In this paper, we study the dynamical behaviors of neutral differential equations with small delays. We first establish the existence and smoothness of the global inertial manifolds for these equations. Then we further prove the smoothness of inertial manifolds with respect to small delays for a certain class of neutral differential equations. The method can be also applied to deal with more general small-delay systems. Finally, we apply our main results to the van der Pol oscillator model with small delay.
The $μ$-neutral linear fractional multi-delayed differential nonhomogeneous system with noncommutative coefficient matrices is introduced. The novel $μ$-neutral multi-delayed perturbation of Mittag-Leffler type matrix function is proposed. Based on this, an explicit solution to the system is investigated step by step. The existence uniqueness of solutions to $μ$-neutral nonlinear fractional multi-delayed differential system is obtained with regard to the supremum norm. The notion of stability analysis in the sense of solutions to the described system is discussed on the grounds of the fixed po…
Delay differential equations with differentiable solution operators on open domains in $C((-\infty,0],\mathbb{R}^n)$, and processes for Volterra integro-differential equations
We study the asymptotic dynamics of stochastic Young differential delay equations under the regular assumptions on Lipschitz continuity of the coefficient functions. Our main results show that, if there is a linear part in the drift term which has no delay factor and has eigenvalues of negative real parts, then the generated random dynamical system possesses a random pullback attractor provided that the Lipschitz coefficients of the remaining parts are small.
We study parameter estimation for the two state model which describes the balance equation for carbon dioxide and oxygen in human respiratory system. These are nonlinear parameter dependent and because of the transport delay in the respiratory control system, they are modeled with delay differential equation. Numerically simulated noisy data are generated and several examples are studied with Levenberg-Marquardt and Trust-region algorithms to determine the values of unknown parameters.
A variety of physical phenomena involve the nonlinear transfer of energy from weakly damped modes subjected to external forcing to other modes which are more heavily damped. In this work we explore this in (finite-dimensional) stochastic differential equations in $\mathbb R^n$ with a quadratic, conservative nonlinearity $B(x,x)$ and a linear damping term $-Ax$ which is degenerate in the sense that $\mathrm{ker} A \neq \emptyset$. We investigate sufficient conditions to deduce the existence of a stationary measure for the associated Markov semigroups. Existence of such measures is straightforwa…
We show the continuous dependence of solutions of linear nonautonomous second order parabolic partial differential equations (PDEs) with bounded delay on coefficients and delay. The assumptions are very weak: only convergence in the weak-* topology of delay coefficients is required. The results are important in the applications of the theory of Lyapunov exponents to the investigation of PDEs with delay.
A condition on delay for differential equations with discrete state-dependent delay

In this paper, we obtain sufficient conditions for the permanence of a family of nonautonomous systems of delay differential equations. This family includes structured models from mathematical biology, with either discrete or distributed delays in both the linear and nonlinear terms, and where typically the nonlinear terms are nonmonotone. Applications to generalized Nicholson or Mackey-Glass systems are given.
Compartmental ordinary differential equation (ODE) models are used extensively in mathematical biology. When transit between compartments occurs at a constant rate, the well-known linear chain trick can be used to show that the ODE model is equivalent to an Erlang distributed delay differential equation (DDE). Here, we demonstrate that compartmental models with non-linear transit rates and possibly delayed arguments are also equivalent to a scalar distributed delay differential equation. To illustrate the utility of these equivalences, we calculate the equilibria of the scalar DDE, and compute…
It has been observed in several recent works that, for some classes of linear time-delay systems, spectral values of maximal multiplicity are dominant, a property known as multiplicity-induced-dominancy (MID). This paper starts the investigation of whether MID holds for delay differential-algebraic systems by considering a single-delay system composed of two scalar equations. After motivating this problem and recalling some recent results for retarded delay differential equations, we prove that the MID property holds for the delay differential-algebraic system of interest and present some appl…
Spectral properties and transition to instability in neutral delay differential equations are investigated in the limit of large delay. An approximation of the upper boundary of stability is found and compared to an analytically derived exact stability boundary. The approximate and exact stability borders agree quite well for the large time delay, and the inclusion of a time-delayed velocity feedback improves this agreement for small delays. Theoretical results are complemented by a numerically computed spectrum of the corresponding characteristic equations.
It is already well-understood that many delay differential equations with only a single constant delay exhibit a change in stability according to the value of the delay in relation to a critical delay value. Finding a formula for the critical delay is important to understanding the dynamics of delayed systems and is often simple to obtain when the system only has a single constant delay. However, if we consider a system with multiple constant delays, there is no known way to obtain such a formula that determines for what values of the delays a change in stability occurs. In this paper, we pres…
The presence of a delay in a thermoelastic system destroys the well-posedness and the stabilizing effect of the heat conduction. To avoid this problem we add to the system, at the delayed equation, a Kelvin-Voigt damping. In this note we point on the exponential stability of such system in order to improve the mean result in our paper Well-posedness and exponential stability of a thermoelastic system with internal delay (Applicable Analysis J 101, 4851-4865, 2022). We use a frequency domain method in the proof of stability.
