In this paper we compute the three-loop corrections to the $β$ function in a momentum subtraction (MOM) scheme with a massive quark. The calculation is performed in the background field formalism applying asymptotic expansions for small and large momenta. Special emphasis is devoted to the relation between the coupling constant in the MOM and $\overline{\rm{MS}}$ schemes as well as their ability to describe the phenomenon of decoupling.
It is demonstrated by an explicit comparison that the $\overline{\rm{MS}}$ scheme can be consistently used to relate the values of the MOM-scheme strong-coupling constant in the energy regions higher and lower than the massive-quark production threshold. This procedure obviates the necessity to know the full mass dependence of the MOM $β$ function and clearly demonstrates the equivalence of both schemes for the description of physics outside the threshold region.
We consider the extension of the transverse-momentum ($q_T$) subtraction method at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading order (N$^3$LO) in perturbative QCD. While all the $q_T$-subtraction ingredients at $q_T \neq 0$ are known in analytical form, the third-order collinear functions and helicity-flip functions, which contribute only at $q_T=0$, are approximated using a prescription which uses the known result for the total Higgs boson cross section at this order. As a first application of the third-order $q_T$-subtraction method, we present the N$^3$LO rapidity distribution of the Higgs boson at the…
A new subtraction procedure for removal both ultraviolet and infrared divergences in Feynman integrals is proposed. This method is developed for computation of QED corrections to the electron anomalous magnetic moment. The procedure is formulated in the form of a forest formula with linear operators that are applied to Feynman amplitudes of UV-divergent subgraphs. The contribution of each Feynman graph that contains propagators of electrons and photons is represented as a finite Feynman-parametric integral. Application of the developed method to the calculation of 2-loop and 3-loop contributio…
Subtraction schemes provide a systematic way to compute fully-differential cross sections beyond the leading order in the strong coupling constant. These methods make singular real-emission corrections integrable in phase space by the addition of suitable counterterms. Such counterterms may be defined using momentum mappings, which are parametrisations of the phase space that factorise the variables that describe the particles becoming unresolved in some infrared or collinear limit from the variables that describe an on-shell phase space for the resolved particles. In this work, we review exis…
In factorization formulae for cross sections of scattering processes, final-state jets are described by jet functions, which are a crucial ingredient in the resummation of large logarithms. We present an approach to calculate generic one-loop jet functions, by using the geometric subtraction scheme. This method leads to local counterterms generated from a slicing procedure; and whose analytic integration is particularly simple. The poles are obtained analytically, up to an integration over the azimuthal angle for the observable-dependent soft counterterm. The poles depend only on the soft limi…
Three-loop $β$-functions of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model regularized by higher covariant derivatives are obtained for an arbitrary supersymmetric subtraction scheme. For this purpose we first calculate two-loop anomalous dimensions for all MSSM chiral matter superfields defined in terms of the bare couplings. Then we use the NSVZ equations for the renormalization group functions defined in terms of the bare couplings, which are valid in all orders in the case of using the higher covariant derivative regularization. This gives the three-loop $β$-functions defined in terms of the ba…
We derive the leading-power singular terms at three loops for both $q_T$ and 0-jettiness, $\cal{T}_0$, for generic color-singlet processes. Our results provide the complete set of differential subtraction terms for $q_T$ and $\cal{T}_0$ subtractions at N$^3$LO, which are an important ingredient for matching N$^3$LO calculations with parton showers. We obtain the full three-loop structure of the relevant beam and soft functions, which are necessary ingredients for the resummation of $q_T$ and $\cal{T}_0$ at N$^3$LL$'$ and N$^4$LL order, and which constitute important building blocks in other co…
We provide results for the one-loop triple-collinear color/spin-space splitting operators for the five possible processes, $q \to qq'\bar{q}'$, $q \to qq\bar{q}$, $q \to qgg$, $g \to gq\bar{q}$ and $g \to ggg$. The expressions are exact in dimensionally-regulated massless QCD up to a single integral, which we expand to second order in the dimensional-regularisation parameter. We also evaluate the related splitting functions. Our results are both sufficient and indispensable for the construction of subtraction and integrated-subtraction terms for triple-collinear singularities of one-loop doubl…
The momentum space subtraction (MOM) scheme is one of the most frequently used renormalization schemes in perturbative QCD (pQCD) theory. In the paper, we make a detailed discussion on the gauge dependence of the pQCD prediction under the MOM scheme. Conventionally, there is renormalization scale ambiguity for the fixed-order pQCD predictions, which assigns an arbitrary range and an arbitrary error for the fixed-order pQCD prediction. The principle of maximum conformality (PMC) adopts the renormalization group equation to determine the magnitude of the coupling constant and hence determines an…
We introduce a more general set of kinematic renormalization schemes than the original momentum (MOM) subtraction schemes of Celmaster and Gonsalves. These new schemes will depend on a parameter $ω$ which tags the external momentum of one of the legs of the $3$-point vertex functions in Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD). In each of the three new schemes we renormalize QCD in the Landau and maximal abelian gauges and establish the three loop renormalization group functions in each gauge. As an application we evaluate two critical exponents at the Banks-Zaks fixed point and demonstrate that their val…
We introduce a novel construction of a contour deformation within the framework of Loop-Tree Duality for the numerical computation of loop integrals featuring threshold singularities in momentum space. The functional form of our contour deformation automatically satisfies all constraints without the need for fine-tuning. We demonstrate that our construction is systematic and efficient by applying it to more than 100 examples of finite scalar integrals featuring up to six loops. We also showcase a first step towards handling non-integrable singularities by applying our work to one-loop infrared…
We present a fully differential description of a decay of a scalar Higgs boson into massive b-quarks valid at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in perturbative quantum chromodynamics (QCD). We work within the nested soft-collinear subtraction scheme extended to accommodate massive partons. We include the loop-induced contribution involving a Higgs coupling to a top quark. We test our calculation against results existing in the literature, comparing the predictions for the total decay width and jet rates.
This paper describes a method of numerical evaluating high-order QED contributions to the electron anomalous magnetic moment. The method is based on subtraction of infrared and ultraviolet divergences in Feynman-parametric space before integration and on nonadaptive Monte Carlo integration that is founded on Hepp sectors. A realization of the method on the graphics accelerator NVidia Tesla K80 is described. A method of removing round-off errors that emerge due to numerical subtraction of divergences without losing calculation speed is presented. The results of applying the method to all 2-loop…
The perturbative result for the quark-mass conversion factor between the $\overline{\mathrm{MS}}$ and regularization-independent symmetric-momentum subtraction scheme (RI/SMOM) away from the chiral limit, i.e. at non-zero quark masses (RI/mSMOM), is derived up to three loops in QCD, extending the existing result by two additional orders. We further explore an illuminating possibility that in Dimensional Regularization, the original RI/(m)SMOM renormalization conditions may be interpreted merely in a weaker sense, namely as equations holding just in the 4-dimensional limit rather than exactly i…

We extend the antenna subtraction method to include hadron fragmentation processes up to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in QCD in $e^+e^-$ collisions. To handle collinear singularities associated with the fragmentation process, we introduce fragmentation antenna functions in final-final kinematics with associated phase space mappings. These antenna functions are integrated over the relevant phase spaces, retaining their dependence on the momentum fraction of the fragmenting parton. The integrated antenna functions are cross-checked against the known NNLO coefficient functions for identif…
We propose a novel local subtraction scheme for the computation of Next-to-Leading Order contributions to theoretical predictions for scattering processes in perturbative Quantum Field Theory. With respect to well known schemes proposed since many years that build upon the analysis of the real radiation matrix elements, our construction starts from the loop diagrams and exploit their loop-tree dual representation. Our scheme implements exact phase space factorization, handles final state as well as initial state singularities and is suitable for both massless and massive particles.
The quasi parton distribution is a spatial correlation of quarks or gluons along the $z$ direction in a moving nucleon which enables direct lattice calculations of parton distribution functions. It can be defined with a nonperturbative renormalization in a regularization independent momentum subtraction scheme (RI/MOM), which can then be perturbatively related to the collinear parton distribution in the $\overline{\text{MS}}$ scheme. Here we carry out a direct matching from the RI/MOM scheme for the quasi-PDF to the $\overline{\text{MS}}$ PDF, determining the non-singlet quark matching coeffic…
Loop diagram calculations typically rely on reduction to a finite set of master integrals in $4 - 2ε$ dimensions. It has been shown that for any problem, the masters can be chosen so that their coefficients are finite as $ε\rightarrow 0$. I propose a definition of renormalized $ε$-finite master integrals, which incorporate ultraviolet divergence subtractions in a specific way. A key advantage of this choice is that in expressions for physical observables, expansions to positive powers in $ε$ are never needed. As an example, I provide the subtractions for general three-loop self-energy integral…
