The concept of cluster tilting gives a higher analogue of classical Auslander correspondence between representation-finite algebras and Auslander algebras. The $n$-Auslander-Reiten translation functor $τ_n$ plays an important role in the study of $n$-cluster tilting subcategories. We study the category $\MM_n$ of preinjective-like modules obtained by applying $τ_n$ to injective modules repeatedly. We call a finite dimensional algebra $Λ$ \emph{$n$-complete} if $\MM_n=\add M$ for an $n$-cluster tilting object $M$. Our main result asserts that the endomorphism algebra $\End_Λ(M)$ is $(n+1)$-complete. This gives an inductive construction of $n$-complete algebras. For example, any representation-finite hereditary algebra $Λ^{(1)}$ is 1-complete. Hence the Auslander algebra $Λ^{(2)}$ of $Λ^{(1)}$ is 2-complete. Moreover, for any $n\ge1$, we have an $n$-complete algebra $Λ^{(n)}$ which has an $n$-cluster tilting object $M^{(n)}$ such that $Λ^{(n+1)}=\End_{Λ^{(n)}}(M^{(n)})$. We give the presentation of $Λ^{(n)}$ by a quiver with relations. We apply our results to construct $n$-cluster tilting subcategories of derived categories of $n$-complete algebras.
For a path algebra $A$ over a quiver $Q$, there are bijections between the support-tilting modules of $A$, torsion classes in $\mathrm{mod}(A)$ and wide subcategories in $\mathrm{mod}(A)$; these are part of the Ingalls-Thomas bijections. As a blueprint for further study, we show how these bijections manifest themselves for higher Auslander algebras of linearly oriented type $A$. In particular, we introduce a higher analogue of torsion classes in $d$-representation-finite algebras.
In this paper, we study a relationship between tilting modules with finite projective dimension and dominant dimension with respect to injective modules as a generalization of results of Crawley-Boevey-Sauter, Nguyen-Reiten-Todorov-Zhu and Pressland-Sauter. Moreover, we give characterizations of almost $n$-Auslander-Gorenstein algebras and almost $n$-Auslander algebras by the existence of tilting modules. As an application, we describe a sufficient condition for almost $1$-Auslander algebras to be strongly quasi-hereditary by comparing such tilting modules and characteristic tilting modules.
We construct an isomorphism between the partially ordered set of tilting modules for the Auslander algebra of $K[x]/(x^n)$ and the interval of rational permutation braids in the braid group on $n$ strands. Hence, there are only finitely many tilting modules.
A celebrated result in representation theory is that of higher Auslander correspondence. Let $Λ$ an Artin algebra and $X$ a $d$-cluster-tilting module. Iyama has shown that the endomorphism ring $Γ$ of $X$ is a $d$-Auslander algebra, and moreover this gives a correspondence between $d$-cluster-tilting modules and $d$-Auslander algebras. We present a self-contained and concise proof using the homological theory of idempotent ideals of Auslander--Platzeck--Todorov.
For a finite dimensional algebra $Λ$ and a non-negative integer $n$, we characterize when the set $\tilt_nΛ$ of additive equivalence classes of tilting modules with projective dimension at most $n$ has a minimal (or equivalently, minimum) element. This generalize results of Happel-Unger. Moreover, for an $n$-Gorenstein algebra $Λ$ with $n\geq 1$, we construct a minimal element in $\tilt_{n}Λ$. As a result, we give equivalent conditions for a $k$-Gorenstein algebra to be Iwanaga-Gorenstein. Moreover, for an $1$-Gorenstein algebra $Λ$ and its factor algebra $Γ=Λ/(e)$, we show that there is a bij…
We generalize the notions of $n$-cluster tilting subcategories and $τ$-selfinjective algebras into $n$-precluster tilting subcategories and $τ_n$-selfinjective algebras, where we show that a subcategory naturally associated to $n$-precluster tilting subcategories has a higher Auslander--Reiten theory. Furthermore, we give a bijection between $n$-precluster tilting subcategories and $n$-minimal Auslander--Gorenstein algebras, which is a higher dimensional analog of Auslander--Solberg correspondence (Auslander--Solberg, 1993) as well as a Gorenstein analog of $n$-Auslander correspondence (Iyama,…
Let $Λ$ be a radical square zero Nakayama algebra with $n$ simple modules and let $Γ$ be the Auslander algebra of $Λ$. Then every indecomposable direct summand of a tilting $Γ$-module is either simple or projective. Moreover, if $Λ$ is self-injective, then the number of tilting $Γ$-modules is $2^n$; otherwise, the number of tilting $Γ$-modules is $2^{n-1}$.
The homological theory of Auslander-Platzeck-Todorov on idempotent ideals laid much of the groundwork for higher Auslander-Reiten theory, providing the key technical lemmas for both higher Auslander correspondence as well as the construction of higher Nakayama algebras, among other results. Given a finite-dimensional algebra $A$ and idempotent $e$, we expand on a criterion of Jasso-Külshammer in order to determine a correspondence between the $2$-precluster-tilting subcategories of $\mathrm{mod}(A)$ and $\mathrm{mod}(A/\langle e\rangle)$. This is then applied in the context of generalising dim…
Let $Λ$ be a radical square zero algebra of a Dynkin quiver and let $Γ$ be the Auslander algebra of $Λ$. Then the number of tilting right $Γ$-modules is $2^{m-1}$ if $Λ$ is of $A_{m}$ type for $m\geq 1$. Otherwise, the number of tilting right $Γ$-modules is $2^{m-3}\times14$ if $Λ$ is either of $D_{m}$ type for $m\geq 4$ or of $E_{m}$ type for $m=6,7,8$.
In this paper, we investigate the relative dominant dimension with respect to an injective module and characterize the algebras with finite relative dominant dimension. As an application, we introduce the almost n-precluster tilting module and establish a correspondence between almost n-precluster tilting modules and almost n-minimal Auslander-Gorenstein algebras. Moreover, we give a description of the Gorenstein projective modules over almost n-minimal Auslander-Gorenstein algebras in terms of the corresponding almost n-precluster tilting modules.
This article consists of an introduction to Iyama's higher Auslander-Reiten theory for Artin algebras from the viewpoint of higher homological algebra. We provide alternative proofs of the basic results in higher Auslander-Reiten theory, including the existence of $d$-almost-split sequences in $d$-cluster-tilting subcategories, following the approach to classical Auslander-Reiten theory due to Auslander, Reiten, and Smalø. We show that Krause's proof of Auslander's defect formula can be adapted to give a new proof of the defect formula for $d$-exact sequences. We use the defect formula to esta…
The higher APR tilting modules and higher BB tilting modules were introduced and studied in higher Auslander-Reiten theory. Our objective is to consider these tilting modules by the corresponding simple modules, and show that the tensor product of higher APR (BB) tilting modules is a higher APR (BB) tilting module.
We build a bijection between the set $\sttiltΛ$ of isomorphism classes of basic support $τ$-tilting modules over the Auslander algebra $Λ$ of $K[x]/(x^n)$ and the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_{n+1}$, which is an anti-isomorphism of partially ordered sets with respect to the generation order on $\sttiltΛ$ and the left order on $\mathfrak{S}_{n+1}$. This restricts to the bijection between the set $\tiltΛ$ of isomorphism classes of basic tilting $Λ$-modules and the symmetric group $\mathfrak{S}_n$ due to Brüstle, Hille, Ringel and Röhrle. Regarding the preprojective algebra $Γ$ of Dynkin type $A…

Our first result provides a new characterization of Auslander algebras using a property of hereditary torsion pairs. The second result shows an Auslander algebra $Λ$ is left or right glued if and only if $Λ$ is representation-finite. Finally, our third result shows the module category of any Auslander algebra contains a tilting module with a particular property, which we call the hereditary property. Applications of this property are investigated.
We study which algebras have tilting modules that are both generated and cogenerated by projective-injective modules. Crawley-Boevey and Sauter have shown that Auslander algebras have such tilting modules; and for algebras of global dimension $2$, Auslander algebras are classified by the existence of such tilting modules. In this paper, we show that the existence of such a tilting module is equivalent to the algebra having dominant dimension at least $2$, independent of its global dimension. In general such a tilting module is not necessarily cotilting. Here, we show that the algebras which ha…
Inspired by the recent work of Henrard, Kvamme and van Roosmalen [17], we prove a categorified version of higher Auslander correspondence in the context of exact categories. We define n-Auslander exact categories and show that there is a bijection between the equivalence classes of n-cluster tilting subcategories of exact categories and the equivalence classes of n-Auslander exact categories.
We give a characterization of $n$-cluster tilting subcategories of representation-directed algebras based on the $n$-Auslander-Reiten translations. As an application we classify acyclic Nakayama algebras with homogeneous relations which admit an $n$-cluster tilting subcategory. Finally, we classify Nakayama algebras of global dimension $d<\infty$ which admit a $d$-cluster tilting subcategory.
Relative Auslander algebras were introduced and studied by Beligiannis. In this paper, we apply intermediate extension functors associated to certain recollements of functor categories to study them. In particular, we study the existence of tilting-cotilting modules over such algebras. As a consequence, it will be shown that two Gorenstein algebras of G-dimension 1 being of finite Cohen-Macaulay type are Morita equivalent if and only if their Cohen-Macaulay Auslander algebras are Morita equivalent.
We construct two functors from the submodule category of a self-injective representation-finite algebra $Λ$ to the module category of the stable Auslander algebra of $Λ$. These functors factor through the module category of the Auslander algebra of $Λ$. Moreover they induce equivalences from the quotient categories of the submodule category modulo their respective kernels and said kernels have finitely many indecomposable objects up to isomorphism. Their construction uses a recollement of the module category of the Auslander algebra induced by an idempotent and this recollement determines a ch…
In this paper we investigate the endomorphism algebras of standard cluster tilting objects in the stably 2-Calabi-Yau categories $\Sub{Λ_w}$ with elements $w$ in Coxeter groups in \cite{BIRSc}. They are examples of the 2-Auslander algebras introduced in \cite{I1}. Generalizing work in \cite{GLS1} we show that they are quasihereditary, even strongly quasihereditary in the sense of \cite{R}. We also describe the cluster tilting object giving rise to the Ringel dual, and prove that there is a duality between $\Sub{Λ_w}$ and the category $\mathcal{F}(Δ)$ of good modules over the quasihereditary al…
We consider maximal non-$l$-intertwining collections, which are a higher-dimensional version of the maximal non-crossing collections which give clusters of Plücker coordinates in the Grassmannian coordinate ring, as described by Scott. We extend a method of Scott for producing such collections, which are related to tensor products of higher Auslander algebras of type $A$. We show that a higher preprojective algebra of the tensor product of two $d$-representation-finite algebras has a $d$-precluster-tilting subcategory. Finally we relate mutations of these collections to a form of tilting for t…
Tilting theory has been a very important tool in the classification of finite dimensional algebras of finite and tame representation type, as well as, in many other branches of mathematics. Happel [Ha] proved that generalized tilting induces derived equivalences between module categories, and tilting complexes were used by Rickard [Ri] to develop a general Morita theory of derived categories. In the other hand, functor categories were introduced in representation theory by M. Auslander and used in his proof of the first Brauer- Thrall conjecture and later on, used systematically in his joint w…
For a finite acyclic quiver $Q$ and the corresponding preprojective algebra $Π$, we study the factor algebra $Π_w$ associated with a element $w$ in the Coxeter group introduced by Buan-Iyama-Reiten-Scott. The algebra $Π_w$ has a natural $\mathbb{Z}$-grading, and we prove that $\underline{\mathsf{Sub}}^{\mathbb{Z}}Π_w$ has a tilting object $M$. Moreover, we show that the endomorphism algebra of $M$ is isomorphic to the stable Auslander algebra of a certain torsion free class of $\mathsf{mod}\,kQ$.
We recall several results in Auslander-Reiten theory for finite-dimensional algebras over fields and orders over complete local rings. Then we introduce $n$-cluster tilting subcategories and higher theory of almost split sequences and Auslander algebras there. Several examples are explained.
Higher Auslander algebras were introduced by Iyama generalizing classical concepts from representation theory of finite dimensional algebras. Recently these higher analogues of classical representation theory have been increasingly studied. Cyclic polytopes are classical objects of study in convex geometry. In particular, their triangulations have been studied with a view towards generalizing the rich combinatorial structure of triangulations of polygons. In this paper, we demonstrate a connection between these two seemingly unrelated subjects. We study triangulations of even-dimensional cycli…
Extriangulated category was introduced by Nakaoka and Palu to give a unification of properties in exact categories and triangulated categories. A notion of tilting (or cotilting) subcategories in an extriangulated category is defined in this paper. We give a Bazzoni characterization of tilting (or cotilting) subcategories and obtain an Auslander-Reiten correspondence between tilting (cotilting) subcategories and coresolving covariantly (resolving contravariantly, resp.) finite subcatgories which are closed under direct summands and satisfies some cogenerating (generating, resp.) conditons. App…
In this paper, we compute the Hochschild and cyclic homologies of the Auslander algebras of the Taft algebras. We also describe the first Chern character for the Taft algebras and for their Auslander algebras.
We shall show that the stable categories of graded Cohen-Macaulay modules over quotient singularities have tilting objects. In particular, these categories are triangle equivalent to derived categories of finite dimensional algebras. Our method is based on higher dimensional Auslander-Reiten theory, which gives cluster tilting objects in the stable categories of (ungraded) Cohen-Macaulay modules.
It is shown that a 4-recollement of derived categories of CM-finite algebras induces a 2-recollement of the corresponding Cohen-Macaulay Auslander algebras, which generalises the main theorem of Pan [S. Y. Pan, Derived equivalences for Cohen-Macaulay Auslander algebras, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 216 (2012), 355{363]. Moreover, both Auslander- Reiten conjecture and Gorenstein projective conjecture are shown invariant under 3 (or 4)-recollement of unbounded derived categories of algebras.
Recently, Chen and Koenig in \cite{CheKoe} and Iyama and Solberg in \cite{IyaSol} independently introduced and characterised algebras with dominant dimension coinciding with the Gorenstein dimension and both dimensions being larger than or equal to two. In \cite{IyaSol}, such algebras are named Auslander-Gorenstein algebras. Auslander-Gorenstein algebras generalise the well known class of higher Auslander algebras, where the dominant dimension additionally coincides with the global dimension. In this article we generalise Auslander-Gorenstein algebras further to algebras having the property th…
$n\mathbb{Z}$-cluster tilting subcategories are an ideal setting for higher dimensional Auslander-Reiten theory. We give a complete classification of $n\mathbb{Z}$-cluster tilting subcategories of module categories of Nakayama algebras. In particular, we show that there are three kinds of Nakayama algebras that admit $n\mathbb{Z}$-cluster tilting subcategories: finite global dimension, selfinjective and non-Iwanaga-Gorenstein. Only the selfinjective ones can admit more than one $n\mathbb{Z}$-cluster tilting subcategory. It has been shown by the second author, that each such $n\mathbb{Z}$-clust…
A subcategory $\mathscr{W}$ of an abelian category is called wide if it is closed under kernels, cokernels, and extensions. Wide subcategories are of interest in representation theory because of their links to other homological and combinatorial objects, established among others by Ingalls-Thomas and Marks-Šťovíček. If $d \geqslant 1$ is an integer, then Jasso introduced the notion of $d$-abelian categories, where kernels, cokernels, and extensions have been replaced by longer complexes. Wide subcategories can be generalised to this situation. Important examples of $d$-abelian categories arise…
An artin algebra A is said to be a higher Auslander algebra provided the global dimension and the dominant dimension coincide. We say that a linear Nakayama algebra is monotone, provided its Kupisch series first increases, then decreases. We are going to classify the monotone Nakayama algebras which are higher Auslander algebras. Let us stress that the classification strongly depends on the parity of the global dimension of A.

Let $\mathbb{X}$ be a weighted projective line and $\operatorname{coh}\mathbb{X}$ the associated categoy of coherent sheaves. We classify the tilting complexes $T$ in $D^b(\operatorname{coh}\mathbb{X})$ such that $τ^2 T\cong T$, where $τ$ is the Auslander-Reiten translation in $D^b(\operatorname{coh}\mathbb{X})$. As an application of this result, we classify the 2-representation-finite algebras which are derived-equivalent to a canonical algebra. This complements Iyama-Oppermann's classification of the iterated tilted 2-representation-finite algebras. By passing to 3-preprojective algebras, we…
The Caldero-Chapoton formula relates for hereditary algebras of Dynkin type the cluster characters of the end terms of an Auslander-Reiten sequence with the cluster character of the middle term. We extend this result to generalized cluster categories with cluster tilting object by considering Auslander-Reiten triangles.
We describe the structure of semi-regular Auslander-Reiten components of artin algebras without external short paths in the module category. As an application we give a complete description of self-injective artin algebras whose Auslander-Reiten quiver admits a regular acyclic component without external short paths.
We give new improved bounds for the dominant dimension of Nakayama algebras and use those bounds to give a classification of Nakayama algebras with $n$ simple modules that are higher Auslander algebras with global dimension at least $n$. The classification is then used to extend the results on the inequality for the global dimension of Nakayama algebras obtained in \cite{MM}.
We revisit faithfully balanced modules. These are faithful modules having the double centralizer property. For finite-dimensional algebras our main tool is the category ${\rm cogen}^1(M)$ of modules with a copresentation by summands of finite sums of $M$ on which ${\rm Hom}(-,M)$ is exact. For a faithfully balanced module $M$ the functor ${\rm Hom}(-,M)$ is a duality on these categories - for cotilting modules this is the Brenner-Butler theorem. We also study new classes of faithfully balanced modules combining cogenerators and cotilting modules. Then we turn to relative homological algebra in…
Given a compact p-adic Lie group we show that its distribution algebra is Frechet-Stein with Auslander regular Banach algebras. As an application, we show that nonzero coadmissible modules coming from smooth or, more general, U(g)-finite representations have maximal codimension.
