discrete analogs of the sine-Gordon equation, the Liouville equation and the dressing chain of Shabat. For Liouville type equations we construct general solutions, using a specific linearization. For sine-Gordon type …
A parameter-dependent class of Hamiltonian (generalized) Lotka-Volterra systems is considered. We prove that this class contains Liouville integrable as well as superintegrable cases according to particular choices of the parameters. We determine sufficient conditions which result in integrable behavior, while we numerically explore the complementary cases, where these analytically derived conditions are not satisfied.
We reformulate the conditions of Liouville integrability in the language of Gozzi et al.'s quantum BRST anti-BRST description of classical mechanics. The Das-Okubo geometrical Lax equation is particularly suited to this approach. We find that the Lax pair and inverse scattering wavefunction appear naturally in certain sectors of the quantum theory.
Completely Liouville integrable Hamiltonian system with two degrees of freedom, describing the dynamics of two vortex filaments in a Bose-Einstein condensate enclosed in a cylindrical trap, is considered. For the system of two vortices with identical intensities detected bifurcation of three Liouville tori into one. Such a bifurcation was found in the integrable case of Goryachev-Chaplygin-Sretensky in the rigid body dynamics.
We present a new Liouville-integrable natural Hamiltonian system on the (cotangent bundle of the) two-dimensional sphere. The second integral is cubic in the momenta.
A number of examples of Hamiltonian systems that are integrable by classical means are cast within the framework of isospectral flows in loop algebras. These include: the Neumann oscillator, the cubically nonlinear Schrödinger systems and the sine-Gordon equation. Each system has an associated invariant spectral curve and may be integrated via the Liouville-Arnold technique. The linearizing map is the Abel map to the associated Jacobi variety, which is deduced through separation of variables in hyperellipsoidal coordinates. More generally, a family of moment maps is derived, identifying certai…
We consider an integrable generalization of the sine-Gordon (sG) equation that was earlier derived by one of the authors using bi-Hamiltonian methods. This equation is related to the sG equation in the same way that the Camassa-Holm equation is related to the KdV equation. In this paper we: (a) Derive a Lax pair. (b) Use the Lax pair to solve the initial value problem on the line. (c) Analyze solitons. (d) Show that the generalized sG and sG equations are related by a Liouville transformation. (e) Derive conservation laws. (f) Analyze traveling-wave solutions.
Let (M,ω) be a symplectic 2n-manifold and h_1,...,h_n be functionally independent commuting functions on M. We present a geometric criterion for a singular point P\in M (i.e. such that {dh_i(P)}_{i=1}^n are linearly dependent) to be non-degenerate in the sence of Vey-Eliasson. Then we apply Fomenko's theory to study the neighborhood U of the singular Liouville fiber containing saddle-saddle singularities of the Manakov top. Namely, we describe the singular Liouville foliation on U and the `Bohr-Sommerfeld' lattices on the momentum map image of U. A relation with the quantum Manakov top studied…
In this paper we apply the nested algebraic Bethe ansatz to compute the eigenvalues and the Bethe equations of the transfer matrix of the new integrable Lindbladian found in [1]. We show that it can be written as an integrable spin chain consisting of two interacting XXZ spin chains. We numerically compute the Liouville gap and its dependence on the parameters in the system such as scaling with the system length and interaction strength.
In this paper we construct the autonomous quad-equations which admit as symmetries the five-point differential-difference equations belonging to known lists found by Garifullin, Yamilov and Levi. The obtained equations are classified up to autonomous point transformations and some simple non-autonomous transformations. We discuss our results in the framework of the known literature. There are among them a few new examples of both sine-Gordon and Liouville type equations.
The modified Camassa-Holm equation (also called FORQ) is one of numerous $cousins$ of the Camassa-Holm equation possessing non-smoth solitons ($peakons$) as special solutions. The peakon sector of solutions is not uniquely defined: in one peakon sector (dissapative) the Sobolev $H^1$ norm is not preserved, in the other sector (conservative), introduced in [2], the time evolution of peakons leaves the $H^1$ norm invariant. In this Letter, it is shown that the conservative peakon equations of the modified Camassa-Holm can be given an appropriate Poisson structure relative to which the equations …
