The KdV-Sawada-Kotera equation has single-, two- and three-soliton solutions. However, it is not known yet whether it has N-soliton solutions for any N. Viewing it as a perturbed KdV equation, the asymptotic expansion of the solution is developed through third order within the framework of a Normal Form analysis. It is shown that the equation is asymptotically integrable through the order considered. Focusing on the soliton sector, it is shown that the higher-order corrections in the Normal Form expansion represent purely inelastic KdV-soliton-collision processes, and vanish identically in the single-soliton limit. These characteristics are satisfied by the exact two-soliton solution of the KdV-Sawada-Kotera equation: The deviation of this solution from its KdV-type two-soliton approximation describes a purely inelastic scattering process: The incoming state is the faster KdV soliton. It propagates until it hits a localized perturbation, which causes its transformation into the outgoing state, the slower soliton. In addition, the effect of the perturbation on the exact two-soliton solution vanishes identically in the single-soliton limit (equal wave numbers for the two solitons).
A new supersymmetric equation is proposed for the Sawada-Kotera equation. The integrability of this equation is shown by the existence of Lax representation and infinite conserved quantities and a recursion operator.
The 2+1-dimensional integrable generalization of Kaup-Kuperschmidt and Sawada-Kotera equations are studied by $\bar\partial$-dressing method of Zakharov and Manakov. The solutions with functional parameters and periodic solutions are constructed.
The supercomplexification is a special method of N=2 supersymmetrization of the integrable equations in which the bosonic sector could be reduced to the complex version of these equations. The N=2 supercomplex Korteweg de Vries, Sawada-Kotera and Kaup-Kupershmidt equations are defined and investigated. The common attribute of the supercomplex equations is appearance of the odd hamiltonian structures and superfermionic conservation laws. The odd bi-hamiltonian structure, Lax representation and superfermionic conserved currents for new N=2 supersymmetric Korteweg de Vries equation and for Sawada…
Rational solutions and special polynomials associated with the generalized K_2 hierarchy are studied. This hierarchy is related to the Sawada-Kotera and Kaup-Kupershmidt equations and some other integrable partial differential equations including the Fordy-Gibbons equation. Differential-difference relations and differential equations satisfied by the polynomials are derived. The relationship between these special polynomials and stationary configurations of point vortices with circulations Gamma and -2Gamma is established. Properties of the polynomials are studied. Differential-difference rela…
We study the supersymmetric N=1 hierarchy connected with the Lax operator of the supersymmetric Sawada-Kotera equation. This operator produces the physical equations as well as the exotic equations with odd time. The odd Bi-Hamiltonian structure for the N=1 Supersymmetric Sawada - Kotera equation is defined. The product of the symplectic and implectic Hamiltonian operator gives us the recursion operator. In that way we prove the integrability of the supersymmetric Sawada - Kotera equation in the sense that it has the Bi-Hamiltonian structure. The so called "quadratic" Hamiltonian operator of e…
We show that a recently introduced Lax pair of the Sawada-Kotera equation is not a new one but is trivially related to the known old Lax pair. Using the so-called trivial compositions of the old Lax pairs with a differentially constrained arbitrary operators, we give some examples of trivial Lax pairs of KdV and Sawada-Kotera equations.
In this paper, we construct a Darboux transformation and the related Bäcklund transformation for the supersymmetric Sawada-Kotera (SSK) equation. The associated nonlinear superposition formula is also worked out. We demonstrate that these are natural extensions of the similar results of the Sawada-Kotera equation and may be applied to produce the solutions of the SSK equation. Also, we present two semi-discrete systems and show that the continuum limit of one of them goes to the SKK equation.
We prove that the new Lax pair of the Sawada-Kotera equation, discovered recently by Hickman, Hereman, Larue, and Goktas, and the well-known old Lax pair of this equation, considered in the form of zero-curvature representations, are gauge equivalent to each other if and only if the spectral parameter is nonzero, while for zero spectral parameter a non-gauge transformation is required.
In this paper, we study explicit correspondences between the integrable Novikov and Sawada-Kotera hierarchies, and between the Degasperis-Procesi and Kaup-Kupershmidt hierarchies. We show how a pair of Liouville transformations between the isospectral problems of the Novikov and Sawada-Kotera equations, and the isospectral problems of the Degasperis-Procesi and Kaup-Kupershmidt equations relate the corresponding hierarchies, in both positive and negative directions, as well as their associated conservation laws. Combining these results with the Miura transformation relating the Sawada-Kotera a…
We study the simple-looking scalar integrable equation $f_{xxt} - 3(f_x f_t - 1) = 0$, which is related (in different ways) to the Novikov, Hirota-Satsuma and Sawada-Kotera equations. For this equation we present a Lax pair, a Bäcklund transformation, soliton and merging soliton solutions (some exhibiting instabilities), two infinite hierarchies of conservation laws, an infinite hierarchy of continuous symmetries, a Painlevé series, a scaling reduction to a third order ODE and its Painlevé series, and the Hirota form (giving further multisoliton solutions).
A new transformation $u=4 ({\rm ln}f)_x$ that can formulate a quintic linear equation and a pair of Hirota's bilinear equations for the (2+1)-dimensional Sawada-Kotera (2DSK) equation is reported firstly, which enables one to obtain a new hierarchy of multiple soliton solutions of the 2DSK equation. It tells a crucial fact that a nonlinear partial differential equation could possess two hierarchies of multiple soliton solutions and the 2DSK equation is the first and only one found in this paper. The quintic linear equation is solved by a pair of Hirota's bilinear equations, of which one is the…
The solitons solution of BKP equation can be constructed by the Pfaffian structure. Then one investigates the real line solitons structure of BKP equation using the totally non-negative Grassmannian. Especially, the N-soliton solution is studied and its self-dual Tau function is obtained. Also, one can construct the totally non-negative Grassmannian of the Sawada-Kotera equation for its real line solitons.
We obtain new gauge-invariant forms of two-dimensional integrable systems of nonlinear equations: the Sawada-Kotera and Kaup-Kuperschmidt system, the generalized system of dispersive long waves, and the Nizhnik-Veselov-Novikov system. We show how these forms imply both new and well-known two-dimensional integrable nonlinear equations: the Sawada-Kotera equation, Kaup-Kuperschmidt equation, dispersive long-wave system, Nizhnik-Veselov-Novikov equation, and modified Nizhnik-Veselov-Novikov equation. We consider Miura-type transformations between nonlinear equations in different gauges.
We study a new example of lattice equation being one of the key equations of a recent generalized symmetry classification of five-point differential-difference equations. This equation has two different continuum limits which are the well-known fifth order partial-differential equations, namely, the Sawada-Kotera and Kaup-Kupershmidt equations. We justify its integrability by constructing an $L-A$ pair and a hierarchy of conservation laws.
We consider the solution of spectral problems with elliptic coefficients in the framework of the Hermite ansatz. We show that the search for exactly solvable potentials and their spectral characteristics is reduced to a system of polynomial equations solvable by the Gröbner bases method and others. New integrable potentials and corresponding solutions of the Sawada-Kotera, Kaup-Kupershmidt, Boussinesq equations and others are found.
A completely integrable nonlinear partial differential equation (PDE) can be associated with a system of linear PDEs in an auxiliary function whose compatibility requires that the original PDE is satisfied. This associated system is called a Lax pair. Two equivalent representations are presented. The first uses a pair of differential operators which leads to a higher order linear system for the auxiliary function. The second uses a pair of matrices which leads to a first-order linear system. In this paper we present a method, which is easily implemented in Maple or Mathematica, to compute an o…
Extending the gauge-invariance principle for τfunctions of the standard bilinear formalism to the supersymmetric case, we define N=1 supersymmetric Hirota operators. Using them, we bilinearize SUSY KdV-type equations (KdV, Sawada-Kotera, Hirota-Satsuma). The solutions for multiple collisions of super-solitons and extension to SUSY sine-Gordon are also discussed.
We obtain a bi-Hamiltonian formulation for the Ostrovsky-Vakhnenko equation using its higher order symmetry and a new transformation to the Caudrey-Dodd-Gibbon-Sawada-Kotera equation. Central to this derivation is the relation between Hamiltonian structures when dependent and independent variables are transformed.
In this paper, some notes of the homogeneous balance (HB) method are discussed by a kind of general fifth-order KdV (fKdV) equation. Frist, the auto-Bäcklund transformation and lax represents of the higher-order KdV equation(a specific forms of fKdV equation) are obtained by the HB method. Then, the connection of the Hirota transformation and the HB method is discussed by two specific fKdV equations: the Sawada-Kotera equation and the Lax's equation. At the same time, the solitary wave solution of the general fifth-order KdV equation is obtained.
The reduction by restricting the spectral parameters $k$ and $k'$ on a generic algebraic curve of degree $\mathcal{N}$ is performed for the discrete AKP, BKP and CKP equations, respectively. A variety of two-dimensional discrete integrable systems possessing a more general solution structure arise from the reduction, and in each case a unified formula for generic positive integer $\mathcal{N}\geq 2$ is given to express the corresponding reduced integrable lattice equations. The obtained extended two-dimensional lattice models give rise to many important integrable partial difference equations …
In this paper, we study the properties of a nonlinearly dispersive integrable system of fifth order and its associated hierarchy. We describe a Lax representation for such a system which leads to two infinite series of conserved charges and two hierarchies of equations that share the same conserved charges. We construct two compatible Hamiltonian structures as well as their Casimir functionals. One of the structures has a single Casimir functional while the other has two. This allows us to extend the flows into negative order and clarifies the meaning of two different hierarchies of positive f…
With the advantages of fast calculating speed and high precision, the physics-informed neural network method opens up a new approach for numerically solving nonlinear partial differential equations. Based on conserved quantities, we devise a two-stage PINN method which is tailored to the nature of equations by introducing features of physical systems into neural networks. Its remarkable advantage lies in that it can impose physical constraints from a global perspective. In stage one, the original PINN is applied. In stage two, we additionally introduce the measurement of conserved quantities i…
We consider the scaling similarity solutions of two integrable cubically nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) that admit peaked soliton (peakon) solutions, namely the modified Camassa-Holm (mCH) equation and Novikov's equation. By making use of suitable reciprocal transformations, which map the mCH equation and Novikov's equation to a negative mKdV flow and a negative Sawada-Kotera flow, respectively, we show that each of these scaling similarity reductions is related via a hodograph transformation to an equation of Painlevé type: for the mCH equation, its reduction is of second ord…
