Using the field theoretical approach introduced by Cremades, Ibanez and Marchesano for describing open strings attached to D9 branes having different magnetizations, we give a procedure for determining the Kaehler metrics of those open strings in toroidal compactifications.
We study quark mass matrices derived from magnetized $T^2/\mathbb{Z}_2$ orbifold models. Yukawa matrices at three modular fixed points, $τ=i, e^{2πi/3}$ and $i\infty$ are invariant under $S$, $ST$ and $T$-transformations. We study these invariances on $T^2/\mathbb{Z}_2$ twisted orbifold. We find that Yukawa matrices have a kind of texture structures although ones at $τ=i\infty$ are not realistic. We classify Yukawa textures at $τ=i$ and $e^{2πi/3}$. Moreover we investigate the conditions such that quark mass matrix constructed by Yukawa textures becomes approximately rank one matrix, which is …
We propose matter wavefunctions on resolutions of $T^2/\mathbb{Z}_N$ singularities with constant magnetic fluxes. In the blow-down limit, the obtained wavefunctions of chiral zero-modes result in those on the magnetized $T^2/\mathbb{Z}_N$ orbifold models, but the wavefunctions of $\mathbb{Z}_N$-invariant zero-modes receive the blow-up effects around fixed points of $T^2/\mathbb{Z}_N$ orbifolds. Such blow-up effects change the selection rules and Yukawa couplings among the chiral zero-modes as well as the modular symmetry, in contrast to those on the magnetized $T^2/\mathbb{Z}_N$ orbifold model…
We study modular transformation of holomorphic Yukawa couplings in magnetized D-brane models. It is found that their products are modular forms, which are non-trivial representations of finite modular subgroups, e.g. $S_3$, $S_4$, $Δ(96)$ and $Δ(384)$.
We study the modular invariance in magnetized torus models. Modular invariant flavor model is a recently proposed hypothesis for solving the flavor puzzle, where the flavor symmetry originates from modular invariance. In this framework coupling constants such as Yukawa couplings are also transformed under the flavor symmetry. We show that the low-energy effective theory of magnetized torus models is invariant under a specific subgroup of the modular group. Since Yukawa couplings as well as chiral zero modes transform under the modular group, the above modular subgroup (referred to as modular f…
We revisit the flavor symmetries arising from compactifications on tori with magnetic background fluxes. Using Euler's Theorem, we derive closed form analytic expressions for the Yukawa couplings that are valid for arbitrary flux parameters. We discuss the modular transformations for even and odd units of magnetic flux, M, and show that they give rise to finite metaplectic groups the order of which is determined by the least common multiple of the number of zero-mode flavors involved. Unlike in models in which modular flavor symmetries are postulated, in this approach they derive from an under…
We consider magnetized orbifolds, where the supersymmetric mass term for a pair of up- and down-type Higgs (super)fields, called $μ$-term, is localized at the orbifold fixed points, and study the effects on the zero-mode spectra. The zero-mode degeneracy to be identified as the generation in four-dimensional (4D) effective theories is determined by the magnetic fluxes. It is known that multiple Higgs zero-modes appear in general in magnetized orbifold models. We derive the analytic form of the $μ$-term matrix in the 4D effective theory generated by the localized sources on $T^2/Z_2$ orbifold f…
