We firstly describe a maximal inequality for dual Sobolev spaces W^{-1,p}. This one corresponds to a "Sobolev version" of usual properties of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator in Lebesgue spaces. Even in the euclidean space, this one seems to be new and we develop arguments in the general framework of Riemannian manifold. Then we present an application to obtain interpolation results for Sobolev spaces.
The purpose of this work is to describe an abstract theory of Hardy-Sobolev spaces on doubling Riemannian manifolds via an atomic decomposition. We study the real interpolation of these spaces with Sobolev spaces and finally give applications to Riesz inequalities.
In this article we generalize the classical Sobolev's and Sobolev's trace inequalities on the Grand Lebesgue Spaces instead the classical Lebesgue Spaces. We will distinguish the classical Sobolev's inequality and the so-called trace Sobolev's inequality. We consider for simplicity only the case of whole space.
We present new proofs of two theorems of E.B. Davies and B. Simon about ultracontractivity property for of semigroups of operators and logarithmic Sobolev inequalities with parameter (LSIWP for short) satisfied by the generator of the semigroup. In our proof, we use neither the $L^p$ version of the $LSIWP$ nor Stein's interpolation. Our tool is Nash type inequality. We also present new results. In particular, we show that Nash type inequality and LSIWP are equivalent.
We generalize in this article the classical Sobolev's and Sobolev's trace inequalities on the Grand Lebesgue Spaces under monomial weight instead the classical Lebesgue or grand Lebesgue Spaces. We will distinguish the classical Sobolev's inequality and the so-called trace Sobolev's inequality.
We define Euler-Hilbert-Sobolev spaces and obtain embedding results on homogeneous groups using Euler operators, which are homogeneous differential operators of order zero. Sharp remainder terms of $L^{p}$ and weighted Sobolev type and Sobolev-Rellich inequalities on homogeneous groups are given. Most inequalities are obtained with best constants. As consequences, we obtain analogues of the generalised classical Sobolev type and Sobolev-Rellich inequalities. We also discuss applications of logarithmic Hardy inequalities to Sobolev-Lorentz-Zygmund spaces. The obtained results are new already in…
Functions in a Sobolev space are approximated directly by piecewise affine interpolation in the norm of the space. The proof is based on estimates for interpolations and does not rely on the density of smooth functions.
We develop a new method to obtain symmetrization inequalities of Sobolev type. Our approach leads to new inequalities and considerable simplification in the theory of embeddings of Sobolev spaces based on rearrangement invariant spaces.
We show that the first order Sobolev spaces on cuspidal symmetric domains can be characterized via pointwise inequalities. In particular, they coincide with the Hajlasz-Sobolev spaces.
We use the characterization of weak type inequalities via Garsia-Rodemich conditions to show self improving properties of Poincaré-Sobolev inequalities in a very general context.
In this short article we obtain some necessary conditions for a so-called fractional Hardy-Sobolev's inequalities in multidimensional case. We also give some examples to show the sharpness of these inequalities.
We prove capacitary strong type inequalities for functions belonging to Orlicz-Sobolev spaces. As an application we consider capacitary averages and their limits.
We prove a trace Hardy type inequality with the best constant on the polyhedral convex cones which generalizes recent results of Alvino et al. and of Tzirakis on the upper half space. We also prove some trace Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya type inequalities which generalize the recent results of Filippas et al.. In applications, we derive some Hardy type inequalities and Hardy-Sobolev-Maz'ya type inequalities for fractional Laplacian. Finally, we prove the logarithmic Sobolev trace inequalities and logarithmic Hardy trace inequalities on the upper half spaces. The best constants in these inequalities ar…
We discuss our work on pointwise inequalities for the gradient which are connected with the isoperimetric profile associated to a given geometry. We show how they can be used to unify certain aspects of the theory of Sobolev inequalities. In particular, we discuss our recent papers on fractional order inequalities, Coulhon type inequalities, transference and dimensionless inequalities and our forthcoming work on sharp higher order Sobolev inequalities that can be obtained by iteration.
We investigate the properties of a class of weighted vector-valued $L_p$-spaces and the corresponding (an)isotropic Sobolev-Slobodetskii spaces. These spaces arise naturally in the context of maximal $L_p$-regularity for parabolic initial-boundary value problems. Our main tools are operators with a bounded $\calH^\infty$-calculus, interpolation theory, and operator sums.
In this paper, we got several sharp Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev-type inequalities on quaternionic Heisenberg groups (a general form due to Folland and Stein [FS74]), using the symmetrization-free method in a paper of Frank and Lieb [FL12], where they considered the analogues on classical Heisenberg group. First, we give the sharp Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequalities, both on quaternionic Heisenberg group and its equivalent on quaternionic sphere for exponent bigger than 4. The extremizer, as we guess, is almost uniquely constant function on sphere. Then their dual form, sharp conformally-invaria…
We present a class of modified logarithmic Sobolev inequality, interpolating between Poincaré and logarithmic Sobolev inequalities, suitable for measures of the type $\exp(-|x|^\al)$ or more complex $\exp(-|x|^\al\log^β(2+|x|))$ ($\al\in]1,2[$ and $\be\in\dR$) which lead to new concentration inequalities. These modified inequalities share common properties with usual logarithmic Sobolev inequalities, as tensorisation or perturbation, and imply as well Poincaré inequality. We also study the link between these new modified logarithmic Sobolev inequalities and transportation inequalities.
We give a sufficient condition for limiting Sobolev and Hardy inequalities to hold on stratified homogeneous groups. In the Euclidean case, this condition reduces to the known cancelling necessary and sufficient condition. We obtain in particular endpoint Korn--Sobolev and Korn--Hardy inequalities on stratified homogeneous groups.
We derive some anisotropic Sobolev inequalities in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ with a monomial weight in the general setting of rearrangement invariant spaces. Our starting point is to obtain an integral oscillation inequality in multiplicative form.
We establish point wise inequalities for Sobolev functions on a wider class of outward cuspidal domains. It is a generalization of an earlier result by the author and his collaborators
We establish sharp affine weighted $L^p$ Sobolev type inequalities by using the $L_p$ Busemann-Petty centroid inequality proved by Lutwak, Yang and Zhang. Our approach consists in combining in a convenient way the latter one with a suitable family of sharp weighted $L^p$ Sobolev type inequalities obtained by Nguyen and allows to characterize all extremizers in some cases. The new inequalities don't rely on any euclidean geometric structure.
We explicitly describe all Hilbert function spaces that are interpolation spaces with respect to a given couple of Sobolev inner product spaces considered over $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ or a half-space in $\mathbb{R}^{n}$ or a bounded Euclidean domain with Lipschitz boundary. We prove that these interpolation spaces form a subclass of isotropic Hörmander spaces. They are parametrized with a radial function parameter which is OR-varying at $+\infty$ and satisfies some additional conditions. We give explicit examples of intermediate but not interpolation spaces.
We derive sharp Sobolev inequalities for Sobolev spaces on metric spaces. In particular, we obtain new sharp Sobolev embeddings and Faber-Krahn estimates for Hörmander vector fields.
The study of Sobolev inequalities can be divided in two cases: p = 1 and 1 < p < +$\infty$. In the case p = 1 we study here a relaxed version of refined Sobolev inequalities. When p > 1, using as base space classical Lorentz spaces associated to a weight from the Arino-Muckenhoupt class Bp, we will study Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequalities. As a by-product we will also consider Morrey-Sobolev inequalities. These arguments can be generalized to many different frameworks, in particular the proofs are given in the setting of stratified Lie groups.
A family of sharp $L^p$ Sobolev inequalities is established by averaging the length of $i$-dimensional projections of the gradient of a function. Moreover, it is shown that each of these new inequalities directly implies the classical $L^p$ Sobolev inequality of Aubin and Talenti and that the strongest member of this family is the only affine invariant one among them -- the affine $L^p$ Sobolev inequality of Lutwak, Yang, and Zhang. When $p = 1$, the entire family of new Sobolev inequalities is extended to functions of bounded variation to also allow for a complete classification of all extrem…
In this short paper, we establish a range of Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg and weighted $L^{p}$-Sobolev type inequalities on stratified Lie groups. All inequalities are obtained with sharp constants. Moreover, the equivalence of the Sobolev type inequality and Hardy inequality is shown in the $L^{2}$-case.
In this paper, we study the sharp Poincaré inequality and the Sobolev inequalities in the higher order Lorentz--Sobolev spaces in the hyperbolic spaces. These results generalize the ones obtained in \cite{Nguyen2020a} to the higher order derivatives and seem to be new in the context of the Lorentz--Sobolev spaces defined in the hyperbolic spaces.
This paper provides an overview of interpolation of Banach and Hilbert spaces, with a focus on establishing when equivalence of norms is in fact equality of norms in the key results of the theory. (In brief, our conclusion for the Hilbert space case is that, with the right normalisations, all the key results hold with equality of norms.) In the final section we apply the Hilbert space results to the Sobolev spaces $H^s(Ω)$ and $\widetilde{H}^s(Ω)$, for $s\in \mathbb{R}$ and an open $Ω\subset \mathbb{R}^n$. We exhibit examples in one and two dimensions of sets $Ω$ for which these scales of Sobo…
In this paper we focus our attention on an embedding result for a weighted Sobolev space that involves as weight the distance function from the boundary taken with respect to a general smooth gauge function $F$. Starting from this type of inequalities we prove some refined Hardy-type inequalities.
We prove a logarithmic Sobolev trace inequality in a gaussian space and we study the trace operator in the weighted Sobolev space W^{1,p}(Ω,γ) for sufficiently regular domain. We exhibit examples to show the sharpness of the results. Applications to PDE are also considered.
In this paper we show different inequalities for fractional order differential operators. In particular, the Sobolev, Hardy, Gagliardo-Nirenberg and Caffarelli-Kohn-Nirenberg type inequalities for the Caputo, Riemann-Liouville and Hadamard derivatives are obtained. In addition, we show some applications of these inequalities.
We prove that $W^{1}_{p}$ is an interpolation space between $W^{1}_{p_{1}}$ and $W^{1}_{p_{2}}$ for $p>q_{0}$ and $1\leq p_{1}<p<p_{2}\leq \infty$ on some classes of manifolds and general metric spaces, where $q_{0}$ depends on our hypotheses.
We give complete details on an alternative formulation of the Polya-Szego principle that was mentioned in Remark 1 of our paper "Isoperimetry and Symmetrization for Logarithmic Sobolev inequalities". We also provide an alternative proof to a result in the same paper.
In this paper we describe the Euler semigroup $\{e^{-t\mathbb{E}^{*}\mathbb{E}}\}_{t>0}$ on homogeneous Lie groups, which allows us to obtain various types of the Hardy-Sobolev and Gagliardo-Nirenberg type inequalities for the Euler operator $\mathbb{E}$. Moreover, the sharp remainder terms of the Sobolev type inequality, maximal Hardy inequality and $|\cdot|$-radial weighted Hardy-Sobolev type inequality are established.
We prove a scale of generalized $L^p$-Poincaré inequalities and Sobolev type inequalities on graphs with polynomial volume growth. They are optimal on Vicsek graphs.
We develop a technique to obtain new symmetrization inequalities that provide a unified framework to study Sobolev inequalities, concentration inequalities and sharp integrability of solutions of elliptic equations
In this short article we show a particular version of the Hedberg inequality which can be used to derive, in a very simple manner, functional inequalities involving Sobolev and Besov spaces in the general setting of Lebesgue spaces of variable exponents and in the framework of Orlicz spaces.
We introduce the concept of Gaussian integral isoperimetric transference and show how it can be applied to obtain a new class of sharp Sobolev-Poincaré inequalities with constants independent of the dimension. In the special case of $L^{q}$ spaces on the unit $n-$dimensional cube our results extend the recent inequalities that were obtained in \cite{FKS} using extrapolation.
In this paper we prove structural and topological characterizations of the screened Sobolev spaces with screening functions bounded below and above by positive constants. We generalize a method of interpolation to the case of seminormed spaces. This method, which we call the truncated method, generates the screened Sobolev subfamily and a more general screened Besov scale. We then prove that the screened Besov spaces are equivalent to the sum of a Lebesgue space and a homogeneous Sobolev space and provide a Littlewood-Paley frequency space characterization.
A note that points out the possibility to have p<1 in Sobolev type of inequalities by a use of the momomial structure of polynomials or power series. The proof is simple: Triangle angle inequality p*>1, monomial estimate from p* to exponent p<1, then the inverse triangle inequality.
We give in this short paper the exact value for norms of two operators of Hardy-Sobolev type acting between two weight Grand Lebesgue Space (GLS) based on the whole multidimensional Euclidean space.

In this article we give a straightforward proof of refined inequalities between Lorentz spaces and Besov spaces and we generalize previous results of H. Bahouri and A. Cohen. Our approach is based in the characterization of Lorentz spaces as real interpolation spaces. We will also study the sharpness and optimality of these inequalities.
We study in this article the Improved Sobolev inequalities with Muckenhoupt weights within the framework of stratified Lie groups. This family of inequalities estimate the Lq norm of a function by the geometric mean of two norms corresponding to Sobolev spaces W(s;p) and Besov spaces B(-b, infty, infty). When the value p which characterizes Sobolev space is strictly larger than 1, the required result is well known in R^n and is classically obtained by a Littlewood-Paley dyadic blocks manipulation. For these inequalities we will develop here another totally different technique. When p = 1, thes…
It is known that classical Hardy and Sobolev inequalities hold when the exponent $p$ and the dimension $N$ satisfy $p < N < \infty$. In this note, we consider two limits of Hardy and Sobolev inequalities as $p \nearrow N$ and $N \nearrow \infty$ in some sense.
Optimal higher-order Sobolev type embeddings are shown to follow via isoperimetric inequalities. This establishes a higher-order analogue of a well-known link between first-order Sobolev embeddings and isoperimetric inequalities. Sobolev type inequalities of any order, involving arbitrary rearrangement-invariant norms, on open sets in $\rn$, possibly endowed with a measure density, are reduced to much simpler one-dimensional inequalities for suitable integral operators depending on the isoperimetric function of the relevant sets. As a consequence, the optimal target space in the relevant Sobol…
We recall two approaches to recent improvements of the classical Sobolev inequality. The first one follows the point of view of Real Analysis, while the second one relies on tools from Convex Geometry. In this paper we prove a (sharp) connection between them.
The purpose of this text is twofold. We present a review of the existing stability results for Sobolev, Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev (HLS) and related inequalities. We also contribute to the topic with some observations on constructive stability estimates for (HLS).
In this article, motivated by a work of Caffarelli and Cordoba in phase transitions analysis, we prove new weighted anisotropic Sobolev type inequalities, that is Sobolev type inequalities where different derivatives have different weight functions. The inequalities we are dealing with, are also intimately connected to weighted Sobolev inequalities for Grushin type operators, the weights being not necessarily Muckenhoupt. For example we consider here Sobolev inequalities on finite cylinders, the weights being different powers of the distance function from the top and the bottom of the cylinder…
Using isoperimetry and symmetrization we provide a unified framework to study the classical and logarithmic Sobolev inequalities. In particular, we obtain new Gaussian symmetrization inequalities and connect them with logarithmic Sobolev inequalities. Our methods are very general and can be easily adapted to more general contexts.
Interpolation inequalities in Triebel-Lizorkin-Lorentz spaces and Besov-Lorentz spaces are studied for both inhomogeneous and homogeneous cases. First we establish interpolation inequalities under quite general assumptions on the parameters of the function spaces. Several results on necessary conditions are also provided. Next, utilizing the interpolation inequalities together with some embedding results, we prove Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequalities for fractional derivatives in Lorentz spaces, which do hold even for the limiting case when one of the parameters is equal to 1 or $\infty$.
A theory of Sobolev inequalities in arbitrary open sets of Euclidean space is established. Boundary regularity of domains is replaced with information on boundary traces of trial functions and of their derivatives up to some explicit minimal order. The relevant Sobolev inequalities involve constants independent of the geometry of the domain, and exhibit the same critical exponents as in the classical inequalities on regular domains. Our approach relies upon new representation formulas for Sobolev functions, and on ensuing pointwise estimates which hold in any open set.
