We derive a (weak) second term identity for the regularized Siegel-Weil formula for the even orthogonal group, which is used to obtain a Rallis inner product formula in the "second term range". As an application, we show the following non-vanishing result of global theta lifts from orthogonal groups. Let $π$ be a cuspidal automorphic representation of an orthogonal group $O(V)$ with $\dim V=m$ even and $r+1\leq m\leq 2r$. Assume further that there is a place $v$ such that $π_v\congπ_v\otimes\det$. Then the global theta lift of $π$ to $Sp_{2r}$ does not vanish up to twisting by automorphic determinant characters if the (incomplete) standard $L$-function $L^S(s,π)$ does not vanish at $s=1+\frac{2r-m}{2}$. Note that we impose no further condition on $V$ or $π$. We also show analogous non-vanishing results when $m > 2r$ (the "first term range") in terms of poles of $L^S(s,π)$ and consider the "lowest occurrence" conjecture of the theta lift from the orthogonal group.
We study the Siegel-Weil formula in the second term range ($n+1\leq m\leq n+r$) for unitary groups of hermitian forms over a skew-field $D$ with involution of the second kind.
In this paper, we establish the second term identity of the Siegel-Weil formula in full generality, and derive the Rallis inner product formula for global theta lifts for any dual pair. As a corollary, we resolve the non-vanishing problem of global theta lifts initiated by Steve Rallis.
We show a Siegel-Weil formula in the setting of exceptional theta correspondence. Using this, together with a new Rankin-Selberg integral for the Spin L-function of $PGSp_6$ discovered by A. Pollack, we prove that a cuspidal representation of $PGSp_6$ is a (weak) functorial lift from the exceptional group $G_2$ if its (partial) Spin L-function has a pole at $s=1$.
Following W.T.Gan and S.Takeda, we obtain a weak second term identity of the regularized Siegel-Weil formula for the unitary dual pair $(U(n,n),U(V))$, where $V$ is a split hermitian space of dimension $2r$ with $r+1 \leq n \leq 2r-1$. As an application, we obtain a Rallis inner product formula for theta lifts from $U(W)$ to $U(V)$ for a skew-hermitian space $W$ of dimension $n$.
We prove the higher Siegel--Weil formula for \emph{corank one} terms, relating (1) the $r^{\rm th}$ central derivatives of corank one Fourier coefficients of Siegel--Eisenstein series, and (2) the degrees of special cycles of virtual dimension 0 on the moduli stack of Hermitian shtukas with $r$ legs. Notably, the formula holds for all $r$, regardless of the order of vanishing of the Eisenstein series. This extends earlier work of Feng--Yun--Zhang, who proved the higher Siegel--Weil formula for the non-singular (corank zero) terms.
We formulate and prove a local arithmetic Siegel--Weil formula for GSpin Rapoport--Zink spaces, which is a precise identity between the arithmetic intersection numbers of special cycles on GSpin Rapoport--Zink spaces and the derivatives of local representation densities of quadratic forms. As a first application, we prove a semi-global arithmetic Siegel--Weil formula as conjectured by Kudla, which relates the arithmetic intersection numbers of special cycles on GSpin Shimura varieties at a place of good reduction and the central derivatives of nonsingular Fourier coefficients of incoherent Sie…
In this paper, we prove the weak Siegel-Weil formula for the space M_2(Q) . We study the Hecke correspondence and representation numbers associated to Eichler orders, and give the explicit formula for degree of Hecke correspondence and average representation numbers over genus. This formula could recover the main results in [DuYang]. We could identify these numbers with the Fourier coefficients of Eisenstein series via Siegel-Weil formula(weak Siegel-Weil formula for M_2(Q). In the last part of this article, we reprove four square sum Theorem via Siegel-Weil formula and Kudla's matching.
We describe the effect of the differential operators defined by Boecherer-Nagaoka, Flander-Ghitza and Yamauchi on the Galois representations (conjecturally) attached to Siegel modular eigenforms.
We establish a Siegel-Weil formula for the dual pair $(U(1,1), U(V))$ over a function field, where $V$ is a hermitian space of dimension greater than 2.
The Weil representation discovered by Andre Weil plays an important role in the study of the tranformation properties of theta series. In this paper, we define the Weil-Schroedinger representation of the Jacobi group and prove that the theta series associated with the Weil-Schroedinger representation is a Jacobi form with respect to a suitable arithmetic subgroup of the Jacobi modular group.
We establish a Siegel-Weil formula for classical groups over a function field with odd characteristic, which asserts in many cases that the Siegel Eisenstein series is equal to an integral of a theta function. This is a function-field analogue of the classical result proved by A. Weil in his 1965 Acta Math. paper. We also give a convergence criterion for the theta integral by using Harder's reduction theory over function fields.
In this paper, we proved an arithmetic Siegel-Weil formula and the modularity of some arithmetic theta function on the modular curve $X_0(N)$ when $N$ is square free. In the process, we also construct some generalized Delta function for $Γ_0(N)$ and proved some explicit Kronecker limit formula for Eisenstein series on $X_0(N)$.
In this manuscript, we develope the theory of harmonic analysis on the Heisenberg group G of high dimension. We investigate the theta functions and the Weil representation related to this Heisenberg group and describe the connection among them.
The main goal of this expository article is to survey recent progress on the arithmetic Siegel-Weil formula and its applications. We begin with the classical sum of two squares problem and put it in the context of the Siegel-Weil formula. We then motivate the geometric and arithmetic Siegel-Weil formula using the classical example of the product of modular curves. After explaining the recent result on the arithmetic Siegel-Weil formula for Shimura varieties of arbitrary dimension, we discuss some aspects of the proof and its application to the arithmetic inner product formula and the Beilinson…
We consider the action of Hecke-type operators on Hilbert-Siegel theta series attached to lattices of even rank. We show that average Hilbert-Siegel theta series are eigenforms for these operators, and we explicitly compute the eigenvalues.
Given a Siegel theta series and a prime p not dividing the level of the theta series, we apply to the theta series the n+1 Hecke operators that generate the local Hecke algebra at p. We show that the average theta series is an eigenform and we compute the eigenvalues.
We find nice representatives for the 0-dimensional cusps of the degree $n$ Siegel upper half-space under the action of $Γ_0(\stufe)$. To each of these we attach a Siegel Eisenstein series, and then we make explicit a result of Siegel, realizing any integral weight average Siegel theta series of arbitrary level $\stufe$ and Dirichlet character $χ_L$ modulo $\stufe$ as a linear combination of Siegel Eisenstein series.
We define a family of arithmetic zero cycles in the arithmetic Chow group of a modular curve X_0(N), for N>3 odd and squarefree, and identify the arithmetic degrees of these cycles as q-coefficients of the central derivative of a Siegel Eisenstein series of genus two. This parallels work of Kudla-Rapoport-Yang for Shimura curves.
The theta-block conjecture proposed by Gritsenko--Poor--Yuen in 2013 characterizes Siegel paramodular forms which are simultaneously Borcherds products and additive Jacobi lifts. In this paper, we prove this conjecture for two new infinite series of theta blocks of weights 2 and 3. The proof is based on Scheithauer's classification of reflective modular forms of singular weight.
We investigate Siegel theta series for quadratic forms of signature $(m-1,1)$. On the one hand, we construct a holomorphic series that does not transform like a modular form. On the other hand, we construct a non-holomorphic series that transforms like a Siegel modular form of weight $m/2$. Moreover, the holomorphic series describes almost everywhere the holomorphic part of the modular series.
Let q be an integral quadratic form of signature (2,m+2). We will show that the Siegel theta functions attached to q satisfies certain symmetries. As an application, we prove the symmetries for automorphic forms on the orthogonal group of q closely related to Heegener divisors (Borcherds lifts and automorphic Green functions).
Given a characteristic, we define a character of the Siegel modular group of level 2, the computations of their values are also obtained. By using our theorems, some key theorems of Igusa [1] can be recovered.
The modular transformation behavior of theta series for indefinite quadratic forms is well understood in the case of elliptic modular forms due to Vignéras, who deduced that solving a differential equation of second order serves as a criterion for modularity. In this paper, we will give a generalization of this result to Siegel theta series.
In this paper, we study twisted arithmetic divisors on the modular curve X_0(N) with N square-free. For each pair (Δ, r) where Δ>0 and Δ\equiv r^2 \mod 4N, we constructed a twisted arithmetic theta function ϕ_{Δ, r}(τ) which is a generating function of arithmetic twisted Heegner divisors. We prove the modularity of ϕ_{Δ, r}(τ), along the way, we also identify the arithmetic pairing \langle ϕ_{Δ, r}(τ),\widehatω_N \rangle with special value of some Eisenstein series, where \widehatω_N is a normalized metric Hodge line bundle.
We construct natural Green forms for special cycles in orthogonal and unitary Shimura varieties, in all codimensions, and, for compact Shimura varieties of type O(p,2) and U(p,1), we show that the resulting local archimedean height pairings are related to special values of derivatives of Siegel Eisentein series. A conjecture put forward by Kudla relates these derivatives to arithmetic intersections of special cycles, and our results settle the part of his conjecture involving local archimedean heights.
In this paper, we investigate the interplay between positive-definite integral ternary quadratic forms and class numbers. We generalize a result of Jones relating the theta function for the genus of a quadratic form to the Hurwitz class numbers, obtaining an asymptotic formula (with a main term and error term away from finitely many bad square classes $t_j\mathbb{Z}^2$) relating the number of lattices points in a quadratic space of a given norm with a sum of class numbers related to that norm and the squarefree part of the discriminant of the quadratic form on this lattice.
We continue our study of Yoshida's lifting, which associates to a pair of automorphic forms on the adelic multiplicative group of a quaternion algebra a Siegel modular form of degree 2. We consider here the case that the automorphic forms on the quaternion algebra correspond to modular forms of arbitrary even weights and square free levels; in particular we obtain a construction of Siegel modular forms of weight 3 attached to a pair of elliptic modular forms of weights 2 and 4.
We investigate so-called "higher" Siegel theta lifts on Lorentzian lattices in the spirit of Bruinier-Ehlen-Yang and Bruinier-Schwagenscheidt. We give a series representation of the lift in terms of Gauss hypergeometric functions, and evaluate the lift as the constant term of a Fourier series involving the Rankin-Cohen bracket of harmonic Maass forms and theta functions. Using the higher Siegel lifts, we obtain a vector-valued analogue of Mertens' result stating that the Rankin--Cohen bracket of the holomorphic part of a harmonic Maass form of weight $\frac{3}{2}$ and a unary theta function, p…
Let $G$ be a linear split algebraic group. The degenerate Eisenstein series associated to a maximal parabolic subgroup $E_{P}(f^{0},s,g)$ with the spherical section $f^{0}$ is studied in the first part of the thesis. In this part, we study the poles of $E_{P}(f^{0},s,g)$ in the region $\operatorname{Re} s >0$. We determine when the leading term in the Laurent expansion of $E_{P}(f^{0},s,g)$ around $s=s_0$ is square integrable. The second part is devoted to finding identities between the leading terms of various Eisenstein series at different points. We present an algorithm to find this data an…
It is known that average Siegel theta series lie in the space of Siegel Eisenstein series. Also, every lattice equipped with an even integral quadratic form lies in a maximal lattice. Here we consider average Siegel theta series of degree 2 attached to maximal lattices; we construct maps for which the average theta series is an eigenform. We evaluate the action of these maps on Siegel Eisenstein series of degree 2 (without knowing their Fourier coefficients), and then realise the average theta series as an explicit linear combination of the Eisenstein series.
In this paper, we define the concept of Jacobi forms of half-integral weight using Takase's automorohic factor of weight 1/2 for a two-fold covering group of the symplectic group on the Siegel upper half plane and find covariant maps for the Schroedinger-Weil representation. Using these covariant maps, we construct Jacobi forms of half-integral weight with respect to an arithmetic subgroup of the Jacobi group.
In our previous paper [math.NT/0408050], we established a correspondence between vector-valued holomorphic Siegel modular forms and cohomology with local coefficients for local symmetric spaces $X$ attached to real orthogonal groups of type $(p,q)$. This correspondence is realized using theta functions associated to explicitly constructed "special" Schwartz forms. Furthermore, the theta functions give rise to generating series of certain "special cycles" in $X$ with coefficients. In this paper, we study the boundary behaviour of these theta functions in the non-compact case and show that the t…
We prove that all mod $p^m$ singular forms of level $N$, degree $n+r$, and $p$-rank $r$ with $n\ge r$ are congruent mod $p^m$ to linear combinations of theta series of degree $r$ attached to quadratic forms of some level. Moreover, we prove that, the levels of theta series are of the form ``$p\mbox{-power}\times N$''. Additionally, in some cases of mod $p$ singular forms with smallest possible weight, we prove that the levels of theta series should be $p$.
The theta correspondence has been an important tool in studying cycles in locally symmetric spaces of orthogonal type. We generalize the Kudla-Millson relation between intersection numbers of cycles and Fourier coefficients of Siegel modular forms to the case where the cycles have local coefficients. Now the generating series of the cycles give rise to vector-valued Siegel modular forms. The underlying correspondence between the highest weights of the orthogonal and the symplectic group coincides with the one obtained by Adams for which we provide a geometric interpretation.
The classical theta correspondence establishes a relationship between automorphic representations on special orthogonal groups and automorphic representations on symplectic groups or their double covers. This correspondence is achieved by using as integral kernel a theta series on the metaplectic double cover of a symplectic group that is constructed from the Weil representation. There is also an analogous local correspondence. In this work we present an extension of the classical theta correspondence to higher degree metaplectic covers of symplectic and special orthogonal groups. The key issu…
We form a generating series of regularized volumes of intersections of special cycles on a non-compact unitary Shimura variety with a fixed base change cycle. We show that it is a Hilbert modular form by identifying it with a theta integral, which we show converges even though the parameters lie outside the classical convergence range of Weil. By applying the regularized Siegel-Weil formulas of Ichino and Gan-Qiu-Takeda, we show the modular form is the restriction of a hermitian modular form of degree n related to Siegel Eisenstein series on U(n,n). An essential fact used is a computation show…
We generalize the definition of CM cycles beyond the small and big CM ones studied by various authors and give a uniform formula for the CM values of Green functions associated to these special cycles in general using the idea of regularized theta lifts. Finally, as an application to Siegel 3-fold $X_2(2)$, we can compute special values of theta functions and Rosenhain $λ$-invariants at a CM cycle, which is useful for genus two curve cryptography.
